It’s Greek to Me Has Closed After Nearly 40 Years on Lake Street - Eater Twin Cities

"It’s Greek to Me has closed on the corner of Lake Street and Lyndale Avenue. The restaurant has been an icon of the neighborhood since opening in 1982. Originally run by Argyrios and Denise Arambadjis, the lively restaurant serving all the comforts of Greek food and hospitality was sold in 2017 to another family, Nick and Athena Karos. The Karos family did all that they could to bring the aging eatery into a new era with fresh menu items, entertainment, and even a market of imported Greek goods for purchase. Unfortunately, it’s been a rough summer for many neighborhood restaurants, and the Karos family made the difficult decision to close after dinner Sunday night, sharing the announcement on Facebook at noon on Saturday. It’s Greek to Me will carry on in some form as a catering operation, however." - Joy Summers

Finally got around to trying this place and man, let me tell you, it exceeded all expectations. You wouldn’t expect the glamorous, immersive, and cozy interior ambience you get from its plain exterior. Walking in, you’ll find arched entryways, bright murals, and Greek artifacts tastefuly adorning the walls. I felt transported. Service was very friendly and we felt well taken care of. The food is authentic and oh so flavorful. I highly recommend the rich htipiti appetizer, the juicy sovlaki chicken kebabs, and decadent walnut-filled baklava. The menu is trulu awesome. I wanted to try everything. You can’t go wrong! Easy 5 stars. İ hope to be back soon.

Staff was really friendly and helpful with the menu. Food was great too, gotta try the Greek fries. Lamb gyro dinner is a classic must. Outdoor patio is great for nice weather and covid!

I wish I liked the food here more because the patio and service are great. The dishes I had were all a bit bland. Not bad at all but not great. This place could be fantastic if they’d just go a bit harder with the seasoning.

Great food and good service!! Nice menu options. They have a few drink specials. Very satisfied with our food selections. Lots of seating. Good location. Fun spot to watch the goings on of Lake and Lyndale in Uptown. Good spot for great Greek food.

We went here yesterday to celebrate Father’s Day a week early. If you are looking for parking, there’s a pay parking lot behind the restaurant down an alley. The customer service was good and the food was also good. We had 2 plates of their calamari, which was excellent, along with saganaki (a cheese that’s on fire when it comes out). I ordered their combination dinner. My mom ordered the shrimp santorini, which was excellent! I would go here again.

It's Greek to me is the best! It's been my family favorite since the 1990's. We enjoyed the Spanakopita, Greek salad, Tzatziki, Paidakia, Chicken Gyro, Beef & Lamb Gyro. The staff is superb and the patio is amazing! It's a great date spot too! I can't wait to return

Absolutely delicious. My other half wanted Mediterranean tonight and led us to FINALLY trying this beautiful gem of a restaurant. John and Bridget served us and they were spectacular. The octopus was perfect. It was the only thing I managed to get a picture of. Go here. Enjoy the food. Enjoy the atmosphere. enjoy the wine.

The food is good, I always enjoy the gyro. Recently I ordered a side of potatoes and was massively ripped off, not super happy. They charge $4.50 for the side and I was literally given six quartered potatoes. Overall the food is decent but this just feels a bit unfair.
