"A great cocktail bar with food that can go toe-to-toe with their drinks isn’t all that surprising these days, but how many times will you find one serving a sweet potato soup you can’t stop thinking about? That—and other dishes like thai coconut curry mussels and a delicious cashew-kimchi bowl—make Ivy & Varley stand out. Sip on the Enso with gin, shochu, and thai basil, or try the local rye Burnt Honey Old Fashioned while you wait for your snacks to arrive. Located near the Salt Palace Convention Center, this is the place to unwind after a boring conference on accounting software. If you value your hearing, snag an early reservation before the DJ starts playing at 8:30pm on weekends." - Jenny Willden

Courtney was amazing! She went above and beyond as a server! She was so engaging and thoughtful. We were a large group of girls and she made everything look easy. Beautiful ambiance in the patio. Our host was Adam and he was so accommodating!

This restaurant takes the box for extravagant outdoor experience. Food is fantastic! Great for a breakfast cup of coffee with your friends, afternoon recovery from breakfast, hangover, lunch, dinner with friends, or that special someone where your eyes can explore the dimly lit atmosphere where the dangling lights from the trees above shimmer and cat. Was fantastic. We loved our service and experience.

We had heard great things about this place. Very busy and reservations required. Seems like a very popular hip spot. It was a very loud room so it made conversation with our group of 8 difficult. Everybody enjoyed their meal. The Brussel sprouts were very tasty and the garlic fries were worth it. The waygu braised beef was very good. The top sirloin was good but too raw for my wife. We ordered it medium but it was somewhere between rare and medium rare. I didn’t send it back for additional cooking because that never works out well. It did have great flavor. We would come back, the menu had many dishes I would like to try.

Brunch was not disappointing, but definitely not anything memorable enough to go back. The cocktails were creative (The Last Man Standing with mezcal, Anejo, fermented hot honey, wood fire, and mole, was awesome) but a few arrived with garnishes that were completely wilted and gross.

I was so excited for the salad that I ordered (to go order) and when I opened the order 80% of the leaves were yellow and spoiled! Basically the entire salad ended up in the trash. I can’t believe they charge $11 for this and do not check what they are putting on someone’s plate or that they even have such poor quality products in the kitchen. I think fast food restaurants serve better quality. Giving this 2 stars only because service and fries were decent.

Stylish, vibey spot with amazing food for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Cocktails are top-notch in both flavor and presentation—especially at their bar side, Varley. Beautiful space inside and out, with a great patio and live house music on weekends. Casual but upscale feel. A go-to favorite!

I'm sure it's intentional to have no art on the walls but the dining area seemed like an annex that didn't get finished yet. The fries appetizer was really good. My husband is from England and got the fish and chips which he said was ok. I got the gnocchi and it's a very heavy meal... Way more chewy pork than gnocchi. Interesting textures.

Showed up on time for our reservation and restaurant was closed. Had to stand outside in the snow to wait for them to open up. Service was slow, once our food finally arrived it was cold. Ordered huevos rancheros with chorizo and there was a cup of chorizo dumped onto the food. The shakshuka was ordered with hard eggs and the food came out cold with runny eggs. They remade the order and the second time the food came out lukewarm with runny eggs. Our drinks remained empty the entire time we were there. The only saving grace was the roasted beet hummus appetizer. We will definitely skip this place next time we’re in Salt Lake City
