Issho Izakaya & Sushi - All You Can Eat

Google
We ordered a variety of dishes: sushi rolls, Hamachi with jalapeño, a Katsu children’s curry meal, spicy miso ramen, and Hamachi neck. Overall, the experience was average, nothing was bad, but it didn’t quite stand out among other nearby options. The Hamachi with jalapeño was the best dish of the night, fresh, bright, and full of flavor. The Alaskan roll was also solid, with clean presentation and fresh ingredients. The Katsu curry leaned salty and needed rice to balance it, but was still enjoyable. The Hamachi neck was fried perfectly, crispy outside, tender inside, and delivered exactly what we expected. The spicy miso ramen was the most underwhelming dish. The noodles were fine, but the broth had an unusual, beefy taste that lacked the depth and richness I typically expect from good ramen. The toppings, including pork and fish cake, were cooked well but didn’t save the dish. I wouldn’t order it again, especially with stronger ramen spots in the area. A pleasant surprise was the popcorn shrimp, which the chef sent out on the house. This was a standout dish—lightly breaded, perfectly crunchy, and made with large, juicy shrimp that weren’t overcooked. It had a subtle mix of spice and sweetness that worked beautifully. This was easily the second-best dish of the night, right behind the Hamachi with jalapeño. The restaurant also had Asahi and Sapporo on draft, which was a nice touch, and the interior décor was warm and cozy for a strip-mall location. Bottom line: Issho is a fine choice for a casual sushi stop or light lunch if you’re nearby. The sushi and select appetizers shine, but not all dishes hit the mark.

I recently dined at a Issho Izakaya, the restaurant served up a fantastic lineup of comfort food classics, and I’m still thinking about it. From soups to crispy bites, everything felt authentic, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. On top of that, the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. If you're craving a warm, comforting meal with a mix of textures and flavors, this place hits the mark. I’ll definitely be back—probably for another round of Nabe and Ramen!

I stopped by this new sushi spot on May 15 and overall had a good experience. The food was fresh and tasty, and they had a happy hour which made it even better value. The ingredients were good quality, and everything was nicely presented. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that no one came to check on us during the meal. A simple “How’s everything?” would’ve made the service feel more complete. Still, I think this place has great potential and I’m happy to support a new local business. I’ll definitely be back to try more from the menu! Went back a couple days ago (07/10) and had an even better experience this time. One of the staff members, a friendly woman, actually recognized me and greeted me with a warm “Welcome back!” It was such a nice touch. The food was just as fresh and tasty as before, and this time someone did come by to ask how everything was, which I really appreciated. Overall, it was a solid visit. I’m happy to see things getting better, and I’ll definitely keep coming back to support this place.

Google
I stumbled upon this sushi spot by accident, and I’m so glad I did, it’s hands down the best and highest quality sushi I’ve had in a long time. The menu is reasonably priced for the freshness and quality you get, which makes the experience even better. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, we never had to ask for anything twice, and the service was quick without feeling rushed. Our food arrived within five minutes of ordering, and every dish was absolutely delicious. A hidden gem I’ll definitely be coming back to!

Google
The sushi and sashimi are fresh and of great quality. The lunch special is well worth it. it comes with soup and salad. The service is excellent, and the staff are all friendly and cheerful. The skewers are also delicious. However, the seaweed in the handrolls was too soft. it would be better if it were crispier. Overall, though, everything was quite good. Just offering this as constructive feedback. Wishing all the staff and the owner continued success!

Google
I love that this type of restaurant opened up in my neighborhood. It feels like a place you’d find downtown DC. The atmosphere, ambiance, decor, the service was amazing, they are really friendly and accommodating. The garlic rice was amazing and the green tea cocktail. Looking forward to returning.

Google
I liked the interior design and how they've decorated the space. The sushi rolls were just okay. The assorted tempura was good, but pricey for being mostly veggies. I liked the nabe as the broth was yummy and a big portion of food (although there was an overwhelming amount of cabbage).

Yelp
Not a lot of AYCE in Annandale but this spot is a good choice if you don't want to travel outside of Annandale. The mood lighting is pretty relaxing and the parking was easy. The sushi was fresh and I loved the fact that their shoyu bowl and grilled meats are not the biggest but a good portion. This way, you don't get full with the ramen and you can enjoy more of the other items on the menu. The service was also pretty fast and our sever kept checking on us while allowing us to enjoy our meal as well.
google avatar

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful inside. Felt like I was transported to Japan. Opted for the AYCE option. Miso soup and seaweed salad were delicious. All the fish was extremely fresh. What impressed me was the sushi rice. It was cooked n seasoned with precision. The only things I did not enjoy was the pork belly n bulgogi. The belly was overcooked, lacked seasoning n fat cap. Bulgoi was way to sweet. Service was great. Have to give the ladies credit as they're running around doing so much. I will be coming back again soon.

Yelp
Amazing! I came here after coming from getting my eyebrows done and I'm so glad I did! This place is another extremely festive and adorably decorative restaurant that has some great food! Because I came in during the Halloween season they had decorations already out. The restaurant menu has a variety of Asian cuisine items: sushi, ramen, noodles of all kinds, and I believe it's called yakitori (sp) basically a variety of meats on a stick. I stuck again to some simple sushi choices or my yellowtail add cream cheese, salmon belly which was so luscious and melted in my mouth, and toro toro tuna roll. All the rolls were so good and I wish I would sauce ordered more to go! Now the drinks I tried weee a lemon drop, lychee martini, mai tai, and a mango drink I believe I can't remember the name. All tasted so fresh and hit the spot! Now they are quite expensive but we in the DMV everything is a little bit overpriced...lol The only bad side was the ramen only has pork as their soup base so I couldn't partake in the ramen which was really disappointing. Other than that the waitress was really attentive and the bathrooms were clean! 10/10 would recommend all day!

Yelp
3.5 stars! Very cool spot in a shopping center already with a few food options. My wife and I tried the salmon/tuna tacos, appetizer sampler, negitori roll, chicken heart skewers, strawberry crepe cake and yuzu cheesecake. The tacos were pretty good, offered a generous portion of fish. The appetizer sampler was alright, pretty mediocre to be honest. I liked the pickles and the spicy octopus. The seaweed and tamago were meh. The chicken hearts and negitori were not bad. Dessert was very inconsistent. We loved the yuzu cheesecake but the strawberry crepe cake was extremely hard, which was disappointing. Not sure if it was in the freezer too long beforehand or what. I've had a lot of crepe cakes in the past and they were all super soft. Service was pretty good. Might stop by again if it's convenient.

Yelp
Update! They have ayce sushi now too. They include some premium ones such as toro and yellowtail belly. They also offer some other selections of cooked meats and appetizers. I like the option to mix nigiri and sashimi. Plus, they dont cut the fish paper thin and pile on a bunch of rice. Rice portion and taste is good and fish is fresh. We have been here a few times since and enjoy it!

Yelp
First things first, I absolutely abhor the tipping culture in the US. I was here with my family (party of 4) and we enjoyed a beautiful meal. Since it was lunch, we felt a 15% tip was very reasonable and paid for it with my credit card. However, when I reviewed my credit card bill later, I realized a 18% tip was automatically added by the restaurant instead of the 15% I had signed for. I really wanted to love this restaurant, but dishonest billing is to me unethical. The restaurant is beautiful. It was easy to make a reservation, although there was plenty of space on a Saturday. The food was delicious, especially the yakitori which my sister was craving and did not disappoint. There was a great variety of Japanese food and everything was cooked very well. The food was also very reasonably priced, which we were very appreciative of. The server was respectful. And I love places that offer a complementary hot tea as they do in Asia. Easy Plaza parking. Overall amazing five star experience. Shame on the tipping situation.

Yelp
We came for AYCE sushi, but the izakaya items ended up outshining the sushi by a lot. The gyoza had a thin, crispy skin with a great snap and a surprisingly succulent filling, and the tori karaage was tender, juicy, and super flavorful, especially with their dipping sauce. The nigiri fish quality was actually good--seabass, flounder, and salmon were all solid, while the yellowtail was just okay--but the rice really brought everything down. It was dense and not well-seasoned, which made the nigiri less enjoyable. The popcorn shrimp had an extremely thin, almost caramelized crisp, but it was smothered in too much sauce. The sashimi bowl was also a letdown; the menu says "3 each," but it was just three pieces total, and the slices were the same ones used for nigiri, just without the (already mediocre) sushi rice. Overall, the fish quality is there, but the AYCE sushi selection is limited and not very exciting. We enjoyed the izakaya-style dishes far more than the sushi itself.

Yelp
I absolutely love the decoration of this place! It gives off a very cool and chill environment! Definitely a good place to celebrate or even a date night. My friend and I shared the truffle udon pasta and some sushi and sashimi. The sushi and sashimi were pretty standard. Nothing to be "wowed" about but still pretty tasty. Now the star of the show...THE TRUFFLE UDON PASTA!!!! It was buttery and had a good truffle flavor to it. I would HIGHLY recommend this dish! I would definitely come back to try out some other dishes!

Yelp
Food was really tasty and the inside of the restaurant is beautiful. The outside is deceiving since it doesn't look very fancy from the outside, but don't judge a book by its cover! Food was fresh, staff were friendly, I would go again!

Yelp
Had a group dinner here for a friends birthday. Showed up around 6 pm Friday to a near empty restaurant (it was full by the time we left). I thought the food was just good/ okay, nothing exceptional. Service was good but kind of slow. They have happy hour appetizers until 7!! Unheard of. We ordered the torikara, yakitori set, beef belly nabe, katsu curry, and soba. Torikara- similar to chicken karaage but better! Larger pieces and fried well. Good, I would get again. Beef belly nabe- like shabu with an entire head of cabbage and beef. Broth is savory, flavorful, and not salty. It also has the slightest kick. Really good, would get this again! Katsu curry- also good, as expected. The curry smell gets to me sometimes even though I love Japanese curry. The pork was fried well. The menu labeled it spicy but I didn't think it was spicy at all and I'm pretty sensitive to heat. Yakitori set was mid, nothing special. Everything has the same soy sauce glaze. I liked the spicy powder for dipping. My favorite Yaki was the beef even though it was dry/ overcooked Enoki maki- I also enjoyed this Garlic and ginko- I didn't even eat. I would've loved to try something else instead; I wish I asked to substitute. They should add shishito peppers to the menu it's usually my favorite Pork belly- kind of dry Chicken thigh was just okay mostly bc the soy sauce glaze was meh My friend had the truffle udon and said it's good but gets too rich after a few bites. We were sat in the private room- it's super cute with turf lined wall and flowers. It was neutral temp when we first sat then it got progressively hotter throughout dinner- I would've loved more air. Yes, automatic 20% gratuity for large parties. Parking lot is small and fills up quickly, but there's more parking on the other end of the strip mall. Sit at the bar for a fun dining experience!

Yelp
Happy to say this has become a semi-regular Sunday lunch spot with my sister :) The interior is very well-done and cozy with some pretty ambient lighting. The staff are also very friendly and helpful, and since it's a smaller space you can always be sure the staff can attend to your needs effectively. The food is excellent and at a very reasonable price compared to similar restaurants. All meals start with a small salad. I usually start with the enomaki yakitori (not pictured) as an appetizer. The pork belly and mushroom skewer was delicious and doesn't taste as fatty as you'd expect for pork belly. The salmon belly sashimi was also amazing, very refreshing with that melt-in-your-mouth texture that I love in sashimi. My main dish was the shoyu ramen. I went a little overboard with the appetizers so I was worried the ramen would make me feel lethargic, but the broth was perfect! I would definitely recommend Issho, especially if you're looking for a more intimate experience like a date or catching up with a friend.
google avatar

Cale S.

Yelp
Issho is by far my favorite sushi restaurant so far in the area. I was greeted and sat right away in a nice, private room with nice lighting and music. I got the all you can eat and did not regret one thing. The nigiri and sashimi tasted very fresh, the sushi was great, flavorful and fresh. 100% looking forward to going back again.

Yelp
A friend recommended this place and I had to come check it out. I was not disappointed! The restaurant itself is beautiful. Loved the seating and flow of the restaurant. The service was excellent our waitress gave us great recommendations. Now let get down to the food. We had the shrimp tempura, garlic edamame, for my main meal I ordered Katsu curry with miso soup and my husband had Kurobuta Tonkatsu. He also ordered peppermint cucumber drink and I had the corn tea. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing this meal was. So tasty and the presentation was beautifully done. We will definitely be back to try new dishes on the menu.

Yelp
Super cute izakaya in Annandale! Vibe was very cozy-- perfect for a girls night out. Service was fast and good. Food though, was a bit of a hit or miss. - Nigiri: 2/10 (the fish was veryyy fishy... didn't seem fresh at all) - Mala nabe with udon: 10/10 (loved the Mala flavor and the portion size was hugeee) - Skewer set: 10/10 (fantastic assortment of skewers. They were all solid.) - Yuzu highball: 8/10 (a bit on the sweeter side) Overall, I'll definitely be back! But I will not be ordering any sushi. Maybe I'll try the rolls next time.
google avatar

Melina K.

Yelp
Hidden gem in Annandale. Lovely ambiance and decorations inside. Private rooms too. Food was decadent and very tasty. A complimentary salad is included as an appetizer. Kind waiter with quick service.

Yelp
We ordered the: 1. Salmon Sashimi 2. Truffle Udon - My Favorite! 3. Tonkatsu 4. Yakitori Set 5. Green Tea Mont Blanc Cake! The sushi from here is very good - the fish is surprisingly really fresh, leading to a refreshing taste. The truffle udon is immaculate!! Perfect amount of truffle oil so that it's nice, smooth, and flavorful - but not too much that your stomach would be upset. I normally don't like fried things/tonkatsu, but they made it really well here - not too batter-y! Nice crunch, and paired well w/ the sauce and rice. The yakitori set is a classic and an easy way to try all the meats. And it was my first time trying a mont blanc, and so it was interesting, but it was good - not too sweet! Service was good. Waitress checked in often. And the price was very reasonable for the amount of food that they gave - bang for your buck!

Yelp
Came on a Thursday night, and wasn't crowded at all! Our server was sooo kind, friendly, and attentive. Even the manager checked on us. The place is cutely decorated with Japanese posters and decorations. In the middle of our dinner, it randomly got very dim all of the sudden LOL but there are cute little lamps at every table. We got the Truffle Udon, Yakitori Set, Hamachi Kama (yellowtail cheek/jaw), and Beef Belly Nabe. I loved everything except the yakitori. I haven't had any yakitori I loved in this area. They're usually not flavorful enough and no smokiness. Ok, but I dream about the truffle udon. The noodles were a nice chew and bounce. It was more like a stir-fry with subtle truffle flavor. It was nicely topped with tiny cheese balls, scallions, and fish roe. The hamachi was more pan-fried than grilled, but still delicious. Came with lemon and soy sauce + wasabi. The nabe was sooo good. It could easily feed 4 people if you're getting other things. They will cook 80% of it in the kitchen and then cook the rest at your table on a burner. They say you have to wait til it boils to eat. It did take a while (almost 10 minutes), but was so worth it. It was so flavorful and hearty!!
google avatar

Emily G.

Yelp
We enjoyed a nice meal with friends here. The interior decor does emulate an Izakaya experience. I enjoyed most of the food. The roll didn't wow me and it was pricey. However the nabes (Japanese hot pot) were large portions for a decent price. At least 2 people could share one nabe. Unfortunately noodles are an extra $2.50, and my partner later commented that he wished the noodle portion was bigger given the additional price. Service was good; I personally liked that we were able to enjoy our meal for a solid time without feeling rushed or having staff come by every 20 minutes to check in on us. I would't mind coming back to this spot in the future.
google avatar

Loan L.

Yelp
The interior is to die for, so cute! I came here a couple of time, pretty affordable and good quality sushi. I think it's cool they have 3 options for uni, so you're able to try, my favorite is the Hokkaido uni. They also have the wagyu "stone" where you can cook it yourself. The servers are super nice and welcoming, they even gave me a personal spot every time I come.
google avatar

Rayne W.

Yelp
We came on a cloudy and rainy night during the week so decided to get the seafood nabe and yakitori set. The nabe had a flavorful light broth with shrimps and scallops and a mix of tofu, mushroom and vegetables; wish it had more seafood and less cabbage. Yakitori set allowed you to try all seven skewers which were well grilled with a little too much sauce on the bottom of the plate. Next time, we will have to try more sushi and sashimi as I really liked the sushi appetizer! I tried the tako wasabi which had too much salt and jalapeño peppers for my taste so I'm glad they had some salad available. Service was quick and attentive. I appreciated that our waitress took the time to let us know each type of skewer and answered a question we had about the chef's choice for the appetizer sampler. Also, she gave us a tip to wait 5-8 minutes before eating the nabe. Decor and ambiance really nice with many different seating options from tables to bar to VIP private rooms. Will have to try sitting at the sushi bar next time to try more sushi and sashimi. Food: 7/10 Service: 7/10 Ambiance: 8/10

Yelp
New to the city, right in the heart of Annandale! The service was great, the hostess and servers were really nice and stopped by often. [Food: 5 out of 5] -Crazy Dragon Roll: tempura shrimp, cucumber with eel, spicy crab, and tobiko on top. Luckily the cucumber wasnt over powering - just a hint of freshness. -Tempura Udon: the udon noodle was cooked perfectly; the broth tasted light and delicious. The dish came with fried (tempura) shrimp, enoki and bell peppers - they were lightly fried and not super breaded. -Katsu Curry: I am not a huge fan of Japanese curry but this dish was sooo good that we had to order an additional plate. The curry tasted perfect and the katsu was hot and juicy. (This dish still tasted delicious even after being microwaved as a leftover). I'm super excited to come back to try their other dishes.. Highly recommend their Katsu Curry!!

Yelp
Very solid all around. We went here for a date night and wanted to focus on sushi. Every roll we ordered was delicious, which rarely happens for me. Many times one of us will prefer something and we'll divide up what's left, but everything was great! Next visit we'll get other items, but it's nice to know the sushi is solid. The service was incredibly friendly. We didn't wait very long before our food was ready. I would say very fairly priced. There are other spots that are definitely more expensive that also try too hard. This place feels like a good balance of aesthetic, well run, and tasty.

Yelp
We ordered the Luxury taste in the sushi Taco section. It was a few pieces of fish with seaweed instead of taco shells, for $20. It was worth it. We ordered the Udon, and it was very clean. Not salty or greasy at all. The meals came with miso soup, one plain bowl of rice came with the sashimi platter after a very fresh salad with lettuce and red sliced onions. The waiter was very prompt and the manager even came out to check on us. Great service and a beautiful restaurant.

Benita N.

Yelp
Came here twice, and about to go a third. Sushi is insanely good. The premium cuts on the AYCE menu melts in your mouth. Pork belly is so soft. There wasn't a single thing ordered that we didn't love !!
google avatar

Khanh-Chau M.

Yelp
I have been here three times already and have gotten the beef belly nabe every single time because it's so tasty! I love the variety in the menu too so I can try a lot of things whenever I'm here and share with people. I like their beef nabe, their sushi rolls, truffle udon (I personally liked the light flavour of it but it may seem bland to others), and yakitori set with seven different skewers (I liked the beef and peppers the best). I've had a don dish here and thought it was okay. I've had their drinks before too and some may be a bit sweet to my liking. The service is quick and attentive, the manager and the rest of the staff are really nice! I like the decor and space in the spot. I don't typically come during a busy day or time so I never have to worry about business and it's generally peaceful for me!
google avatar

Rebia B.

Yelp
Vibes were there! The restaurant was beautiful and clean. The waitress was very nice and friendly. The food didn't quite hit for me. If you're coming only get the sushi and sashimi. The tempura was soooooo oily and the sauce had no flavor. It was $26 for oily mush. The yakitori just wasn't worth it. The portion/flavor vs the cost was not worth it. The sashimi really saved our experience. The cuts were really similar and we were hoping for more variety. Unfortunately we won't be back but wish this place the best.
google avatar

Steven T.

Yelp
You know when a new Japanese restaurant opens up, I have to check it out! I started with the Yakitori Set that had one of each of their yakitori: Shishito Peppers, Tsukune (chicken meatball), Pork Belly wrapped Enoki, Pork Belly, Chicken Thigh, Chicken Hearts and Beef Skirt. I thought the flavors of the Yakitori were great - slight grill flavor and slightly sweet/tangy from the light sauce coating. My favorite was definitely the Pork Belly wrapped Enoki! The udon was also really good. The interior was nice and new with a modern vibe to it. Service was also friendly and attentive. Apps: Yakitori Set Entrees: Truffle Udon

Yelp
Sushi is very good quality. The appearance of the the dishes are outstanding. Atmoshere is very nicely decorated to go along with the delicious dishes. Staff is very nice and attentive. Very enjoyable experience!

Yelp
What do you get when you put skewers, sea urchin and A5 Wagyu together? A 5 star dinner! This was probably the best meal I have had in a long time. The sea urchin (Maine) was incredible. I had chicken thigh skewer and a skirt steak skewer, while my wife and daughter shared a Japanese hot pot. We all shared the 8 pieces of A5 Wagyu that we got to grill at the table, which comes with caviar. It just melts in your mouth! I would give this meal better than 5 stars if I could, I had sea urchin and A5 Wagyu, both my favorite foods, at one sitting. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Was able to put on a waitlist on a busy weekday night. The wait wasn't too bad, it's only for 30 minutes. Service - not sure if they are understaffed or our server is new, but it took 20 minutes from seating to see our server greet us. And the theme is the same for the rest of our dinner. We rarely see him and our drinks took awhile to get to us. The food came out fast though so that is a plus. But other than that, this is one of the slowest service that we got in a long long time. Food - all the ones we ordered are very good. There's nothing that we didn't like. Ambience - it's a beautiful place. Very quaint and they have some private rooms in the back The service wasn't bad, it's just slow. Our waiter is MIA most of the time. If you come here and expect fast service, you will need to be patience. If you are in hurry, I would suggest to come back in a few months and see if it will get better.

Yelp
I wish I could give this a 4.5, but a 4.0 will do for now. The atmosphere of this place is impeccable. We were a party of 8 and we got our own private room and there seemed to be plenty of them too. I noticed that the customer service of this place was unlike other restaurants in the area. The service staff were SO kind and accommodating! As for the food, i really wanted to try the sushi tacos but they were sold out when we went. So i got a few of the Yakatori and they were pretty good. Pork belly was my favorite of the ones i tried. The picante salmon roll was soooo good that i had to order another. Lastly, the garlic bomber rice was a delicious umami dish if you love garlic, you'll enjoy it. We certainly did. The drinks were pretty good but i would have loved to see a few more unique ones. I got the mango twister and i enjoyed it. I want to go back and try the sushi tacos next time!

Yelp
I had pretty high expectations for this place after seeing it on social media, but unfortunately, it was quite a letdown. The ambiance was nice and the service was fair, but my main issue was the food. Maybe I need to try other dishes on the menu, but the ones I did try were pretty awful. The truffle udon was overly greasy--I could only take a couple of bites. It basically tasted like oily udon with parmesan. The garlic bomber rice was also very salty. The only dish we genuinely enjoyed was the Ikageso Karaage.

Yelp
Overall, 3.5/5 but will bump it to a 4/5 because they're still in their soft opening stages and if they fine tune a few things, there will be room for improvement. My friend and I wanted to try the new izakaya that just opened in the Annandale area, so we grabbed dinner this past Monday night. Given the chilly December weather, we were craving something soupy. Between the two of us, we shared a yakitori platter and got our own soupy entree. YAKITORI SET (7 PCS) - 21 The yakitori set comes with all seven skewers, which would be 29.00 if you wanted to buy them separately. Our favorites were the pork belly and enoki mushroom wrapped with pork belly -- both were juicy and flavorful. The enoki one had a nice crunch. The chicken thigh was pretty good, too, because it was cooked well. However, the beef outside skirt, chicken thigh meatballs and chicken heart were a bit of a let down. The first two skewers were dry and I personally didn't like the mixture of the chicken meatballs. The chicken heart didn't have that distinct crunch I was looking for. Not a fan of shishito peppers, so I skipped. Overall, just OK. BEEF BELLY NABE - 25 Pretty fancy and comes with a little portable stove to heat up the nabe and keep it hot and fresh throughout the meal. The broth had a strong dashi flavor with a bit of sweetness, but I thought it was overall too salty. There were only a 5-6 pieces of beef belly, 3 pieces of tofu, 2 halves of a shiitake mushroom and some napa cabbage, onion, and scallions. This doesn't come with any carbs (no rice or noodles), so it's not the most filling. About 15 minutes into the nabe, all the ingredients soaked up a lot of the broth (which is good usually, but again, too salty, unfortunately). Overall, good concept, but the sodium levels were too high and I didn't feel full from eating this. Our server Linh was fantastic and she made sure we always had enough hot teas (which come in these cute ceramic cups with cats on them). Given some time, I'm sure Issho will improve and be better. Perhaps I'll try the sushi items during a future visit. My friend's shoyu ramen's broth was flavorful and not overly rich, and she enjoyed her ramen, overall.

Yelp
Overall - not satisfied with the visit but willing to give it another try once they work out the kinks in operations Food/Drink: 3/10 Expected flavors, tiny portions (nabe was advertised to feed 4 but really only feeds 1-2) for the asking price. Good drink selection. Will likely only order drinks in future visits. Service: 2/10 Friendly staff but management could a lot of improvements. The house was backed up leading to terribly long waiting times, order mistakes, and multiple failed attempts to flag down the waiter. Ambiance: 8/10 Good ambiance and really nice that they have rooms for larger parties. Effort appreciated in terms of interior design and layout. Overall, am not keen on visiting again any time in the immediate future but hopeful that fixes will be made for future customers.

Yelp
Our server got our order wrong... extra salmon belly and toro. He also confused the regular salmon and the salmon belly also. Crunchy garlic cucumber has 0 crunchy garlic. They said the garlic is in the sauce. Maybe change the name. She did change it out for us with the edamame. Which was pretty good. Was greeted right when we walked in. Manager/owner Emily was friendly. Favorite was the scallop carpaccio! Will try again when they're done with soft opening.

Yelp
Actually was very disappointed with this new Izakaya spot. I came in on a Friday night and the first impression was good- the decoration and vibes were modern. As for the food, I got the yakitori, picante salmon roll, and truffle udon and here's where the problem starts rolling in. The yakitori itself was nothing special. The truffle udon was lukewarm at best- almost cold, and the noodles were soggy. The picante salmon roll took 40 minutes to come out AFTER we had already finished the rest of our food because the server messed up the order with another table. I would've been less upset if the rolls were good, but the salmon had this weird refrigerator taste and did not seem fresh. The server and manager(?) apologized for the delay in the food coming out, but it didn't fully make up for the bad experience here. Hopefully it was only because they were relatively new, and they'll continue to improve.

Yelp
I saw this place across the street a few weeks back and was excited for it to open. Upon trying the restaurant I'm happy to note that they really do serve many Japanese dishes and it's not a Korean restaurant disguised as a Japanese one. I arrived late to the dinner but the dishes I tried were wonderful. You can definitely get melt in your mouth sushi here and the appetizers were great as well. Linh, who was our server was great and really knew what to suggest on the drink menu. I think this place looks great and they definitely paid attention to the details when considering the ambience to make this a place you can goto relax. I highly recommend this place and will be coming back.

Yelp
Service is excellent. Food is hit and miss. The ala carte sushi we ordered salmon belly having had that in other sushi places. What was served wasnt belly at all, was charged for a premium price since its a belly but it wasnt what was brought out. Same thing with the kurobota the dish wasnt kurobota at all since there was no layer of fat so the meat was dry. It looked promising but was disappointed. Ambiance was casual and unusually cold. There was a slight sewer smell by the entrance.

Yelp
Had a great time at Issho. We tried variety of food, I personally thought yakitori set was a good value. The servers were very attentive and will come back soon for different dishes!

Yelp
Another sushi place in Annandale? Just means another place to enjoy and eat at! :) this sushi place is the closest to my house. Has the usual sushi menu but their hot stone pot with seafood was delicious! I wish I could eat like 3 pots of it. I would definitely come back for the tuna rolls. Everything tasted fresh. Thank you for the experience!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. My husband and I came in for a Monday lunch date, and right from the start, the service was off. We weren't greeted or seated promptly -- instead, we stood by the entrance as one of the servers walked past us and even gave us side glances. When we were finally seated, no one introduced themselves or explained anything about the menu or service. We each ordered one entrée, and I was genuinely excited to try more dishes. After finishing a small portion, I decided to order a miso soup as a light palate cleanser before ordering more food. However, it was extremely difficult to get our server's attention -- she kept rushing past our table without checking in once. When I finally managed to order the miso soup, about 10 minutes later another server came by and tossed the check on our table -- even though we never asked for it. I never received my soup, never got to order more food, and left still hungry. No one refilled our water, checked on us, or even shared their name. Meanwhile, we noticed every other table around us being served attentively -- except ours. As the only non-Korean, interracial couple in the restaurant, it felt very uncomfortable, unwelcoming, and honestly disheartening. I don't usually leave reviews like this, but the poor service made what should've been a nice lunch date a really unpleasant experience. I hope management takes this feedback seriously -- every guest deserves to feel welcomed and treated with respect.

Yelp
So many "Izakaya" opening these past few years. To really set yourself apart, you gotta up the ambience, decor, and service. Issho did not do the best job to differentiate themselves from the rest. Not horrible, but also not memorable. Got the sushi and it's okay. I'd rather get sushi from somewhere else. Maybe I'd come back to try something else, but for now, this place is just a 3 star.

Yelp
It was our first time trying this place for my boyfriend's birthday, and we had a great experience. The restaurant was nicely decorated and very clean, making it a great spot for a simple date meal. We ordered a lot, and everything was just as good except the grill fish was a little bit dry and cake's texture was hard. Quality of the food was good but it can be pricey. Our server was new, but she was kind and did her best to explain the dishes.

Yelp
Located in Annandale, this Izakaya offers a good selection of Japanese dishes. You would be very impressed with the interior. The ambiance is perfect for date nights, friends gathering or even a family outing. The service is excellent- the staff is very tentative and helpful. The complementary hot tea is great. My friend enjoyed her salmon roll and gyoza. However, I was disappointed with the motsu nabe (beef belly hot pot). The broth is lacking, the vegetables weren't cooked enough and it came with large pieces of meat that aren't really the type of beef belly you get in motsu nabe (it was just a weird cut). I came with a lot of excitement but wasn't happy with the hot pot. I'll likely give it another try with other types of food.

Yelp
We went to try this place out. The restaurant decor is cute and cozy. The service is attentive. We got a couple dishes and it was good. We won't get the yakitori set again because it was just ok. The sushi taco with fatty tuna and sea urchins, scallop carpaccio, and torikara were tasty.

Yelp
Tried the katsu Don and yakatori. The katsu Don was delicious. Lots of flavor, tender meat, light panko crust, and good size. The yakatori was just okay. Some of have used a little more flavor. They have a pretty diverse menu, so would go again to try some of their other dishes.

Yelp
Issho Izakaya & Sushi is a Korean-owned Japanese restaurant that has just opened up in the former Baden spot. The menu is pretty extensive, offering various appetizers, nabe, rice and noodle dishes, sushi/sashimi/rolls, skewers, and desserts. We tried: +the yellowtail ponzu - with ponzu sauce and jalapenos +the scallop carpaccio - with tobiko, scallions, and yuzu sauce +the sashimi sampler - with tuna, salmon, and yellowtail +the Burning Tokyo roll - with spicy tuna, avocado, jalapenos, lump crab, spicy mayo, and sriracha, deep-fried +the Crazy Dragon roll - with tempura shrimp, cucumbers, eels, spicy crab mix, eel sauce, and tobiko +the Tororo roll - with spicy tuna, jalapenos, tobiko, scallions, toro, and gold flakes; we opted out of the cilantro +the Jalapeno Hamachi - with yellowtail, scallions, cucumber, jalapenos, and sriracha; we opted out of the cilantro +and, their yakitori (the beef outside skirt, the pork belly, and the chicken thigh). Staff were kind and friendly, and the restaurant itself is modern-like with colorful lights and ample seating. Plenty of working in the large plaza lot! +friendly service +plenty of parking

Yelp
We came to give this establishment a try. Reviews looked good. Menu looked amazing. We stated out with some appitizers (Tako yaki, Ikageso karaage, Torikara) wow. Delicious appitizers. Loved everything. We also ordered the pork belly and momo yakatori. They were all tender and juciy with lots of flavor. We also had an assortment of sushi. I was told they were delicious. I am a big fan of Nabi so we decided to try the Seafood Nabi. Amazing broth. We shared it among two of us. Honestly I could have eaten the whole thing myself. Maybe next time that would be all need. We also ordered drinks from the bar which were delicious as well. We will definitely be coming back. The service was fantastic, folks were very friendly. The ambiance was very nice. It was pretty quiet when we arrived. Nice casual place.would be a great place for date night.

Yelp
We decided to try this new izakaya. The interior is super nice and the vibes are very chill and quiet which I liked. We ordered an appetizer, some skewers, a roll, and the nabe. They were good but honestly was too expensive for what they were. The appetizers were kind of mediocre. The skewers were okay but were a bit dry. The nabe was good but kind of small for the price with little meat in it. All in all, I would say it would be nice to come here from time to time for casual drinks but the prices seem to be pretty high for the taste.
