Regarding the Atlas Restaurant Group in Charm City, the restaurants are consistently good, whether in their food, service, or beverage program; I have not been disappointed. But then my wife and I went to Italian Disco. We went on a Sunday evening, traditionally less busy than Saturday and Sunday, but it was a lovely night, and the people came out.
We came in and sat in a nearly empty restaurant, and the bartender got us some water and our drink orders. We couldn't help but admire the decor of exposed brick and hanging vehicles. As a starter, we had the cauliflower, for which our server gave us the warning that it wasn't hot; it would not have made a difference to my wife and me; however, people can people have been fickle. The cauliflower was delicious and had all sorts of good things.
My wife had the cacao e Pepe and added it to grilled chicken. The pasta was the star of the evening; I loved the bite of every string of pasta I ate by the line, and the chicken was very generous regarding portions; it was not dry, it was just plenty.
You can turn your pizza into a calzone; that is precisely what I did with the sausage pizza, which has tomatoes and broccolini. At first, I thought I could not eat it all, but then I cut into it, and it completely deflated. The toppings were fantastic, but they also carried much water and made a soggy mess of the calzone that would only sit briefly. The tomato sauce with the calzone felt like it was poured out of a can; it reminded me of Spaghetti-o's.
After our meal was complete, we had noticed that our server disappeared, and we had to signal someone else to get our bill. We were not in a hurry, but the waiting became very noticeable. We got our account, and I left my card, and it was not picked up for at least 10 minutes when another server came by to pick it up. This was the first time I did not tip at least 15%.
I want to think that Italian Disco was short-staffed, and this was an off night. I hope this is not consistent, as I have expected good things to come out of Atlas.
