Island Jerk Cuisine

Came here with my boyfriend after wanting to come for months (I'm from jersey) and ordered a jerk chicken dinner as well as an oxtail/pork dinner. Literally some of the BEST FOOD WE'VE EVER HAD!!! Was currently carry out only, the people there were some of the nicest and friendliest to talk to. They helped us figure out our spice levels and we're just a pleasure overall. Thank you so much, can't wait to visit again!! Be sure to get a patty for the ride home 😋

The food here is absolutely wonderful! My husband and I tried the beef patties, oxtail, curried goat, jerk chicken breast, fried plantains, and rice and peas. Everything was delicious, and reminded me of eating Jamaican food in the Bronx. Thank you Carissa for the wonderful meal! We look forward to coming back again soon. :)

Happen to driving through Southern Pines and needed lunch. I am extremely happy with this decision. The jerk chicken is amazing and so juicy. The curry goat is the best I've ever had. I will definitely be stopping again if I find myself in town.

This place!!!!!!!!!! THE PEOPLE WORKING THERE ARE SO NICE!!!!! I love this place so much. I just wish that it was closer so that I could go there more often. The jerk chicken was great. The Mac and cheese was better than I thought it would be. The beef patties were AMAZING!!!! The ox tail was sweet? Which was odd. It wasn't sweet the other times I had it. It was crazy tender though. The curry chicken was ok. Wasn't spicy like the other times I had it. Next time I'm trying the jerk pork.

I don't really leave reviews but this place deserves one. I was VERY impressed with their super flavorful food and impeccable service. We had oxtail, jerk chicken, and curry shrimp. All of them were amazing. The owner is super kind and is easy to talk to. This place will give you a smile and a very full belly!

This food is bomb. Whenever I’m in Carthage usually for work I make sure I stop by. I don’t even care it’s a drive. The oxtail tender, juicy and that gravy authentic and flavorful. The cabbage, rice and peas fire. I’ve ordered the curry goat and the jerk chicken with the oxtails. Delicious!! The quantity is great also. Not to mention customer service is always friendly, owner is always smiling and remembers his customers. I mean this is island food and feeling in NC. If you’re thinking about coming and haven’t yet. Don’t cheat yourself treat yourself.

Hidden gem!!!!! Amazing place to taste some soulful Jamaican food. Went there for lunch and ordered their Jamaican Jerk chicken with curry and Goat curry set. The curry packs a punch and is balanced in spices, the meats are cooked to the right level. This is a family run business and they made us feel comfortable and notched up a conversation too. Their dedication to their restaurant shows in the tasteful cooking and affable customer service.

Food was delicious, I ordered homemade ginger beer & sorrel omg, it’s the best. We order lunch and dinner. Unexpected large portions. Food taste better when it’s cooked with love. I give it 5 stars. I love the culture & food and since relocating I finally found the flavor I’d been craving. My friend Tyrone Pipkin highly recommended this spot. Now I will highly recommend.

The Food number is on point. For Second the cashier lady made my experience so great definitely a go to go whenever in town. I absolutely need that dish I got oxtail and they were falling off the bone literally.

Food was awesome, fresh, and hot! My family is from the Caribbeans and we are very picky about our food. My 10 year old who is even pickier completely ate everything! She had the fried chicken and I had the oxtails and curry chicken. Also demolished a jerk chicken patty. If you're looking for something different in Southern Pines, this place is a hidden gem. The friendly owners even came out and spoke with us.

My wife was extremely pleased with the dinner. The peas and rice done right, the plantains perfect and the meats for both meals she ordered were tender and flavorful. Several meal choices. Very friendly, quick and customer service oriented experience. I visited today and all she said was true. I am definitely going back! The food was great!

So I've been driving passed this place for a few years now and I always think, "Man I need to stop and get a plate..." today I stopped and holy moly it's incredible. The family that runs it is super nice and makes some absolutely incredible food. We had the oxtails, goat curry, jerk chicken, and meat pies. Everything was delicious and the goat was probably the best I've ever eaten and I've eaten a lot of goats!! For real give them a go and you won't be disappointed!!! No picture of the meat pie because it was devoured before the pictures were taken.

The food was okay. Maybe a touch of more seasoning. However, I didn't like the cabbage so much. I expected way more oxtails for a large plate. The scenery was nice and clean. I'll be back to try more foods

The food here is absolutely amazing. I was first introduced to the island cuisine culture in Florida, and I have loved it ever since. When I left Florida and came back to NC I didn't think I'd ever experience such a tasty and welcoming establishment again. Thanks to Island Jerk Cuisine, it's like I haven't skipped a beat. The are such nice individuals, from the server to cook to owner. It's a great atmosphere and their food is absolutely amazing. There isn't one bad dish on the menu. I love this place and highly recommend. P.S the meat is served bone in. It's added flavor, suck the marrow out of the bones.

Tried this place when I recently came back into town to visit family. I grew up with Jamaicans so Caribbean Food is always plan A but finding a REAL Caribbean restaurant in the country, yeah right! Island Jerk Cuisine says, "hold my beer!" -- I had the Brown Stew Chicken, extremely tender, falling right off the bone! Chicken was cooked perfectly, Rice was also cooked to perfection, no clumps, not watery! The plantains were fresh! Crispy on the outside, so yummy on the inside! The plates even come with two roasted carrots! I also got the cheesy beef patty & coco bread, no explanation needed there! This definitely made it into my rotation for great restaurants in Moore county! I highly recommend!

Flavor! You choose how much spice you heat you want, but even the mild is very flavorful. We got the goat and Caribbean fried chicken and the Oxtail and jerk chicken combo plates with the vegetable soup. It was all delicious! The portions are generous and the food is authentic Caribbean cuisine. The dining room is painted in Caribbean colors and reggae-style music plays in the background. The owners are great American immigrants and the extended family operates the restaurant. Friendly, welcoming people intent or providing a good experience. Yes, we'll dine there again.

Been here twice now. Both times for lunch. Everything we have had has been great. Everyone that works here has been warm and friendly for both visits.

The food was relatively good but I was disappointed with the amount of oxtail I got for lunch. For $14 I expected a lot more. This seemed to be the only Caribbean restaurant in the area but perhaps next time I'll just wait until dinner for a bigger portion.

Delicious! And great vibes! We're lucky to have access to authentic Caribbean food in our small town. Like taking a vacation without leaving home.

First I want to say the food was very good but customer service sucked. We waited over 30 minutes for our food the waitress did not check on us to see if we needed a refill or to let us know why it was taking so long for our to be ready. The waitress couldn't remember all of our order I had to repeat myself more than once. Also we were the only ones dining in, but they did have a lot of people doing take out. Idk if the customer service was like this before Covid19 or not but I won't eat in again but b/c the food was good I will call for take out.

Yum! We had lunch here for the first time, and everything was great. Tasty, authentic food in a nice, friendly atmosphere. Portion sizes were really good, and it was a nice variety of food, with each dish complementing the others. We had chicken curry and pork curry with oxtail gravy, and both were really good. The restaurant was spotless, and everyone was very warm and welcoming. Glad they are open for lunch! We'll definitely be back.

Hate I didn't take a picture of my plate. Got the curry goat and oxtail combo and both were great. Jerk wings app was flavorful too. Food is authenticate and with large portions. Will definetly go again.
