This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I arrived with my wife and 2 kids 6 minutes past 8am, which is when they open. We stood in the entrance for about 2 minutes before someone who was walking through the back area saw us standing around. We were seated quickly as we were the only ones there.
We quickly noticed a smell that was not pleasant. Musty maybe? Not sure, but my wife had some type of allergic reaction, watery itchy eyes and a sneeze attack as soon as we sat down. We ordered some food, the breakfast platter for the kids to share, huevos rancheros for me and the Mexican breakfast for my wife.
I was pretty surprised about the 35 min wait, especially since there were no other customers, but once our food arrived we could see the attention to detail. The food was really yummy, plentiful and hot. Hot in temperature and in spice. My wife and I tried to share some of our meals with the kids but they were too spicy for them. I did wish there was an indication of spice level on the menu, but I didn't see that.
So why only 4 stars you ask? Though the food was delicious and beautifully plated, I was a bit disappointed with the attention to detail for the customers. Our server only came to the table once to see if we needed anything and it was toward the end of our meal. As I was asking for something, she began walking away missing half of my sentence, which meant more work for her since she had to grab that item, come back and go back again for the other item I was planning on asking for on her first trip back to the kitchen. At this point there were 3 other tables with customers but still the wait staff was very sparse.
Once we finished, my kids and wife left the restaurant because my kids couldn't wait any longer and I sat at the table for 8 minutes by myself, with my credit card in hand, waiting to pay. 4 tables full of customers and zero staff on the floor is never ideal.
Would I come back here? Maybe delivery since the food was really great, but not with the kids again.
