Absolutely an amazing meal! I loved it so much I went back the following Friday. The food is incredible. The service was above and beyond. Our waiter was pleasant, knowledgeable and very friendly. The sangria is a must! The manager was incredibly friendly. She showed us their party room and was very patient. I give our meal a 10! I can’t wait to go back! Favorite part was the key lime dessert!!!!

Wowwwww I have never been so happy being at a restaurant before. Drinks, food, service, managers. Everything incredible! I can’t wait to go back!! Juan our server was amazing and so tentative to our table and just everything was perfect. Thankful to find a new place to eat !

Ixchel Mexican Cuisine is an absolute gem! The food was incredible — every dish was full of authentic flavor and beautifully presented. The drinks were just as impressive, perfectly crafted and full of personality. What really made the experience special was the owner, Daphnee. She personally came to our table before every course, explained each dish in detail, and happily answered all of our questions. Her passion for the restaurant and the cuisine truly shines through. To top it all off, every dessert is made in-house — and you can taste the care and quality in every bite. If you’re looking for an exceptional dining experience with amazing food, drinks, and warm hospitality, Ixchel Mexican Cuisine is a must-visit.

Second time coming to Ixchel and decided to sit at the bar this time. Amazing service by our bartender Jonathan. We ordered two appetizers, the flautas and shrimp. 100% recommend the shrimp in chipotle sauce. Will definitely be coming back!

We decided to try IXCHEL for a celebratory birthday brunch, and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, and the drinks were fun and well made. The service was friendly, attentive, and respectful. We look forward to returning!

There are very few places that provide what I like to call a “wow experience”. Wife and I walked in on a last night (1/16) without a reservation. The hostess was very welcoming and let us know it would be a 15-20 minute wait. No problem, we headed to the bar where we tried their cocktails which were delicious. We were seated and were immediately greeted by our server who took our drink and appetizer orders and read the nights specials. We ordered the sopecitos as an app which were amazing. The order included 3 different sopes (chicken, steak, chorizo). This app felt more like an entree due to portion size, but im not complaining. We were then given our main course which were the Kanki Shrimp & Red Snapper Pibil special. They did not skimp out on the Shrimp, and the snapper was full of flavor with a kick. I was impressed with the overall experience. Great atmosphere, delicious food & attentive service. Looking forward to visiting again.

Upscale dining with amazing cocktails. The service is fantastic. I swear, every time we go the food actually gets better. Hands down the best chips and salsa on Long Island.

I’ll start with the pluses, waitress was outstanding. Staff in general were fantastic. Place is beautiful. Presentation of drinks also fabulous. But our food was sub par. Everything needed sauces to give it any flavor. $23 quesadilla was so bland. They don’t season the chicken inside it? Cauliflower tacos also flavorless without sauces. Had to add salt and lime to the guacamole. Tamales were decent but also needed the sauce to have flavor. My friend and I split the bill and it came to $94 each. That’s a lot for one drink each and basic appetizers and tacos. I would not recommend. I’d be hesitant to go back and try a better main dish or special based on the lack of flavor of some pretty basic stuff. We didn’t even try the desserts because the meal was so disappointing.

As a Queens Native, it is very hard to find great Mexican food in Suffolk county. this place blows even New York City restaurants out of the water. The sangrias are HUGE...and the meals are delicious!!! The owner mentioned some of their produce is imported. Such a great place for a first date, celebration or just to hang out at the bar

This is such a cute spot! The decor and vibes are great! The bar was a nice spot to sit on the swings, felt like I was on vacation. The food was delicious. Our service was good for a busy weekend night. The drinks were beautiful. The guacamole was made in front of us on the guacamole cart and it was delicious. Dessert A+ Definitely will be back again! Cute for a date night or night out with friends.

Met friends for dinner and was totally impressed with this Mexican restaurant. The outside is nothing to write home about but inside I was very impressed with the decor. Greeted warmly at the entrance and immediately seated ( reservations are recommended) where we were welcomed by our server Fatima who was friendly, courteous and gave us ample time to review the drink and food menus ( which are extensive). We were served chips with warm salsa to start off the evening. The red sangria was flavorful and not drowned in fruit as with other restaurants. We started with an order of guacamole which is freshly made at your table and is absolutely amazing. The Kanki Shrimp, Arrachera Uxmal and Bronzino El Castillo were all well portioned and flavorful though a bit pricey. Topped off the dinner with cappuccinos, Flan de Coco and Churros Mexicanos. Churros were tasty but the Flan was dry. Restaurant offers a bar area with seating along with swing seating for the more daring. Large dining area with ample seating along with an outside seating area weather permitting. Overall good food, service and ambiance. Parking lot is rather small so you may have to park across the strFor those celebrating a birthday the staff offers a shooting sparkler while singing to you.

Came here to catch up with friends and had a wonderful time! The ambience is superb with multi-level seating. All the food we ordered was flavorful and the drinks were delicious and strong. I highly recommend this restaurant for a fun night and would definitely come back again!

A Beautiful Hidden Gem Wonderful Food & Service at Ixchel We recently dined at Ixchel Mexican Cuisine and was thoroughly impressed. From the outside, it doesn't immediately stand out, but once inside, the atmosphere is stunning -- chic, bohemian, modern, and so well crafted. The hostesses gave us a warm welcome, and while we waited (at a bar that features swings!), we enjoyed their fantastic mango margaritas. When our table was ready, we were led into the dining room, where the lighting and décor created an elegant, intimate vibe. Tables are well distanced so you don't feel crowded. We began with guacamole prepared tableside, served alongside warm salsa -- a great start. For mains, we ordered the steak & chicken fajitas, and a massive seafood paella. Both were generous and delicious. What really stood out was the service: our waitress was outstanding, and the whole team (bartenders, hosts, servers) made us feel genuinely valued and welcomed.

I was so excited to try this spot on "Old Town Rd" during a recent visit out east. The ambiance by the bar and main floor was amazing as my friend and I waited for our 7:45 reservation. We were seated 20 mins later at a large round table in their upstairs loft space that was already occupied by a feisty party of 15 plus people. It was clear that someone must have messed up because we felt like interlopers at their private event. We could barely hear each other over the loud debates about life and family dramas going on behind us. Our server Juan promptly got our drink and food orders in, but the kitchen was clearly backed up. While I enjoyed my Rose-rita, I didn't get why they put a wilted carnation in it for garnish. I secretly wished we had just eaten at the bar where the vibe was less lively and the drink making super entertaining. Juan did his best to check in on us, but he also got bogged down by that large party upstairs. As we waited to pay the check, one of the more stunning members of this group approached us to compliment my friend's top. That was enough for me to give Ixchel another chance.

This is a beautiful place. Warm yet contemporary. Lovely outdoor space. Very friendly staff, Roberto was very kind. Many selections and fun looking drinks.

Place was very nice inside. Drinks were good and food was delicious. Our server was not that good but other servers we observed seemed very well. Maybe our guy had a bad day. Will def be back.

The outside of this restaurant is very unassuming, the inside is bright, modern, clean yet welcoming. I love the swing chairs in the bar! Just don't sit in one of those after a couple of drinks! Lol. I had the watermelon margaritas, it was so good. The owner himself created it. Their salsas were the best I ever had in any Mexican restaurant! Hard to describe but the combination of the flavors, texture play well together. The grilled octopus is the most tender I ever had, so tender that it melts in your mouth! The mango sauce adds a perfect hint of sweetness. We garbled it up on no time. The tacos were good but over shadowed by octopus! Lol. We had birria, pork and chimichurri. The birria was a bit dry, still have good flavor, the other two were juicey, I wish the seasoning were a tad stronger. Overall was great food. Love the vibe, drinks, and the octopus!

Came here on a Friday night for a retirement party, went back Sunday for brunch. That's how good it is. This place is pretty lowkey from the outside, you'd never know how stunning the inside was!!! It's unique and clean. Let me start with dinner. Make reservations!!! The place was PACKED. we parked by the bank next door. The menu has a lot of options, it took awhile to read through & for the entire table to know what they'd like. Everything was delicious! Especially the steak tacos! The free chips and dip are also super good. I really enjoyed my watermelon drink. I think it was some type of margarita. The only complaint we had was it was a bit of a wait for the food, but we were also a huge table on a Friday night. When I went for brunch on Sunday it wasn't bad at all. We parked easily & the food once again was amazing. I had the coconut pineapple mimosa & a waffle. The batter they used was very unique. I'm excited to go back!

I had a business lunch at Ixchel and was very happy with my choice. We ordered the guacamole which was amazing! The perfect appetizer for a delicious meal. The Sangria was probably the best I've ever had. I was warned that Ixchel was pricey, however I thought it was reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food. I'll definitely be going back!

Ixchel has officially brought back their Sunday brunch option and I could not be more excited. I knew they had amazing food from going to dinner here a few times.... and the breakfast did NOT disappoint in the slightest. The inside of this restaurant transports you to somewhere warm... They have SO MANY amazing mimosa options it is SO hard to choose. Luckily they do 2 hr bottomless mimosas where you actually get to choose from their signature flavors. The bartenders were so nice. What we ordered: - MOLLETES - OMELETTE MAYA - K'IN TACOS - WAFFLES - Cucumber and Mint Mimosa - Strawberry Mimosa - Passionfruit Mimosa - Mañana Dominical - Tamarindo (**this was so good**)

My wife and I dined at Ixchel Mexican Cuisine on a Sunday night. I was very surprised that the restaurant was mostly empty after reading all the reviews of people that had to wait a long time to be seated at a table. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful especially the bar section. We started with the tableside guacamole (Ritual De Guacamole a la Mesa). It was so creamy and fresh. The totopos (chips) that came with the guac and salsa were so good and we couldn't stop eating them. I ordered the 3 tacos (Santuario De Los Tacos) for my entree. I had the Birria, Chimichurri and the Shrimp. The Chimichurri came with a small side of beef broth to dip, and it was my favorite. For dessert, we had the Tres Leches cake. It was unique as it had a top layer of shredded coconut. The restaurant is pricey, but their portions are really huge.

Cauliflower taco was the favorite at the table tonight. The ambiance was lovely and the service was wonderful.

Food was good service was good had a little issue with our reservation I confirmed via instagram (assumed that was the hostess - provided name and phone number ) but when we got they they did not have our reservation. The hostess was very very kind and got us a great table by the window no issues. Drinks were very delicious I ordered the fajitas they were good but I wasn't a big fan of the melted cheese on top but still very good!

Jim Simons once said that a successful leader would arm himself/herself with a group of smarter people. And this was exactly came into my mind after dining in here last night. The funny prelude to share. I did read reviews prior to going to the establishment. The tip given was parking across at the Apple Bank instead of the valet parking. So we followed the two cars ahead of us into the bank parking. Easy and empty since it was an early dinner at 5:30pm reservation. When we walked to the entrance of the restaurant, i could feel a dirty look from those guys at the valet parking. lol! How classy we were. Sorry guys. Then, a front desk hostess asked if we had a reservation and yes of course. That's what we often do. But I was telling myself I hoped this would not be the jinx mentioned by other patrons. Thanks God! Soon enough, the owner appeared seamlessly in one of the crispiest, whitest, sharpest, and above all meticulously ironed dressing shirt , to greet us. He was in great shape and scintillating. He gave my husband a warm hand shake, said hi to everyone with a nice smile. Then right after, his wife came up to greet us (I believe to every guess enters their restaurant) She was in a bodycon figure flattering black jumpsuit. Perfect silhouetted her sexy Latin shape in a passionate, strong-willed and cheerful style! Wow, I was thinking this place is for real! Then we were led by our waitress who was also in a genuine cheerful manner to a nice welcoming and clean well-set table. So far everything seemed promising. But not yet wait for all dishes to debut. My family was very efficient. Every one knew exact what they want. Fish: 10/10. I never let any whole fish slip my eyes and belly. I zeroed in for the grilled whole Bronzino but required oil on side and use as little oil to grill as possible. And the waitress knew exactly my preference. However I did think it was worthy of mentioning that the garlic olive oil sauce was very very rich in flavors. The fish was so good and baby butt tender, buttery and perfect seasoned and excited in many ways. The skin had no fishy tasty nor smell. Absolutely a knockout! What also impressive was the size of my fish. It was about at least 1.5 lbs if not much more! For the price we paid, it was the sweetest deal! The mini purple and yellow potatoes were also up there in terms of flavor with the leading role of my entrees. Under the potatoes there was a tiny spicy surprise. I thought how witty and special that was. Meat platter: 8/10 The chicken was very good. Again flavor was not even an issue here. Juicy inside with some very charming grilling marks. Mushrooms onions were well sautéed. Guacamole: 10/10 They had a guacamole lady pushing a cart/staion cart to each table. She made the freshest and cleanest guacamole. It was like a Dim Sum cart visiting every table for the house made chips dipping. Also very generous in portion! Salsa sauce: 11/10! Yes, it is not a typo! 11/10! It was the best salsa ever outside of Mexico I presume since I have never been to Mexico YET. lol. Seriously, the sauce was slight warm. As if it just oozed out from a mother's warm soothing hands with ONLY three freshest cleanest ingredients: tomato, onion and lime!!! Can I tell you that I even asked the waitress to give me one to take to go with my leftovers. She was so fabulous! Thank you! I am so going to drizzle some onto my dish to highlight it the following day The soup: per my son 10/10. He just simply told me:" Mama, sorry the soup is better than your miso soup! But I still love yours, OK? " He finished with his spoon scratching the bottom numerous times. The dessert: per my family excellent. I did not touch dessert. I liked the coconut cake by the look though. The only dish I would say needs more work was the seafood rice in pyramid. It was mushy and with little seafood but flavor was there. We left a big portion. The ambiance was very relaxing, homey and like a Mexican big family. The owners and waitress and service staff came by numerous times to make sure we had a good time and good food. The working staff were in nice simple uniform. They all really seemed liking and respecting their responsibility. I was certain the owners must be very experienced in restaurant business. They highlighted the restaurant with good product (quality and flavor), good price ( generous portion), place and promotion ( they did through by offering good service, well-trained staff). Wish them long-lasting blossom and add more creativity and innovation to the menu.

Everything was great, from the service to the beautiful bar area to the food and drink items. The tacos were tasty and filling. Complimentary chips and salsa, as well as rice and beans were really good. All drinks were tasty. Considering how packed this place is, everything came out super fast. The bar area is a beautiful date spot. The dining area is great for work dinners, and the booths that fit up to six people are perfect for a group of friends or family celebrating a special occasion. I definitely recommend making a reservation and familiarizing yourself with the menu before you go.

My family was visiting Long Island for a wedding and after an hour meet and greet for the rehearsal drinks we were starved. Came across Ixchel on yelp and we headed over. They were packed, a great sign, and did ask if we had reservations. It seemed that having a reservation for here was more the norm than just walking in, so the hostesses seemed a little surprised and was quick to assure us that they will seat us but it may take a little bit of time. Just a short 15-20 minutes that let us take in the beautiful decor of moss covered ceilings, Mayan masks and carpet, and this creative section of the bar that had swings (awesome place for photos). The inside was just as beautiful with wicker light cages and a mix of booth and chairs and tables. We got a back corner and had the best server, Carlos, who honestly made this night a delight. The salsa here is different than any we've ever had, being served warm and more of a marinara in texture and feel but with that same salsa taste you'd expect and served with a basket of blue and white corn chips. Naturally as native Californians we had to have the guacamole, the space was too tight for the rolling table to watch it be made but that was fine. Fresh and well seasoned it was a solid passing grade, but after talking to Carlos we got a side of their jalapeños which were not spicy at all but still brought in that specific taste and crunch, upped the dish up to A-. Take away here, if you like jalapeños, make sure to ask for extra. Our dishes were a range so let's go around the table at start with my sister-in-law who had the shrimp cocktail without octopus (yes that is a real question you will be asked). It was a beautiful presentation with a tall glass of cocktail over a bed of chips. Lots of shrimp and seasoned to be light with a kick. My brother had the chicken enchiladas; served in a bowl of green sauce that was more akin to a salsa verde the three enchiladas were decent. Chicken was well seasoned and flavorful, however there was a bit too much sauce. It helped to soak it up with the rice but my brother had noted it would have been better if it had been served on a flat dish with less sauce. A solid second option though should he ever revisit. My mother had the Poblano soup with corn and cheese. This is a soup and a good choice for someone not hungry enough for a full entree but needing something. Thick and creamy with excellent cheese pulls and lots of corn, this is a perfect light dish. My entree was the taco sanctuary, a trio of tacos of your choosing and I opted for two chicken and the fried fish. Fish tacos is a favorite of mine and I'm rather particular about the taste of them. This was a decent fish taco, breaded nicely to keep the crunch despite the sauce from both the chipotle sauce and cabbage moisture but left the fish still soft and flaky. I would not get this particular one again though, I feel the dressing just didn't match well and would have preferred a white sauce. The chicken tostadas however were excellent. Super messy though so be sure to use your napkin for a bib or risk your clothes. Tender chicken juicy and packed full on this flat shell with fresh lettuce that adds that bit of extra crunch and cotija cheese for sharp tang, smoothed out with a slice of avocado. No notes, this was a perfect taco. Mom and I shared a rice and beans that my brother also got with his entree. Refried black beans (if I'm not mistaken , and per our waiter are not cooked in meat) and seasoned soft rice that complimented each other and was lovely. Carlos, being the amazing waiter that he is, talked us into the dessert special that my brother and I split; two rolled crepes with Nutella and strawberries (can also get dolce de leche instead of Nutella and bananas or blueberries or all three!). We were pleasantly surprised to find these were like a waffle cone in taste and texture, the Nutella was just the right amount and rolled with strawberry pieces so each bite had a bit of everything. We were both happy to have gotten this one. All in all, this was a perfect dinner, and I'm honestly a bit sad we don't have one at home! If you head over make sure to say hello to Carlos!

First time here. Small, tight parking lot. It seems people use the bank next door after bank hours for overflow. As you enter, there is a nice little bar area for drinking and/or dining with adorable swings hanging from the ceiling. On a busy Friday evening, we were able to get a table within 5 minutes. We were escorted to the extra large main dining area which appeared clean and nicely decorated. The server arrived to take our drink order with a bowl of salsa and a basket of tortilla chips. The water was served chilled with orange and cucumber slices. The tableside prepared guacamole seemed to be very popular. My husband ordered the Chicken, Steak and Shrimp combination Fajitas. It seemed like a fairly small portion and was smothered in cheese, but he enjoyed it. I had a Seafood Paella dish. It was presented very different and the seafood was buried into the rice, which had a nice seafood flavor. It had clams (3), mussels (3), shrimp (4), scallops (3), bits of calamari and ground chorizo. It was enjoyable. The only negative was the crowded restaurant was quite loud. But overall, it was a nice dining experience with good service.

Went to Ixchel on Cinco De Mayo. First, we started out with drinks. The watermelon margarita was refreshing and delicious. We then had the chicken tamale for app. It was delicious... we even saved the green sauce for the rest of the meal. It was a little pricy ($16 for one) so I'd maybe try a different app next time. For mains, we got the fajitas and the short rib mole special. I don't say this lightly... they were the BEST fajitas I've ever had. A must try! Lastly, the desserts were amazing. We tried the churros and we ate all of them despite how full we were. This was the best meal we've had in a long time. Counting the days until we can come back!

On our recent visit to Long Island, NY we had the pleasure of having dinner Ixchel Mexican Cuisine. It's a beautiful restaurant, with great service and excellent food and handcrafted drinks. We went there for dinner, and the whole experience from start to finish was incredible. We ordered Palenque seafood, Arrachera Uxmal, Santuario de los Tacos, Kanki shrimp and Mangonada. Everything was simply perfect. Give this restaurant a try if you happen to be in the area. They have plenty of parking as well.

First time at Ixchel Mexican Cuisine and it pains me to give them 4 stars. This is our neighborhood restaurant. When it was the BBQ spot, we were here weekly, the chef (Chef Jeff!) came out and spoke to us, they made a cake for my wife on her birthday, it was a home town spot making great food that we enjoyed almost on a weekly basis. Now Ixchel Mexican Cuisine, a family business by owners Juan and Daphnee Munar. I'm excited to support a new spot and the menu looks solid with lots of higher end Mexican dishes. Here is where the madness happens. My wife & I walk in at 6:30 and ask for a table. We're told a 45 minute wait but we can eat at the bar. I ask for the table, we'll grab a drink and maybe a small bite before dinner. The bar? Is slammed with people who want to have a drink after work. We sit at the bar and my wife orders a White Sangria. I ordered a high end classic Margarita. The ingredients used to make these cocktails are fresh, so cocktails are on point. We ordered the "Pulpo Rojo Maya", Spanish grilled Octopus that can honestly say its been the best I had in a very long time. Very tender with a light charr, we're eating at the bar with all this craziness surrounding us, it was truly an exceptional dish. Now we're about hour 1:15 minutes at the bar. I get up and ask the hostess what is the status of our table? No one knows, the restaurant is mass chaos at this point. The bar? Slammed with people. The wait staff are practically running to tables, there is a lot of activity happening. At the bar was a group of woman behind us drinking. One woman, I woke up today with a headache, she had a loud laugh, like a fake cackle? Very loud and annoying. Our table is ready and we're seated. The dining room is packed to full capacity at this point. The cackler is seated a few tables behind us. Our waiter comes over and we refused the chips because we ate two baskets at the bar! (soooo good by the way) I ordered the "Arrachera Uxmal" grilled skirt steak and my wife order shredded pork. My steak was presented curled on the plate, very classy presentation. The table also comes with complementary Rice and Black Beans. The food was outstanding, the flavor of my steak with the black beans was a hearty dish. While I'm eating, the lady behind us is cackling. The dining room is loud and her laugh brought the evening to an unpleasant end. Check please, I have to end the evening. Folks, Ixchel Mexican Cuisine is serving amazing food and cocktails. Friday night at 6:30 was slammed and the restaurant is not on Open Table. Hopefully the restaurant will have a better reservation system but just winging it left us frustrated with the long wait.

Loved everything about this spot! Made a reservation in advance and despite requiring a card to hold it (understandable these days), I was able to modify the reservation easily. We arrived a few minutes early and waited for under ten minutes for our table to be ready. Didn't have time to visit the bar but will come again for just that because it's adorable. Decor is bright, flowery and festive and they have cute swings hanging from the ceiling at the bar. At the table, it took a noticeably long time to be greeted by our server but once he arrived it was smooth from there. We took the servers recommendation for a ceviche special with mango which was fabulous - big pieces of fish and spicy without being overly so. Table side guacamole was a must and everyone at the table said it was the best guacamole they'd ever had. I wasn't paying attention to it being made so I'm not sure what kind of magic went into the bowl but it was unreal. Tacos were a huge hit - ordered ala carte you can mix and match which we did and each one was better than the previous. Chimichurri was a standout, and so was the tostada. Another server recommendation for a fish dish was a solid choice, and the mole was great. Crafted cocktails were amazing and well made. There's a huge variety on the drink menu as well as full bar for whatever you're into, but I highly suggest one of the specialty margaritas. The Dragon was a phenomenal choice for a spicy marg lover. We didn't have room for dessert because every plate was practically licked clean, but will definitely be back for another visit. Give it a try!

INCREDIBLE! the drinks, food, service, ambience-all perfect. Its beautiful inside and the outdoor patio area lovely. The best Mexican food I've ever had.

If I could give zero stars I would. Owner of the restaurant sits down two men at the bar, men are loud using disgusting language. Watching VULGAR videos. I've never felt so disgusted and embarrassed in my life. Told the bartender and even he was uncomfortable. I will NEVER go back here. Instead of the owner apologizing and asking how to make it better instead calls me and tells me how these men are there often and they don't mean to do this. We've had lots of dinners here and a graduation party, but never again will we come back. Couldn't even finish our meal, we asked for the check and left.

Wow! Long Island has a new, excellent restaurant. We read the complaints on reservations before going. We had one and were seated exactly on time. So maybe that has been solved. The upscale decor is very inviting and open. Now, the food: We had... Guacamole prepared table side with good house-made chips. Perfection. Several varieties of tacos including cauliflower, fish, carne asada, chimichurri, shrimp. They ranged from good to amazing. Tres leche, which was moist and delicious. I didn't mention house specialty cocktails: we tried four different ones. My favorite was Jaguar, with a smoky mezcal. Price seemed very fair: $180 for four people including the sort of overpriced, expensive cocktails.

Superb environment! Definitely plan ahead. Surprisingly there is valet service which is a rarity for Port Jeff. It seemed fancy. We did tip our valet, but I'd probably park somewhere else and walk-in next time. The place was packed with loads of people. Every seat in the restaurant was completely taken! The cocktails were pretty, I thought mine tasted ok, and the food was gorgeous, simple chicken enchilada and tasted good. I felt the presentation of the place. The churros were so authentic and delish! The service was fast, thanks Jake!

Let me stress this part, MAKE A RESERVATION! We arrived on a Friday night and of course had no reservation. We were told 20/30 minute wait for a table which we were fine with, except we waited for over an hour. After being seated we then waited for another 20 minutes before we were even greeted by a server which was quite frustrating because we were starving. The restaurant itself is beautiful! Aside from our extended waits for seating and service, the food itself was great. I ordered the "Cielo" which was a nice smooth yet strong drink. The tacos were delicious, tortillas didn't immediately fall apart and the filet mignon was juicy and tender. The sauce was amazing. Shoutout to Roberto for making the rest of our night, he did an excellent job.

I was very excited to try Ixchel, as I am a huge fan of aesthetic restaurants. The menu was full of various drinks and food options and so I had no reservations about making Ixchel the location of my husbands birthday dinner on my 1 night off this week. However, when we got to the place, the parking situation was so chaotic, we had to drive over and park by a local dentist's office. Upon checking in with our host, we were told our table would be ready soon but they had issues with the table due to another party coming in late. Service was pretty slow for a restaurant like this. I had way higher standards. Our server was Roberto, and he was very nice but potentially swamped with tables, as we had very slow service. We were left to look at dessert menus for 10-15 min and we had to ask to put in our entree orders. The ceviche was subpar - too peppery and not your average ceviche which we were hoping for. The Secreto drink I got was more jalepeno based than it was orange or passionfruit which I was hoping for. Also the main entrees themselves - fajitas and the 3 different tacos were SUBPAR and mediocre AT BEST. I had such a horrible time at this dinner. Aesthetic will be a 8/10. Food/drinks 6/10. Service 5/10. Highkey do not recommend this restaurant for date night. It was nice they do an employee birthday greeting, but even that I had to request personally from the waiter. We put that we were celebrating a special occasion when we made the reservation but it wasn't acknowledged whatsoever until I had to ask Roberto to get a candle for the dessert we had ordered. Overall Ixchel was disappointing, and I will not be recommending this restaurant for a special occasion.

One word, GO! Atmosphere 10/10. Beautifully decorated, clean, music not too loud. Service 10/10. Our waiter was Juan, he was very attentive. Food 10/10. I loved the salsa, served more like warm sauce. Very different and addicting. Started with the tuna tostada. So fresh and delicious! Ordered the flank steak served with rice and beans. Again delicious, I only wish it maybe came with a side of chimichurri. My partner ordered the chicken enchiladas, excellent flavor. And we shared an order of the sweet plantains. Drinks 10/10 what a selection! Strong and flavorful, went with the Juan Diego and the Falcon. Just such a beautiful presentation making things fun and appealing to the eye. Would highly recommend and can't wait to return to try other dishes.

If I could give zero stars I would. We at a reservation at 8:30 that we made many days ago. We called in the afternoon the day of and asked to move it to 7. They happily said that was fine and confirmed our name and 7 o'clock time. When we got there, they were confused why we were there so early. We had to SHOW THEM the phone call of when we changed the reservation. They claimed that our reservation change must have gotten "lost" because there was an 8 year old answering the phone. Yeah you read that right. The manager was incredibly condescending and rude. She said we would be seated "shortly" and when I asked for clarification, she said "maybe 8 or 9 minutes." TWENTY MINUTES LATER... I stoped her and asked if she had an update. She said "oh are you Lauren?" ... no. I'm not. Then she said there were tables getting ready to leave and we would be seated after the couple next to us. We were seated at 7:52. Unfortunately, this was just the beginning. We didn't have a server. We had random managers and other servers coming up to our table. It took hours to get our food and drinks. Someone came up to us to refill water and we asked for more salsa. He said yes. 15 minutes later, another man walked by and we asked for salsa. And then, THIRTY minutes later we finally got salsa. A manager then attempted to make the night better for us by giving us a free round of shots. It's a nice gesture, but the problem was that we had to wait TWENTY MINUTES for these free shots that were supposed to make up for the waiting. Unbelievable. We told him forget it and asked for the check for the 4th time. I want to emphasize, unbelievable. This place was ran like a free for all. We didn't leave the restaurant until 10:15. Wish we could have left earlier but it took 30 minutes to get anything here. Food was fine. Nothing worth calling home about. If I could explain this place in one word, it would be: disappointing. I will not be back.

The food was absolutely out of this world, one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. The drinks were so good, everything was so fresh. The ambience is so beautiful, like you stepped out of the country. The attention to detail in every dish is amazing. The owners are so kind and the staff was so friendly and the service was 10/10. Deff one of my new favorite restaurants

A bit pricey and you don't get a big portion as you'd think by the price. Food was excellent tho. Fresh guacamole was amazing but again, kinda small portion. Very nice ambiance and workers. I would go back.

I've been coming here since it opening and food & cocktails are always a 10! Love, love, love this place. So happy they're open for lunch now.

Fantastic place. Service was excellent Fatima our waitress was spot on with recommendations and service. Fresh made hummus is great, Branzino excellent, drinks very good. Owner couldn't have been nicer, checking in several times. Highly recommended

I don't understand the positive reviews. My wife and I had dinner and were disappointed in the food. Not much taste or filling to the tacos, seafood dish wasn't tender, and the guacamole was bland. The service was slow despite the place being slow mid afternoon and the food is expensive for the overall quality and flavor. Only the location and setting is a positive here.

Very nice restaurant. Beautiful bar and nice looking drinks. Well dressed people everywhere. Let's start with the small guacamole. No flavor. Not good. Needs more spices. Or something. Aguachile appetizer was amazing followed by garlic shrimp that was overcooked and served like warm. Terrible and chewy. Fajitas for dinner served cold and none of it was good. Bummer. And this was mom's 78th birthday surprise fun dinner for her. She loves fancy and not fancy Mexican food.

3o minute wait on a reservation. When I asked for an update on the table, the host had no clue who I was or didn't see the reservation. Unbelievable. Got to the table, chips were stale. Server didn't come by or greet the table after 20 minutes. I had to ask a woman if she was a manager and she flatly said no. She said she would send the owner over. He let me know that reservations wait sometimes for 2 hours and they sit too long...what? No sorry, or we will make things right. Charged us for every single thing that was ordered. Recovery of a table or experience is to apologize, make things right and touch tables often. Do better.

Love love this place!!! Food speaks for itself. Everything is very fresh, cocktails are amazing. Really clean Resturant, very nice staff. And the ambience is just so chic. Definitely will come back and try more delicious food.

My family has eaten here several times and the service, food and drinks have been consistently excellent. I was not a fan of Mexican food but a friend recommended this restaurant and boy was he right. We have brought our 18 month old granddaughter with somewhat older grandkids and she loved it. Excellent quality, different flavors all expertly prepared! Just a spectacular experience with a reasonable price point! Thanks to the chefs, wait staff and, of course, the bartenders.

We came here for Valentine's Day for the very first time for their soft opening. The place looked beautiful. A complete transformation from the other establishment. The staff is so kind and attentive, always there to answer questions. It started off a bit rocky because there was confusion with their menu. We were expecting their regular menu and even ordered off of that menu to the waitress until a few minutes later we were told there is a special Valentines menu and had to wait because they were printing them still. I might add we were one of the first reservations so this may have been an issue. Again, I'll chalk it up to soft opening inconsistencies. The problem we had with the Valentines menu was it only offered very few items and we had our teenagers with us who had their stomachs set on Birria tacos. Everything was fish also with no kids menu, again soft opening. After asking the manager to make an exception because of the children, he went back to the chef and had a talk. He came back to tell us they could offer them steak or chicken quesadillas or tacos. This was sufficient. I did say to him that children will show up tonight and it's important that they put offerings beside fish has options. They were very accommodating. The food was very good, some of the best octopus I've had in awhile. My older daughter loved it so much she ended up getting the pulpo tacos. The desserts were delicious, especially the key lime one, so good. We will definitely come back. My suggestion is for them to work on their complimentary salsa. It had more of a tomato sauce taste than a salsa one. It needs more garlic and lime or something, I couldn't put my finger on it. Give it a try and help a brand new establishment in the local area.

I had to take some time out of my day to return to my Yelp Elite roots and write an extensive glowing review for Ixchel. It been quite awhile since I've been to an establishment that has impressed me enough to jolt me out of my Yelp slumber to the keyboard, and Ixchel did just that. Ixchel is Setauket's new best kept secret. In fact, it is easily the best restaurant in a 20 minute radius, comparable only perhaps to the excellence of neighboring Trattoria (Italian), and maybe St. James Iberico (Spanish) cuisine which are of similar caliber. So technically, it is easily one of the best restaurants proximal to Mount Sinai, Port Jefferson, Setauket, Stony Brook and Smithtown. What makes this place so special? It's the hand of the owners, of course. We had the good fortune of walking in and being greeted by owner Daphnee Munar. In my opinion, she is the heart and soul of this place. You could tell how deeply she cares about executing authentic Mexican cuisine in the middle of Suffolk County, which is no easy feat. She seemed to have a real appreciation for quality ingredients and freshness, and is willing to go the extra mile (literally) to obtain more niche flavors to take her dishes to the next level. In particular, she has reportedly imported over 12 different species of fresh Chiles and an even larger number of dried chiles from Mexico in order to truly capture the essence of Mexican cuisine. In particular I overheard her mention Mayan influences and roots in Guadalajara. Her attention to detail was simply unparalleled, and her homage honorable. Very few restauranteurs have the passion this woman does for producing unique, quality food paired with elegant attentive service. It is so refreshing in what is otherwise a cultural wasteland of an area. She is essentially carrying East Setauket on her back. My husband and I have been to Mexico City a number of times and have been lucky enough to eat in some wonderful restaurants there. This restaurant is a few microchips short of a teleportation device, in the best way. Furthermore, it seemed nearly everything is made in-house, from the syrups they use for their cocktails (which are AMAZING), to their desserts (I will be dreaming of her Tres Leches.) This is the additional time and effort and investment that take a restaurant from good, to excellence. You can taste the immense difference between something that is homemade and crafted with imported ingredients, and a concentrated syrup off the shelf at Whole Foods. We visited Ixchel initially expecting to try out some cocktails and an app or two, and were completely swept away by a fresh, thoughtful and unique menu. What did we get? -Tableside guac, made fresh in front of you with the ability to tailor some of the ingredients to your liking (ie, you could omit onion, or jalapeño if desired. For us, we love it all!) - Tuna tostada - Esquites - Kanki Shrimp Everything was truly delicious. Ixchel has a bright and busy future, and will likely soon require reservations exclusively due to popularity (She was kind enough to take us as walk-ins, we were unprepared!) I forgot to take photos because I was immersed in the trance-inducing deliciousness. I read somewhere her goal was to have her patrons leave thinking about what they want to order for the next time they return, and to dream of coming back. Daphnee, you have done just that! PS. Thanks for letting us try out the magical "worm salt"!!

Brand new restaurant. In its "soft opening." Hi Yelp rating. "Must be friends and family," I thought. Nope. It's a truly wonderful restaurant. Beautiful, soft lighting. Warm, friendly greeting at the door. Peter at the bar making exotic drinks. A Sunday evening. Every table full tells you something. Fresh guacamole made to order at the table. As delicious as guacamole gets. My entree, a version of fajitas. Fresh made tortillas. Perfectly cooked and generous portions of shrimp, chicken and beef. Every bite delicious. If I had a single criticism it would be for specials or discounts or a happy hour, but with atmosphere and quality like this, they might not have to. Anyway , brand new Ixchel has already earned its high Yelp rating and its full restaurant. We can't wait to go back for more.
