Decent Food, Pricey, and Service Needs Improvement
The price is on the higher side, but the food was decent and flavourful. However, the tong sui portions were quite small compared to what I usually get in KL.
Environment – Loved the Nyonya-style decor, and the space was spacious and comfortable.
Service – This is where the experience fell short. The waiter’s communication skills need improvement. He asked if we preferred Mandarin or English, but his Mandarin wasn’t fluent. When we inquired about the king prawns (RM25 per 100g), he told us the minimum order was 4 ekor and estimated their weight to be around 100g total—so we placed the order. However, when the bill arrived, it turned out to be nearly 300g, which was unexpected.
Additionally, while we were still eating, he suddenly asked us a confusing question in Mandarin, leaving us quite shocked. Only when he switched back to English did we understand he was asking about the food. It would have been better to ask for feedback after we had finished eating rather than interrupting mid-meal.
On top of that, when we asked for the bill, he inquired whether we wanted to pay by cash or card. We chose card, but instead of providing a detailed breakdown of our order, he simply brought over the credit card machine with the total amount already keyed in. This felt quite rushed and lacking in transparency, as we didn’t get to verify the individual prices of the dishes before making the payment. That’s when we realized the miscommunication about the prawn pricing.
Also, despite the restaurant being empty, the waiting time was longer than expected.
Overall, the food is worth trying, but the service definitely needs improvement.
