I hosted my graduation party for 30ish people at Is/Was Brewing on a Sunday afternoon in December, and the experience was genuinely excellent from start to finish.
Booking was easy to do online, and their team was responsive and clear throughout the planning process. The day of the event was brutally cold, negative “feels like” temperatures, and while we were originally scheduled to be in the back room, they kindly allowed us to use the main space so we could spread out and stay comfortable. As other patrons arrived later, the bartender communicated clearly, helped us reorganize smoothly, and even provided a coat rack so we could move our things without stress.
They went above and beyond in a few ways that really stood out: letting us stay a bit past our scheduled time, helping us pack up our catering at the end, and making it easy for guests to open their own tabs. Is/Was also provided a dedicated table for catering, which made setup simple and kept the space organized.
The beer was, as always, fantastic. I already loved their beer going in, and it didn’t disappoint. The Tree Tippler is a favorite, and I especially enjoyed the gin barrel-aged and merlot barrel-aged beers. For guests who aren’t big beer drinkers, there were solid alternatives too. The cider was a hit.
Between the hospitality, flexibility, and quality of drinks, I’d absolutely host an event here again and will be keeping Is/Was Brewing in mind for future celebrations.
