Where to Find Vegetarian Indian Food in Soho, London | Ask Eater London | Eater London

"A Chinese-focused vegetarian menu that leans on tofu and aubergines offers bold, spicy plates; recommended dishes include the hot and spicy dragon broccoli and Sichuan-style beans with preserved mustard greens, making it a strong non-Indian vegetarian option in the area." - Sejal Sukhadwala

This was an order through Uber Eats. First time and last time. That’s another story. The gyro sandwich was the WORST I’ve ever eaten. The bread was not fresh, the meat was spare and the sauce, well, see for yourself. The bread that is in the Kronos bag was not fresh and they couldn’t be bothered to even tie the bag. The paper bag with the humus, tabbouleh, and dolma was leaking, so poor packaging. The salads were salads, so nothing to say there. So much is wrong with this order that it begs the question of whether or not this place even takes pride in their food preparation and packaging. When you send an order out via Uber Eats you’re marketing yourself. Potentially, a great meal could lead to a visit to sit down and dine. This missed the mark on so many levels that for the FIRST time ever I’m posting a review here . . . so that’s saying something.

Google
The building needs a deep clean. It’s never a good sign to when you see that much dirt and grime because it gets you to wondering about all the stuff you can’t see- like soda spouts. The gentleman who took our order was very nice. I thought the chicken kabobs could have had more meat. The veggie platter came with more food than the chicken kabob platter, which blew my mind. It wasn’t the best Greek food I’ve ever had but it was decent. Pita bread was lower level mid.

Google
I come here and get chicken shwarma everytime I'm in Lubbock. The place itslsef is very ran down unfortunately. Only one person working there and he was really nice, doesn't automatically great you like every American does which I'm used to being from overseas. Americans would see it as rude but normal to me. Chicken Shwarma always delicious.

For Lubbock Tx, on a Sunday at noon there was only 6 people here. I figured being a 4 out of 5 star place it’d be busy. Kind of a crack in the wall place, small, but still open feeling. I’m not a clean freak by any means but the floors and counters and everything looked run down and nasty, not quite what you’d expect. Owner of the place just sat on his phone and didn’t say much other than order at the counter and they had 1 person cooking and working the register. Kinda sad and not a friendly atmosphere to be honest. The food was not cooked fresh from what I saw, the guy never touched the grill or oven to cook the meat or anything, so more than likely it was microwaved or something of that nature. The place needs some updating and serious cleaning and maybe then it’ll draw in a better crowd and have a more thriving business. Overall the food was mediocre at best, but the atmosphere and overall condition of this place was not that great. Just trying to give an honest review of the place.

Google
I had chicken gyro, sandwich and fried chicken. Food was okay. The owner was very hospitable. I asked for halal chicken. He charged me $1 more for that. No other restaurant in Lubbock has that extra charge. Lite bite is far better than this one. Also you have to pay extra for credit card. Just wow 😑

Google
Greek food is one of my favorites. I grew up eating authentic Greek food as a staple so I can be very picky. Unfortunately, it’s not often that I get to eat it since Amarillo doesn’t have any. I was excited to see this place while passing through and decided to give it a try. At 11:30, the restaurant was completely empty. The owner came out from the back and greeted my husband and I, took our order and went to work preparing it. We ordered hummus, chicken shawarma, and gyro. The hummus came out first and after eating my first bite, I knew I was in for a tasty meal. My chicken shawarma was so good. The flavors were perfect. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his gyro as well. We decided we couldn’t end our meal there. I’d noticed they had kunafa and Greek coffee on the menu so we decided to get some. The coffee was out of this world. If you enjoy rich, strong coffee, Mediterranean coffee would be right up your alley. This was truly some of the best I’ve had. The flavor of cardamom was so perfectly present and it paired perfectly with our kunafa - my all time favorite Greek dessert. The owner was very friendly and seemed to truly appreciate our business. There’s no doubt, I will definitely be back the next time I’m in Lubbock.

Google
The gyros has barely any meat on them, literally 3 shavings. The tzatziki has no cucumber or dill in it and for some reason has horseradish??? The fries were not seasoned at all and the restaurant was filthy! We are from Chicago (home of Greek Town) originally and have Greek family members, so we have a lot of familiarity with good Greek food. At least the name is true, it's clearly just Greek to the owners. Don't go here if you're looking for good Greek food!

Meg J.

Google
The place needs a deep clean and another employee. It’s impossible for one man to be the cashier, cook, and bus boy. It wouldn’t have hurt for the owner to stand up and wipe down some tables.

Yelp
Love this place due to the cook always been professional and kind but also for the gyro's. If you have the time stop and try the coffee you want be disappointed
google avatar

Terri F.

Yelp
Very nice owner who serves you. Fabulous hamburgers! Did was good but I like more seasoning on my food.
google avatar

Yelp
Need to update these hours. Just arrived and they are CLOSED. There is a guy sitting on the inside and just waved me off. People don't have time to get to a place and all signs point to open but thats not the reality.

Joe H.

Yelp
Great food friendly people recommend made by a true Greek guy theres a humus that I recommend getting
google avatar

Kristi H.

Yelp
I had their hummus, falafel, & pita. Family had wraps. Everything was tasty. The owner and-or managers were really friendly too. The place was quiet but lots of take-out orders were being handed out.
google avatar

Hestrellita K.

Yelp
The food was delicious and fresh. The lamb and beef was cooked perfectly and was very tender. The rice was very flavorful. The food was delivered very quickly. It was delivered within 30 minutes of ordering.
google avatar

Yelp
Smelled awful in there. We didn't even order and walked out. Limited Greek food on the menu... we were very disappointed as we drove all across town to try this place.

Kristen H.

Yelp
The food here was so good. This food is extremely authentic. I tried the lamb and beef gyro combo with falafel and baklava and it was all amazing. Help a small business owner out and try this place!
google avatar

Yelp
Nasty. I've had good Mediterranean food before and this is the worse. I ordered the veg plate. More dolmas to sub for eggplant dip. The dolmas were greasy, not fresh. The falafels were good. The hummus delicious. However, salad was weak. Not fresh. I ordered the lentil soup and it was not fresh, but clumpy. The owner was nice, and boasted that the lentil soup would taste better than I've had in Houston (at Dimassi's Mediterranean Buffet). It was a disappointment. It was disgusting. No flavor. It tasted only like cumin and water. The restaurant was filthy as well. Pretty outdated. The iced tea wasn't sweetened or noted that it wasn't sweet.

Yelp
I was gonna put 3 stars but then I took a bite. My boyfriend and I wanted something delicious for a good price and ordered online through Yelp's Grubhub feature. Two chicken shawarma sandwiches at $6.99 each. We got there a bit early (ten minutes) and we were the only people there, placing an order around 8:17pm and then getting an estimated pick up of 8:44pm-9:04pm. Closing on Saturday is 9:00pm. When we talked to the only guy at the counter who was also cooking, he kept asking why I ordered through Grubhub like 3-5 times in a span of maybe 5 minutes. It was really uncomfortable because honestly, I just wanted to eat after a long day and I like the ease of ordering through an app. I'm not sure why he was fixed on the fact that we ordered online versus calling ahead. I know that people with social anxiety and might not have the money for delivery fee that could feel awful after that. I felt more comfortable waiting in the car later while my boyfriend went back in alone to go pick it up. I come from a small town and I'm not an expert on Greek food but it was delicious. Flavorful from lemon, garlic, tomato, and spices. We wish there was more shawarma in the sandwich or a shawarma platter (more meat) available at a reasonable cost. But I get it, people have a business to run. Probably going again for the shawarma and more food. Gonna leave the talking to my boyfriend who is less bothered by those kinds of interactions in service industry though.

Yelp
This place was so dirty I still ordered food agents my better judgment. There was barley any meet on my gyro (literally 3 strips) the tzatziki sauce was either bad or had horse radish in it, either way it was no bueno. and the fountain drink tasted like they have never cleaned that Machine. never again

Yelp
I walked in solo; the husband and kids went swimming. I had no idea what to order. I was greeted by a man, seated at a table. I asked if he was the owner and he said he was just a long time customer. We visited and I told him I had no idea what to get, as I was unfamiliar with Greek food, but wanted to try something new. He took me to the counter and ordered for me. AND, he paid for my meal! He then invited me to sit with his family who was arriving soon. They welcomed me in like I was one of their own! The food was amazing. I had the beef and lamb gyro and the tabouleh. Both was so flavorsome! I especially love the horseradish sauce on the gyro! The owner was very kind and it was just all such a great experience. If every restaurant had this generosity of spirit, from their patrons, the world would be a better place.

Taylor M.

Yelp
Gabby was so kind to us, the food was delicious! i am a very picky eater and was going to go for the chicken strips so my boyfriend could get his gyro, gabby convinced me to try the gyro and told me if i didn't like it he would make the chicken strips for me, needless to say the gyro was delicious! would highly recommend this place!

Alexa D.

Yelp
We've ordered here a few times and I'd say the experience is a toss up each time, you won't know if it'll be a good or bad experience. The second time I ordered here I found pieces of plastic IN my gyro and in the packaging. Then this last time we ordered the gyro platter and were pretty disappointed. The platter doesn't REALLY come with a gyro (if you order the gyro by itself it's a totally different thing than what you get in the platter). The platters "gyro" was the meat with half a pita pocket tossed on top. No toppings, nothing put together. A shame because we do really like their gyros, this just came off lazy and felt like a waste of money especially because we ordered this specifically we like the gyros but we were hungry for more than just the gyro. We also ordered the baba ghannouge... it's a dip.... That the sell apparently with nothing to dip in it? Waste of money and was sloppy and spilled all over the rest of the containers. Would make sense to sell a dip with something to dip in it.

Yelp
This is the most piss poor attempt at decent food, that I've seen in a long time. We ordered a Greek salad (real hard to mess up), beef kabob meal, vegetarian combo and a grilled cheese with fries for my kids(also hard to mess up). We Grub Hubbed it since we were staying in a hotel. Y'all. This food was terrible. The grilled cheese was two pieces of dried out bread that looked like someone toasted them in a toaster and then slapped on a piece of old cheese they found in the back of their fridge. One piece of old sliced cheese. No ketchup came with fries so everything was a dry mess. Vegetarian meal was flavorless. How can you make hummus have no flavor? It's like they tried to make this horrible. Pita was cold and dry. Greek salad was the only Greek salad that ever came with a dressing which was sweet. The lettuce was old, yellow iceberg. The kabob has decent meat so we gave them a star for this. Rice was bland. We paid $40 for probably one of the worst meals ever. If we had dined in I would have at the very least sent the half assed grilled cheese back.

Tori S.

Yelp
If I could give this place negative stars I would. This place is way too expensive for the quality and quantity of food. The food I had was frost bit and greasy with almost no flavor other than rancid oil. There was not even 3oz of meat and the sauces were disgusting. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!
google avatar

Holly G.

Yelp
This is a good place to eat if you're looking for something authentic and different. They have a good selection of traditional Greek dishes and desserts. My only complaint about the food is that it can be very oily, but that is pretty common with Greek food. The staff are very friendly and I have never had a bad experience with them.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was awful. Not to mention that the price was WAAAAY overpriced! I expect to pay more for gyro meat, but it was close 25 bucks just for two gyros WITHOUT Tzatziki sauce! They charged EXTRA for it! Looking for other Mediterranean options.
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
Food was very good. I got the chicken shawarma which was cooked perfectly. The sauce used was good and complimented the dish well. Family ran business. Very friendly. Clean restaurant.
google avatar

Jacob X.

Yelp
I selected the 'Beef & Lamb' Gyro. I did not notice there were to be tomatoes, but for sake of the Greek Tradition...I go to extensive efforts to avoid tomatoes. I can say the preparation of the Gyro and it's bold flavor made me leave them (tomatoes) in..actually they may have made the Gyro better (?). The were also sliced perfectly, not as you see with common hamburgers, so that was great from the cook putting in the extra effort. The price wasn't so bad. The owners actually didn't mind chatting while the meal was being prepared. I was worried the lamb may have too much fat; however the entire Gyro was enjoyed without worry. The Lady Finger(s) (Desert(s)) - pretty tasty and not too sweet. I liked the diner scenery, maybe a great place to have a late snack on Fridays. They also work with a delivery company, so anything is possible.

Yelp
Went here for a birthday dinner. We were expecting just some yummy munchies, but walked out pleasantly surprised. Not only was the food incredibly good, but the service was a ton of fun! We're a vegetarian couple, and the vegetarian-friendly options on the menu were fantastic and extensive. Very glad we walked into this place and we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Thank you soooo much for recommending It's Greek to Me. I'm pregnant and all week have had horrible "morning" sickness and heartburn. I was living on Cheerios and Powerade. I went and picked up some lemon soup and I ate it all with no problem!!! If you haven't been to It's Greek to Me...GO NOW!!!
google avatar

Amanda K.

Yelp
This was my first time here but I absolutely love Greek food. I ordered the gyro combo which includes fries and a drink. My meal was about $10 with tax included. The wait did take awhile, about 25 minutes. With it being a long wait, it was worth it once the food came out. The gyro had lamb meat and the fries were crispy and not salty. I would recommend asking for the red sauce to put on your gyro to add an extra kick. Also, their shortbread and date dessert were really yummy!
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
I've gotten takeout or delivery from here several times. We stick to the beef and lamb gyros and have always gotten good, fresh food. My husband has some health issues that mean he is very picky about what he eats. I am pleased to say that the gyros don't bother him in the slightest!
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
Always pretty good but the baklava is to die for!! I normally get this as delivery, sometimes it's packed in a way that leaks but most of the time it's good.

Gay Attebury A.

Yelp
Yum! Everything was great tonight! I've been craving A Big Fat Greek Cafe from Silver Spring Maryland so I gave this a try. I will be back soon! Had Another meal tonight, I asked for more Sauce and got less. Food was cold. Still pretty tasty.

Yelp
Not good, small portions and terrible tzatziki sauce. I moved here from San Diego Ca and is a strong Greek presents there and Greek food is a favorite with my wife and I. So I tried It's Greek To Me on University in Lubbock. Went there about 530pm and there was no one in the restaurant. I ordered the Gyro Platter it came after a short while, the amount was in my opinion small, the pita bread was cold (not grilled). Salad was basic but fresh, the Gyro meat was ok but not favorable. I was so very disappointed with the tzatziki sauce, not sure but it tasted like powder based sauce. The man there was friendly, not sure if he was owner or not but friendly. I don't like to make negative post this needs to improve...

William M.

Yelp
As an Uber driver I get to get a first impression on many restaurants in Lubbock, this one deserves more than a first glance. The food here is amazing. From the appetizers (we had the hummus and falafel) to the meal (I had the beef kabobs and my wife had the vegetarian platter) are beyond tasteful. We left feeling full but not heavy and greasy as we do with most restaurants. The owner and staff are very friendly and likable. I have been to Greece and other areas of the Mediterranean while in the military and this food is VERY comparable. The rice I would buy in bulk and bring home. A must try at least one time!!!
google avatar

Amber T.

Yelp
Food came out quickly and was so good!! The owner was there and was so very friendly. Such a great community restaurant and customer service is impeccable. Making this place a go-to for a nice, cheap but delicious bite to eat. The Mediterranean food here is authentic and simple. Loved it!

James C.

Yelp
Thank god this place is closed. It made Mediterranean food taste like shit. Always old and terrible. Thank you for this Covid.
google avatar

Nick M.

Yelp
Best gyro in town. Staff is always friendly. No frills, the building and staff won't blow you away. But if you want Greek food, this is your spot.
google avatar

Megan K.

Yelp
First time here. I got their hummus and chicken shawarma. The hummus just taste like chick peas, there's no seasonings in it at all it's so bland. The fries came out super dress but also very bland. The sandwhich was super good though! The lady working at the front wasn't really professionally. After she brought our food out she went in FaceTime where customers could see her. The store itself could use some work because it seems very dirty. It was a very bland experience in general. I'd come back though and try something else because their sandwich was really good!

Harper C.

Yelp
I got it delivered on Uber eats, let me just say I was very excited to try this place but the dolmas were some of the worst I've ever had, the chicken for my gyro was cold and had no flavor, the fried pickles don't even taste like pickles, I'm upset I just wasted $15 to only enjoy the taste of the French fries...
google avatar

Annie C.

Yelp
The food was nasty! Spanakopita was dry and burnt, no tzatziki sauce just a ranch dressing really? then my combo chicken kabob had wilted lettuce and almost no chicken that tasted nothing like Greek, it was served with a horseradish white sauce, the sauce wasnt bad its just don't go in a kabob, it was served with 5 yes 5 fries and they were cold, OVERPRICED the restaurant needs a good cleaning, it was dirty everywhere with the outdoor front sign not on or burnt...NEVER AGAIN
google avatar

Herman L.

Yelp
2nd time visiting this place. I ordered the Gyro combo and it was really good. I did order it to go using Yelp/Grub Hub. It advised it would be ready in 45 min. I showed up and the guy there said it was ready a long time ago and had to remake my order. My advice is if you Grub hub call the location to get a reliable time frame. The place was awesome and the food was great.

Yelp
So, I'm a big fan of Greek food. I travel for a living, and everywhere I go, I'm always looking for a good gyro or falafel. Out of all of my travels, It's Greek to Me is by far the best greek food stateside. They had the best gyro that I've ever had, as well as the best boba ganoush that I've ever had! Try their gyro spicy, and you are in for a treat! They also have home-made hummus and greek deserts, as well as great french fries! It's a small family owned restaraunt, made evident by the fact that any given afternoon on a school day, you could be served by their adorable children, or they can be seen doing their homework at the table next to you. I was in Lubbock for 3 weeks and ate here at least twice a week. They were all very friendly, and would greet me as I entered the establishment. More people need to eat here, as it would be a shame for such a wonderful restaurant to go out of business!
google avatar

Lindsay D.

Yelp
I would like to give this business a higher rating on the possibility that their food is good, but honestly, I didn't stay here long enough to try it. If their dining room is filthy, I can only imagine what is brewing in the back. Went with a friend during slow business hours, with one other group of two seated. Our table was sticky, seats had stuff dripped on them and were ripped and uncomfortable. Other tables had not been cleared. And as we were leaving, I noticed a hypodermic needle under one of the plants out front. Overall, I just didn't want to eat anything served here. The friend I went with said she'd had a good experience here years ago, but this was not our day. I'll take my chicken shawarma without the salmonella, thanks.
google avatar

Pete S.

Yelp
We ordered our food and went to find a table. Not one table was clean. Owner said they were short handed today!! Wife & I both had the Gyro. Pita bread was not fresh, not much lamb/ beef and mabe a teaspoon of cucumber sauce. All in all, skimpy sandwich. 2 Gyros & 2 cokes $16. We will not return.
google avatar

Greg T.

Yelp
Been driving past this place for years. The family and I final stopped in and I'm glad we did. The service was great and they are very friendly. I had the chicken Gyro and the wife had the chicken shawarma based on the staff's recommendation. Both were awesome. The kids had the chicken fingers and they are as good as chick-fil-a's. We also tried the baklava and lady fingers. Not sure why there was a bad review because it was great. Next time you are looking for something different in Lubbock and you are tired of the chains, give this place a shot.
google avatar

Tom J.

Yelp
Me and my friends go here after church on Sunday. The owner is so friendly and accommodating. The food is the best I've had in Lubbock. Fresh and fast. If you want something special or that's not on the menu, chances are they will make it. Will continue to come back.
google avatar

Joshua M.

Yelp
Food is really good! I had the spicy gyro combo which I thoroughly enjoyed. It came out to about $9.50 which felt a little too expensive but they do have a lunch buffet for $9.99 but it looks kind of sketchy. The facility itself is a big reason I didn't give it a higher rating the decor is VERY tacky but that's kind of the whole Greek charm, but it's real low point were its bathrooms YUCK!
google avatar

Seth R.

Yelp
Great food!! And friendly family owned service. All of lubbock needs to make this place stay for a long time!
google avatar

Thomas B.

Yelp
The food was very good. HOWEVER, we ordered delivery through Texas2Go, but when we unwrapped our falafels, instead of it being a sandwich in a pita with lettuce tomato and cucumbers, it was just the falafel patties in a styrofoam carrier. This was very disappointing. When we tried to call the restaurant they were closed. Based on taste alone, they would've received a 5; the dolmas and tabouleh were excellent. But we really wanted our falafel to be as described on the menu.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
My rating would likely be higher if I drove through, but I opted to place a to-go order inside. First of all, the gyro was very good. I actually liked the tzatziki sauce. It had a horseradish kick! I also liked the baklava. I'm undecided on the falafel but it might be because I'm not a falafel person? Time shall tell, I suppose. The man who took my order was not a very sociable guy, but that's ok because my order was correct and I was thanked for my business. The owner was there and was extremely friendly. The biggest issue was how dirty the restaurant was. There were uncleared tables (Myself and another party of 2 were the only patrons there.) The wall next to the soda machine had dried soda all over it. Trash can was overflowing. There were no available napkins to wipe down your cup. Ice machine was stuck. Owner did wipe down my cup himself once I asked for a napkin, but I was not at ease with what I could see from the dining side of things. I plan to come back for another gyro but I'll probably order it to go and pick up in the drive thru.

Michael S.

Yelp
Both ladies and men's bathrooms were absolutely filthy. The Greek side salad was iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato. The scwarma was cold. My chicken kabob was ok. There are major health code violations at the place.
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
I love love love this place! Some of the best food in Lubbock, they have great Arabic food and awesome hamburgers and wings. It is such a treat when I get to come here also I love the family environment here. Just a great place to be at.
google avatar

Addie B.

Yelp
This place is the place to go if you want authentic Greek food. The gyros were so yummy, the hummus was delicious, and the baklava was amazing! The owner was so sweet and it's easy to tell that he appreciates your business and loves his job.

Emily S.

Yelp
Great place! The food was delicious and the service was very attentive. I recommend the gyro sandwich for sure. If you're craving Greek food, this is definitely the place to go.

A K.

Yelp
Always great food. Fresh lettuce & tomatoes in salad and on gyro. Wife loves the chicken kabob plate. This guy knows his Greek food and he's very friendly.
