Izla Hotel | Best places to stay in the Mayan Riviera

"Sunset over the ocean? It’s hard to find on the Mayan Riviera. All the rooms on the mainland face East. But not on Isla Mujeres. The Izla sits over one of the island’s semi-private white-sand beaches, poised for sunset: sinking orange over the turquoise sea and distant Cancún from the balcony-jacuzzi-baths, the al fresco restaurant or the adults-only rooftop infinity pool. Rooms sit in a blocky horseshoe of concrete that looks very Miami Beach. Interiors are clean and sparse – in wood laminate, white palettes and wall-high glass. And as it’s all about the views consider splashing out the 25% extra for an upgrade from the tiny standard deluxes to a spacious Superior Ocean front – with that Jacuzzi on the balcony. We stayed at Izla in July 2025 and I would rate this hotel 3/5. The room constantly stayed damp including the floor, the bedding and our clothes were wet in our suitcase. Our passport covers curled over on themselves from the moisture in the room. There was never anyone at the towel station and no way to alert anyone you needed a towel. There are no fridges in the rooms to keep food or drinks cold. There isn’t a water machine so you’re constantly thirsty. The drinks … cannot believe I’m saying this about a margarita in Mexico, but it was awful. We gave them a couple chances on the drinks and they were consistently bad with an odd flavor. The beach is pretty but not swimable. The breakfast buffet was pretty good- but the dinner buffet was awful. Room service I would say was decent. Overall the employees were kind and helpful and the location is quiet and beautiful- the only good things about this hotel.

What an awesome vacation at this hotel last weekend. Such a beautiful hotel, great staff and great location and amenities. I give a shout out to the staff who is so friendly and inviting. The indoor kitchen staff, the front desk who held my insulin in there fridge for me while I was staying there. The food is great and the poolside bar outside is the best time ever. Great people who stayed there and we made so many friends. The evening poolside bar staff especially my boys Viagillio and Carlos, who took care of me and my wife every night deserves a raise. Really good bartender and manager and now personal friends I hope to visit again. All the staff are great and are real personable and the hotel is lucky to have them. !!! Great time!

Nice hotel, excellent architecture, extremely nice personnel, excellent food including for pescatarians. Pool is world class, probably more than 25m long! Good beach lined with palm trees, nice sunsets. Rooms (we had ocean view king) are large, nicely appointed and well sound proofed even from the music outside. All is very clean. |The skylounge with its pool and bar, and DJ on saturday night is absolute top of the top (literally...).|We wanted to stay 3 nights and ended up 12 nights. A perfect relaxing place. ||

Virgilio was AMAZING! He made amazing, delicious drinks for us and was more than attentive consistently during our ENTIRE stay. Reyes took the time to learn each of our names and not only learn them but remember them. He recommended great dishes and brought them out very quickly and delivered them at our poolside. Jesus was super nice and also was constantly checking up on us without us even having to get out of the pool. Angel made us laugh so much at Numa and even let us stay past closing time. Gonzalo at the Izla Cafe exchanged great conversation with us during breakfast and make sure we had our coffees refilled with everything we liked in them during each duration of breakfast. We loved the energy of Virgilio, Jesus, Reyes, Angel and Gonzalo and they all contributed to us having a great time!

Izla is a wonderful hotel! It's not in the bustling part of the island, so it's quieter and less busy. A ten minute drive (by cab) into town/ back to the ferry. Beautiful ocean front view - every hotel room had an ocean view bc the hotel is "U"- shaped, meaning every room faces the pool AND the beach. Service at the pool bar is slow, but it's an option. The pool is lovely, and the beach is calm, but not always quiet. The hotel (and others along the beach) play music all day, so it's never totally quiet. I would've liked less music bc just taking in the view of the ocean and the waves would've been enough for me. That said, the music didn't ruin my experience. I also would've liked a little more entertainment by the pool - like a pool volleyball game, or a dance party in the evening. Met some very friendly people at the hotel who were just glad to be on vacation. We got breakfast included in our stay, and that was well worth it. It's a breakfast buffet, with an egg/omelet station.

We had a wonderful one-night stay at Izla. We were in town briefly for a wedding and the food, staff, and accommodations were excellent. The most outstanding aspect of the trip was Elirs, the front desk associate who was very thorough in explaining the details of our stay and addressing any questions we had. He was extremely prompt, respectful, and kind. I believe Izla has fared so well due to people such as Elirs working there.

This was our second visit to Izla Hotel. After traveling to Isla for nearly 20 years, we have learned to appreciate Sac Bajo and the calmness the south end of the island brings. We were traveling to celebrate my daughter’s birthday, which I noted in my reservation. Surprisingly, the staff had decorated her room with balloons, a cake towel, and birthday decor, which was a complete surprise and so thoughtful!! The pool and beach access at Izla is excellent. The bar by the pool keeps you refreshed and has a happy hour midday. The Roof top pool is for adults only and has an evening happy hour. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. Housekeeping happens between 9-5 and you can easily request service with a red/green switch by your door. The staff are friendly and eager to please. Easy access to taxi’s or the bus as well as golf cart rental. We will be back!!

We had a bad experience before we even got to the resort. We booked through RCI to use our travel points and had a question about the room type listed there as an ‘apartment grand deluxe’. Upon contacting the hotel, they told me it was the presidential suite, so I went ahead and booked it. Upon completing the reservation, they saw the rate (that was discounted with my points) and said the room I booked was not the presidential suite, it was only a suite with a queen bed. They even got pretty rude with me so unfortunately we cancelled our reservation. We don’t want our trip getting off to a bad start before it’s even begun and the resort staff has no integrity.

Yelp
Shame on the management and reservations team at this hotel! We were confirmed by the hotel via email way ahead of our trip that my room would be connected to my friend's room (they had the presidential suite). However upon arrival that connecting room wouldn't be available for my first night but was supposed to be available for me the rest if our trip. So on the 2nd day I packed all my stuff and went to the registration desk to get the key to the connecting room and all of a sudden that room was not available! Spoke with the manager who didn't have any good rationale except "it's just not available there's another person reservation in that room now". So basically they sold that room for a higher price to another individual! Unacceptable! So I had to stay in my original room for the rest of my trip and was not close by to my friends! This hotels staff is also rude, extremely SLOW, unhelpful, and sub-par to many other places I've stayed. My room did not have a refrigerator, no robe or slippers. The coffee maker was crap! And the website is extremely deceiving (pictures are not accurate representation). Some of the pools were cloudy. There are a few pro's to this place and I will list them below: All the rooms face the ocean in some way, this hotel is on quieter side of island which is nice if your not looking to be woken up all night, but that does mean your about a 15 min drive from all the fun stuff (beaches, excursions, shopping, dining). There's a few walkable places to eat near the hotel. The food at the hotel was ok, nothing impressive.

Yelp
We had a lovely spacious room... great view... food was delish... beach wasn't the prettiest (seaweed)... BUT it felt private, water was still amazing, not crowded like north beach... would stay here again... and all inclusive is way better!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel property, staff very accommodating. The pool is amazing, rooms are clean and comfortable. The Spa and staff were great! Restaurants were good but we preferred to eat off property, the view is awesome from the rooftop pool/bar. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Had a wonderful 4 night stay at Izla Hotel! The room was just as pictured, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was spacious, and the shower was great! There are 2 restaurants on site, but we only ordered breakfast 1 morning at the rooftop pool. The food and service were good. The rooftop pool is 21+ at all times, while the main pool is open to all. Both pools have bars. The drinks were kind of expensive (I saw someone pay $21 for a Titos and soda) , but there is a 2 for 1 happy hour in the afternoon/evening. I only had 2 issues - some of the front desk staff wasn't very helpful. The first night, the woman at the front helped us with a dinner recommendation, and even called to see what time they close. A few days later we had other questions and the person at the desk was absolutely no help. It felt like they weren't even willing to hear our questions out before saying no. The 2nd issue was that we ended up being charged more. They said it's because of the conversion rate, but $80 is a pretty big difference and that didn't really make sense to me.

Yelp
The staff was amazing and very welcoming!! The beach was absolutely STUNNING! The hotel is situated on a more quiet part of the island and it was so peaceful. We stayed in the king ocean view with a balcony tub and the view was to die for!! Very clean, lots of space and the soaps were Bulgari!

Yelp
Nice service. Great breakfast. A little out of the way but such a pretty spot and certainly not hard to get anywhere. Comfy beds.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE! The room was nice. That's about all the nice things I have to say. We were swindled into a "deal" for a room with a private mini pool and beach access. The mini pool was always dirty, still, freezing cold water, while the beach was the same access as anyone to their nasty excuse for a beach. It's a man made beach. When you go in the water it squishes like mud or slime. It's ironic because if you go to the North side of the island, Playa Norte is one of the top ten beaches in the world. There's absolutely no reason why anyone would or should stay there. Any of the hotels right on Playa Norte are similarly priced and waaaayyy better. The drinks from the bar were insanely priced, I spent over 800 pesos on 2 drinks. Our shower had mold growing everywhere and I had to ask 3 times before they kinda cleaned it. This hotel is not worth it at all considering all the options on North Beach where the nice beach, restaurants and night life are actually at.

Yelp
Upon arrival staff informed us there would be no hot water in the hotel during our entire week stay. We were offered to have free breakfast throughout our stay or 20% discount on all meals or to simply leave. One of the nights we had ordered room service and the menu clearly states the price of the item with the protein included, no additional charge on menu nor did the person on the phone let us know. They charged us double per plate. When we showed staff the price of the menu and what they were charging us they said that's the up charge even though the menu confuses you stating it includes the protein. They offered 20% discount on our next meal due to the inconvenience. When we reached out to order food again we reminded staff we had a 20% approved my management and staff argued we would only be honored 15%. There was a lot of back and forth which two managers had assured us would not happen. We decided to cancel the order and eat dinner elsewhere and that's when staff called us back to state we did in fact have 20% off. We still opted to eat elsewhere. The breakfast buffet does not change by day they serve the same things during our week stay. They do have a chef station where you can request your eggs how you would like them. However the chef seemed annoyed when asked to use salt or wanted fresh eggs rather than their pre mixed eggs for omelets. Mind you I wanted sunny side up eggs that was my huge request. The hotel also had several power outages during our stay. Which actually affected one of our phone charger(no longer worked). Not sure why these outages were happening nor were we informed. They charge $1500 pesos per day for golf cart and accept only cash even though we were told credit cards were accepted prior. Quite honestly, whenever there was interactions with staff the seemed to be quite annoyed with their guests or acted like they were doing you a favor. This hotel is aesthetically pleasing, great beach front location but due to its lack of customer service I probably won't be staying here again or really recommending the hotel, it's pretty far from "el centro" and the ferry port. We had known this while booking the location but never imagined the taxi cost would be so high and only accept cash. There are two staff members I would like to recognize for providing exceptional customer service Eduardo from the buffet restaurant area and unfortunately a female staff from the same area that I cannot remember her name. She was kind, attentive and always received us with a warm smile. If I remember I'll ensure to edit and give her credit.

Yelp
Eduardo, Alejandro and Roberto are amazing at this hotel ! Must see at the rooftop sky lounge or in the cafe for lunch or dinner ! Great service and accommodating. We did try the nicer restaurant that starts with an N on site but wasn't super impressed but I will say the portions were very large , the service staff was amazing , the ribeye was just not as flavorful or impressive. I would definitely go back and try it again though on my next visit . I love this hotel it is my favorite to stay at when I visit the island !

Yelp
Checked into Izla Hotel for two nights. It's a beautiful hotel! As soon as you enter they greet you with a non-alcoholic drink (usually a fruit), check in then they help you up to your room. The rooms are very BIG! Our room had two queen beds, and the restroom was huge! It has a walk in shower, and the restroom had its own little room. Security box, ac, tv and room service. They have two pools. One on the rooftop for adults only and the downstairs pool is for families. Both very nice! The beach is BEAUTIFUL! During this season we had it all to ourselves. We enjoyed the cabanas. They have great drinks! Our server Russell was awesome. He made me drinks off the menu. Passion fruit, tamarindo, and strawberries. All super fresh with natural sugars! The REAL deal. I recommend asking for him. Last, the food is a hit or mess. Some plates are delish and others are okay.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We request to do something but the woman in front desk (Griselda) was completely uncooperative. After 4 days of annoyance we decide to buy some stuff for our snacks. Sadly our experience in this hotel hasn't been good and the food and service is poorly executed. The staff here at the Izla hotel has zero hospitality and poor training and somewhat rude. I'm not expecting anything, just to put the truth out there(our experience). The poorly manmade beach could be at least clean. They don't even say good morning! You have to ask several times for something, you're practically ignored; they bother you in your room even with the DO NOT DISTURB button. We wait for almost an hour for every bill. They allow strange people smuggling protected sea animals right on the beach. We experienced some brutality of "fishermen" killing the caracoles and starfishes right in front of us, to sell them, and when we call the staff they didn't do anything ! All they say was "that's how people here make their living" Other guests didn't seem bother by this activity and that was shocking! We still have some days left here and I'm trying to interact the least possible with the staff, since they're not helpful or respectful. For sure we won't be back. I know is not the Four Seasons, but it's not a cheap hotel either. Actually is expensive, they charge you in advance 15% tip on everything even when the sold and service is bad. It has a lot of potential but it's staff needs a lot training in hospitality. And at least basic training in customer service! And yes, is, I think it's normal to expect a better service because you're paying to rest, and enjoy. Not be disturbed. We were ejected from the pool. (That actually is constantly murky, visible debris.) For drinking our own beer and eating Cheetos. After enduring people smoking next to us, when is suppose to be a not smoking hotel. El capitán de meseros totally rude, said that this is a consumer place, therefore to be there you have to consume their products. Or go do it in your room. After I got sick from their food/ or drinks the house keeping didn't clean up the toilet. Not even the shower, and request to be clean twice! Is there anything good about this place? Yes, the bed is comfortable and the room is nice with AC. The moisture is horrible. The room floors are constant damp. You have to clean after you, or request cleaning more than 3 times! To me, not worth it to pay that much money. I'm so done with this place and it's staff. But still have some days here, so I gotta spend it in my room avoiding rudeness form the employees or out of the premises. The language barrier makes it harder, particularly for my husband (American). I'm Mexican and my first language is Spanish. So I understood when they were being mean to him. To use the beach beds you need to pay extra 50dlls! Maybe we just had really bad luck. I'm VERY dissatisfied and disappointed of the treatment we got here.

Yelp
Izla Hotel erroneously double charged me for a stay in June 2022. Hotel staff investigated and confirmed by email that they owed me the $1800, but management never processed the refund and soon after began to ignore my calls & emails. A year later, they still have an extra $1800 from my stay. With so many other options available for your stay, why risk this type of management behavior on your vacation?
google avatar

Yelp
MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR BILL BEFORE PAYING!! They tried to charge us $325 USD for 5 SHOTS of alcohol that we did not order. The manager AND staff tried to argue with us regarding this matter and we ended up paying half of that price because the back-and-forth was going on for approximately an hour. Please check your bill. Actually, I would stay clear of this place--period. Our family is a big spender and do not mind spending our money. However, being dishonest and trying to take advance of tourists completely turned us off from this place. Food is just ok.

Yelp
Just went there last week for our honeymoon. A week before arriving I sent them an email asking if they can decorate our room because we were celebrating our honeymoon, they just ignored my question and brushed it off by just giving me my confirmation number that I already gave them in the email prior. We got the Superior Room with the sea view.... for the price that we paid for we didn't get what it was worth. The room was HOT and HUMID! After 3 days straight of requesting for them to lower the AC they just brushed us off. After the 4th day of requesting AGAIN they finally came to our room to lower the AC....It literally made NO difference. The room was still hot and humid. The room comes with no microwave.. and the little mini fridge doesn't even cool anything. On the morning of us leaving our hotel room to finally go home. Room service was knocking on our door at 8 IN THE MORNING for us to turn in the key. After telling them no because check out is at 11, they changed their tone and said that they were knocking to clean our room already. When they said that I opened the door and told them no. They need to wait till 11 for them to knock again so we can be ready to leave. Once checking out they charged me for a coffee that I ordered 2 days ago before checking out I LITERRALY BOUGHT THE ALL INCLUSIVE... they argued with me saying that I bought the coffee before the all inclusive started and showed me the receipt of the coffee but not the date of the receipt. After arguing with front desk for a good while my husband just wanted to leave and paid the coffee that they were whining about. It was 80 pesos and the coffee tasted like ass. I will never come back to this hotel after the rude treatment and I feel like everything that we paid for wasn't even worth it. Next time I will rather spend it at a nicer hotel in Cancun.

Yelp
Wonderful boutique hotel on the fabulous island. This hotel was great. The staff were amazing, and went above, and beyond to be accommodating. The entire hotel was spic & span! The pools were amazing, and the little small beach was nice as well. They have two pools, and two bars. One upstairs for adults only, which has a beautiful view of the water! This hotel is wonderful for a nice getaway with a special someone. Very grateful & blessed for Izla Hotel- Thank you!

Yelp
This is the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in for such a reasonable price. I paid $588 including taxes for a Sunday - Thursday stay in mid October. The service was exceptional, the staff was very friendly, warm and welcoming and everything was extremely clean and sanitary. Temperature checks upon arrival and the entire place was always being wiped down. The front desk staff were super helpful, calling a cab for me when I needed it, helping me find an atm. And the food and drinks at all of the hotel bars and dining spots are so good. Some of the best hotel food I've had-- didn't taste like hotel food and the drinks were strong. The only issue I had was that the AC stoped working the last night I was there but the staff quickly offered to move me to a new room. Lastly a thing to consider, this hotel is for maximum relaxation. Very quiet, secluded but a bit far from the party on north beach. If you are looking for the party, stay on north beach or be prepared for a 10-15 minute taxi or gold cart ride into the center of town.

Yelp
Place is amazing. Great room, pools, food and staff. I will stay here again whenever I return to Isla.

Yelp
Amazing experience for our family! From the moment we arrived greeting us with cocktails to numerous conversations at the front desk up until departure, they were so helpful and kind! It was truly a luxury resort, complete with massages for our family at poolside with guacamole and cocktails, haircut, manicure's and pedicure's, and spectacular food! The brunch was fantastic! And the prices for everything, including dinner, are reasonable. Daniela at the front desk was so nice. Ilisa was so sweet and gave great care in the spa/ beauty salon. Oedaloa was great and my daughter fell in Love with Vincente cause he was so dang charming. Other great staff that deserve recognition are Roberto, Monica, Sharanye, Karen, Andrea, Osvaldo, Ixchel, Juvenceo Salgado, and Juliana in the gift shop.

Yelp
This hotel is currently having great deals and is amazingly gracious to travelers while things are opening again. If in the Cancun area it is a must to check out this luxurious yet affordable haven away from the mega tourist areas. The best part is that they have THE BEST bar staff in town. My wife and I will always appreciate the excellent knowledge and experience of J. Canto and Alejandro.

Yelp
We stayed for 2 nights while on a trip to Cancun. The hotel was further outside of town than we had imagined looking at the map but was a nice, quiet escape. It's about a $100MEX to get into town. The food was alright, no complaints just nothing special. The pools were great and the beach space was so so. We opted for going to Playa Norte for our beach day. We probably would not stay again due to the location.

Magali M.

Yelp
Cutting corners is never a good idea. What's the point of offering two nice looking swimming pools if the water is freezing cold? Well, apparently they haven't even bothered to install a thermostat. This is not a cheap hotel. It has no laundry service, and they condition your use of the beach lounge chairs to a minimum consumption if 50 dollars at the bar. While the rooms are nice and the food acceptable, the staff is hardworking and kind, but it's the small things that make the difference don't you think?

Candice B.

Yelp
Couldn't say enough good things about this hotel! I have to say that the service is probably the best I have experienced, always checking in and always so polite and kind. From the first moment they went above and beyond! The rooms are clean, the pool and bar are lively and wonderful, and the whole property is beautiful. It has a classy and relaxed vibe that anybody would enjoy. 11/10!

Shaun P.

Yelp
When we checked in we didn't get the chance to upgrade to get a "better room". No negotiation on the golf cart $80 for 24 hrs. Little hospitality from front desk. The rest of the staff was friendly some much more than others. Had to wait up to 50 minutes to get food that was ordered by the beach. We ate at Numa restaurant was expensive. We had the prime rib. VERY POOR QUALITY. Didn't taste like prime rib was very tough when chewing lots of fat and cooked unevenly. Dinning at the restaurants had many mistakes (MANY). Too May to list. Staff was apologetic but didn't erase the fact our meal was ruined. And in some cases didn't eat. The food quality is what scored the lowest. We have visited Cancun at least 11-12 times and the food here is why it's scored so poor. It looks great but when you eat, it's very salty or has a strange taste to it. Our room was serviced even though we had the red light saying not to. The pool water looked cloudy most of the time. I heard it's because it's dirty. Lots of kids in the water and no one seen going to the restroom. That's why we stayed in the beach most of the time. Lots of screaming kids. Should have stayed at a "adult only Hotel". The beach sand, while standing in the water feels weird like your stepping in wet clay. Gross feeling. Seaweed on the shore made it smell bad and extra flies. Other beaches clean it up daily (Playa del Carmen). Don't plan on coming back rather spend all this money on somewhere we can score at least a 4 star! And the WiFi is the worse!! Kept kicking us off. Extremely slow or didn't work half the time.

Phillip R.

Yelp
The Izla is a new hotel away from the busy parts of Isla Mujeres. The rooms and grounds are very nice. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom very nice, hot water was consistent, air conditioning adjustable from cold to comfortably cool. All of the staff are very friendly, we ate the included breakfast every day, good selection, lots of fresh fruit, omelets cooked to order. Monica and Abdias were fantastic! The pools were heated unlike almost every other hotel we have stayed at in Mexico. It was nice to enjoy the pools without the shock. The view from the rooftop bar is great. Expect a 50 to 100 peso cab ride to most restaurants and activity's, a few beach clubs are walking distance. The beach is good to lay in the sun but the bottom in the water is soft and muddy so we did not go in the ocean here. Would definitely recommend as a clean, friendly, quiet place to stay on Isla.More

Yelp
Terrible experience at this hotel. Sharing in hopes that I can prevent other travelers from spending their hard earned money on a very sub par experience. The guy who assisted us at check in (late night person) was pretty awful. Not friendly, not helpful, not personable - customer service was NOT his forte. Okay - let's talk about the rooms. The biggest issue is that there seems to be some ventilation issue at this hotel. There was so much moisture on the floor and the mirrors during our ONE NIGHT stay that it was ridiculous. We had to use towels to dry the floor before bed and woke up to what was almost like standing water on the floors. The mirrors were literally fogged up for the entire 24 hour period we were there. As a result of this moisture/ventilation issue - the rooms SMELL musty. The room is decent enough in appearance but be warned they are BARE and felt very much like a college dorm room. It's more modern but feels cheaply designed. The chair cushions are stained from prior guests and not very appealing. The initial room we were given was NOT clean AND had wires and light fixtures hanging out of the ceiling (I will include pictures). We were almost wondering if there was some construction being done to the room. Needless to say we demanded another room. Our breakfast experience was slightly better but even our waiter at breakfast told us the beach at this hotel was the "worst" on the island. We left the next night for another hotel on north beach and we thank our lucky stars we did. It was called Ischel. Much better. North beach was amazing and relaxing and all the great things we had heard about. Based on our experience, Izla is a less expensive option that appeals/caters to mostly a younger crowd.. we are mid 30s btw. - the pool looked nice, but we wanted to spend as little time at this hotel as possible so we didn't even go in. We ordered room service and were even disappointed with that - not sure how you can mess us a club sandwich but they figured out a way. I really hope this hotel can turn it around and step up the service and figure out the cleaning & ventilation issues - we didn't allow it to ruin our vacation because we had such great experiences at other places but I could def see how it could ruin someone's experience if they were here for any amount of time.

Yelp
The view is nice , and the food is great , But the language barrier is Annoying! They need to hire Americans to work there , I had a hard time trying to make them understand me , and I was just asking simple questions. Also they don't have a ATM machine which is unacceptable!! Make sure you get clearance from all of your credit card companies, prior to your visit ! Get Pesos ( Lots at least $500 per person) Bring cash as well .Otherwise you"ll get upset with trying to Communicate with them ! The food is good, yet pricey. It's very loud in the morning as well, Between the maids and the light construction ( they tried to deny that there was any construction going on ) also there's no microwave in the room, ( They dont want you getting outside food, which is f'n STUPID , We can go and get what we want !! Don't force me to eat your food !! And you can at least provide us a microwave ! It's 2019, what hotel doesn't have a microwave ?? and the water that they provide made me dehydrated! Bring your own water. Also, you have to catch a cab to get outside food, there's nothing in the area, Not even a fruit stand. The rooms are nice, everything is modernized. Touch lighting, Air conditioning , and the Fan switch. The view and patio is Amazing ! The staff members are sweet ! Especially the girls. I wouldn't recommend this place, I was too turned off by the language barrier, noise, no microwave, ext. We keep that country going, and they try to control you , with there limitations !! ....NO THANK YOU !!

Yelp
What an amazing experience! The hotel is beautiful, food was amazing, and we loved that we were a little away from the Playa Norte chaos. Getting around the island was a breeze and so much is close by! A handful of restaurants are a short walk away and it was super easy to grab a cab to Playa Norte area if you wanted. Honestly, I'm not sure what the reviewer who disliked this experience was smoking. Communication with staff was a breeze as someone who knows only English. The rooms were gorgeous and definitely don't have you missing microwave? There's two restaurants on site and room service so even if you can't leave the hotel, you're set. No, the water they provide does not make you dehydrated, wtf? Most places asked if you wanted to pay in pesos or the American dollar so even if you were short-sighted and didn't think to exchange money on the mainland you could make do. This location and hotel is easily the best experience on the island and I'm disappointed that one person is making it so they don't have the full 5 stars they deserve. Izla Hotel is amazing and you'll love staying here.

Yelp
Izla hotel is amazing! We went during the beginning of the stormy season and the staff was so nice and accommodating. They made us feel welcome and made sure we were comfortable at all times. The rooms are nice and clean with great views of the ocean. The rooftop pool is an added bonus, but the pool area is lovely! There were hammocks near the pool area and cabanas near the beach. The bartender was the greatest! We made so many friends here. The food at the cafe is amazing! Every morning breakfast was included and it did not disappoint. We had a beautiful fruit plate, mini breads, a mixture of different flavored butters, and a main dish. Don't forget some coffee to go with this all. Anytime we needed a taxi the front desk would call for us to get one. Everything was amazing and I cannot complain about anything except for the fact that it rained the entire time we were there, but it was still such a beautiful place! Rain and all. This place is excellent for the money.

Yelp
We just got back from our 8-day stay at Izla hotel. This was our first trip to Isla Las Mujeres and we weren't sure what to expect. From the moment we walked into the lobby, everything was wonderful. From the front desk staff (Mikhael and Normi) to the bartenders (Gaspar) to the waiters (Alexander, Miguel, William, and so many others) everyone was professional and courteous. The hotel itself is beautifully constructed. There is attention to detail in the hotel design. The rooms are beautiful, with great balconies, a mini-fridge, and a large bathroom. The beds were great- high quality mattress and bedding. One of the highlights was the cuisine. Chef Raul is talented and has a wonderful variety of choices on the menu. I can't say enough great things about this place. It truly was a luxury stay. The only drawback is that the beach is not for swimming. It's too shallow and there is sea grass pretty much everywhere. It wasn't a big deal for us- we simply took a cab to north beach for the day.

Yelp
This hotel is amazing the have great food and pool. They are kind of far from everything so you have to take a taxi. They also don't have a good beach but you can just take a taxi. But it is awesome and most of there staff knows English. They also have a lot of activity's like one night they had a fire dancer.
