Unfortunately, this was a poor dining experiences we’ve encountered in Goa. We were really looking forward to our visit here.
Despite booking three days in advance, our table wasn't ready. After waiting at the bar, things went downhill. We asked our server Sam for a simple explanation of a 'Mahura' on the drinks menu. Instead of being a helpful steward, he seemed completely disinterested, told my wife he’d be back, and then simply abandoned our table to serve others.
When we asked the manager, Vinayak, for assistance, since no one came to our table for the next 10 min, we actually overheard the server complaining to him that we were "asking too many questions."!! Since when is a customer "difficult" for wanting to quickly understand what they are ordering? If a server can’t—or won’t—explain the menu, they are in the wrong profession.
The restaurant wasn't even crowded, which makes the lackadaisical attitude even more concerning. We chose to walk out rather than indulge such an establishment.
Goa has an incredible food scene, and you can find much better food and hospitality just down the road. Don't encourage a "too busy to care" attitude!
