I come here often & usually have a nice experience. Tonight, however, I can’t say the same. I was seated, and for 20 minutes, despite saying my drink order, the server didn’t bring water, bread or my drink. At one point she does finally bring a thing of bread, but again… 20 minutes have gone by & I don’t even have a glass of water. I got up & walked out. The restaurant wasn’t that busy. I watched as an older gentleman was seated behind me & as I’m getting up, I’m noticing a server put the tray down to serve their food….? That party came 10 minutes after me. Weird.

I had my birthday party here. Fred, the owner of this nice place, along with his team made sure my party of 25 was well taken care of. Food was great. I ordered the Pull Pork! Delicious! Dj was playing amazing Spanish music so bring your Salsa Dancing shoes!

If this was just based on service.... I would give this place 5 stars. Every server checked on us. Every server got an order from us. Every server took an empty dish from our table. The hostess could have been alil more friendly but everyone else.. all smiles..eager to meet our needs. Nothing was too big of a request. The drinks were amazing. I ordered their new Mango Remy mojito...Delicious! The passionfruit margarita was one of the best I ever had. The steak with onions and rice and gandules... Wow! My boyfriend got the chicken in lemon butter... Out of this world! We definitely said we need to come back during the night night. They had hookah available as well. The booth were cozy and private. You must try this place!

This was my very first time here. I had a great time with my lovely date. The vibe inside was electric. But the thing that stood out to me most was the service. My 2 servers constantly checked on us to make sure we were satisfied and if we needed anything else to make our stay more enjoyable. You gotta come see for yourself. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because it took a while for our food to come out. But once it arrived, it was worth it. I had the red snapper. The presentation was so real that it almost made the fish seem still alive on my plate. I enjoyed the decor, the many TV screens, even one at your personal booth and the DJ was on point and took special latin requests after a nice tip I felt obligated to go him because he was so gracious. I recommend checking this place out. No riff raff either. This is a place you can take your lady to.

Food is soooooo good! Love the arroz con gandules and arroz con camarones in the cute oyas. Steak is tender. Ceviche is so fresh and yummy! Ropa vieja sooo good!!! Reasonable prices. Always something happening and they do a lot for and in the community. Happy hour 3-6pm, Taco Tuesdays 2 for $5, Thursdays karaoke, Free salsa lessons on Tuesdays at 8pm, comedy shows and live music on various weekends and they go ALL OUT for holidays w decor...big celebration coming up for Cinco de Mayo. An oasis in the community! Big space & 10 mins from Center City. Took friends there for my birthday and they ALLLLL loved it and some even ordered food to take home. They host events, fundraisers, birthdays. Many community leaders frequent the restaurant and host their events here. Plenty of free parking. Welcoming & fun atmosphere w professional & courteous staff. Stylish decor where can have privacy in a booth, a large table of friends, or sit around the bar which is always packed. They also have hookah.Highly recommend! And kid-friendly w plenty of FREE parking!

Been here many times over the years. like many places in philly, once they start getting really popular, the food and service start to suffer. theyre still a good 3.5 overall but i definitely dont go here as often as i used to.

Did not like the food at all. I ordered a Tripleta and it had no flavor. The empanadas were so small for too much money. I don’t recommend. Coqui does way better tripletas.

The environment has changed. Years ago this was the restaurant for Spanish dancing & music with a mix of some light hip hop. Now it's primarily hip hop & r&b. Which is cool but not what I expect from Izlas. Sitting at the bar & service is reasonable for drinks but for food not so much! The food tastes good when it arrives but takes a while. If you follow the restaurant on SM you'll catch the theme or event of the day. There's no weekly karaoke which can be fun. The crowd used to be packed, fun, and lively. My last few times have been light on attendance and slow on food service.

My husband and I went here for our 21 yr. Anniversary. It was vibrant and the air was filled with Latin music and couples dancing. They had a nice size bar and also tables for dining in. We arrived after 8pm. We were told the kitchen was only preparing limited items like appetizers. We ordered buffalo wings and tostones and drinks. The tostones were fresh tasting and not oily. It isn't my typical item to order or eat but it was good. The wings were fresh, crisp, juicy on the inside and super flavorful. I wanted to order more but that would have been greedy of me. My drink was a pineapple coconut frozen drink. I could have took my shoes off and dove into my glass it was so yummy. I had 2 because any more I would have become the entertainment of the night. All that to say, this is a cute spot, nice atmosphere and the service was nice and attentive. Pricing was fair. I'd come back and I would definitely make sure I was ready to dance.

This place is unbelievable! I had the best Cuban food since I vacationed in Miami in 2022. The bartenders and DJ Loso are the best I've seen in a long time. They have a QR code you can scan at the bar to request your favorite songs and even perform karaoke too! This place is in my short list of the best Latin restaurants in Philadelphia. It's a must try for anyone in Pennsylvania.

I came here for a silent party event but decided to come a little early to try out the food. I got the shrimp tacos and ONG they were sooooo good. There was a green sauce of some sort that came with them on the side and that just topped it off for me. I even dipped my tortilla chips in it it was so good. I would definitely come back here just for the tacos.

**Mixed Feelings About Izlas** This was my second time at Izlas, and my feelings are mixed. My first visit was fantastic--the food was great, and the atmosphere was a vibe. They had a live band playing up front, the dimmed lighting gave it a relaxed lounge vibe, and the bar was standing room only. The place had a real energy to it. Unfortunately, my second visit left me a bit disappointed. While the atmosphere was still great, the menu had changed significantly. It wasn't the same one I saw online (as of 11/09/24) or in previous Yelp reviews. The new options felt limited and didn't feel like elevated Puerto Rican cuisine. There were dishes like tacos with a Mexican slaw and garlic mashed potatoes, which didn't really feel Caribbean or island-inspired to me. I enjoy tacos, but this wasn't what I had in mind when I came here looking for authentic, non-cafeteria-style Puerto Rican food. I hope they bring back some of the original menu items, as Izlas has the potential to deliver a unique dining experience that stays true to Puerto Rican flavors.

The service was great, friendly staff, good presentation was very interesting tastes great, especially with the deserts. I just learned that it was a club also so I'll definitely have to come back to experience.

First off, it's not far from home. I'm here at least two to three times a month. The food,(I've had quite a few items on the menu) is always delicious. The portions are more than enough. The drinks are strong and flavorful. The ambience varies because they have a plethora of themes, depending on the day, month or holiday! RUN DON'T WALK THERE r

So what I love about this spot is that's it's right across the street from my school. Love the atmosphere which is always inviting. Everyone that goes in here is an educator in the Latin community which is awesome. The food is good, is Puertorican food and it's located in North so there are a million spots around lol. The service was great bartender took care of everyone in a timely fashion.

First off The Music is terrible, I remember this place was a lot better like a year ago i guess if went down in service, ordered and waited almost 20 minutes before someone came up and actually placed my order did not even receive what I ordered and was lied to when asked if what I ordered was still available long story short don't come here unless u want crappy service and a bartender with a terrible attitude

I hate to contradict my fellow evaluators. But my cuz I had a terrible experience. First, our attendant Lina C states that it's happy hour and I heard everything is half price (my cuz heard appetizers) Then she goes through a list of items on the menu that they don't have, about 25% of the menu. That sparked my comedy "I'm not so happy this hour". We placed our order and Lina came back to tell us "SORRY, WE HAVE (1) DIET COKE" Cuz took one for the team and drank sprite. NO BREAD which we asked for instead they gave us a wicker container of tortilla chips no condiments just a metal bowl of a spicy hot substance. The main dish comes in an appetizer bowl. Six shrimps surrounding the mashed potato, the lemon sauce made the dish. It was delicious but the portion and price was ridiculous. Oh, they advised they had no dessert. Now about the Loud music. The DJ & Equipment to put it in kid terms SUCKS! You can't hear the waitress or each other and the bust subwoofer and base cause headaches. Get used to frowning WHAT? So a Diet Coke, a sprite and two appetizer shrimp dishes with the self imposed tip ran me $60..00 That's what it cost me to find that I never eat there again. You shouldn't either.

I was there this evening for dinner the service was awful food was horrible they brought our food out the chicken we ordered was raw still with blood on it we talked to the owner and he didn't care not to mention the drink are overpriced for water down Liqour I guess he doesn't care if people get sick in his establishment never going there again not with that type of service especially coming from the owner who doesn't care if his costumers get sick from raw food

This is a fun spot!! Friendly N FAMILY ORIENTED. The staff is fantastic here and the food is delicious.

I hosted my birthday celebration here on a Saturday night. I made reservations weeks in advance so they were aware a large party was coming. Our service was awful!! The server stopped even looking at our table after beginning to yell at us when we asked for ordered items that didn't arrive. Our table was never set with silver for everyone or anything. It took over 20 minutes to get the bill after requesting. Each person at the table was lucky if they received two drinks in the 3.5 hours we were at our table. While it's always clean, there was a fight at the bar and the music was then turned so loud no one could talk to each other at the table. Also, I'm in a wheelchair and made that known ahead of time with the reservation and was placed up on the bar level so I couldn't get up and dance or anything. This place used to have the best service. The manager was aware and did nothing as well. Will not be going back and don't recommend anymore.

Let me say first that I was expecting a typical restaurant , where I could converse with friends... not so much. This is a restaurant, bar and lounge. It's LOUD friends! The food is really on point though. My husband and I shared the Havana mussels, which were in a slightly spicy and very savory thin red sauce, and the ropa vieja, which was soooo tender and yummy. The portions are very substancial. The service was great. Really, who needs to talk!

I ordered tres leches cake, flan, and yucca fries from Izlas Latin Cuisine. It was probably the worst food I've ordered from any restaurant in terms of quality and taste. The worst part is that a few hours after eating about half of this food, I experienced violent and intense vomiting. This happened multiple times for the next 24 hrs, so it became pretty clear to me that I got some kind of food poisoning from their food. I would never recommend this place.

I don't know how Christina (spelling) does it. I came for happy hour with some friends. The drinks were great and she kept them coming. The queso frito, salmon fritters and empanadas were sooooo good. This place is full of good energy. Definitely recommend!

Great little spot. The food is not expensive and is delicious. The owner is welcoming and the staff is courteous and helpful. I have gone a few times during the week and they always have good music.

We received a menu in our railing a few weeks ago and since then I've debated on trying them. Tonight was the night and I have to say I was impressed. The business is tucked away on American Street off Lehigh, and except for the sign in the kiosk, you would never know it was there just driving by. Its very beautiful inside its just a shame indoor dining is currently not a thing. Tonight we got the yuca fries, chicken empanadas, carne asada tacos, and pork tacos. The tacos were huge and generous portions. The meat in both was very tender and flavorful The yuca fries and empanadas were nice and crispy each with their own sauce. Everything was delicious but the empanadas stood out and next time I think we will cut right to the chase and just have an empanada party. I look forward to coming back once indoor dining comes back because all of the entrees and specialties sound delicious, but I feel takeout won't do it justice. I feel this place is on par with Nemi in Port Richmond, with the prices and portions being a bit better than Nemi. I know some people who aren't used to our area may get intimidated with this section of the city but please check this place out. They also offer delivery so no excuses!

It been like 2 weeks and I still can't forget about this horrible experience. First, I got a Groupon for this place and I completely forgot about it until literally the last day to use, and it been too long so I didn't really pay attention that i had the Groupon I bought must buy 4 entrees, it was my fault. So i had my stepdad who speaks Spanish to place order, he called the number they provided on Groupon, nobody pick up, then i had to look up on Google and see a different phone number. Then, he called and they couldn't understand the one i picked, they said they don't have it when it clearly on their menu "Pechuga De Pollo en Salsa Criolla - Grilled chicken breast in creole sauce", they told me to come to order in person, i had no choice, drove all the way in South Philly to there and realized they were a night club, not a normal restaurant. I had my dad to call them again to order because I really didn't want to go in such a crowded place, i told him to pick whatever they have so i will just pop in and pop out. So I waited 25-30 mins, i walked in all the way to the back through dancing crowd, showed them my Groupon and then the ugly thing happened, the first guy show me that I only ordered 2 meals and 2 desserts, I didn't understand at first, then I replied yea just me and my dad, i looked at the screen they even add one thing saying gratuity $10 more, i asked what it was he was like shsss then deleted it, then the second guy jumped in said he was the owner, explained my Groupon thing, then he said he can't give me the food for free, i said i paid I didn't give the Groupon for free, for the second he said that, i wanted to walk away already, my body was like turn to the way out a bit. He didn't let me go, he said it again and i again said i didn't get it for free, i paid the Groupon, and again he repeatedly said can't give me the food for free. I was just speakless because it was so humiliated, i said ok ok, then left. Yes, it was my fault to buy the one must 4 meals as they said, but it was horrible, he made me feel i was a stinky person in the world try to sneak in to have their food. That was wasted my time, my energy, and humiliation to myself.

Food, service and music was excellent. I can't wait to go back. Nice and spacious, plenty of seats around the bar... they also have hooka.

This place was a vibe for real! Came on a Saturday night before 9p as a walk-in and it wasn't to crowded at all. They allow ppl under 21 until 11 and then it change from a restaurant to more of a bar/club vibe. I enjoyed watching the people dance and enjoy their night in there. Now onto there food. I ordered the salmon, rice and sweet & spicy sauce which turned out to be everything I expected, GOOD! only thing was I wanted the sauce over the salmon and rice they put a cute design around the dish. Boy oh boy, I ordered what I thought was a pitcher of margaritas. I was wrong lol it was Hugh and not for 2 people in order to finish it you need at least 6 ppl. However it was good and strong though. I will be visiting back there again.

This made me so sad.... Look at the serving size of ceviche they give you for $18..... it's literally a handful, and it's pretty dry, almost like tuna fish or something.

Found this place on my Facebook! So happy my boyfriend and I decided to stop in. Customer service is amazing!!!! Wilfredo (Freddy) the owner came to our table multiple times to check in on us and even gave us a little history on the restaurant , he was so nice! And drinks and food was omg!!!! Delicious! I am Latina and I'm so happy to have found my new food place home away from home, definitely will be back!!

Salmon la china and the charrusco were simply to die for! Empanadas - beef, chicken and cheese were perfectly prepared in its dough. The fillings yummy. The tres leches and chocolate cake soooo good. The lime mojitos are the best! Miguel our server was very friendly, took our orders from 20 people with ease. He knew the menu and made suggestions. He was just great. Chef Jorge Reyes, wow!!! Thanks for wonderfully tasting dishes. Kudos to the owners/management. The restaurant is a great looking place and your staff are amazing!

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I wanted to give it no stars but you can't. It wasn't the food although the food was over priced. It wasn't the waitress even though she seem very inexperienced and didn't know the menu at all. It was the way in which we were treated when we had a problem. The management just appeared to not care at all about our concerns. The biggest concern we had was the menu we were handed and the online menu said one price and we were charged a different price at the end of our meal. And no one cared on top of that they were nasty and defensive.

They accidentally gave me the wrong food through Grubhub but were so nice. They called me before I got the food and said I could keep the wrong food. Steak and eggs as well as French toast. Both were amazing! Also great Tres Leche desert. They also personally drove my correct order, fajitas and more. Sooo good!

Came here with my family who were visiting and we all enjoyed our meals. Delicious Hispanic cuisine's. Definitely going to come again.

So it's late night. I'm starving and so I hit yelp to find anything open. Surprisingly I found this place and it has really good reviews. I wasn't expecting much but I got a lot of yumminess!!!! I ordered rice and beans with avocado and chicken wings and I'm so happy I did everything was delicious. Thank you so much! Keep up the deliciousness!

Best place ever! The manager attended us himself and recommended the best fits of drinks for the type of party at our table. He made sure we had everything we needed and wanted. I came here to support a friend, and upon entering the place, knowing it was a dance party event, I could appreciate the music volume, but if you came for dinner, you'd have been miserable. Shouting level music akin to a club. Hookah seemed an odd choice for a Latin restaurant, and was a bit off-putting, but do with that as you prefer. The layout looked nice. The TV's were an odd choice, as this isn't a sports bar, yet there is an entire row of TV's airing games. The food looked and smelled good, and this is where things turn for the worse. Service was nonexistent. If I wasn't here for a friend I would have left. Fifteen minutes for a bartender to begrudgingly serve me a glass of wine. When my friend asked the bartender (who he apparently was acquainted with) to acknowledge me the bartender shrugged me off and went back to flirting with the girls he was heavy-handed pouring drinks for. It wasn't until another woman noticed this and flagged down a bartender for me that this other bartender finally took my order. If it wasn't for this patron's help, I doubt the bartenders would have given me a second glance. That sort of behavior (flirting with women and ignoring customers) is an immediate red flag and gives nothing but creep vibes for me. I'd never take my wife here and will not be returning.

Came here for National Paella Day. The food (paella) was delicious and service was delightful and friendly. We also had the sangria and I'm still dreaming of the chocolate tres leches cake.

The area of this place made me a little skeptical at first but the food and ambiance was amazing ! I love this place !

Keeping it short but sweet! If you are looking for great tasting Latin cuisine with a lot Latin flavors this is your place! After months of procrastinating I finally went. And Izla's did not disappoint. I ordered empanadas, 1 margarita and steak fajitas to go,. The empanada was perfection. They make a good margarita too. Hey Pino. He took good care of me. A lively atmosphere and may I say, immaculate ladies restroom. All good.

Haven't been to the restaurant, but eating some awesome takeout as I write this. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, generous portions & most importantly - bangin' Latin cuisine. Seriously really good. Look forward to visiting the restaurant when society reopens someday ‍.

I haven't been here for years and decided to check it out. It was busy and the food and drinks were good. I didn't give them 5 stars because the music was sooooo loud when I say loud I couldn't even talk to my husband that was sitting across from me in the booth. He had to sit right next to me and talk in my ear to even hear anything. Loud that when I ordered my food I had to point at what I wanted on the menu on my phone in which I winded up getting the wrong meal. I just couldn't enjoy myself as my ears felt like they were going to explode. I would have stood the whole night as the music was good but I couldn't take it anymore. Lol. I've been to plenty clubs/bars and of course music is loud but never like this.

Saturday early dinner dining looking for an affordable and satisfying meal - where do we go? We frequent this place because the food is insatiable. He had the churrasco (grilled steak) with chimichurri sauce and mashed potatoes. It was perfectly grilled and seasoned. I had yuca cake (cassava) with garlic shrimp on a bed of spinach -- my favorite because it's proportion is perfect and the taste is scrumptious too! The ambiance here in the Olde Kensington area of Philadelphia which is ever-changing now that American Street is being brightened up with trees in the middle of the street and the abandoned areas are being cleaned up with new residential buildings will hopefully bring more traffic to the restaurant. I highly recommend this place for dinner, the prices are so reasonable, the service is friendly and in the evenings they have dancing to different Latin and jazz genres. The owners are young and always there on the premises to chat with making it a genuine experience! This place was featured in a piece on 6abc Action News.
