Sri Lanka Is Drawing Visitors After Years of Turmoil — Here's How to Visit

"A tiny artisanal ice‑cream shop on Pedlar Street known for high-quality, small-batch flavors — including vegan options — that have earned it a devoted local following despite its compact size." - Prasad Ramamurthy Prasad Ramamurthy Prasad Ramamurthy is a former Condé Nast Traveller, India editor with over two decades of reporting experience. The flavors are inventive. The shop has a bright, cozy vibe and friendly staff who make you feel welcome. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but the quality and taste easily make it worth it. A must-visit for dessert and coffee lovers!

I visited Isle of Gelato at Galle Fort on a Sunday evening. It was quite crowded, with both locals and tourists. They have a big variety of ice creams for about LKR 1000 each (cup or cone). We tried blueberry and Oreo – both were really good, and the portions were generous. One cup is enough for two people to share. The customer service was nice, and they have seating upstairs, indoors, and outside.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Must-Visit in Galle Fort! Isle of Gelato is an absolute gem and a must-visit if you’re exploring Galle Fort! They offer an impressive variety of gelato flavors, refreshing sorbets, and even affogato – all made with rich, authentic flavors that truly stand out. Every scoop we tried was incredibly creamy and packed with taste. The quality and creativity of their offerings make it a treat for both locals and tourists. Highly recommended for anyone with a sweet tooth or just looking to cool down in the Galle heat!

If you’re in the mood for refreshing fruit-based sorbets in a modern setting, Isle of Gelato won’t disappoint. Also Vegan options available you get the very taste of Srilanka’s Coconut. Enjoyed every spoon, go for it. Highly Recommend.

I stopped by Isle of Gelato during my visit to Galle Fort, and it turned out to be a great little spot to cool down and take a break. I tried two flavors — passion fruit and coconut — both were full of tropical flavor and really refreshing. The passion fruit had that perfect balance of tangy and sweet, while the coconut was creamy and smooth, just like you'd expect from a good island gelato. The vibe of the place is chill, making it a nice spot to hang out for a bit. There's an upstairs seating area, which is a cool idea, but it could definitely use a bit of maintenance — maybe a refresh to match the quality of the gelato downstairs. All in all, a solid stop for a sweet treat while exploring the fort.

I had this one particular flavour which I felt like chocolate in the form of ice cream. Every bite of it was sooooo good. I can’t remember the exact name but it was something that tasted like milk chocolate. Most of their stuff I’ve tried is good.

Dropped by Isle of Gelato, Galle @isleofgelato and honestly can’t even remember what I ordered — but it was super good! Definitely a must-try after dinner to wrap things up on a sweet note. Staff was really helpful and nice, and they’ve got a cozy upstairs seating area too. Only downside was the blocked bathrooms and super low water pressure — hope they sort that out soon! #IsleOfGelato #GalleEats #GelatoTime #DessertStop #SweetToothFix #SriLankaFoodie #GalleVibes #FoodieFinds #TravelSriLanka #DessertLover #FoodieAdventures #Foodie #Foodporn #InstaFood #FoodPhotography #Delicious #Yummy #Foodgasm #LKA #SriLanka #Foodie #Love #Explore #InstaGood #PhotoOfTheDay

We tried 2 flavors of ice-cream (vegan chocolate & salted caramel) and coffee (cappuccino). Both the ice-cream and coffee tasted great. Good place to take a break while you explore the fort. The shop is very cosy and the staff are super friendly, specially the barista named Rishan.
