Varley - Review - Downtown - Salt Lake City - The Infatuation

"A great cocktail bar with food that can go toe-to-toe with their drinks isn’t all that surprising these days, but how many times will you find one serving a sweet potato soup you can’t stop thinking about? That—and other dishes like thai coconut curry mussels and a delicious cashew-kimchi bowl—make Ivy & Varley stand out. Sip on the Enso with gin, shochu, and thai basil, or try the local rye Burnt Honey Old Fashioned while you wait for your snacks to arrive. Located near the Salt Palace Convention Center, this is the place to unwind after a boring conference on accounting software. If you value your hearing, snag an early reservation before the DJ starts playing at 8:30pm on weekends." - Jenny Willden

I’ve had an upset stomach since eating here, which is disappointing because the place itself is amazing, the ambiance, the service, everything else is on point. But the food really needs improvement. I came for brunch with friends and ordered the egg white and avocado sandwich, and honestly, it was one of the worst I’ve had in a long time. It felt like they use the same English muffins for everything, they tasted old and smelled funny, I should have said something, but I was hungry. The salmon looked off too, both in color and flavor, the avocado has a strange taste. On the positive side, the potatoes were delicious, and the Rosy Cheeks cocktail was great. My friend couldn’t finish her eggs Benedict, and the shakshuka had way more oregano than usual, which threw off the balance. Overall, there’s so much potential here, but the food isn’t living up to the rest of the experience.

Courtney was amazing! She went above and beyond as a server! She was so engaging and thoughtful. We were a large group of girls and she made everything look easy. Beautiful ambiance in the patio. Our host was Adam and he was so accommodating!

This restaurant takes the box for extravagant outdoor experience. Food is fantastic! Great for a breakfast cup of coffee with your friends, afternoon recovery from breakfast, hangover, lunch, dinner with friends, or that special someone where your eyes can explore the dimly lit atmosphere where the dangling lights from the trees above shimmer and cat. Was fantastic. We loved our service and experience.

We had heard great things about this place. Very busy and reservations required. Seems like a very popular hip spot. It was a very loud room so it made conversation with our group of 8 difficult. Everybody enjoyed their meal. The Brussel sprouts were very tasty and the garlic fries were worth it. The waygu braised beef was very good. The top sirloin was good but too raw for my wife. We ordered it medium but it was somewhere between rare and medium rare. I didn’t send it back for additional cooking because that never works out well. It did have great flavor. We would come back, the menu had many dishes I would like to try.

Google
I'm sure it's intentional to have no art on the walls but the dining area seemed like an annex that didn't get finished yet. The fries appetizer was really good. My husband is from England and got the fish and chips which he said was ok. I got the gnocchi and it's a very heavy meal... Way more chewy pork than gnocchi. Interesting textures.

Google
Brunch was not disappointing, but definitely not anything memorable enough to go back. The cocktails were creative (The Last Man Standing with mezcal, Anejo, fermented hot honey, wood fire, and mole, was awesome) but a few arrived with garnishes that were completely wilted and gross.

Google
I was so excited for the salad that I ordered (to go order) and when I opened the order 80% of the leaves were yellow and spoiled! Basically the entire salad ended up in the trash. I can’t believe they charge $11 for this and do not check what they are putting on someone’s plate or that they even have such poor quality products in the kitchen. I think fast food restaurants serve better quality. Giving this 2 stars only because service and fries were decent.

Google
Stylish, vibey spot with amazing food for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Cocktails are top-notch in both flavor and presentation—especially at their bar side, Varley. Beautiful space inside and out, with a great patio and live house music on weekends. Casual but upscale feel. A go-to favorite!

Yelp
Fantastic lunch today at Ivy and Varley!! Our server, Penelope took great care of us!! I got the Forever Lavender to drink and the Strawberry Fields salad! Delicious!! My friends got the Chicken sandwich and Wagu burger!! I also got a free and festive dessert since it was my birthday!! Such a fun vibe!! We had a great time! Can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
Love the ambiance and the location. If you can, grab a seat outside by the fountain. Food was superb especially the Brussel sprouts. Now when it comes to alcoholic drinks, this place needs to do a better job with cocktails especially those that require soda water. Twice we asked for it to be fixed, and they couldn't get it right so we gave up. Otherwise, the service was amazing.

Yelp
Attention: You must have a valid ID to enter this restaurant. Even if you do not plan to drink alcoholic beverages, you will not be permitted to enter the premises without proof that you are 21 years old or older. No exceptions, even if you're 80 years old, you are still required to show your ID (driver's license or passport). I thought it was bit ridiculous for this restaurant to have to card everyone. They said it was state law, but I found it odd that none of the other restaurants had this requirement. One member of our party who was clearly well over 21 had to search his backpack. He was visiting from Switzerland and the hostess did not accept his foreign ID. Thankfully, he had his passport with him. It took him a while to locate his passport, so we were all growing impatient. Oddly enough, despite all the fuss about being carded, none of us consumed alcoholic beverages. Aside from the initial frustration, we actually really enjoyed the restaurant. The food was really good and there were many healthy options, which I loved. Needless to say, this is not a family restaurant, as anyone under age 21 is not permitted.

Yelp
I've been here a once before and that was late at night. Clearly I was happy to return. I do love the evening vibe here over daytime, but I have no complaints either way. They are known for drinks and have not disappointed at all. I'll certainly return. Today we also had lunch. The Strawberry Fields Salad was the winner for flavor. It also looked beautiful! I ordered the BEC Burger with fries and it was nice though nothing special. The fries however were really good. The brioche bun on a burger as expected disintegrated with each bite making it messy. It was ok for a burger, definitely not ordering it again. As always the service from host to server was awesome. I do like this place.

Yelp
I've been here during the day for lunch; and at night for drinks. For lunch, we ordered the steak, garlic fries, and pear goat cheese salad. They're all equally good. Nothing was left behind. We sat outside and really enjoyed the setting. It was the perfect weather for it and I'm glad we decided to eat there on a nice day. All the staffs were helpful and kindly walked us thru the menu. Parking can be found in the streets or lot so ensure to give yourself time to find one. At night, I only had cocktails and it's a different kind of vibe. The drinks were good; and bartenders were working efficiently to make us drinks without long waits. All are nice. Overall, I'd come back again to try their dinner.

Yelp
This place is super cute! There were plants and ambient/aesthetic lighting (but it wasn't too dark inside). The music was noticeable, but not overbearing. And they didn't kick us out even though we ended up staying and chatting for hours, which was great! The tuna tartare appetizer was AMAZING. Everything in the dish worked well together, and no single flavor was too overpowering. The fish and chips were from the "large plates" section of the menu -- and the plate was, in fact, large. Our server said people don't usually finish the large plates, and even with two people sharing one plate, we had a teeny bit leftover. The chicken caprese sandwich was good, and came with a choice of a side salad or fries (we went with fries). Most of the fillings stayed inside the sandwich while eating it, which is always impressive. Also, the blackberry no-jito (mocktail) was tasty, too!! This place is so cute, and the server was so fun. I'd definitely recommend this place if you want a cute place to catch up with some friends!!

Yelp
I made a reservation for a big party on the patio. I confirmed that we were on the patio twice after booking. We ended up being sat inside. Our servers were amazing but the management over reservation sucks.

Yelp
Had the melt in mouth Wagyu Beef! Amazing!! Also appreciated the birthday sparkler! Fun!!

Yelp
Popped into the bar side of the location to have a few drinks while taking a break from attending a conference. Bartender was quick to greet us and get a few menus over. We looked through a few of the signature options and the wine / beer list. I opted to try their version of an espresso martini, and it was excellent! The place itself had a modern lounge feel to it. The lighting was dimmed, and the bar took the majority of the middle of the floor. The bar was surrounded with bar height stools that were first come, first serve. Didn't order any food from here as the kitchen was not yet open when we visited. Overall: A Fun vibe, good drinks. Pricier but it's right by the conference center and that's to be expected for location.

Yelp
It's separated into two restaurants, but it's the exact same restaurant and menu. Very weird and slightly confusing when the place is empty. Our server didn't seem happy to be there and spent most of her time chitchatting with her coworkers, which means my guy and I had to wait every step of the way. I started with the Rosy Cheeks. It was good and not too sweet, but I wasn't really able to taste the guava. I can't remember which drink my guy had, but he enjoyed whatever it was. For food, we split the Chicken Lollipops (these were good, but there was way too much blue cheese mousse. There wasn't much meat, but it was cooked perfectly), Tuna Tartare with mango salsa on the side (loved this! This was soo good and I am obsessed with the wontons they used for this. The only thing I didn't like was that it was sitting in a pool of the sauce, which caused everything to get soggy quickly), and the Salmon Belly BLT (neither my guy nor I liked this one at all. The only good part was the fries it came with. My guy was starbing so he still ended up eating it, but it was a really disappointing entrée to end with). Place is average. Wouldn't want to come back if I came back to town.

Yelp
I was in Salt Lake this week, and needed a place for a business meeting/lunch. Not knowing Salt Lake like I used to years ago, I needed to find something that looked appealing. I found Ivy & Varley, and I'm so glad that I did. As you'll see by the entrées in the pictures I provided, every one of these dishes is a work of art. I really enjoyed the Mediterranean orzo salad, where I added the grilled shrimp to it. It was really good. I'm not a goat cheese fans, so I had them remove that. The rest of our team had the kale salad, which they said was very good, they wish they would've gotten the shrimp after they saw my dish. Other dishes on the table were the grilled salmon which looked amazing. I didn't get any feedback on that one. The burger, which I was told was very good, prepared perfectly. The service here was very good, as the lunch rush was very light that day. As mentioned, it was a very light lunch crowd, so the ambience and noise in here was quite low, it made for a really nice location for a business lunch. There were five of us, and they put us at a nice size table where we could have a conversation, get all of our entrées, and not be squeezed in. We did not sample any of the beverages other than soda and water, so I can't comment on any of the cocktails. They all sounded quite good by the description in their menu. The service was very good. All of our dishes came out very quickly, and we're very fresh and hot right off the grill. Thank you for the great experience.

Yelp
Everything we ordered was delicious! Our party ordered lavender crusted goat cheese, salmon crostini, classic American burger, and the pork shank. Everything was expertly prepared and very tasty. The restaurant is large with a lovely outdoor seating area and multiple indoor areas, including a large bar. A DJ joined us near the end of our meal and the place really got hoppin'. Our waitress was friendly but refills had to consistently be requested, adding to a pattern of non-anticipatory service. Overall, I'd definitely return as the food was excellent, environment offered diverse experiences, and prices were as expected for this level of restaurant.

Yelp
Brunch dreams come true in Salt Lake City! . This highly recommended spot did not disappoint. From the impeccable service to the delicious cocktail, every detail was on point. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the staff were the nicest, and the decor left me in awe. Truly a gem in the heart of Utah! . Salt Lake City, Utah Brunch cocktail perfection Ambiance goals

Yelp
As I was preparing for my trip to Salt Lake City, this restaurant kept appearing on lists of must-try spots, so I decided to book a brunch reservation to celebrate my birthday. I have to say, it completely lived up to the hype. From the aesthetic to the service and food, this was easily one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. We kicked things off with some appetizers, and on Anthony's recommendation, we tried the Brussels sprouts--they ended up being my favorite dish! If you dine here, you absolutely must order them. For my main meal, I chose the American breakfast, swapping out the toast for pancakes. The pancakes were buttery, fluffy, and the eggs were scrambled perfectly. To top it all off, they brought out a dessert with a sparkler to celebrate my birthday. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Yelp
Stopped in for a light breakfast and some morning alcohol b/c...Utah. The restaurant is confusing to a first-timer b/c it looks like 2 separate establishments. Jake (clearly from Statefarm) was my bartender and this man's cocktails are as amazing as his personality... Banana old fashioned - aaaaauughhhlllll (Homer Simpson drool) divine. Moonbeam - ahhhhhh...Refreshingggg.... Light (but not on the booze) and citrusy. The burnt cinnamon stick adds a slight flavor infusion that elevates the drink to new heights. Hibiscus margarita - not only is it a visually appealing drink, but also citrus, refreshing and offers an interesting flavor complexity. All-American breakfast - the sourdough toast and vegan sausage were pretty tasty and the eggs fluffy. B/c of a cheese snafu, Jake was kind enough to, unnecessarily, go above and beyond to rectify the situation, demonstrating superior customer service skills and solidifying his place, not only as a master mixologist but the #1 insurance agent in the region. He put the cherry on top of a wonderful 1st visit to Utah!

Yelp
Wow we've driven by Ivy & Varley for a long time and finally decided it was time to enjoy dinner there and experience this place. It's really two separate establishments sharing the same kitchen. Ivy is more the traditional restaurant where Varley is more of a nice cocktail bar. They share the same menu for both sides so either one is nice. Since it's considered a bar by Utah standards no kids are allowed. We were greeted promptly and seated right away and the vibe of Varley is nice. Modern lights and artwork in a big spacious setting. The bar is well displayed and there's seating at the bar or various tables throughout. We had a nice two top cocktail table for our experience. Cocktails are definitely their specialty but the drink menu not only boasts lots of signature cocktails but an extensive list of beer and wine selections too. We ordered the grilled pumpkin bread as a starter with our drinks. WOW! This really should have been dessert. Moist grilled pumpkin bread accompanied with burrata and a cranberry glaze. It was such a fun mix of flavors and absolutely delicious. For dinner we tried the Burgundy-Braised Wagyu Beef and the Pan Roasted Salmon. Our food came out super fast after we ordered it which was impressive. Both entrees were nice portions. The beef was so tender it melted in your mouth. It was nested on a bed of whipped potatoes and squash. Very nice presentation. The salmon was a hearty salmon filet nested on top of lima bean succotash and butternut squash puree. It was a bit surprising the succotash and puree were served cold with the salmon on top. It still tasted amazing but just an interesting mix of cold and hot food. Save room for dessert as they have a couple of tasty sweet treats to enjoy. We selected to pumpkin cheesecake since we started with pumpkin bread why not end with pumpkin cheesecake. A great experience with great service and great food. Well done Ivy & Varley!

Yelp
Just had dinner and I& V. We kept saying "wow" from the point we arrived. The atmosphere is warm and romantic. Our cocktails were masterfully created. The salmon appetizer was "wow" wonderful. And I don't say this lightly, but the pasta Alfredo was magnificent.our server Erik was busy with many tables, but he always managed to check in with us. This was a great " foodie" experience for us.

Yelp
Interior: 5/5 - Service: 5/5 - Food: 5/5 I like reading the one star reviews places receive and a lot are recent... Either the restaurant took the criticism and changed or those people are crazy. It was slow when I walked in and after eating I have no idea. All of the workers look professional while being able to express themselves in their style, I absolutely love when businesses encourage individuality--it creates a better work environment. Our server--adorable, she was quick, patient, kind: all of the things you'd want in a dining experience. The food and drinks were equally fantastic in every aspect. Whether it was appearance or taste, the entire plate-to-mouth journey was delightful. I'm not one to give 5 stars but Ivy & Varley is definitely deserving.

Yelp
Me and my girlies favorite spot to grab a drinks and fries and food! Great ambiance and delicious can't go wrong with this place!

Yelp
Upscale vibes at this place with the appropriate service especially from the hostess and the bartender, Olivia. She expertly navigated the complexities of dealing with my co worker and I, mostly him, and provided us with great remixed drink and food recommendations. Her engaging personality highlighted the experience as we were there on a Tuesday night so it wasn't the busiest. I'd think this would be a very trendy spot on the weekend and I intend to come back while on my stay here in SLC thru the weekend.

Yelp
Everything about this place was 5-star treatment. The service, the recommendations, the aesthetics, the FOOD... just everything. We tried the Grilled Beet Hummus, the Everything Brussels, and I had the All-American Breakfast for my entree. They were all 10/10, but the Brussels Sprouts and the maple syrup deserves a special call out, because WHAT??! We left with full hearts and stomachs.

Yelp
A beautiful awesome day amazing people of the world. We have ourselves another eff around and find out adventures in different cities of the world. Which brings us to Ivy and Varley in Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. An interesting fusion restaurant with a casual cozy feel. We're here to kill some time before bar hopping, so we went on ahead and ordered a couple of things. First we have the Wild Boar Ribs, which is definitely an exiting dish to have on the menu. I adore all the flavors that the meat is giving and that slaw is phenomenal. 9 out of 10! The second plate is the roasted beets hummus. That color is definitely everything and the beets were definitely the focal point of the flavor. I enjoyed this plate lots, it can get a 8 out of 10. Anywho, if you're ever in the area. Do give this spot a go at it and let me know what you think. If you like discovering new places to smash. Hit that like and follow button. Share this review with a smash mode buddy and thank you so much for reading along! I love you!

Yelp
drinks here were a little highly priced but strong. flavor was alright, a little dry for my taste but overall solid. atmosphere was good, they had live music booths but no music going though. all in all just a solid experience but nothing out of the ordinary espescially compared to places in the same price range nearby. But the classy atmosphere and high quality good options do make it a good option they also have a christmas pop up currently that i was able to visit. it was super pretty with some great holiday options. no unique food unfortunately but they had their christmas beverages in cool christmas themed glasses and mugs that were available for purchase. overall a great little space to host seasonal pop ups. it was really nice to be able to visit both and grab a few quick beverages.

Yelp
Made a reservation for 2 on a Thursday night because me and my boyfriend wanted to check out their holiday themed decor/menu. There's a separate entrance you walk through that has Christmas lights and a waiting area. We got there right on time for our reservation and had to wait about 15 min because our table wasn't ready. Every party that checked in after us was seated almost immediately. The inside of the restaurant was decorated nicely, but not super Christmas-y. After being sat, it took another 10 min before a server even arrived. Because we had so much time to look over the menu, we placed our drink & food orders at the same time. We got the Pina Colada Shades Beer and one of their holiday cocktails. I was surprised how small the holiday menu was (only 3 cocktails, no food). We ordered two pastas, the bolognese and the chicken Alfredo. It took about 15 min for the food to arrive. What really surprised me was that our food came out BEFORE our drinks! When the food arrived, I had to ask the server where our drinks were. The pastas were yummy, very filling portions. The cocktail I got was tasty. Overall, I don't think I will be coming back to this restaurant based on my experience with the service, although the food was good. Having to wait for these long periods of time on a Thursday (not even a weekend) makes me concerned about going on a more busy night when there's a DJ. To me, they seemed a bit short staffed.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
I made a reservation ahead of time for Saturday to have brunch. The first thing I noticed was the music--fun hip-hop oldies! The service was great, but we did have a little mix-up with our drinks, which got fixed quickly. The food was flavorful and came out hot! I ordered the All-American Breakfast and Everything Brussels. I'm a sucker for a classic breakfast, but the star of the show was the Brussels. Great ambience, fast services, and delicious food? Couldn't have asked for a better brunch spot.

Yelp
Ivy and barley is such a fun spot. Oh my gosh the outdoor bar area is so cute. I came on a girls trip. Our waiter knew absolutely everything about the menu, which I always love the fried lavender goat cheese is out of this world. The brussels sprouts were good, but definitely not amazing and the Kry fried rice was kind of a smaller portion than we were assuming. We came for drinks and it was perfect for that. I have not tried anything on the dinner menu, but I would definitely come back.!
google avatar

Matt R.

Yelp
The lack of available whiskeys on the menu was a huge downside but the most tender braised short rib more than made up for it and stole the show.
google avatar

Natalie B.

Yelp
As if their ambiance wasn't already amazing enough, they have some spectacular holiday decor up right now! Perfect for a special night out! This is my favorite spot for a nice cocktail, they're menu is outstanding and the seasonal specials are always on point :)
google avatar

Haylee A.

Yelp
k the fact that i'm writing a review about soup shows that this place is it. their sweet potato soup with bacon gouda specifically- woah. also my friend got the pumpkin bread topped with burrata and cranberry brandy and i still am thinking about that flavor combo ! oooo also their (free) bday celebration comes with firework cake eeeeee
google avatar

Susannah H.

Yelp
This my second time at this restaurant and I came back for their holiday special seating. It was very cozy with red and green lighting and Christmas decor all around. Very cute for a holiday night out. Chicken in the salad was very dry but other than that so good! Some of my favorite Alfredo anywhere. Food and drinks came out very quick
google avatar

Connie G.

Yelp
The location can be a bit confusing since they technically have two locations, but both spots serve from the same kitchen. We chose the 'patio' seating, and I was pleasantly surprised by the cool DTLA vibe. They have a trendy 'outdoor' bar, and the patio is technically enclosed, which will be perfect for Utah's unpredictable weather in the winter! The staff was super friendly, the food was good, and, most importantly, the drinks were great (especially for Utah!). We even stayed past closing time! It was a fantastic night, and I'd love to recreate it in the winter.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
Food - 4 Service - 4 Value - 3 I've been here a couple of times for work now and the food is fairly healthy and quite tasty as well. My own personal opinion is that they over-season the food though and it actually detracts from the overall experience.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Great food offerings and truly unique cocktails. The patio has a lovely vibe and can accommodate couples or larger groups. We stopped in for a quick bite on a Sunday morning. I made a reservation on the way and we were promptly seated. Highly recommend the shakshuka. Tomato sauce was perfectly seasoned and the eggs came out deliciously poached.
google avatar

Samantha L.

Yelp
We ate at the Varley side of the restaurant, we got the summer salmon andthe gnocchi. The gnocchi was probably my favorite, we also got two different variations of the espresso martini, the one with the coconut is the best, and a couple other summer drinks. It's a more quiet vibe here, but the food is always really good.
google avatar

Peter C.

Yelp
Brussels sprout & roasted beet hummus for appetizers: wow, so delicious! Got burgyndy-braised wagyu beef and cashew-kimchi bowl (with grilled chicken) for the entrees. Service (server was Sue) was amazing. The food was devine. I would come here weekly if I lived in Salt Lake City.
google avatar

April G.

Yelp
The outside patio is very nice and it was a perfect day. The service was friendly we went on a Saturday for brunch and it was pretty empty. Our food and drinks came at the right pace and everything tasted great. The only critique is the grilled pumpkin bread with cheese was a bit of an odd flavor combination.
google avatar

Mikki M.

Yelp
Made a reservation for a Saturday brunch and we had the best time! Service was good and everyone was friendly. They did forget one of our drinks and two friends wanted to split a dish, but they brought our two orders instead. They were quick to fix that though. The dining/bar area is open and clean. Lots of great lighting with beautiful greenery throughout. We ordered two bottles of mimosas and shots, and various dishes. My favorites were the potato and veggie hash, churro French toast, and the everything Brussel sprouts. Everything came out hot and in a timely manner. Would definitely recommend to others for brunch, and can't wait to come back and try their dinner menu.

Yelp
The lollipop app was delicious but small, and the oysters were way overdone they shouldn't have been sent out like that. The rest of the food was good with smaller portions. Service was good.
google avatar

Yelp
Probably one of my favorite restaurants so far in SLC. We made reservations here for my friends birthday, reservations are definitely needed! We ordered the everything brussel sprouts, chicken lollipops, gnocchi, gouda & garlic fries, and they gave us a beet hummus on the house! The everything brussel sprouts and beet hummus were my fave, the brussel sprouts were super crispy and I loved the everything seasoning. The beet hummus tasted super fresh and not super nutty like how hummus usually tastes. I ordered a banana old fashioned with henessey, it had a good banana taste. I am personally starting to really enjoy banana flavored drinks. The food came out super fast! Usually restaurants like this take awhile for the food to come out, but the food all came out in less than 20 min. I had alot of fun eating here, the vibes are great, and the foods and drinks are delicious.

Yelp
It would have been a higher rating if they had just responded to my concern. Three weeks now, and I have received not even an email. Messed up our order on a first date. Said they would fix it and refire the entire order. Got it 60 seconds later. Clearly not redone. Again, the biggest complaint is ignoring my inquiry. I go there all the time. That will end. I was refraining from a one star review and told them I would not, if only they would respond to me. Let's see if they respond to this post in a non defensive way, or if they respond criticizing me. Pro tip for those getting a bad review......don't redirect the blame on the reviewer. It never goes well.

Yelp
Sunday brunch time!!! It was drizzly and slightly snowy when we arrived at a little after 11am. The place was empty, but our group was told we could only sit at the bar so we did. My friend and I started off with mimosas and then she switched over to a Bloody Mary. We were both happy with our drinks. I had the all-American breakfast which I customized with two scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon and sourdough toast. My friend ordered the classic eggs Benedict which was an english muffin with kurabota ham and poached eggs piled on and aji-hollandaise with a side of breakfast potatoes. Very cool vibe and would definitely try this place again.

Yelp
Made reservations in advance. Was quickly seated when we arrived. The dining room on the Ivy side was nice (large vaulted ceilings, very industrial, dimly lit with Edison bulbs) but also felt a bit cold. Our entire party was vegetarian or vegan and our server Anthony was great with helping us find options on the menu (or select things that we could modify to be vegetarian). Before ordering, we opted for some cocktails/mocktails. We ordered the beet hummus, which I was unsure about because I don't love beets, but it was delicious! The kimchi cashew bowl didn't look that appetizing when it came out, but was very flavorful! I ordered the sweet potato soup (without bacon). I loved it -- the crispy sweet potato skins added excellent texture and flavor. Overall, a great meal in the heart of downtown SLC.

Yelp
Admittedly, I booked this reservation because I am a RHOSLC fan and I saw this on the show. But LET ME TELL YOU - it did not disappoint. The ambiance was super cool and we received great service. It's a nice restaurant so a little pricey but still reasonable for a date night. I still cannot stop thinking about the braised wagyu beef and only wish I could come back for it again (too bad I'm in Philly).

Yelp
My friends took me here for my birthday a couple years ago. We sat outside on the patio, it's very beautiful. We got drinks and appetizers. My friends must have told them it was my birthday, because the server came out with a cute cheesecake with a sparkler on it. The food was delicious! I've gone back here since with my fiancé and we sat at the bar inside, it's such a nice aura both inside and out. I did rate one less star since it is a bit expensive for what it is. Either way, I recommend trying it at least once!

Yelp
Ordered a Caprese sandwich to go. Bun was soggy and fell apart when trying to eat it. Prosciutto was cut too thick and could not chew it. Mozzarella should have been melted and was not. Was very expensive and certainly not worth what I paid. Service was not on point. Very disappointing.

Yelp
I met some friends for lunch today at Ivy & Varley in downtown SLC today (bar). The dining room wasn't busy at all considering it was peak lunch hour. The prices were fair and the food was delicious. They recently added some cheese and garlic fries to the menu, which were simply divine. I got the grilled chicken caprese sandwich, which was good but hard to eat. My friends got the wagyu burger and kale salad, both of which they enjoyed. I paired my meal with a Rags to Riches cocktail, which was delicious. Excited to try more cocktails here in the future. The server was very friendly and attentive. We've been here once in the summer for brunch, and they have one of the best patios in SLC. We'll be back to try dinner next for sure.

Yelp
A hip and lively place. There was live music and place was buzzing with well dressed party ready gals! The place is huge and well designed. Tay made us delicious drinks ! We ordered appetizers and enjoyed the vibe. There is no parking. I was lucky to get an open spot in the only three offered on the street outside the place.

Yelp
Love this place! I come here every time I'm in SLC for work. I typically get the kale Cesar sals with salmon which is delicious and has a bit of a kick to it! This visit I got the tuna tartare with wonton chips for an app and the grilled chicken caprese sandwich. Both were fantastic! The sandwich comes with grilled chicken (I believe it's dark meat), mozzarella, arugula and a slice of prosciutto. The chicken has great flavor. You can chose either French fries or a side salad. I was disappointed in the side salad as it was literally just lettuce no additional toppings or dressing. Great waitress she was friendly, check in on me and gave me recommendations. Cool vibe too, with black ceiling, exposed brick walls, wood floor and lots of greenery. Amazing outdoor patio as well!! Great spot for a girls night, date night or work event. Highly recommend
