Google
Italia has been on my list for years but it’s definitely on the more expensive end so I hadn’t gone until last night and wow was it worth it. It’s the cutest spot right in Brownes. We sat on their delightful patio and ended up being the only people out there after the other tables left since we had a later reservation. We got the seared octopus, braised rabbit with goat cheese ravioli and carrot butter sauce, and rack of lamb with goat cheese stuffed tomatoes and garlic cream sauce. Everything was superb. And though I’m used to fine dining places giving you less and charging more, the portions were actually quite substantial. Our server was kind and attentive (without being TOO attentive). Absolutely fantastic meal.

Google
Italia Trattoria is certainly one of Spokane’s top restaurants. The ambience is simple but elegant, the service is friendly but not over-the-top, and the food is stellar. Plan to pay for the quality - most entrees are around $40 as of Spring 2025. We had the beef carpaccio, the rabbit, the lamb ragu, and the orange cake. All were wonderful, but honestly, the ragu was just a little too powerful and winey for my taste. I think I would go for one of their citrus-forward dishes next time. The Chardonnay was excellent but again, pricey. Excellent anniversary or special occasion spot. Would love to see a slightly more price-accessible and simplified lunch menu someday (similar to brunch).

Every bite from this dinner is still living rent-free in my head. That focaccia? Fluffy perfection. The octopus salad? Bright, refreshing, and full of flavor. The rosé? Summer in a glass. Fabulous service. I love that open-air GarageDoor atmosphere. What I Ordered at Italia Trattoria: • Focaccia Bread 🍞 with olive oil & balsamic • Charred Octopus 🐙 Salad – citrus, fennel, herbs (would 100% order again) • Panzanella Salad 🥗 – heirloom tomatoes, focaccia croutons, shaved parmesan • Gnocchi alla Sorrentina – tender potato gnocchi in rich tomato sauce • Spaghetti 🍝& Meatballs – classic comfort done right • Grilled Lamb Tongue – with tzatziki, heirloom tomato, and olives • Tiramisu – whipped, airy, chocolate-dusted perfection. • La Jolie Fleur Rosé (2022) – light, elegant, and summery • Lucien Albrecht Crémant Rosé – crisp, floral, and beautifully chilled Their menu is a gem for adventurous food lovers — think boar, lamb tongue, and octopus done right. Unexpected cuts, unforgettable flavor.

Google
Fantastic food and drinks. In a really cute area. Service was decent, but nothing very personable. The disappointing part is that we came to celebrate our anniversary and made sure to mention it with the reservation, but it was never recognized during our meal. That would've gone a long way toward making it feel more intimate, especially considering the ~$200 bill. But, overall, one of the best restaurants in Spokane if you love Italian food!

Google
This is my 2nd time here. We 1st came for dinner a year ago, and only positive things to say. We got the lamb ragu and polenta Lasagna. I ordered the baked eggs for brunch and it was fantastic. Their fresh pastries are also amazing. Our waitress seems distracted and that she was having a hard time servicing our table. Wasn't too much of an issue except for the food coming out slightly cold and by another waitress. Would definitely come back for another meal, a lot of dedication and experience goes into their menu.

Google
We came here for our anniversary. The food was great to start. We had the spinach and ricotta dumplings. They melt in your mouth so good! The waitress was nice but we felt mostly like an after thought. She never asked how we were or for our drinks. We had to ask her the entire time and initiate every conversation. I’m normally very nice about servers being busy but when you are spending $200 for dinner for two on your wedding anniversary it changes things a little bit. The entrées came and were lackluster as well. I would rate a 3/5. Just disappointed when it was such a special occasion.

Google
Order the bread service, it's such yummy bread! Me and hubs got the squid ink fettuccine and the gnocchi the fettuccine was very good, the gnocchi was a little bland but still good. Dessert we had tiramisu and bread pudding which were both fantastic! Service was great, drinks were good, and prices weren't bad. The only thing we didn't love was how close the tables are but it is a small restaurant so it's understandable.

Google
Took a chance and OMG!! This is one of those hidden hole in the wall gems. Make a reservation and you will not be disappointed. Staff is phenomenal, Christy was an absolute blast, food is off the chart. 100% original and very well done. Quaint, nicely done decor. Absolutely will visit again when in town. Do expect to pay, but well worth it.

Yelp
My best friend and I are so glad that we got to get a couple of seats at the bar during dinner rush! But probably pro tip ... get reservations ... because this place was busy on a Saturday night. Even with the business, the staff from the friendly host to the amazing owner Beth to our waitress Mayra we received such a warm welcome. Have you ever felt that a restaurant was where you needed to be that night? Well Italia Tratorria was that for us! It was a warm and cozy spot that you can tell had both locals and tourists alike. And the food did not disappoint. The Italia Caesar Salad we had was perfectly dressed but the star was the anchovies as it added UMAMI! Find you a bff that is willing to switch plates halfway through the meal so you can enjoy two entrees vs 1. The broth or would you call it sauce to the squid ink was great! They definitely did not skimp out on the shrimp and squid. Pasta was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The wild boar was a different entree where I would have not been able to tell it was boar. It was deep in flavor. Though we were full we saved room for dessert. The tiramisu was calling our name. The crème was light and not overpoweringly sweet. The coffee flavor came out through nicely. And I am sucker for affogato and their espresso was nice with the ice cream. Food. Amazing. Ambiance. Fantastic. The people ... top notch! What's cool to sit at the bar was to see how the entire staff did everything. Not only did they take your orders but they were whipping up the drinks. Then serving the food and busting tables. They definitely were well choreographed. Definitely a place to come back to!

Yelp
Great food. Service.. meh. My husband got the steak. Very impressed. I had the seared octopus. Took me back to my trip to the Amalfi coast. Great! Service left a lot to be desired. Overall not worth the price we paid.

Yelp
Went to brunch w our son a senior at Gonzaga a few weeks before graduation. Trying to do all the things he wanted us to do before leaving. Brunch options were excellent. I got the Chanterelle Toast. Eggs poached perfectly. My son had the Miss Piggy Sandwich which isn't your typical pulled pork sandwich. More like an Italian beef sandwich that my mother used to make. Delicious. Staff was friendly and reservations were easy to make online.

Yelp
Cute quaint and absolutely amazing place for Italian. Pasta is hand made and delicious our server was attentive and very friendly and found out on our way out she has been serving since they opened 15yrs ago so it's obviously a great place to work as well as dine. Hands down would go back for dinner.

Yelp
The food here is amazing. Came here in the summer and sat on the patio and it was so nice! The service was great, everyone is so friendly and the interior is gorgeous. Highly recommend for an elevated date night spot in Spokane!

Yelp
I came in with my girlfriend for her birthday and her parents who traveled up here from Florida. Called and made a reservation. Got seated and took a good 15 minutes before anyone came over to us. And when they did we had a long dark haired ponytail waitress who was extremely rude right off the bat. My girlfriend had a question about their spaghetti and meatballs since their menu says all pasta is made in house, but the spaghetti isn't, so she asked if she could have it substituted, and the waitress gave a very snarky answer. So my girlfriend decided to just split my fish of the day of which we didn't want to pay the $3 charge just to have it put on two plates, and she rolled her eyes took our menus and walked away. She comes back five minutes later and proceeded to remove all of the bread plates we already had on the table and put my silverware directly on the table. Of which my girlfriends mother who works in the health industry said that's not ok and asked her to bring me new silverware since she placed it directly on a table, since I had my napkin in my lap. She then comes back with major attitude and sets a new silverware in front of me very aggressively and brought us out bread plates again. Like you took our plates away and then gave us them back a few minutes later? This undoubtedly made my girlfriend, her parents, and myself very uncomfortable to the point we decided to just leave after we had already ordered. We left with my girlfriend crying on her birthday thanks to their waitress who clearly had a stick up her you know what. We have been here once before but we will never be back after this experience. We left and went to sorella and instantly had a better experience with a much kinder waiter. That long dark haired ponytail waitress should not be working in service if such a minimal question ruined her day that much she treats her customers like crap. Did we not order enough food or drinks for you lady so we weren't worth you time since our tip wouldn't be high enough? Now you get nothing and will never get anything, WE WILL NEVER BE BACK! THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY GIRLFRIEND CRY ON HER BIRTHDAY. YOU SUCK

Yelp
Had a wonderful meal with bro and sis inlaws from Seattle. They enjoyed it all. Yummy spinach ricotta appetizer, got to get the forcoccia bread service to mop up the sauce. Panzella salad, lamb ragu , polenta lasagna and copper River special. Delightful. Peach cobbler for dessert. Excellent service as always. If you haven't experienced this restaurant you are missing out.

Yelp
We chose this location because it had a high star rating and had high expectations. It was just average so a bit disappointing. We did not have a reservation as it was a last minute decision to eat here . Looked like an elegant/chic atmosphere. Restaurant was about half full but they would only seat us outside on their patio since we didn't have a reservation , which was very bare bones and on the cool side due to weather. Not at all pleasant. They were still only half full when we left so not sure why we couldn't sit inside . Food menu looks interesting but sounds better than it tastes. Polenta Lasagna was average. Not a horrible place . Just average.

Yelp
food prep was very slow. the food is pre-portioned and there were not enough gnocchis with the sauce

Bill M.

Yelp
This is a wonderful local Italian restaurant featuring more of the Northern Italian cuisine as apposed to a pasta house. This seems to be a confusing issue for some of the commenters. I am not sure what Rita's deal is. She seems to just keep posting reviews about a restaurant she doesn't like. She already said she would never come back and then here she is leaving another bad review. Don't be a Rita. Go to places the you like, and not to places you don't. Don't get mad at a steak house because they don't serve Tofu. I sure hope next time I am lucky enough to dine with Italia Rita is nowhere to be seen!

Yelp
Lamb dish Steak meal And Pasta meal was all served. My family and I were so pleased with not only the service with a smile but the food was sooo delicious!!! The ambiance was so italian classic, I'm an italian myself and have traveled to Rome a couple times, this restaurant mimics the ambiance well.

Yelp
Our Sunday breakfast was delightful! Make sure you book a reservation. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, however, it is a small space. This place is both relaxed and full of Italian charm! Our waitress was wonderful and had great recommendations. You can definitely tell the food is fresh and they take pride in their dishes by using quality ingredients. We started with the tiramisu coffee! The presentation was so cute! The Italian breakfast was cooked perfectly and the Italian sausage had plenty of flavor. The baked eggs were amazing! Loved the poached eggs and the sauce was savory! I ordered the peaches and cream turnover due to our waitress's recommendation and so glad I did. The pastry was light and so flaky! The cream and peaches filling gave it the perfect sweetness. The zeppole doughnuts were also light and sponge like! The maple cream was creamy yet airy with a well balanced flavor. Finished my breakfast with a refreshing aperol spritz. I wish we would have had more time for a second visit to try their dinner.

Yelp
How did I never leave a review for this wonderful Italian eatery? I love their food, drinks, service, and ambiance, and we've been fans for years! We've gone for celebrating, like our anniversary, and for a plain night when we happened to be in Spokane; every time, we've enjoyed ourselves from start to finish, and it's very quality Italian. There's always something creative on the menu, and we like to get a mess of small plates sometimes to try the new flavors. Other times, we'll hoard our own entrees. The servers are always informed on the wines, we've had some excellent pairing recommendations; the bar makes such tasty scratch cocktails, it's hard to pick between them and the wine. Definitely check them out.

Yelp
FANTASTIC!!!!! Fabulous food and drinks! Great service! Great ambiance! A favorite Spokane Restaurant!!!!

Yelp
My friend and I tried Italia Trattoria Spokane tonight. We had reservations, which I would highly recommend. The place isn't large and the draw is huge. We tried Pomegranate Bellini's, Chicken Piccata, and Kurobuta Pork Chop. We were far too full to look at desserts. Everything was delicious and we would definitely come here again.

Truly some of the best Italian food I have ever had! Drinks, food, dessert- ALL AMAZING

Yelp
If you are looking for an authentic Italian restaurant this is not your place. I went in because I was craving pasta and sauce. There was only one dish on the entire menu that met the description.. I was very disappointed. They wouldn't allow me to change the dishes. I was by myself and sat at the bar so I just paid for my drink and left.

Yelp
Overall a spectacular dining experience. Food was phenomenal, service was exceptional. Well worth the $$. I'm usually putoff by being seated at the bar since I am usually a lone diner. However I sat at the far right seat and got to see the kitchen staff do their thing. It was amazing. This place is a MUST visit.

Yelp
Amazing cuisine and a great atmosphere and service. Truly fine Italian dining. Everything was great the charred octopus was unique and delicious. Definitely going back the next time I'm in Spokane.

Yelp
I got the traditional Italian dishes and everything tasted so fresh. I love bringing family and friends here

Yelp
Food is good but IMO overpriced. Staff very friendly and casual! If you look at my other reviews you will see that is I am ok with paying for quality food. But I think there needs to be value. IMO I don't see the value for the price here. James Beard semi finalist, or not...you get what you pay for. I think IT is overpriced.

Yelp
We went here for a business dinner and I think we were all quite pleased. Ambience: it was way too dark and the music was way too loud. We could barely have conversation with each other, we definitely couldn't hear our waitress read off the specials. Between the music and her whisper we all just got every third word, if that. It was so dark that I couldn't see what exactly I was eating. Good news: whatever I was eating was good. We got multiple appetizers and entrees and all the food had good flavor and was cooked well. It was a good visit and I'm glad we gave it a try! I might try this place again - in the daylight. Maybe in the summer when they can open the large doors or we could sit outside.
google avatar

Charisma N.

Yelp
The food was delicious. I got the polenta mushroom lasagna, and I could eat it every day. The other 4 members of my party enjoyed their food as well. We sat outside, which was nice. The insure looked a little cramped.

Yelp
Finally dropped in on this wonderful restaurant last night. The owner seated and bantered with us in the cozy, intimate dining area. We ordered the pork pate appetizer and it was delightful. Our main courses were the rockfish special and lamb ragu. Both were delicious. Our desserts were tiramisu and pear bread pudding, which were wonderful. Everything about the atmosphere and presentation was superb. We love Italian cuisine and have dined both here and abroad. We could not remember a better dining experience that Italia Trattoria!!

Yelp
PSA: If you are vegan, go to a vegan restaurant or call the restaurant before going there to ask if they have vegan options; stop going to restaurants expecting them to bend over backward fir you. You cannot give a good restaurant a one-star review simply because you did not do your homework. Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Spokane. The restaurant is located in a neighborhood which gives it a homey vibe, unlike all the restaurants downtown. We started the night with some bread which was not any different from other bread I've had before; however, it was very fresh and delicious. We then had a salad which was exceptionally delicious and fresh. You can tell that the veggies were very well cared for in the kitchen. This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. They know what they're doing and what they're talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Food is pretty good, some italian classics and some twists, and for their prices it's 100% worth it. They also have a great wine selection.

Bob S.

Yelp
I suspect this restaurant is a victim of its own success. My wife & I along with several family members have been there twice, but we don't have a desire to go back. The food is delicious and there are some unusual and wonderful items on the menu. However on both occasions, the seating was not comfortable, even with reservations. First time, we were packed in like sardines, to the point that it was not really comfortable. The second time, we had to sit outside and it was getting chilly, so that distracted from what was otherwise an excellent meal. It seems to me the service was adequate and friendly. And the place was cute. I'm guessing the place is just so popular that it's hard to get a comfortable table there. Also, while the food is excellent, I don't think it's worth the high prices they charge. Not when there are other places with excellent food (though not as fancy), where the overall experience is much more enjoyable and relaxed, that charge a fraction of what this place charges.

Yelp
Fabulous! Loved the service and the food. We had the nightly special of Copper River Salmon, served over roasted small potatoes, asparagus spears, with corn relish. Delicious. Super service from greeting at the door to our server, Cassidy. Cappuccino and Afogato for dessert and still more awesome service. It's in Browns Addition of Spokane so it makes parking somewhat iffy at times, this is a busy dining area. There is plenty of inside seating and a small patio area. Casual dress. Make reservations. Please note, there is a 3% service charge which goes to the back of the house (chef/cooks). Well worth what you get. We will definitely be returning to this lovely small business. Keep up the good job everyone!

Yelp
Great brunch! I've never had a kouign-amann before, but once I learned it translates to "cake" and "butter", I knew I needed to try it! It's perfectly buttery, flaky (though not as much as a croissant), and sweet. The fisherman's gratin had scallops, smoked salmon, halibut, and poached eggs immersed in a cream sauce with parmesan topped with bread crumbs. Chef Anna and her team never cease to amaze me with their culinary talent!

Yelp
Took a few friends to brunch this weekend after hearing that this is THE spot for breakfast in Spokane and I was extremely impressed. The restaurant itself is located in quaint Brownes Addition and has great indoor and outdoor seating options. Our server was attentive and checked in regularly, anticipating our needs with a smile - she was lovely! I had an omelette and Bloody Mary while my two friends had the farmers breakfast with an aperol spritz...we loved everything! The portions were perfect, the breakfast potatoes as a side were thick and crispy, and the drinks were tasty. Italia Trattoria, in addition to their brunch menu, has day of house-made pastries that are served warm. I highly recommend grabbing one before they sell out (which will, no doubt). The cream cheese danish we shared was buttery, light and creamy! We will be returning and recommending to friends! :)

Yelp
Absolutely perfect! Service was just lovely--atmosphere was casual yet elegant. Celebrating a special milestone and can't say enough great things about our experience. Dinner, dessert, and was wonderful. Thank you for a great evening!

Yelp
Modern and fresh Italian fare. Smallish, cozy restaurant in Spokane's historic Brownes Addition. Only street parking available. Be prepared to walk a bit. Very good food. Enjoy!

Yelp
What hasn't already been said about Italia Trattoria. From their impressive COVID guidelines and friendly wait staff to their exquisitely flavor-packed, beautifully balanced dishes, they excel in every way. If nothing else, do yourself a huge favor and get a side of risotto. It's like eating little pillows of rice morsels in a decadent, earthy cream sauce. Calorie bomb? Yes. Worth it? Most definitely.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience, great service, delicious food accompanied with fantastic wine. We loved the pork chop and fresh salmon with beet relish.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying this has been one of my favorite restaurants for years, so much so that my husband actually asked me to marry him there 6 years ago. I hesitate writing negative reviews, I worked in the restaurant industry for nearly 10 years and I understand all that goes into day to day operations. I understand how exhausted one can feel after working a double shift and then you get one more table coming in at the end of the night... I know that feeling. My husband and I tried making reservations on Friday and we were told we couldn't be accommodated until 8pm Friday. So we asked about Saturday, hoping for something earlier, and we were told 8pm again so we took the reservation for Saturday. Upon arrival Saturday evening, we noticed several open tables in the restaurant. Oh well, I figured they had some cancellations or whatever. We were greeted shortly after being seated by our waitress. She asked if we had any questions and I asked about specials, she said there was just a Pate special and let us look over menu. This would have been the appropriate time for her to tell us the dishes they were out of, but she failed to. I proceeded to try to order the Lamb Ragu, the dish I came for honestly. And then she tells me they are sold out. I was extremely disappointed but I ordered something else and the meal was nice but not exactly what I wanted. I kept trying make the best of it but then our waitress took about 15 mins to take our dessert order, which normally wouldn't be a big deal but the restaurant is emptying out and workers are blowing out candles on tables around us. So we decided we should ask for it to go. Our waitress tells us "we do not do to go but I will box it for you" I just felt like this comment was unnecessary, we've taken home plenty of things, especially dessert from them in the past. Her comment and her failure to mention 86ed menu items made me feel like we don't belong there and that she was just ready to go home. I understand kitchens run out of things, especially on Saturday evening on the last day of dinner service. But that is why its especially important for the guest to know right away. It truly sets the tone for the rest of the evening.

Yelp
Italia Trattoria is great addition to downtown. Delicious Italian food, big portions and a happy hour with exploring. Their spaghetti and meatballs is fantastic and they make a great cocktail.

Yelp
We went for brunch this morning and everything was really good! We got the lox and bagel along with the French toast! The service was awesome too!

Yelp
A must try!! We had a lovely table outside this morning for brunch to try out this place out for the first time. We started our order with mimosas which were a lovely 70-30 champagne to juice ratio. For food I decided on the Baked Egg dish and a half portion of their Brioche French Toast. I love a good savory breakfast dish with eggs and toast and the Baked Egg hit the spot. And the Brioche French Toast was BOMB as well, good thing I got the half portion because man was that a lot of food! We had the sweetest waitress who made sure everything tasted good and refilled our drinks promptly. Such a cute place, great food and great service! Can't wait to go back for lunch or dinner next time!

Yelp
Still spectacular after all these years. Fresh and welcoming. The tuna tartar and pork chop with morels were perfect. My friends quail excellent as well.

Yelp
Best brunch in Spokane! We ordered the Baked Eggs and Eggs Benedict with a side of Brioche French Toast because salty and sweet is a must while brunching! From the service to the food everything was spectacular and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fantastic meal.

Yelp
Meal was delicious. Service very friendly and efficient. Just a little cold in the back right corner of restaurant .

Yelp
Covid time brunch review: We are so delighted that I.T. is back open for dine-in after 3 months of shutdown take-out. For years it has been one of our top 3 go-to places in town for dinner and brunch. Returned for brunch today!! Since the pandemic started, they have removed some tables to facilitate distancing and have installed curtains between tables. Hand sanitizer is provided and all servers and kitchen staff are wearing masks. Today they were playing 80s classics, and the server staff were so excited to have dine-in guests. The food...as good as ever! They have updated their brunch menu, and thankfully still make their mouth-watering Zeppole doughnuts. I am usually so greedy, but today we just got a small order of the doughnuts along with our usual coffees and one entree each. Those dough bites with fresh housemade whipped cream were incredible--for a moment it felt like everything was going to be okay. Hubby had the panino with a side salad--very flavorful, and the greens were fresh and tasty. I had the frittata, in which the eggs (all from cage free hens!) were the perfect consistency. Their home fries and toast are always delicious, as is their brewed coffee which comes with free and friendly refills. For someone for whom brunch brings a lot of joy, I am really thankful I.T. is back. Can't wait to return for dinner sometime soon! If you're not ready to dine-in yet, they are continuing to do takeout with curbside pickup available!
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Oh man, I wasn't here to really eat. But I had a Caesar salad with this side sausage. SOOOOOO GOOD!!! I had a lemon something or other drink that was JUST as yummy! Hubby had a Lolo, so good. With a hash of potatoes and eggs. Lots of gf options not bread though.

Yelp
Not like it was a few years ago. Spokane has too many alternatives to continue eating here. Thanks

Yelp
My husband and I had a dismal meal at this restaurant, wildly undeserving of the positive reviews which convinced us to give it a go. My husband's bone-in pork chop had an otherwise tasty cream sauce which was literally full of grit--every single bite. It seemed like sand, maybe was dirt from unwashed mushrooms. Not. Edible. My husband is too polite usually to complain. When I told our server, she responded she would tell the chef. She returned to place our bill on the table with no apology, no offer to make it right, no nothing, just an indifferent retreat. My chicken breast was dry, dry, dry. Focaccia unremarkable and overpriced. A bad evening. Many other wonderful options in Spokane--we could not have had a better server, meal, ambiance, overall experience than we had had the previous evening at Anthony's. Anthony's superb. Trattoria--ick.

Yelp
Poor quality food. I've tried their breakfast and dinner a couple of times. Super 'blah' microwaved style food. Their menu states 'substitutions and additions will be declined'. Not a helpful staff at all. Filthy bathrooms and I watched a cook walk out without washing their hands. I'll never go there again.
