"This family business in the heart of Nuremberg has been around since 1972! Many regulars keep coming back, having been won over by the aromatic dishes, which include classics like laab and tom yum. Add to that a clean-lined, minimalist-style interior and friendly service. By the way, the restaurant takes its name from the sisters Iu and On who cook here." - Michelin Inspector

IU&ON in Nuremberg presents itself as a stylish and contemporary dining spot with a unique fusion concept, merging traditional Asian flavors with modern culinary techniques. Its ambiance is chic, with a minimalist design that aims to create a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. During my dinner visit, I started with the Tom Yam Gung soup, which, while flavorful, was overwhelmingly spicy and somewhat overpowered the subtler notes of the dish. For the main course, I opted for the beef, which unfortunately was quite modest in portion—just 50g of beef accompanied by a small spoonful of rice. For dessert, I had the rice pudding, which was pleasant enough. All together, with a glass of wine and water, the meal came to nearly 80 Euros per person. From a price-performance perspective, this felt quite steep. Despite the high cost, the service was very friendly, though this didn't fully compensate for the overall experience. It's worth noting that the restaurant was nearly empty on a Friday night, which might suggest that others have had similar thoughts regarding value for money.

Great restaurant with excellent service. Restaurant has a tiny menu (which I absolutely love as then you don’t have to spend time choosing). You are met by very friendly staff that are very tentative and generally make the experience very special. The food is clearly very very good Thai food cooked to perfection however, perhaps for the cost could be presented in a slightly more exciting way. Overall however, a very recommended experience and will definitely return. Thank you IU & On

Found this restaurant in The Michelin Guide, which didn’t earn any Michelin praise, but I wanted to check it out regardless. Their green curry fish dish was the only dish I enjoyed. Can’t say much for the rest. Overpriced for substandard fine dining that wasn’t worth the long wait between our appetizer and main meal. I would also not call this an authentic Thai restaurant. I left…underwhelmed.

Our experience at this restaurant was absolutely shocking. The moment the waiter asked where we were from and we answered “Israel,” his entire attitude changed. He immediately became hostile, dismissive, and openly unpleasant. He even muttered “oh no” in a way that was clearly meant to be insulting. While every table around us received bread and normal service, we were ignored and treated as if our presence was a burden. The level of disrespect was unbelievable and completely unacceptable. No restaurant should ever treat guests differently because of where they come from. This was a deeply humiliating and uncomfortable experience, and I feel obligated to warn others about the discriminatory behavior we encountered.

Not the best place for fast (1 hour long) lunch. Unfortunately although there were ony 5 guests in the restaurant during lunch time it took them around 40-50 mins just to serve our full meal (starter and main dish). Menu is changing every week but unfortunately not much of choice... We had choice betwee 2 beef and 2 fish dishes. There is better choice of starters. The waiter was nice and polite. Prices... definitely too high comparing quantity of the served meal and that food was in fact very nicely done and from fresh igredients but no wow-effect.

Superb food and service! Don’t recommenced it to anyone who doesn’t like spicy food! Food a bit pricey but really tasty!

Yelp
The food was done perfectly and very tasty: Tom Yum soup exactly the right heat and the seafood was tender; the chicken and vegetable stuffed cabbage was delightful; the tuna tataki salad main dish was outstanding on many levels. The service at this family restaurant was very wam and welcoming. The decor was very relaxing and unpretentious. For a small restaurant, the wine list provided many options. Everything was done exactly right all the way through to the espresso. A real gem for Nuremberg.

Yelp
MY GOSH, IT S NOT CHEAP!! but the food s very well cooked. menu changed frequently. i read that it was small but it s actually smaller than i expected. 4 starters, 4 mains and 2 desserts. i had the octopus salad for 11.50. it was delicious! as a main i had the cod curry 19.50 my friend had spicy chicken. service was way too slow. had to wait for 20 mins for my main. overall the food was very well cooked but portions were small, it was very overpriced. service was ok, but felt like we were nt treated ad well as the others because we did nt get any wine. I would nt mind coming back again, but there s enough good thai places with lower prices in this town. 1 starter, 2 mains and half litre of water for 56 euros!
