Islet View Restaurant & Bar

We were advised by our boiling lake hike guide, Elvis, to have lunch at the Islet View Restaurant. We probably would not have stopped at this place without his advice. From the outside this place looks a little bit shabby and therefore not a lot of tourists have discovered this restaurant. When we walked in we immediately were welcomed by a stunning view over Castle Bruce and the st. David Bay. The choices on the menu are limited but we ordered some local specialties which were really fantastic. As a desert we got a birthday cake. Apparently Elvis informed Rudy about my wife’s birthday and the surprise of the birthday cake and Rudy singing along Happy Birthday made this a moment to remember a lifetime. Whenever you are into exploring the local cuisine, great service of lovely people and an impressive view, you should visit Rudy’s Islet View restaurant.

This place has an awesome view but it was a very unpleasant experience for us. The curried chicken was mostly bones and though the plate had variety it was small portions compared to other stops on the island. The real shock came when we went to pay. $25 EC was expected for each plate but another $40 EC was added for two natural juices, one of which wasn’t even ordered. The ice had small flies frozen inside. Best to steer clear. All tourist - no locals. $90 EC is way overpriced for what we received and we felt ripped off.

We stopped for an early lunch while sightseeing in the area and they were still serving breakfast. It was delicious!! Salted fish, boiled banana, salad and fresh squeezed passion/guava juice. Friendly people and nice atmosphere. We left feeling so refreshed.

At first glance, this little restaurant may not seem like anything exceptional from the outside, but the moment you step in, everything changes. The dining area offers a beautiful view, and you’ll be eating on a covered terrace, still open enough to enjoy the fresh air. The building is made of natural materials, adding to its charm, and prices are reasonable. However, one unique aspect is the lack of a printed menu with prices. When we asked, the chef simply told us, “We have chicken and fish.” When we inquired about a vegetarian option for some in our group, they responded, “We’ll prepare something good for you… whatever we have.” That’s the essence of this place—they cook what’s available that day. So, we decided to trust them, and we were not disappointed. Every dish was fresh, well-prepared, and full of local flavors. When they offered dessert, we accepted, and a beautifully arranged plate of fresh fruit arrived—the best I’ve ever had. Overall, highly recommended! If I had one curiosity, it would be to take a look inside the kitchen for hygiene standards... but hey, I never asked! Would definitely return if and when back to Dominca!

This is an awesome gem of a restaurant in Dominica. The food was fantastic and the view amazing. Plus a huge variety of rum.

Very nice place ,best point of view of Castle Bruce . The owner is very professional and kind .Cocktails and food are fresh and local thank you Rudy for the excellent moment and see you friday
