"Japanese izakaya Katsu Detroit is preparing to serve its last meal. The restaurant is set to close on Sunday, June 30, offering a 20 percent-off sale on food during its final week. Joshua Chiatovich, a minority partner, confirmed the closure, citing significant cash flow issues exacerbated by a costly opening process. Chiatovich partnered with majority owners Roy Chen and Katsu Yama, who were based in Asia, while he managed operations in Michigan. Despite initial success, the restaurant operated at a deficit, and as business leveled off, it lost more funds. Katsu was designed as a cultural experience with a tatami-inspired seating area and no signage or online presence, which eventually worked against it. Majority owner Roy Chen decided to close the business rather than invest further. Chiatovich believes a similar izakaya could be successful in Detroit, attributing the failure to business-specific problems, not the city's market." - Brenna Houck

"Woodbridge’s forthcoming Japanese izakaya Katsu Detroit is gearing up for a fall opening at the corner of Trumbull Avenue and Putnam Street. Katsu is part of a block of new food and beverage developments coming to the neighborhood. The restaurant, which is expected to seat between 40 and 50 people, will feature a long bar spanning an entire wall of the restaurant with a traditional yakitori charcoal grill at the end for preparing skewered meats. The remainder of the space will be filled with a mixture of communal tables, booths, and a tatami-inspired seating area. The interior will be finished in a mixture of warm colors and dark woods with low lighting." - Brenna Houck

Google
The food was fantastic and the menu has tons of great choices. I had the 10 piece chef selection yakitori and it was great! Don't be afraid to try the chicken skin, it's damn good. There was a mix up when ordering another item, but they just opened and I ended up liking what they brought me. So no harm no foul. I can't wait to go back and try more!

Google
This place was great, from the food to the decor to the service. I got some fried tofu thing, some fried taro balls, and beef udon soup. All of it was great, especially the udon. The staff all seemed very friendly and enthusiastic, and the restaurant really gave off the vibe of places you'd find in Japan. As an addendum, I really liked that I could see from my seat at the bar, them cooking stuff over coals. One of the cooks was even nice enough to let me try a stick of this chicken and onion thing, it smelled and tasted fantastic, I didn't get the cook's name but thank you, whoever you are! Also, this place has got those fancy Japanese toilets, they're awesome.

Google
Good place, I like the food. The idea is excellent. Wonderful place to stop and eat. Don’t sit at the bar. The staff is not professional and underwhelming on service. They joke with each other in the corner throughout service (particularly the bartender) and easily forget their customers. Wonderful place to eat with an excellent food selection and drinks, they really need to fix the service issue though.

Google
Well, dang. I wanted to like this place so much. And perhaps it will improve in time, but I was so disappointed. Let me start with the pros. The decor and ambiance is great. The building and entrance are cool, albeit a little hard to find. The toilet- super awesome. A must try while here. The concept of the restaurant is fantastic- an authentic Japanese eatery, complete with the Japanese style tables. There are even heated rugs beneath each booth. I was so impressed upon first sitting down. The waiters are all really nice too, even if they don't know the names of their dishes yet, or what alcohol was in my drink. The prices seem alright too, though if you order a variety of things like I did, the total adds up quickly. I really loved the drink I ordered though- banana milk. I'm not sure what it's made with (as the waiter had no idea and didn't bother to check for me), but I'd come back here just to grab the drink again. Now the cons, which are sadly all food related- the most important part of a restaurant. I had the tuna salad, fish liver, cheese stuffed chicken, some deep fried other chicken, chicken gizzard skewer, chicken heart skewer, pork belly skewer, and the fried mackarel. The tuna salad had to be one of the most boring dishes I've eaten in forever, and I'm pretty sure the tiny bits of tuna it actually had were from a can. The cheese stuffed chicken tasted like one of those frozen breasts you get from Meijer. The gizzard was just straight up disgusting, though to be fair, I've never ordered gizzard anywhere before so maybe it's just not for me. The heart wasn't much better, but was so overly seasoned with pepper you could barely tell what it tasted like otherwise anyway. The pork belly was actually alright, but the skewers (portions) are so tiny. The mackarel was okay but not worth $15, and be prepared to remove bones left and right. The other fried chicken I got wasn't good, and the salad it came with was so vinegary I actually choked a little after my first bite. The restaurant was out of about of a third of the dishes from the menu. Half of what I wanted to order wasn't available, and this was on a Thursday. I've read other reviews here stating the same thing. I also ordered the shiitake skewer but never received it. The waiter took it off the bill but made it sound like he was doing me a favor by removing it. Thank you for not charging me for food I didn't receive? I'd come back here again in 6 months in hopes of some big changes being made, but I find it hard to believe that they would essentially change or improve the entire menu. I ordered enough items to give it a thorough try, but every dish was disappointing if not straight up unpleasant. I still suggest giving this place a try, but maybe stick to a ramen dish or just grab some drinks here instead.

Google
Fun place and amazing food, especially the atmosphere is fantasy!!! Never see this style izakaya in Michigan, Katsu is the first one and the best for sure. Service is professional to explain everything for first time visit like us. Definitely must go place if you like to try something new and cool. I am glad to see Detroit is getting better and better.

Will try again in a few months if it's still open. Needs better management. Carry out. I would have waited for another one, and probably should have checked my order before I left. But I trusted them and look where that got me.

Vincent Romano

Google
I know the place is brand new - but, maybe they should have had a few more soft openings. The place is very cool in feel and acutrements and the staff is well trained and friendly - but, the food wasn't very good. One example, our "main course" - a chef's selection of five skewers from a pool of about 12 choices - was very disappointing. Two of them were so overcooked as to be hard little dry nuggets in our mouths. We had a noodle dish that was decent but that was it. I'll wait for some positive reviews before I go back.

Google
Beautiful and unique place. The food is incredible. I have been 4 times and each time is better than the last. A lot of the struggles of being brand new seem to have been addressed. From the moment you walk down the back entryway and I to the door you are on an authentic journey into Japanese culture and food! Love it!

Yelp
When you walk in, you're welcome by paper lanterns and vibey music. You can choose two types of seating, one I guess is an izakaya style? If you're feeling adventurous, I recommend trying the latter. You take off your shoes and walk to the elevated sitting area. Food is delicious. Their sushi is the bomb. Ramen comes out in bowls larger than the size of most people's heads. I only ate half of mine. Their kimchi potatoes are delicious - a balance between sweet and tangy.

Sesa G.

Yelp
Got pickup from Bash last night and the sushi was fresh and flavorful! We got the spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, spider roll, ahi roll, and the A.A.C. roll. The spider roll and ahi roll were the best of the bunch! It's affordable sushi that's also top quality! I definitely recommend this place as it's one of my favorites in the city.

Yelp
One of the best Japanese restaurants in Detroit with its unique setting. They also have a Japanese toilet btw. Service is top notch, patience, water always get refill. I wish I can afford to pay out more tip. Weekend you probably do need a reservation ahead of time. They said they make the broth on their own, so the ramen is very good with the base broth and veggies. Noddles itself was kinda soggy, didn't ruin the whole bowl but could be better. I prefer traditional chicken curry with white rice and sauce instead of yellow curry rice. If they can change that will be great. Sushi, everyone were ordering sushi. The American style rolls, like dragon roll, black dragon roll, tiger roll, after a couple tries they all taste the same. You know why, because the sauce is too heavy, it covers the natural flavor of the fish or avocado and rice. Regular sushi roll should be better.

Yelp
Made a reservation for the omakase for my birthday and got to sit in the fun section in the front where you're recessed into the floor. When I say this omakase situation is a VALUE...they brought out so much food we couldn't believe it. It just kept on coming. We were physically uncomfortable at the end but what a shame to let it go to waste, right? This was too much raw fish for me with at least two fully sashimi courses, PLUS a nigiri course, PLUS a maki course, in addition to several other delicious apps. We really enjoyed the wings and scallops, as well as the crispy bao with pork belly. Though I have to say my favorites were somehow the desserts -- a vanilla bean cheesecake with to-die-for lemon whipped cream and homemade ice cream with incredible shortbread crumbles. I was stuffed but we found room to finish those desserts. As part of the omakase we also got unlimited drinks included, so I enjoyed multiple tasty NA cocktails and my partner tried several sakes. (Like I said, the omakase is an amazing value!) Presentation on everything was so thoughtful and lovely. Service was great. We'll be returning to Bash sometime to try other parts of the menu (and definitely ordering dessert!).

Yelp
Me Back at a sushi bar? No surprise here. This was a sushi bar in Detroit that was stumbled upon before hitting a concert. Food: stellar, the sushi I had was eye rollingly good, tempura Philly (my fave) and was low-key addicting. They had a good variety of choices a few friends chose that we shared including a popcorn lobster roll with fried lobster crumbs on the sushi. I wasn't disappointed with anything I tried. Service: was pretty good, the waitress was pretty attentive and quick. At some point in the drinks phase, they had asked us to move from the booth table for a bigger party and gave us complimentary 10% off the meal for the inconvenience. Honestly the new table was better imo for the group, ducked off to see the mesmerizing ceiling lamps. Ambiance: sushi bar vibes. Kitchen was displayed behind the counter and seeing the food being prepped near the counter underneath the decorated ceiling paper lamps. Very warm energy. They had open seating near the counter and more personal divided tables on the left. The crowd had both big parties and smaller, so accommodates everybody.

Yelp
Walked in and I was no longer in Detroit. I love the atmosphere and the vibe. Definitely a date night or gathering with some good friends spot. Started off with the Aki spritz a delicious non- alcoholic beverage. Wanted to try something different i also ordered the Takoyaki. I like octopus but this was different it was like a potato ball stuffed with pieces of octopus. Crispy shell with a mash potatoe inside and the octopus sneaks in there as well.. Definitely worth a try.. my friend oorder the wings which were very good and the sauce it's covered in can be a but addictive.. conversation was so well didn't get the pics of our sushi. The superman definitely order it again. Also the salmon on the beach roll looked amazing. Next i come back home to visit will make sure to stop in again. SN they have a section where u have to take shoes off to enter. Who else love experiences..

Sunil A.

Yelp
I can't believe I've waited so long to review this spot, because I don't think it gets enough love as a go to spot around town. This is a fantastic spot with great food, great atmosphere and amazing service. I'm drawing a lot of this from memory, and the way my memory is the fact it stands out should be proof enough of how much I enjoyed. I think we were here either on opening day or maybe the next day, so the first thing to notice is that it was great from the get go. There wasn't a breaking in period, a slow start, a disco ball falling from the sky onto a crowd of coked up partiers.... oh wait that was Club 54 in 1978 (probably). Walking in, the restaurant is beautiful, like walking into a Japanese dream. Lanterns light and hang in multitudes throughout the restaurants, offering a soft glow that is great for dinner but not so great for the picture taking ;). Sitting down, we were greeted very quickly and placed a saki bomb order to start the night. Being an Izakaya, we were able to order several dishes to get a wide variety dishes to try. The curry rice was my favorite, I can mainly say this with great confidence because that's the only one I remember the name. Outside of that I do believe I enjoyed everything except the fried chicken, and not because it was bad, but because there was nothing unique to it. It was like popcorn chicken you could get anywhere. I will not mark them down for this though because everything was an A+ experience. I do wish I had written this review sooner, so the lack of detail is on me, not them. Go here and enjoy.

Yelp
This place has a really great vibe! Inside. It's really modern and energetic. The serving staff was great and super helpful. It was her first time in for her birthday and the waitress gave us recommendations and what to get and everything was delicious. The mushroom skewers were great and the chicken wings are to die for. I didn't get a chance to try any sushi but other people at our table ordered some and it was all delicious! The only reason I gave it four stars was my ramen didn't have a lot of complex flavors, it was just kind of salty. But you could tell that the ingredients were really high quality. The appetizers are a must try and the sushi looked great so I would recommend going that route instead of the ramen.

Lulu T.

Yelp
A large group of friends and I went to Bash Izakaya for my birthday. We had a reservation for one of the traditional tables, built into the ground, and it was a great time! The service was really prompt and atmosphere was bright and open. The appetizers were INCREDIBLE. We shared the mushroom skewers, crispy wings, and takoyaki and they were all very tasty. Those of us that got noodles were a bit underwhelmed and the green tea, while beautifully green, was undrinkably strong. Those that got the sushi, though, said it was really well made. Overall would go back for a special night out!

Beverley C.

Yelp
This place is conveniently located in Woodbridge with street parking options. We made a reservation for a large party (14). We had to pre-order our food and could only be seated in the no shoes part of the restaurant. Our party ordered a little bit of everything - sushi (ofc), ramen, bento, and appetizers. Despite having quite picky eaters in the group, everyone was pleased with their order quality and quantity. I would definitely recommend trying the French kiss roll! Additionally, service was friendly and prompt. Note to parents of tiny humans: No changing tables in either bathroom.

Leslie C.

Yelp
The ambiance is sooooooo good! The moment I walked in, I was in a relaxed mood. I love the decor! I sat in the traditional section, where you take off your shoes and sit down by an elevated table. It was a lovely experience. There is another section of the restaurant where you can sit at the more common type of tables we're used to. The food is fresh and fantastic!! Yummy miso soup. I had the Chef's choice nigiri combo and I enjoyed it all. I also ordered Benny's toro hand rolls and those were epic! Perfect amount of jalapeño mixed in with the toro and avocado. Just the right amount of kick. I thoroughly enjoyed drinking my hot matcha green tea. For dessert, the fried s'mores were fabulous. The presentation of all the food was gorgeous too. Excellent and friendly service. Callie took great care of my table. I found free street parking right outside. I love this restaurant!

Rod D.

Yelp
I always love visiting Bash because the staff is always friendly, the food is always good and the atmosphere is always serene. It is nestled in the heart of WSU's campus but it's not overly crowded in the area especially during dinner. That's not to say that toys place doesn't get packed but it's more like you can find street parking fairly easily. They have a variety of izakaya dishes as well as sushi. I've had both and love both menus, it really just depends on my mood. Sometimes I go for a mixture of both.

Abhilash T.

Yelp
What a truly wonderful experience this place offered; it was busy, every table was taken so definitely make reservations. We were glad we did. I've never been to Japan but I assume this is what it would look like once Gen Z gets their hands on it. We were a party of six and platter B was plenty of food. We had two non sushi compliant folks with us and they got the chicken katsu and bulgogi. I tried them both and they were so good. We had some lychee sake and it complimented the meal perfectly. Platter B was beautiful, and the sushi tasted fresh and I can't say a negative thing about it. The wait staff was friendly and made recommendations and that's always appreciated as well!

Mehruba A.

Yelp
Came to Bash for a birthday dinner a few months back and it was divine. Not only is the interior beautifully decorated inspired by Japanese culture, they also have traditional style seating! We ordered a variety of their cooked sushi items and every single item was a hit. For dessert, we had matcha cake with vanilla ice cream, a mochi with red been, and pound cake with matcha ice cream and strawberry puree. Every single one of these desserts were DELICIOUS. Our waitress was super attentive and the service was excellent.

Dawn O.

Yelp
The sushi was fresh and delicious and the staff is always super friendly. I've gone for lunch with coworkers in the past but this time I went on a weekend so I was able to indulge in a cocktail which was delicious and strong. Just how I like it.

cami

Yelp
Staff was so friendly and attentive, ambiance was amazing!! But the food was overpriced and mediocre tasting... I got the Miso Glazed Salmon (was looking forward to it all day after a long day of work, and trying Bash with some old friends) and it was WAYYYYY too salty! I could barely even eat it at the time! I even ordered seaweed salad earlier as an appetizer and that did not neutralize the salt?! I later took the rest of the meal home and decided to mix in some more rice...... it was STILL too salty. Sad to say I wouldn't be jumping to go back....

Stacia G.

Yelp
I would recommend reservations as they fill up fast. It's cozy and low lit. The sushi bar is the brightest part . I sat on the deck where you take your shoes off and don't necessarily have to cross your legs- there is a drop below each table allowing you to sit normally. We started with the pork gyoza, then had the chefs nigiri (my favorite!!), and a few rolls. I had Chardonnay (good but not as exciting as my friends matcha cocktail). I definitely liked the nigiri more than the rolls- the rolls were not bad and maybe I'm a traditionalist. Parking is on the street so have some fun with that- lol!

Yana G.

Yelp
Food was great! We also had wings and they were by far my favorite! The service was great with the ambiance to match! Chill vibes!

Jimylah J.

Yelp
Food was amazing, so many options. The vibe is beautiful and chill. The service is always great.

Munzer R.

Yelp
Bash is a really solid sushi spot, and I'd say probably one of the best in Detroit for sushi. The interior is really cool with the way they do Asian style and removing your shoes when you enter. It's typically a longer wait, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation before going. The rolls are really good, but a little bit more pricey. I love the takoyaki here and the sushi platter is a good option if you've got a few friends to split with.

Jimin H.

Yelp
The tuna tartare was really delicious and loved the wonton chips. The flavor of the spicy tuna was very good! I loved the ruby roll and the torched taste was very good. The king salmon roll was the least favorite out of the three but it was still good, I just couldnt taste the spicy salmon that well in the inside. All in all the ambience was nice, it took quite awhile for the rolls to come out though.

Maia T.

Yelp
it's so cute in here! i felt cool sitting inside (make sure you wear socks) the sushi is delicious! its pricey tho

Rachel E.

Yelp
Amazing sushi!!!!! Love it here. Probably one of our favorite places for date night. We've tried a lot of rolls from here and they are all so delicious. This past visit we got the sushi boat: Platter A and for $65.00 it included: Caterpillar Roll, Southwest Roll, Lion Roll, California Roll, and Dragon Roll plus 2 miso soups. It was so much food and so delicious. Definitely worth trying if you've never been!

Atem A.

Yelp
Ive been to this spot several times and this time I thought I should leave a review. First off the scenery of this place is amazing. Once you walk in your greeted with a authentic Japanese aesthetic and traditional seating. Also, I love a sushi place with an open kitchen view. Onto the food, in every roll it's obvious the ingredients are all fresh. The king salmon roll and the ruby roll were definitely my favorite and the tokoyaki was amazing! The service is always friendly and willing to help out with menu items which is great for allot of sushi first timers out there

C M.

Yelp
4-2-2024 Took our friend Vince out to dinner here. The drinks were outstanding: It's Thyme, Blood Orange Mule. We tried a few things but The Popcorn lobster and avocado boat were my favorites. Excellent service from Kayla and super fun vibe. We'll be back

Carolina C.

Yelp
Bash is my favorite sushi restaurant in Detroit! Walking in felt like I was transported with amazing decor and the opportunity to sit on the floor so bring some easy shoes to slip on and off if that's your jam. The wait staff is super attentive and they made some phenomenal recommendations. I dove right into the sushi but the apps did look amazing. I got the Bash roll and the Ruby, both of which tasted amazing. I love that the rolls are filled with cream cheese and really make the fish shine. And shine they did because they were insanely tender and melted in my mouth. Bash also has some super cool events and they have a tuna festival every year or so which is one of the few (if not only) spots in the city that does that. Also just to note the only available parking is off the street so if you have a large party, try to carpool in but going around some blocks there will definitely be an open spot.

Isabella B.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot for sushi in the city. Dining in is always a lovely experience but take out is a great option too.

Regina S.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. Some of the BEST food I've ever had. I ordered a hand roll and a bowl of udon noodles. We also ordered a bunch of appetizers for the table to share. Absolutely delicious. Service was phenomenal as well. We had a large group - about 7 people but they were super accommodating and were able to sit us right away. Given, it was like 7 pm on a Tuesday. Our waiter was super attentive. He recommended the best dishes and was patient with our large group. Will definitely visit again when I'm in Detroit

Alison B.

Yelp
Best sushi in town! The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Whenever I've gone here the wait has also been pretty short which is an added bonus. I love the seating in the restaurant. It has a nice atmosphere with lovely decorations. The bathrooms are also really nice which is an added bonus.

Katerina L.

Yelp
10 Things I love about Bash: 1. Fresh good looking sushi 2. Flavored saki flights!!! Lychee flavor is amazing...though strawberry and peach are pretty awesome too! 3. Ramen bowl is big enough to split for 2 or more. 4. A female sushi maker! Rocks! 5. Wall art 6. The green plant wall is awesome for pictures 7. Seats by the window where you sit on the floor with your feet in the opening under the table. 8. Friendly staff 9. Free parking along the building. 10. And last but not least - HEATED toilet seat!!!!

Jerry J.

Yelp
Disclaimer, leaving 5 stars and not ruining this page because the food was absolutely bonkers. Amazing. Loved it. I honestly haven't been this gluttonous in a while. The fried chicken wings. Insane, still juicy and very crispy and flavorful. For sushi, I can tell there was love and effort put into each roll. Even the basic California roll was enough to satisfy me, however the speciality rolls were some of the best I could have had. For the price you get A LOT. I seldom have leftovers from sushi but I was tapped out. However this is where my experience got ruined, I understand a Tuesday night in Detroit isn't really "sexy" or as lively as other cities, but my service was atrocious. When I sat down myself and my SO we both noticed our waitress clearly didn't care to be there. We asked for a recommendation for drink, while it was still good we noticed it wasn't a very warm approach and decided not to bother asking about what food items should be ordered. We were only ever refilled for water... one waitress noticed we were done with our appetizers and she saw we clearly didn't have space so she did her a solid and bussed our table. Didn't ask how the food was once for appetizers or dinner itself. We had to ask for drink refills...once again when we did that we had some leftover plates and silverware and that was ignored. Maybe she had a bad night, but fake it until you make it would have sufficed for me. Overall I'll probably be back to be gluttonous, the floor seating is a really cool idea and I loved it, even with these weak knees of mine. I highly recommend this place for a date night or special occasion.

Caitlyn C.

Yelp
Enjoyed my dinner here! The Peachy Lychee Sangria was delicious, loved the fresh fruit on top. We ordered 3 rolls: Ruby, Salmon on the Beach, and King Salmon. I liked the ruby roll, although I felt the pieces themselves were a little small. The salmon on the beach had lots of salmon, which was great, but it was lacking sauce making it somewhat bland and dry. I loved the traditional Japanese seating area, I recommend sitting there if you have the chance! Very cute interior and good service.

Yahsha M.

Yelp
This place was so good. We came here to celebrate, and we were not disappointed. The sushi was delicious, and the vibe of the restaurant is great. You can have a more traditional experience and take your shoes off in one area, or you can sit in a regular booth or table. Our waitress was nice, the only downside was she was a bit slow with the service. I felt like we always had to get her attention if we wanted something. Other than that, we still had a great experience, I'll definitely be back.

Nadiya H.

Yelp
The sushi is always fresh and such a nice size. They're not skimping out and filling it with sauces. It's really really tasty. Service is a bit slow but worth it. Ambiance is casual and cute it's not busy. Def recommend this place.

Danielle N.

Yelp
Sunday Morning- 10/10 Salmon on a beach roll- 9/10 Black dragon- 9/10 Popcorn lobster- 8.5/10 Service is wonderful and so is the vibe! Aria was so attentive and had great recommendations. Best sushi place I've found in my opinion. However if you don't have a reservation, expect a 1.5-2 hr wait for bar seating or a table (at least on the weekend)

Matt J.

Yelp
Excellent sushi, great service and quaint atmosphere. Flaming sushi roll was on fire, literally.

Mikayla O.

Yelp
This was our first experience here, and it came recommended to me by a few friends. We showed up on a Sunday night with out a reservation and were met with a 30 minute wait. (We got lucky, I would suggest doing reservations in advance.) The gentleman that took out names down was super kind, and informative. He also double checked that he had my number correct for letting me know when our table was ready. Once coming back we were immediately seated, greeted with waters and given recommendations by our LOVELY server Aria. She was a absolute sweetheart and made our first dining experience feel easy. The sushi selection is absolutely outstanding and makes it hard to choose, which is why we ended up going with a platter. Platter C came with such a incredible selection of sushi and 4 miso soups. I'm proud to say we literally finished everything given to us. It was so fresh, perfectly balanced and just lovely bites. We also ordered a bottle of Dragon God Sake, please if you like sake ORDER THIS. It was incredibly smooth and floral. It's the best bottle I've had to date. I highly recommend it. If you haven't been here, it's a must try!

Autumnn G.

Yelp
Very cute, love the set up. You have to remove shoes for the dining area but they also have a section where you can sit and keep your shoes on. Menu isn't huge but had a nice amount of options. Ordered the Takoyaki octopus balls for a starter and the king salmon sushi. Both were really good but I didn't really care for the fish flakes on top of the takoyaki. Others ordered the Godzilla rolls, shrimp and salmon tempura rolls, spicy California roll and the udon noodles with crispy chicken. Tasted it all, the udon and crispy chicken was a standout. Birthday girl had the chicken thigh dish with egg, she hates chicken thighs but we convinced her to step out and try something different on her birthday, she said the dish was fabulous lol!!

Best sushi Metro Detroit , very cute spot , we usually order take out, but decided to eat in. sat at the sushi bar, it was wonderful! (We had a waitress) My husband had Benny's Toro hand rolls and the teriyaki udon and I had the Sunny Night roll, couch potatoes roll & the Vegan Mushroom Miso Ramen. Incredible vegan options. That is much appreciated! Everything was delicious (Also very unexpected lovely plus. The heated bidet toilet seat. !! I'm sold. I want one. )

Yelp
I was really impressed with this sushi location in Downtown Detroit. They have traditional floor and regular seating. Tasteful Asian decor makes you feel like you stepped foot into an authentic Japanese restaurant. First off the delicious sweet sake flights set the right mood. We got to taste peach, strawberry and lychee. I also got a the Ruby roll that was made with spicy tuna and cucumber. The roll was topped with seared tuna, salmon, red snapper, white tuna, shrimp, wasabi mayo, sweet mayo, spicy mayo and eel sauce. Sprinkled with black and red tobiko, and micro greens. Very fresh and artistically presented.

Yelp
The experience was great, loved the traditional seating and server was nice. The appetizers were amazing. Sushi quality wasn't fully there for me but I understand they aren't known for their fishes here., the rolls slightly fell apart a bit. Would come again for apps but couldn't get my sushi fix.

Yelp
Food was really tasty. We had the Caterpillar Roll, Southwest Roll, Lion Roll, California Roll, and Dragon Roll plus 2 miso soups. Platter A. Service was busy. Friendly but not super attentive. Luckily we were not worried about making the game on time. Not a big deal. The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. Smaller but tables still have a decent privacy to them. Worth checking out. Parking is mainly on Putman st. Not that many available spots but a decent looking neighborhood.

Yelp
What a yummy gem in Detroit. Sake flight (peach, strawberry, and lychee) was excellent! Very cozy place with a lot of unique sushi options. Definitely will come back!

Yelp
Went here for date night and had an incredible experience. Hospitality was 5 star. Our server Violet was amazing. We ordered Tuna Tartare, Takoyaki, Pork Gyoza, miso soup, spicy tuna roll and the Bash Signature Roll. Highly recommend the Tuna Tartare! Unfortunately my rating dropped one star due to the Takoyaki.... The center of the fried octopus was cold. They offered us a new order or an alternative item and that's when we got the pork gyoza which were phenomenal! Finished off dinner with an order of the coffee Mochi which was great!

Yelp
The experience was great, loved the traditional seating and server was nice. The appetizers were amazing but the sushi was very underwhelming, expensive but the quality just wasn't there for me, the rolls slightly fell apart a bit. Would come again for apps but couldn't get my sushi fix.

Yelp
Great food, good service, good ambiance. The special rolls are more expensive than other sushi spots but the platters are the best bang for your buck.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants I have been to in Metro Detroit. Food is amazing, great service and over all just a cool place.

Yelp
My first time at this gem had a early lunch here before the show on Sunday. Very interesting sushi roll selection, fish was super fresh, my girlfriends also order ramen and it was delicious huge portions. Their flight of sake was plentiful and tasty, lychee sangria was a bit sour to my liking but beautiful presented. Service was prompt, decor is nice and very clean and bonus heated toilet seat :)) Will be back!
