The 23 Best Restaurants In Salt Lake City - Salt Lake City - The Infatuation

"A great cocktail bar with food that can go toe-to-toe with their drinks isn’t all that surprising these days, but how many times will you find one serving a sweet potato soup you can’t stop thinking about? That—and other dishes like thai coconut curry mussels and a delicious cashew-kimchi bowl—make Ivy & Varley stand out. Sip on the Enso with gin, shochu, and thai basil, or try the local rye Burnt Honey Old Fashioned while you wait for your snacks to arrive. Located near the Salt Palace Convention Center, this is the place to unwind after a boring conference on accounting software. If you value your hearing, snag an early reservation before the DJ starts playing at 8:30pm on weekends." - jenny willden

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a reservation for a party of 21 at Ivy & Varley, and it was a phenomenal experience from start to finish. As soon as we were seated, the team—including Larissa, Franco, Abby, Josh, and several others—took amazing care of us. Drinks and appetizers came out right away, and our entrees were taken and served with lightning speed. I was honestly blown away at how efficient and seamless it all was, especially for such a large group. The food was creative, unique, and unlike anything I’ve had before. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavor matched—absolutely delicious all around. The atmosphere was stylish with a fun, energetic vibe that made the evening even better. Hosting a group our size is no small task, but Ivy & Varley made it feel effortless. Highly recommend for both small dinners and big group events—we’ll definitely be back!

A Must for Spooky Season – Varley’s “Fright Club” is a Vibe! We came to Varley for their Halloween pop-up Fright Club, and wow — they nailed it. I booked a table of six for our friend’s birthday (definitely make a reservation — the space is small and fills up fast), and we were seated in a raised corner section framed by red velvet curtains with a wall of vampire hands holding candles. The decor alone deserves five stars — every inch of the place screams spooky chic, complete with a thunder-and-lightning cloud drifting across the bar. Our server Zach was fantastic — friendly, funny, and totally on top of it all night. He set the tone for a great experience and kept the drinks flowing. We each ordered different themed cocktails, each served in its own creative ceramic mug. My pick was the Whomping Willow, and it ended up being the winner of the night. Every drink we tried was a hit — not one miss in the bunch. We went all in on appetizers and ordered everything on the menu. Favorites were definitely the brussels sprouts, tuna, and crispy rice cakes — all super flavorful and perfectly done. Between the killer cocktails, great food, and totally immersive vibe, this is hands-down one of the most fun seasonal pop-ups I’ve been to. Whether it’s date night or a group celebration (ours even ended with a birthday dessert and sparkler!), Varley’s Fright Club is a Halloween hit done right.

We went to Ivy with a large group for a birthday, the restaurant doesn’t seem to have a big enough area to accommodate larger groups. The tables they put us at were terrible for a group to be able to hang out and communicate. The food was pretty mid. We ordered the kale Salad, Gouda french fries, artichoke dip and salmon. My husband said the salmon was terrible. It’s not a place I would choose to go to. At least The French 75 was good!

I went for the Halloween pop up last night. It was a FANTASTIC experience. I don’t drink alcohol and wanted to celebrate a birthday. They have non alcoholic beverages that are actually drinks not just a water or soda. It made me feel so good to be included in the experience and to have the experience of having a drink to celebrate.

Goth meets Disneyland, this decorated restaurant and bar is spooky and unique. There is an outdoor patio (recommended) and the indoor seating has dim lighting and is decorated over the top making this a unique place. Food was okay, we tried a variety of options, found the artichoke parmesean dip was very good so for a starter that is recommended.

Love this patio! Amazing with plants shade and a relaxed vibe. Food was hit and miss. Apps were very good. Burger was just ok. Drinks were on point.

This restaurant takes the box for extravagant outdoor experience. Food is fantastic! Great for a breakfast cup of coffee with your friends, afternoon recovery from breakfast, hangover, lunch, dinner with friends, or that special someone where your eyes can explore the dimly lit atmosphere where the dangling lights from the trees above shimmer and cat. Was fantastic. We loved our service and experience.

Overall, pretty disappointed in our experience here. We came out from Denver to celebrate my birthday and were recommended Ivy & Varley. Upon arrival, we were seated, but waited about 10 minutes before anyone greeted us or brought waters. It was only about 12:15, but they were already out of one of their lunch items: Shrimp & Grits. I ended up choosing the waygu bolognese which was good; I enjoyed that the pasta was made in house and they gave a hearty amount of meat. I also ordered a drink, but they forgot it and didn’t bring it until almost the end of the meal when I was able to ask another member working there to check. This made it that I was just about finished with my meal though and I was left trying to finish a drink fast before we left for another obligation. My partner got the waygu burger which you would think would be fine, but… this had us wondering how does one mess up a burger? The bun was burnt, Waygu burger so overly dry, and completely lacked flavor. My partner who usually is not picky about food and scarfs down most of his meals left about 3/4 of this burger. Overall, not the worst place we’ve ever been to, but between the burger experience, my drink, and the subpar service, it was lackluster and disheartening for a birthday lunch.

Yelp
This restaurant has the best vibe! I've been back multiple times for work events, birthday parties, and for special pop-ups. The vibe is adorable, with ivy laced across the walls by the outdoor lounge style seating and more upscale seating inside. My favorite drink is the nojito, which is a virgin blackberry mojito. The brussel sprouts appetizer is delicious! They are cooked to perfection and have a great seasoning. This time I got the burger, which was not my favorite thing I've ever gotten here. The meat seemed a little under seasoned and the burger overall lacked as much flavor as other entrees. The fries were good though, and so I will just pick something else next time for my entree. The cashew kimchi bowl is always a good choice. I've never had bad service at Ivy & Varley. I definitely recommend going if you haven't yet!

Yelp
Right in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, this spot delivers on both food and drinks. There was a bit of a wait to get in mainly due to the ID check being right in the courtyard entrance that everyone has to go through before entering the restaurant. The menu is stacked with great options, but the real star for me was the cocktails list. I consider myself a bit of an old fashioned connoisseur, and their burnt honey version might just be the best I've ever had. Very smooth with a hint of smokiness and subtle sweetness. For Starters, the Gouda & Garlic fries were a favorite in our group along with the Crispy Rice and Tuna Tartare. All of these dishes had great flavors that really popped and stood out. Service was friendly and attentive, however, there were a few small hiccups with some of the food orders in our group because of several other big parties that night. It did not take away from the experience though. All in all, this place is absolutely worth a visit for dinner, drinks, or both.

Yelp
The vibes here were super fun and cool! Just a heads up--there are two sides to the restaurant. If you're looking to chat and catch up with friends, make sure you sit on the non-bar/club side. We had no idea and got seated on the side with a DJ, which meant we were basically yelling to hear each other. Totally fine if that's the vibe you want, but good to know ahead of time. We went for brunch and the food was good. Both my friend and I got the churro French toast "bites" (definitely not bite-sized!) and they were pretty yummy. The only thing I wish is that the syrup had been warmed up and that they gave us more of it instead of the tiny bowl.

Yelp
Last night was a celebratory evening with dinner, drinks and the symphony. Ivy and Varley was the perfect location. We were running a bit late and they were able to hold our reservation. Jayda was very attentive and didn't rush us. Patio was perfect for the temps and ambiance making the dining area spectacular.

Yelp
What an adorable Halloween popup! Next door to Ivy + Varley, swanky and quirky! Love it! Bartender Sacrifice made me a Nojito extra like and pineapple mojita. Perfection is you like tart!

Yelp
First, I wanna start off by saying that Ophelia was extremely helpful and very patient with our big group and she definitely deserves praise for handling that many people at once! I'm pretty sure everyone got what they ordered as well. I got an appetizer which was the artichoke dip and the nonalcoholic coconut beverage. I absolutely did not like the artichoke dip because the pita was either too hard or too soft in some places or burned, the artichoke dip itself just didn't have enough cheese(?) and it tasted kind of weird versus any other artichoke dip I've ever had. Ophelia was awesome and definitely remedied the situation. I also had a non-alcoholic drink and it was very good. I really enjoyed it because it was so unique and flavorful. Great outdoor seating as well and very cool atmosphere. I will say the biggest reason for my lower star rating is because it was so expensive but the food was so meh. When I go out the eat the whole point is the meal. My colleague ordered steak and it showed up way too rare for him I'd say the food needs work. Prices as well. Waitress/staff are great - drinks are great. Easy street parking although you do have to pay which is also a bit annoying. Ambience was very classy and chic

Yelp
This was my first time in SLC, and I'm glad I got to visit Ivy and Varley. Food Got Churro French Toast Bites (loved the dulce de leche and berries), lavender-crusted goat cheese, and Avocado Toast Bites (savory). Also got the Wagyu Burger, which is better than the Ivy Breakfast Sandwich if you're debating between the two, not that the latter is bad at all. I personally got the Enso (Roku Gin, Iichiko Silhouette Shochu, Thai Basil, Lemongrass, Sesame, Lime), which we all liked. Service - we appreciated being moved to a shady table. Service was attentive, especially with all our drink orders. Ambiance Nice place to relax and chat. We sat outside on a very hot, sunny day. Fortunately, we got to move to a shady area once the prior customers left. I would definitely return.

Yelp
One of the few places open on a Sunday walking distance from the convention center. Good brunch. Sat at the bar. Enjoyed the huevos rancheros and the kale Caesar. Both excellent. Also had artichoke dip which was very good. Would come again!

Yelp
Attention: You must have a valid ID to enter this restaurant. Even if you do not plan to drink alcoholic beverages, you will not be permitted to enter the premises without proof that you are 21 years old or older. No exceptions, even if you're 80 years old, you are still required to show your ID (driver's license or passport). I thought it was bit ridiculous for this restaurant to have to card everyone. They said it was state law, but I found it odd that none of the other restaurants had this requirement. One member of our party who was clearly well over 21 had to search his backpack. He was visiting from Switzerland and the hostess did not accept his foreign ID. Thankfully, he had his passport with him. It took him a while to locate his passport, so we were all growing impatient. Oddly enough, despite all the fuss about being carded, none of us consumed alcoholic beverages. Aside from the initial frustration, we actually really enjoyed the restaurant. The food was really good and there were many healthy options, which I loved. Needless to say, this is not a family restaurant, as anyone under age 21 is not permitted.

Yelp
I went to Ivy & Varley on a Sunday in order to have a nice place to sit and have lunch while getting some work done. The restaurant had a great patio and nice bar inside. The bartender made great cocktails and I had the most amazing Wygu burger with a side of breakfast potatoes. When I left, I accidentally left my laptop behind. Although it took me calling 3 separate times, and finally speaking to a manger for them to find my laptop, I was very relieved and appreciative that Christine took the time and extra care to locate it for me. I highly recommend Ivy & Varley for great food, excellent cocktails, a great atmosphere, wonderful patio, and fabulous bar.

Yelp
We sat outside in the patio dining area and the weather plus their lighting and overall vibe was perfect. They were fairly busy, but it took awhile to get any attention from our server once we were seated. No water. No hello. She eventually showed up and apologized for the delay and we ordered a couple of drinks that were delicious, but over priced and very small... mostly ice. We chose the lavender goat cheese and Brussels sprout apps and they were outstanding. The Brussels were a healthy portion too! Next we got the chicken Alfredo and the Cashew Kim-Chi dish and both were outta this world! The chicken Alfredo is the best I've ever had apart from my friend John's home cooked version. No restaurant has come even close and Ivy blew me away. We boxed up most of the food to bring home and the server took forever to get the boxes. Idk if something was preventing her, but she seemed to be making excuses all night and by the end of the night we were the only people left in our section. Shouldn't have been difficult to serve us by that point. Overall the food was excellent and the service was 'meh'. I'll give it 4 stars. Could be better on the service and drinks.

Yelp
Fantastic lunch today at Ivy and Varley!! Our server, Penelope took great care of us!! I got the Forever Lavender to drink and the Strawberry Fields salad! Delicious!! My friends got the Chicken sandwich and Wagu burger!! I also got a free and festive dessert since it was my birthday!! Such a fun vibe!! We had a great time! Can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
Food was a little on saltier side. Customer could always add more, right? We got BEC burger which was super tasty and a salad with salmon. The best was the beet hummus with roti. They had a nice outdoor area as well as plenty of indoor space. Located less than 1 block away from convention center front lobby.

Yelp
Super cute place! We sat outside and it was super green and calm. We got the salmon and the Alfredo. The server was super nice and the food was ready quickly. Super cute and would definitely go again!

Yelp
I've been here a once before and that was late at night. Clearly I was happy to return. I do love the evening vibe here over daytime, but I have no complaints either way. They are known for drinks and have not disappointed at all. I'll certainly return. Today we also had lunch. The Strawberry Fields Salad was the winner for flavor. It also looked beautiful! I ordered the BEC Burger with fries and it was nice though nothing special. The fries however were really good. The brioche bun on a burger as expected disintegrated with each bite making it messy. It was ok for a burger, definitely not ordering it again. As always the service from host to server was awesome. I do like this place.

Yelp
Love the ambiance and the location. If you can, grab a seat outside by the fountain. Food was superb especially the Brussel sprouts. Now when it comes to alcoholic drinks, this place needs to do a better job with cocktails especially those that require soda water. Twice we asked for it to be fixed, and they couldn't get it right so we gave up. Otherwise, the service was amazing.

Yelp
I've been here during the day for lunch; and at night for drinks. For lunch, we ordered the steak, garlic fries, and pear goat cheese salad. They're all equally good. Nothing was left behind. We sat outside and really enjoyed the setting. It was the perfect weather for it and I'm glad we decided to eat there on a nice day. All the staffs were helpful and kindly walked us thru the menu. Parking can be found in the streets or lot so ensure to give yourself time to find one. At night, I only had cocktails and it's a different kind of vibe. The drinks were good; and bartenders were working efficiently to make us drinks without long waits. All are nice. Overall, I'd come back again to try their dinner.

Yelp
Service was great, outdoor seating area was really cool, and the apps, drinks, and dinner entrees were amazing. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
Popped into the bar side of the location to have a few drinks while taking a break from attending a conference. Bartender was quick to greet us and get a few menus over. We looked through a few of the signature options and the wine / beer list. I opted to try their version of an espresso martini, and it was excellent! The place itself had a modern lounge feel to it. The lighting was dimmed, and the bar took the majority of the middle of the floor. The bar was surrounded with bar height stools that were first come, first serve. Didn't order any food from here as the kitchen was not yet open when we visited. Overall: A Fun vibe, good drinks. Pricier but it's right by the conference center and that's to be expected for location.

Yelp
It's separated into two restaurants, but it's the exact same restaurant and menu. Very weird and slightly confusing when the place is empty. Our server didn't seem happy to be there and spent most of her time chitchatting with her coworkers, which means my guy and I had to wait every step of the way. I started with the Rosy Cheeks. It was good and not too sweet, but I wasn't really able to taste the guava. I can't remember which drink my guy had, but he enjoyed whatever it was. For food, we split the Chicken Lollipops (these were good, but there was way too much blue cheese mousse. There wasn't much meat, but it was cooked perfectly), Tuna Tartare with mango salsa on the side (loved this! This was soo good and I am obsessed with the wontons they used for this. The only thing I didn't like was that it was sitting in a pool of the sauce, which caused everything to get soggy quickly), and the Salmon Belly BLT (neither my guy nor I liked this one at all. The only good part was the fries it came with. My guy was starbing so he still ended up eating it, but it was a really disappointing entrée to end with). Place is average. Wouldn't want to come back if I came back to town.

Yelp
This place is super cute! There were plants and ambient/aesthetic lighting (but it wasn't too dark inside). The music was noticeable, but not overbearing. And they didn't kick us out even though we ended up staying and chatting for hours, which was great! The tuna tartare appetizer was AMAZING. Everything in the dish worked well together, and no single flavor was too overpowering. The fish and chips were from the "large plates" section of the menu -- and the plate was, in fact, large. Our server said people don't usually finish the large plates, and even with two people sharing one plate, we had a teeny bit leftover. The chicken caprese sandwich was good, and came with a choice of a side salad or fries (we went with fries). Most of the fillings stayed inside the sandwich while eating it, which is always impressive. Also, the blackberry no-jito (mocktail) was tasty, too!! This place is so cute, and the server was so fun. I'd definitely recommend this place if you want a cute place to catch up with some friends!!

Yelp
I was in Salt Lake this week, and needed a place for a business meeting/lunch. Not knowing Salt Lake like I used to years ago, I needed to find something that looked appealing. I found Ivy & Varley, and I'm so glad that I did. As you'll see by the entrées in the pictures I provided, every one of these dishes is a work of art. I really enjoyed the Mediterranean orzo salad, where I added the grilled shrimp to it. It was really good. I'm not a goat cheese fans, so I had them remove that. The rest of our team had the kale salad, which they said was very good, they wish they would've gotten the shrimp after they saw my dish. Other dishes on the table were the grilled salmon which looked amazing. I didn't get any feedback on that one. The burger, which I was told was very good, prepared perfectly. The service here was very good, as the lunch rush was very light that day. As mentioned, it was a very light lunch crowd, so the ambience and noise in here was quite low, it made for a really nice location for a business lunch. There were five of us, and they put us at a nice size table where we could have a conversation, get all of our entrées, and not be squeezed in. We did not sample any of the beverages other than soda and water, so I can't comment on any of the cocktails. They all sounded quite good by the description in their menu. The service was very good. All of our dishes came out very quickly, and we're very fresh and hot right off the grill. Thank you for the great experience.

Yelp
Fun patio seating! Super cute and great apps! This was the perfect spot to pop in after a day of conference meetings before the evening activities.

Yelp
Food 2/5- Strawberry salad with chicken was bland with over powering taste of goat cheese. The waygu burger had more flavor however the bun was a bit hard. Service 1/5- I'm still upset my partner tipped 25%. The service was horrible. He didn't come ask if we needed more drinks or water. Ambiance 5/5: The outdoor patio was a vibe.

Henry K.

Yelp
The staff made it incredibly clear that they believed my real ID was fake. It was very disrespectful. Either train your waitstaff to check out-of-state licenses or to be polite about double-checking. Ended up leaving without ordering.

Yelp
Had the melt in mouth Wagyu Beef! Amazing!! Also appreciated the birthday sparkler! Fun!!

Yelp
As I was preparing for my trip to Salt Lake City, this restaurant kept appearing on lists of must-try spots, so I decided to book a brunch reservation to celebrate my birthday. I have to say, it completely lived up to the hype. From the aesthetic to the service and food, this was easily one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. We kicked things off with some appetizers, and on Anthony's recommendation, we tried the Brussels sprouts--they ended up being my favorite dish! If you dine here, you absolutely must order them. For my main meal, I chose the American breakfast, swapping out the toast for pancakes. The pancakes were buttery, fluffy, and the eggs were scrambled perfectly. To top it all off, they brought out a dessert with a sparkler to celebrate my birthday. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Kevin P.

Yelp
A friend and I went to I&V for the first time. We chose the patio dining next to the fountain. Beautiful spot. Food all looked like from scratch. Some very innovative creations. Service was good, but once it was busy they seemed overwhelmed, and slow. We started with Salmon Crostini...Lox, Ciabatta, Whipped Brie, Berry Coulis, Pea Tendril, Candied Sesame. Super delicious. Then we ordered, 2 pasta dishes. Wagyu Beef Bolognese... Casarecce, Charred Tomato Sauce, Burrata, Basil. Chicken Alfredo...Linguine, Spinach, Parmesan, Crispy Prosciutto. Both were delicious. House made pasta. We took leftovers home for lunch the next day. Then, we split a dessert...Malted Chocolate Cremeux...Oat Brittle, Grand Mariner Mascarpone, Orange Zest. Breaking through the topping, there was a super rich, chocolate pudding underneath. Very good. Definitely will try this place again! Thx!

Yelp
Stopped in for a light breakfast and some morning alcohol b/c...Utah. The restaurant is confusing to a first-timer b/c it looks like 2 separate establishments. Jake (clearly from Statefarm) was my bartender and this man's cocktails are as amazing as his personality... Banana old fashioned - aaaaauughhhlllll (Homer Simpson drool) divine. Moonbeam - ahhhhhh...Refreshingggg.... Light (but not on the booze) and citrusy. The burnt cinnamon stick adds a slight flavor infusion that elevates the drink to new heights. Hibiscus margarita - not only is it a visually appealing drink, but also citrus, refreshing and offers an interesting flavor complexity. All-American breakfast - the sourdough toast and vegan sausage were pretty tasty and the eggs fluffy. B/c of a cheese snafu, Jake was kind enough to, unnecessarily, go above and beyond to rectify the situation, demonstrating superior customer service skills and solidifying his place, not only as a master mixologist but the #1 insurance agent in the region. He put the cherry on top of a wonderful 1st visit to Utah!

Yelp
Everything we ordered was delicious! Our party ordered lavender crusted goat cheese, salmon crostini, classic American burger, and the pork shank. Everything was expertly prepared and very tasty. The restaurant is large with a lovely outdoor seating area and multiple indoor areas, including a large bar. A DJ joined us near the end of our meal and the place really got hoppin'. Our waitress was friendly but refills had to consistently be requested, adding to a pattern of non-anticipatory service. Overall, I'd definitely return as the food was excellent, environment offered diverse experiences, and prices were as expected for this level of restaurant.

Yelp
So me and my man had an 8:30 res and were excited for a rare date night (we work a lot and barely get time like this). We showed up and it was chaos. The host said it'd be just a couple more minutes, so we walked around waiting for the "your table is ready" text. We came back at 9 and got hit with a "30 more minutes" + "kitchen's 40 minutes out." No apology, no offer, no snacks. The host didn't really seem to care, which lowkey made it worse. I was sad, cause I had my whole heart set on that bussing bolognese and the night kind of flopped. Just wanted to share cause maybe don't offer so many reservations if you can't fulfill them.

Yelp
Wow we've driven by Ivy & Varley for a long time and finally decided it was time to enjoy dinner there and experience this place. It's really two separate establishments sharing the same kitchen. Ivy is more the traditional restaurant where Varley is more of a nice cocktail bar. They share the same menu for both sides so either one is nice. Since it's considered a bar by Utah standards no kids are allowed. We were greeted promptly and seated right away and the vibe of Varley is nice. Modern lights and artwork in a big spacious setting. The bar is well displayed and there's seating at the bar or various tables throughout. We had a nice two top cocktail table for our experience. Cocktails are definitely their specialty but the drink menu not only boasts lots of signature cocktails but an extensive list of beer and wine selections too. We ordered the grilled pumpkin bread as a starter with our drinks. WOW! This really should have been dessert. Moist grilled pumpkin bread accompanied with burrata and a cranberry glaze. It was such a fun mix of flavors and absolutely delicious. For dinner we tried the Burgundy-Braised Wagyu Beef and the Pan Roasted Salmon. Our food came out super fast after we ordered it which was impressive. Both entrees were nice portions. The beef was so tender it melted in your mouth. It was nested on a bed of whipped potatoes and squash. Very nice presentation. The salmon was a hearty salmon filet nested on top of lima bean succotash and butternut squash puree. It was a bit surprising the succotash and puree were served cold with the salmon on top. It still tasted amazing but just an interesting mix of cold and hot food. Save room for dessert as they have a couple of tasty sweet treats to enjoy. We selected to pumpkin cheesecake since we started with pumpkin bread why not end with pumpkin cheesecake. A great experience with great service and great food. Well done Ivy & Varley!

Yelp
No one believes me when I say my favorite burger in all of SLC is from an upscale bar, but this is truly the best! Do NOT skip the Brussel Sprouts! A really beautiful spot, great for date night or brunch.

Yelp
Good food. Way, way too loud. Wait staff was quite friendly. If noise doesn't bother you, this is a great place.

Yelp
Everything about this place was 5-star treatment. The service, the recommendations, the aesthetics, the FOOD... just everything. We tried the Grilled Beet Hummus, the Everything Brussels, and I had the All-American Breakfast for my entree. They were all 10/10, but the Brussels Sprouts and the maple syrup deserves a special call out, because WHAT??! We left with full hearts and stomachs.

Yelp
Interior: 5/5 - Service: 5/5 - Food: 5/5 I like reading the one star reviews places receive and a lot are recent... Either the restaurant took the criticism and changed or those people are crazy. It was slow when I walked in and after eating I have no idea. All of the workers look professional while being able to express themselves in their style, I absolutely love when businesses encourage individuality--it creates a better work environment. Our server--adorable, she was quick, patient, kind: all of the things you'd want in a dining experience. The food and drinks were equally fantastic in every aspect. Whether it was appearance or taste, the entire plate-to-mouth journey was delightful. I'm not one to give 5 stars but Ivy & Varley is definitely deserving.

Yelp
Upscale vibes at this place with the appropriate service especially from the hostess and the bartender, Olivia. She expertly navigated the complexities of dealing with my co worker and I, mostly him, and provided us with great remixed drink and food recommendations. Her engaging personality highlighted the experience as we were there on a Tuesday night so it wasn't the busiest. I'd think this would be a very trendy spot on the weekend and I intend to come back while on my stay here in SLC thru the weekend.

Yelp
A beautiful awesome day amazing people of the world. We have ourselves another eff around and find out adventures in different cities of the world. Which brings us to Ivy and Varley in Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. An interesting fusion restaurant with a casual cozy feel. We're here to kill some time before bar hopping, so we went on ahead and ordered a couple of things. First we have the Wild Boar Ribs, which is definitely an exiting dish to have on the menu. I adore all the flavors that the meat is giving and that slaw is phenomenal. 9 out of 10! The second plate is the roasted beets hummus. That color is definitely everything and the beets were definitely the focal point of the flavor. I enjoyed this plate lots, it can get a 8 out of 10. Anywho, if you're ever in the area. Do give this spot a go at it and let me know what you think. If you like discovering new places to smash. Hit that like and follow button. Share this review with a smash mode buddy and thank you so much for reading along! I love you!

Yelp
drinks here were a little highly priced but strong. flavor was alright, a little dry for my taste but overall solid. atmosphere was good, they had live music booths but no music going though. all in all just a solid experience but nothing out of the ordinary espescially compared to places in the same price range nearby. But the classy atmosphere and high quality good options do make it a good option they also have a christmas pop up currently that i was able to visit. it was super pretty with some great holiday options. no unique food unfortunately but they had their christmas beverages in cool christmas themed glasses and mugs that were available for purchase. overall a great little space to host seasonal pop ups. it was really nice to be able to visit both and grab a few quick beverages.

Yelp
Made a reservation for 2 on a Thursday night because me and my boyfriend wanted to check out their holiday themed decor/menu. There's a separate entrance you walk through that has Christmas lights and a waiting area. We got there right on time for our reservation and had to wait about 15 min because our table wasn't ready. Every party that checked in after us was seated almost immediately. The inside of the restaurant was decorated nicely, but not super Christmas-y. After being sat, it took another 10 min before a server even arrived. Because we had so much time to look over the menu, we placed our drink & food orders at the same time. We got the Pina Colada Shades Beer and one of their holiday cocktails. I was surprised how small the holiday menu was (only 3 cocktails, no food). We ordered two pastas, the bolognese and the chicken Alfredo. It took about 15 min for the food to arrive. What really surprised me was that our food came out BEFORE our drinks! When the food arrived, I had to ask the server where our drinks were. The pastas were yummy, very filling portions. The cocktail I got was tasty. Overall, I don't think I will be coming back to this restaurant based on my experience with the service, although the food was good. Having to wait for these long periods of time on a Thursday (not even a weekend) makes me concerned about going on a more busy night when there's a DJ. To me, they seemed a bit short staffed.

Yelp
I made a reservation ahead of time for Saturday to have brunch. The first thing I noticed was the music--fun hip-hop oldies! The service was great, but we did have a little mix-up with our drinks, which got fixed quickly. The food was flavorful and came out hot! I ordered the All-American Breakfast and Everything Brussels. I'm a sucker for a classic breakfast, but the star of the show was the Brussels. Great ambience, fast services, and delicious food? Couldn't have asked for a better brunch spot.

Yelp
Ivy and barley is such a fun spot. Oh my gosh the outdoor bar area is so cute. I came on a girls trip. Our waiter knew absolutely everything about the menu, which I always love the fried lavender goat cheese is out of this world. The brussels sprouts were good, but definitely not amazing and the Kry fried rice was kind of a smaller portion than we were assuming. We came for drinks and it was perfect for that. I have not tried anything on the dinner menu, but I would definitely come back.!

Yelp
The lack of available whiskeys on the menu was a huge downside but the most tender braised short rib more than made up for it and stole the show.

Yelp
As if their ambiance wasn't already amazing enough, they have some spectacular holiday decor up right now! Perfect for a special night out! This is my favorite spot for a nice cocktail, they're menu is outstanding and the seasonal specials are always on point :)

Yelp
This my second time at this restaurant and I came back for their holiday special seating. It was very cozy with red and green lighting and Christmas decor all around. Very cute for a holiday night out. Chicken in the salad was very dry but other than that so good! Some of my favorite Alfredo anywhere. Food and drinks came out very quick

Yelp
The location can be a bit confusing since they technically have two locations, but both spots serve from the same kitchen. We chose the 'patio' seating, and I was pleasantly surprised by the cool DTLA vibe. They have a trendy 'outdoor' bar, and the patio is technically enclosed, which will be perfect for Utah's unpredictable weather in the winter! The staff was super friendly, the food was good, and, most importantly, the drinks were great (especially for Utah!). We even stayed past closing time! It was a fantastic night, and I'd love to recreate it in the winter.
