Last year my friend and I each purchased a dress from this shop. The dresses are unique. They were not cheap, in the $170 dollar range. The owner was very friendly ONCE she knew we were serious about buying a dress from her. She does talk non-stop which was a bit annoying, but small price to pay to get unique dresses. This year we brought 2 additional friends who know how much we like the dresses, with us to shop at the store. Our ages range from 44 to 70 and we did bring a 3 year old with us in a stroller. We all were interested in purchasing something unique. The first thing I did was look at a dress that was in the front of the store. The owner yelled at me for touching the dress, saying it was behind a rope she used to keep people out. The rope had been moved by someone else and I had no idea I was in error, until she yelled at me! She was so condescending and rude, all four of us just stopped looking and walked right out of the store. I will never go back in that store! This is actually the only review I have ever written, and it is because it is the worst I have ever been treated in any store in my life.

The cloths are so fun in this store but the first time I shopped, I almost walked out because the owner wanted to talk about the cloths too much. I just wanted to be free to look, not hear a dissertation about the store and each item. I stayed because I was with a friend and my friend found something to purchase. This spring I came with same friend and 2 others and was ready to spend money but instantly the same situation plus she was chewing her gum loudly which I get easily irritated by. We lasted maybe 5 minutes in the store when the owner reproved my friend for going past a ‘roped’ area in the front window to look at a garment. The situation could have been handled in a more winsome , less rude manner. We probably won’t go back. So sad

Very unwelcoming. I am a young adult and walked in with my teen sister trailing me. I enjoy boutiques and sustainability, right when I walked in the door I grabbed and verbally showed interest in a dress. I got yelled at for tugging on the dress. I let it slide as she voiced that that hanger falls often but I was not pulling on it and her tone was quite unwelcoming. As my sister and I walked towards the back she said in an annoyed voice "This is an arts store, not a trendy store", being stubborn I decided to stay in there and say to my sister "I would love to get this if that lady wasn't so mean". As we were leaving we passed her having quite a nice conversation with another customer in a much different mood. I don't write reviews often, but treating someone different because of their age is not something I wanted to experience today.

Happened to be walking through stores in Valley Junction...found a couple good ones. Ivy Lane had just what I was looking for..a comfortable..long duster to add to my wardrobe and purse to match. Going in for another one on Wed that Allison found for me. Stop in.

No stars here. I felt the owner was very rude, no greeting at all. I felt like she body shamed me, I was looking at the small section on a sale rack, when she finally did speak to me and said I was in the smaller part of the clothes rack and the large sizes were also there. Really? I will not be visiting this store ever again. I see some other negative reviews, not surprised! I grew up and still live in Valley Junction, it's really too bad she takes up that space!

Terrible, owner follows you around like you’re a full on burglar trying to steal all of her wares. Wouldn’t let me handle and inspect an item I was interested in from the display window. Just because I don’t LOOK the part of high end yuppie doesn’t mean I don’t have the money to treat myself with nice things, but in the future I will definitely be treating myself elsewhere.

The owner harasses and creates a hostile environment for anyone that’s not the owners ‘ideal’ demographic, something I’ve experienced myself… looking at the other reviews it appears as though her antics can be racially charged at times as well 😬😬 she has some nice things in there, but there are plenty of local businesses in Des Moines with nice things AND a friendly environment, I’ll keep my *green* money in those establishments. Edit: Must be hard to get a 2.5 star rating when you only have a 4 hour window to harass people just 4 times per week… telling.

Very bad experience!!! Never going back.. the "owner" follows you arround, harassing you, because she thinks ppl are going to steal from her and she said it like that! I felt racism, I have never felt like this before.. only store in Valley Junction, where I was treated this way.
