The Hotel Miune at Iyashi no Onsenkyo is located between Mt Tsurugi and the main Iya valleys and not far from the Oku-Iya twin vine bridges. The setting among the forested mountains is very attractive, though there are no views. Access is via the narrow, twisting, but very scenic Route 439 and it would probably be difficult to get there without one's own car.||||The hotel and onsen baths are housed in a modern building which features a lot of timber and glass. Our large Japanese-style room with balcony was really a suite - in addition to the room itself there was a spacious entrance area which included an alcove with a sink and hotplate (though no equipment for cooking or eating), a very smart Japanese bathroom and a separate toilet. ||||The men's and women's shared onsen baths have outdoor pools and the indoor options include pools with massage jets and saunas.||||Dinner and breakfast were included in the price (24,000 yen for two people) and were both excellent.

A three night stay at this ryokan and spa was a highlight of our trip. The Iya Valley location is among the most rural in Japan. But the room, service, food and the onsen were impeccable, sophisticated and worthy of an expensive city hotel. Each night’s dinner and breakfast was served with charm and warmth and the food was beautifully prepared. The room had a balcony looking at the mountains, and the large onset is one of the best we’ve seen.

Quiet and tidy onsen settled in a lovely mountain surrounded by some interesting villages. Shockingly reasonable priced. A must great stop over when road tripping along. 5 Stars for sure.

Very nice onsen. Not too hot. Outdoor bath on the female side didnt have a great view but my eczema was improved by the visit.

Very nice onsen. We had it all to ourselves on a weekday evening. You can use it even if not staying at the hotel.
