"Just south of the Kalinago Territory, this rustic hilltop bar overlooks Castle Bruce Beach. Dig into Creole specialties like callaloo soup, fried plantains, and grilled chicken, best washed down with infused “bush rums.’” Each politically inspired rum features a hand-lettered label, revealing ingredientsranging from hibiscus and pawpaw to more esoteric flavors like olive, eggplant, and lizard. Says proprietor Morris “Rudy” Smith, the “Obama tastes the best. He is a smooth fellow, full of everything good for you.”"

Dominica's Unique Dishes are Unlike Anything You've Ever Tasted - AFAR

"A scenic, word-of-mouth dining spot overlooking Castle Bruce beach that serves fresh, fruit-accented meals; locals recommend cocoa tea with coconut milk for breakfast, while curry chicken and stewed chicken are must-tries at lunch. The simple-yet-sweet dessert plate features sugarcane, mango and pineapple, and the real draw for rum lovers is an impressive collection of more than 50 homemade bush rums flavored in-house—ranging from mango and cherry to unexpected notes like beet and carrot—displayed in handprinted bottles." - AFAR

This place has an awesome view but it was a very unpleasant experience for us. The curried chicken was mostly bones and though the plate had variety it was small portions compared to other stops on the island. The real shock came when we went to pay. $25 EC was expected for each plate but another $40 EC was added for two natural juices, one of which wasn’t even ordered. The ice had small flies frozen inside. Best to steer clear. All tourist - no locals. $90 EC is way overpriced for what we received and we felt ripped off.

We stopped for an early lunch while sightseeing in the area and they were still serving breakfast. It was delicious!! Salted fish, boiled banana, salad and fresh squeezed passion/guava juice. Friendly people and nice atmosphere. We left feeling so refreshed.

At first glance, this little restaurant may not seem like anything exceptional from the outside, but the moment you step in, everything changes. The dining area offers a beautiful view, and you’ll be eating on a covered terrace, still open enough to enjoy the fresh air. The building is made of natural materials, adding to its charm, and prices are reasonable. However, one unique aspect is the lack of a printed menu with prices. When we asked, the chef simply told us, “We have chicken and fish.” When we inquired about a vegetarian option for some in our group, they responded, “We’ll prepare something good for you… whatever we have.” That’s the essence of this place—they cook what’s available that day. So, we decided to trust them, and we were not disappointed. Every dish was fresh, well-prepared, and full of local flavors. When they offered dessert, we accepted, and a beautifully arranged plate of fresh fruit arrived—the best I’ve ever had. Overall, highly recommended! If I had one curiosity, it would be to take a look inside the kitchen for hygiene standards... but hey, I never asked! Would definitely return if and when back to Dominca!
