Absolutely love this restaurant and their staff. The food is delicious and filling (especially the pierogi!) The owner went above and beyond for my family and hosted my baby shower of 45 people. It was the perfect atmosphere and we had the whole place to ourselves. The service level was top-notch wedding level (I fully expected for them to bring the food out and leave a self-serve drink station, but they served individual sliced cake and refilled drinks the entire time, frequently checking on guests to see if they needed anything). They worked with my budget and put together an amazing spread of food. The mocha semifreddo cake was out of this world! The staff even helped me decorate leading up to the shower. We are continually impressed with every aspect of this restaurant from the food and drinks to the service. It ended up being a godsend for a happy family gathering and a lifetime of memories.

Google
J. Betski’s delivered a wonderful dining experience. The service was excellent, friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The drinks were well-crafted and complemented the meal perfectly. The highlight was the shrimp burger, which was the best I have ever had, fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. A fantastic spot worth returning to.

I wanted to try this place for the longest time and the pictures of food looked so good but after eating here I have to say I was pretty disappointed. The brisket plate was dry as anything and the duck pastrami was overly salty. The pierogis were definitely the best part. Since you order everything on your phone via toast tab there’s not much to be said about the service. The ambiance is awful the place is incredibly loud. I wouldn’t say the experience was bad but I also wouldn’t choose to come back.

Google
Nice and friendly staff. I love that they have Sprechers soda, it’s so yummy! The atmosphere is like a sports bar. I was imagining more of an old fashioned German restaurant so it was not the interior I expected. We sat on the covered patio with heat lamps which was nice and cozy but the chairs make the most awful screeching sound when being moved on the concrete it was very jarring. The food is okay. Just fine. The soft pretzel was small (like half a pretzel) and nothing special. I expected a delicious Bavarian soft pretzel because it’s a German restaurant but I was disappointed. Also I was bummed they didn’t serve it with beer cheese. The schnitzel and spaetzle was just okay. Nothing special. The sherry mushroom sauce had very few mushrooms and was overly acidic in my opinion. The sausage platter had one great sausage (smoked kelabasa) but the other two were not very good. Overall this restaurant really disappointed me with their food being less than stellar. I would not return.

Tyler with Offline - Everything was absolutely PHENOMENAL. The flavors were perfectly balanced and everything was perfectly cooked. Tried three types of pierogis and they were legit out of this world. I’m obsessed with this place and will absolutely be back!

My wife and I went to the Seaboard location for years but this past weekend we finally got to come and eat at their new location. We were celebrating our 15th Anniversary! It's still fantastic and we love it! I dug the more formal vibe but I dig the new laid back vibe as well! The new app for ordering is very easy to use and food and drinks come out very fast! It gives you the option to keep the tab open as you continue to order more things and then you can pay your total bill at the end. Super cool! Andy has always been our server and you couldn't ask for a nicer person to take care of you. He's always fantastic! Everything is delicious but the perogies are out of this world! Hopefully my wife and I don't wait so long between visits next time. I really missed it!

Google
Had an overall good experience here recently. Have to say the food was absolutely fantastic - will be back again for that reason alone. Really, really good stuff. The reason for the three star rating is that the service we experienced here was below average on the whole, and to a lesser extent, the atmosphere and payment structure is somewhat casual and impersonal. They use toast tab, which is fine in and of itself, and we did have a server who initially attended to us regarding some substitutions. However, they completely forgot about us at the end when it came to applying a gift card we had, and we were waiting something like a half hour before we eventually flagged down another server. This is a restaurant that has a lot of potential in my opinion, especially if they were to provide a more traditional service experience in a fine dining atmosphere. The existing environment is just a bit more casual and DIY than I would expect considering the food quality.

Google
Cute little place with a friendly staff and really delicious food. Craft Cocktails were outstanding. Our bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. Prices were not that bad either. Only drawback was we were out all day and looking for a really late lunch early dinner. They open at 4 but the kitchen won't serve until 5. A misleading tactic to get us in early. Not intentional but I think they should advertise dinner does not start until 5. They are good at noticing the small details. This just needs a revisit. We'll be back.

Yelp
Food: I do not say it lightly when I tell you this is my favorite restaurant, hands down. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the price is great considering the olympic sports they go through to ensure quality meat, produce, preparation, presentation and overall experience. J. Betski's is also well versed in dietary exclusions and/or special recommendations i.e kosher, gluten free, dairy free, vegan (I am gluten intolerant). Service: Although they use a barcode system for customers to order their food now, I do not mind. It's a relief not having to touch a sticky, disgusting menu that will ultimately be cycled out and tossed in a landfill eventually anyways. I mention this because I see a lot of the reviews hating on the barcodes. The server is essentially a waiter/waitress and they act as such! They fill your glass of water as soon as you sit down, and provide a decanter full of water for endless refills. They are there if you have any questions. Bonus, the owner John almost always comes out to check on my husband and me, and open to any suggestions. For example early on, a lot of customers were giving poor ratings because of the "sterile, clean, bright" environment, so they started to dim the lights and add candles to give the people the ambiance they wanted. Values: I love their strong family values and enjoy seeing his wife and children when they visit. It makes it feel less stuffy. The restaurant is named after the owner's Grandmother, a fun fact I learned. Staff: It says a-lot about a business when the staff has been there for a decade or more, too. They care deeply about their staff and go to great lengths to provide them with long term employment and it shows. I saw this during COVID when all small business' were truly hurting.

Yelp
My son and I had the chance to try this restaurant recently. The layout is open, featuring a bar near the dining area, which can get a bit loud. We tried the pierogies with sweet potato filling, which were prepared well and had good flavor. My son had the pork with cranberry broccoli, and the pork was very tasty, with a nice portion. I had the crispy ginger Asian chicken with a potato stick and coleslaw. The chicken was moist and tender, with a good crunch, and the coleslaw was tangy with a touch of sweetness; the potato stick was my favorite part, and I could have used more. The service was good, but note that you'll need to use your phone to order with a QR code. When that didn't work for us, a waiter took our order. This was my first time here, and I'll have to come back for a second try in the future.

Yelp
The pierogis were incredible and the brisket burger killed it. How is this place not a 5. The potatoes as a side were fire. The one negative is i wish there was more of it. My son enjoyed the brisket plate as well. What a gem to hit while visiting from Richmond.

Yelp
The best pierogis I have ever had!! The food is always delicious, fast service, friendly staff. We've been here twice now and each time we wanted more pierogis and said we need to be back soon!

Yelp
Ventured out in snowy Raleigh to the comforting German restaurant, J Betski's. Everyone that works here is incredibly nice and welcoming. Food was ordered with a bar code on your phone, and the service was incredibly fast. We started with the mushroom pierogies, which were incredible! The dough was chewy and crisp on the outside, and the filling was rich, cheesy, and umami. We also shared the cabbage and cauliflower salad which had delicious pickled cauliflower and onions, and the toasted pine nuts on top added a nice nutty flavor and crunch. My husband had the venison goulash meatballs - the goulash was very flavorful with warming spices and a hint of spiciness, and the meatball was very tender. I had the chicken stew, which was very rich, buttery, and herbaceous. The only issue we had with our entrees is that they weren't hot, which would have elevated the great flavor they had. We ended our meal with their soft pretzel and braised cabbage wedge. We missed the big salt crystals on the soft pretzel, but the side of mustard it came with was superb. The cabbage wedge was deliciously braised in beef stock and balsamic - very flavorful and tender. Overall this was a hearty, warm meal, perfect for a snowy night. The service was delightful and fast. The only issue was the entrees being room temperature, but all the food was very flavorful and well-priced. We will be back! 7/10 s *Mushroom & Three Cheese Pierogis: Polish dumplings filled w/ mushrooms, gruyere, parmesan, & mozzarella *Cabbage and Cauliflower Salad: coriander-turmeric-rice wine vinegar marinated cauliflower & cabbage w/ red bell pepper, toasted pine nuts, saba *Venison Goulash Meatballs: venison ' pork meatballs in goulash sauce over spaetzle *Chicken Stew: braised chicken in cognac gravy, root vegetables, mushrooms, spaetzle *Cabbage Wedge: balsamic glazed & charred *Hot Beer Pretzel: housemade sourdough & pilsner soft pretzel w/ spicy sweet mustard

Yelp
Our server was really nice, he explained how the Qr code works and the menu and how to make payments too! He didn't assume we would know how it works, and we really appreciated how nice he was. Too bad I didn't get his name. The indoors had no space when we got there so we got a table outside but then when a party left, we asked our server and he was very accommodating and seated us inside as it was a little too warm for us outside. My mum is a vegetarian and she also really enjoyed the veg options I ordered for her! We ordered 3cheese mushroom and the potato cheese pierogi, hot beer pretzel, kale and quinoa, cheese spaetzle, baked oysters and the jägerschnitzel we were pleasantly surprised by how good everything tasted. The caramelised onions and breadcrumbs are a good addition on the pierogi and spaetzle. Got a less sweet mocktail, was very basic but not the best. Loved the Togo options too, picked up a few samples, and will definitely be back for the food (dine in and/ or to go :))

Yelp
I'm a fan of J Betski's! I think it's a great spot for a casual but delicious dinner. I like that you order through the QR core, but you still get assigned a server. Each time I've been everyone has been very friendly and helpful. The pierogi's are tasty, definitely a must order here. I recently gave the pierogi burger a try and it did not disappoint . You can tell they hand make their tasty burger patties. The spaetzle is also always tasty as well. They have a solid drink menu and best options to chose your flavor profiles for mocktails. Looking forward to heading back in.

Yelp
The last time that I dined at J Betski's was when it was located in Seaboard Station so I was excited to check it out again. We started off with the potato and cheese pierogis and the cabbage-kruat-mushroom pierogis. For drinks it was a glass of sparkling rose followed by the buttered bourbon old fashioned for me and a cocktail for my husband. For our entrees it was the seared diver scallops for me and the schnitzel for him. We could not pass on dessert so we ordered the orange almond bread pudding. All of the food and drinks were so good. If you are craving German/Polish food then this spot is a must visit.

Yelp
We've been sleeping on J Betski's! Easy ordering at the table via QR code Indoor/outdoor seating options Delish pierogis Beautifully plated dinners (that was truly a surprise! Like the plating was wonderful!!!) Great German beer options Will definitely be back, we were so happy to find this spot!

Yelp
What's old becomes new again and such is the case for the new J Betski's! A long-time favorite for German and Polish eats, J Betski's shut down during the pandemic and moved to a new location off Whitaker Mill Road. Given that there are so few German or Polish dining options in the area, it's great to see it back! Inside, the space is a bit more modern and less dark, while still retaining an Eastern European sensibility. Bar in the back, a bunch of 4-tops and a large covered patio up front. They only opened this past weekend but I hopped in for dinner to see how things were. The place was very busy on an early Tuesday so I'm guessing all their old customers and clients were excited. I ordered up some delicious, pan-fried potato and cheese pierogies along with a crispy and unctuous pork chop which was slow-roasted pork shoulder in a panko-crusted coating, yum! Service was solid as usual and the place is still getting up to speed so be patient! Overall I'm quite happy to see J Betski's back online and look forward to visit #2 and trying their classic caramel-bacon, chocolate torte!

Yelp
We've gone to J Betski's a few times, and there are definitely positives; the staff are extremely nice and very diligent, and their more traditional German entrees are good. Their vegetable sides are awesome -- especially the cabbage, sauerkraut, and fried potatoes. Unfortunately, their non-traditional/more experimental dishes are not good at all; they are overly salted and either very overcooked (usually) or undercooked (only happened to me once, but it was a pork chop and completely raw in the middle). I don't like to leave this review on a place that legitimately does have good food when you play it safe, but for the prices I don't think I will try anything new from them again after several disappointing dishes.

Yelp
Small sit down neighborhood deli or takeout place that is actually a store front of a pharmacy but nice comfortable atmosphere and plenty of tables to relax at. My girlfriend and I were greeted at the counter by the owner and he gave us menus and pointed out the specials for the day. Ordered the "Nassau County Pastrami" sandwich to share (girlfriend never eats much). She almost ate the whole thing because it was delicious!! I ate my half which was chock full of pastrami and other unique toppings like pickled okra, havarti cheese etc. and the red of hers. Truly the best sandwich we've had in a long time! Delicious!! Cool relax city deli vibe in a pretty old classic neighborhood near downtown Raleigh. We'll be back from Cary again!

Yelp
First time at J. Betski's. Not a fan of German/polish food so wasn't sure I would like it. Ordering directly from the QR code at the table was a little different but it was efficient and the food came out fast. Servers were friendly and easily accessible if you needed them. Our water glasses were filled immediately and a large carafe of water left on our table which I love. I ordered the seared tuna appetizer and the beet salad. Both were absolutely fantastic. Generous portion of the tender tuna and fabulous flavors in the beet salad. My husband adored the duck but was a little disappointed that his pretzel didn't come with cheese. I probably won't be back because there wasn't much on the menu that appealed to me but what I did have this time was delicious and a great experience. Glad I tried it and would definitely recommend to others.

Yelp
Excellent taste and quality in the food, 9 out of 10; customer service and friendliness of staff 7 out of 10, atmosphere ambience 8 out of 10

Yelp
Pros: Super friendly staff. Incredibly fast service. Nice atmosphere. Challenges: I found everything to just be OK. No problems with it being hot or anything. Pretzels were fine, pierogi was good (we tried both kinds), the braised cabbage was mushier than I would have liked, and the schnitzel I felt wasn't crispy enough and had a slightly sweet flavor in the breading that just didn't work for me. Spouse did enjoy the chicken stew. I'm kind of meh on the QR code system - I like the concept, but it also meant that we needed to ask our questions upfront because it felt like after that the focus was on dropping things off and moving along. Maybe they were understaffed that night, though. That said the place was packed and everyone else seemed to be enjoying their food - just wasn't the German I'm used to and was craving. I'd still say worth checking out if you happen to be in that part of town - it was an hour drive for us, and we probably won't make it again.

Yelp
Best burger I've had recently. The smoked trout was phenomenal, and the sausages were superb. We were in Germany last month and were transported back there by the food tonight. We'll be back!

Yelp
BLUF: Those one-star reviews complained about the default tip percentage. I wouldn't trust them too much. Those one-star reviews are useless. They essentially complain about supporting small business and one of them their entire table apparently ALL ordered just the schnitzel, how about trying J Betski's many other delicious dishes! While we miss the vibe of the old place, we also love the new modernized approach. Each one of their dishes feels crafted and thought through. The sourdough pretzel's crusty exterior and tender interior. The potato's crispy exterior and delicate fluffy interior. These textures and flavors can only be made over night! Their use of the electronic ordering and pay system is very straightforward and easy to use. It allowed us to really control the pacing of our entire dinner.

Yelp
Best brisket in town, excellent service (anything we ordered was served within 10 minutes) and everything was absolutely delicious.

Yelp
This place is truly a GEM!! From the top to bottoms I loved everything about this establishment. It's several things I really like I'll start with parking it's plenty of it and even across the street parking, when you walk up it gives you a Friday night feel. The lights outside are nice when you walk in there are grab and go refrigerator which is nice bc you really might want to take something home. We were able to seat ourself and there are QR codes on the tables, you can place your order via phone or with a waiter/waitress and if you use the phone your can order everything at different time which was nice we didn't have to wait for our server to order I thought that cool bc most restaurants are short staffed and this is a brilliant idea to not have customers waiting. They bring a pitcher of water when you sit down. Now let's get to the food! It's is so DELICIOUS!! My goodness you can taste the quality and freshness in all the dishes, felt like I picked the beets out the ground myself. We also tried some unique dishes that were soooo good guys try something new and definitely go here! The desert we got was top notch I want to go back and buy a whole pan! Wooh! Guys try this place let me know if you like it! CuZ I'm pretty sure I'm in love. I had a mocktail and that was good can't wait to have some real drinks. Lastly the Owner when I say this is one of the nicest people I've met! He was just a genuine person who put love into what he does.

Yelp
Had very high hopes for the reopening So basically it's a self serve concept. Think Bar Taco minus the friendly staff. You seat yourself. Place your order(Drinks and Food) using your phone. So no interaction with a human to ask questions etc. I would describe them walking around the restaurant like Zombies, could barely get their attention. 18% service charge was automatically added to the bill. What did they do? . I did all the stuff a wait person would of done except deliver the food. I am was so ready to leave I didn't notice the 18%and I tipped on top of it. Food was great.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for an Offline event and everything we had was outstanding! Service was awesome and very chill ambiance to it. They also have premade meals to take home with you. I had no idea this place existed and I'm happy I was able to experience it as I will definitely come back. First course: Mushroom Pierogi, phenomenal! I could've eaten 10 of them. Our favorite of all courses! Second course: - Smoked salmon with potato salad, sounds weird but it was actually really good and I'm not a fan of smoked salmon. - Beet and goat cheese salad with arugula and walnuts, delicious! Third course: not pictured bc we were too excited - brisket with creamed spinach and cheese pierogi, super good! - scallops with with and sour cabbage & peppers, and mushroom dumpling. Fourth course: - peanut butter banana mouse, amazing! - chocolate hazelnut torte with bacon, really good and I am not a fan of hazelnut. (Light taste of hazelnut)

Yelp
I was craving german food. But i thought there wasn't any German food in Raleigh...till my husband discovered this place. I've tried many german restaurants but this one... actually made us cry, no joke. We sampled almost every thing. It felt like a german grandma was back there cooking. Every thing was so fresh, authentic, flavorful, and not salty like most restaurants in this city. Can't wait to come back and bring my friends!!

Ernest C.

Yelp
I need to issue a warning: Do NOT go to this restaurant if you do not want excellent food surprisingly good service and a neat ambiance. I cannot stress about how good the food was, I never had Polish-German food and was nervous about but I'm glad I tried it. I hope this place can maintain and improve its standards because they are doing something right!!!

Yelp
Tried J Betski's for the first time last night and will be for sure coming back! This is a nice casual dinner spot I would 100% recommend. You seat yourself and have a QR code at the table to order your food and drinks! The service is very fast and our waiter kindly explained how everything works. We started off with the Mushroom and Cheese and Duck Pierogi. They came out quickly and were so delicious. I loved the mushroom and cheese ones the best, the duck ones had a sweet sauce with them which I personally wasn't the biggest fan of but my partner loved them. For our mains we got Jaegerschnitzel, Pierogi Burger and Cheese Spaetzle. All of the food was amazing!
google avatar

Lorraine N.

Yelp
bar and drinks five star. they have chopin vodka!! excellent beer selection. the food menu is diverse and appealing. the sparsely was tender and delicate. a variety of pierogis were available and filling. they are doing what the can with the space but lacks character that you may be seeking in a german establishment. i also dislike having to scan a code to order my food.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food, each bite melts in your mouth. Crab was a favorite tonight. Will definitely come back to try more!

Keith S.

Yelp
Polish and german food but better. The fries and hashed together before deepfrying, creating a unique experience for your mouth. Having just moved back from working and living in Germany and Poland the last two years, this place hit the spot! The Spaetzel could have more fried onions but otherwise everything was delicious! Try everything!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing place. This was our 5th time there and each time gets better. Owner came over and introduced himself and couldn't have been nicer. Best burger in town. Incredible martini and phenomenal beer selection. Outdoor patio and indoor bar are both excellent options

Jordan A.

Yelp
Came here with some friends for dinner as it was recommended by one of them. I was pleasantly surprised. You order through your phone which made service super fast. The waitress was friendly and attentive even though she had a large party in addition to ours. I tried some of the cocktails; spicy margarita and the whiskey sour were both good. Also tried small plates, steak pirogi and oysters that were both tasty. For my main I had the duck trio which was good overall the sauce at the bottom of the plate was really good as well. The chef came to check on our table and was really nice. German/polish food is not on the top of my favorite cuisines but I'm glad I popped in to check this place out.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
I really like the new concept. Food is still great, and I love being able to order with an app anytime I want something. Food is delivered very quickly, as you don't have to wait to cater a waiter/waitress. They also have food that you can buy and take home for later.

Yelp
I've been going to JBetskys for years. I was expecting an authentic German experience just like I had at Seaboard Station. This is my first visit to the new location, and we brought friends. The food was cold and did not taste good at all. The service terrible and waiter seemed to not care. The whole experience was UNBELIEVABLY horrible. If you want to be a local bar, be that and drop all references to a German dinning experience. We will not be back.
google avatar

Samantha B.

Yelp
Food and service was really good. I highly recommend you check this place out. The bulleit bourbon sour and blueberry mule were really good. The oysters were really good and the cheesesteak pierogis were bomb!!

Yelp
J Betski's was my favorite restaurant in Raleigh, hands down. No one was doing German food and beer with this level of quality, authenticity and value in the area. Their location was tucked away in Seaboard station and had great character, so when they closed down to move, I was disappointed, but hopeful that when they reopened, it would maintain that level of excellence and charm. I put J Betski's on a pedestal so I'm sad to report that the bulk of the traits that made it stand out, are gone. Pros and Cons are below, but the biggest blow/surprise to the experience was the 18% "Admin Fee" that was tacked on to our bill, without any notice. There are no waiters, only servers. All orders are done through your phone, which at first, was quite nice; order something on your phone and it appears in minutes, no waiting for a waiter to come by, take the order, and enter it in a POS. What a novel idea! What is not a good idea is passing the cost of this capability on to the customer - that's just tacky. Maybe the 18% includes a built-in gratuity, I didn't ask but should have. Bottom line is let your customers know this is coming. Pros: - The perogies are on point! Try both and you won't be disappointed. - Unique selection of German beers on tap - Speedy service - Lots of space, including covered outdoor seating Cons: - Portion sizes are small/been reduced, but the prices have gone up - The new strip-mall location lacks character of the old one - 18% "Admin Fee" added to your bill, without notice is a joke.

Yelp
After having been a regular customer at J Betski's original location in Seaboard Station, I can say I am thoroughly disappointed and will NOT be frequenting their new location. The entire table ordered schnitzel, which was arguably OVERPRICED for a tiny sliver of pork tenderloin and no sides (having lived in Germany, I can tell you the German's would be disappointed to say the least over the prices and portions). Overpaying for schnitzel wasn't even the worst part of dining at the "new" J. Betski's, it was the fact that after YOU order on your phone and go to pay on YOUR phone, there is an 18% service charge added to the bill. This service charge is NOT posted anywhere prior to paying. It is a hidden fee that leaves you feeling angry, cheated and deceived after an arguably OVERPRICED, OK meal. After being charged 18% , you are still asked to leave a TIP for very little service being provided (wait staff only brings out your order - nothing more). J. Betski's I'm not so sure you're that great of a restaurant to rest on your laurels and think people won't be disappointed in these hidden fees. YOU WILL LOSE BUSINESS and ALREADY HAVE! BE BETTER and stop price gouging people!
google avatar

Judy B.

Yelp
We went to the new J. Betski's and though it is different, we still loved it. Do I miss the old Seaboard location? Yes but that move was not in the control of the restaurant. They have done a great job in re-pricing the menu to fit a more causal theme so we still feel we get great value for excellent food. There are quite a few reviews out there about the service charge but it is a fair charge to ensure employees are paid a living wage. The owner is a fantastic person who ensures his restaurant and employees have a future. I would ask people to be kind in how they review a business that is really doing all the right things. We love the new J. Betski's and will keep coming back.

Yelp
My husband and I were really impressed with this place! When you're seated you are given the run down by a waiter and it's the kind of restaurant where you scan a QR code and order on your phone as much as you want/as needed. We liked this because it meant we could go at our own pace and the food comes out really quick! The beer was great, the appetizers were good, and I have to note that the mustard that came with the pretzel was amazing! I never thought I'd enjoy a mustard quite that much. We also got the cheese spaetzle, sausage plate, and schnitzel. I would order everything we got again.

Bob S.

Yelp
Great food, speedy service, really enjoyed my dinner. Wide variety of tasty things from stuffed oysters, to pierogi and spaetzle. I will definitely return for more delicious food.

Food is excellent, it's a little on the expensive side but worth it. Others mentioned a service charge but I did not revive one. There was a tip section when I paid but it was clearly marked and editable. The restaurant is small but not crowded with limited seating. We shared a sausage plate and ordered 3 sides and split it. We also had a pretzel. We will be back.

Yelp
My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner here tonight. The drinks were excellent and the food was top notch. I'm so glad to have found a German restaurant in Raleigh. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
So happy to see this place open again. I was a semi-regular customer at their previous Seaboard Station location, which was one of my favorites in Raleigh. I hadn't read about the new place, so the changes were a bit of a shock, but overall I really like the new concept. The food is the same excellently turned out German/Eastern European fare. The beer list is expanded and I look forward to trying my way around the wine list. As other reviewers have mentioned, the ordering process is different - relying on a phone and app. It is more casual and less personal than before. We ended up approaching it like tapas - ordering a couple of plates at a time, which worked with the size of the plates. We enjoyed being able to pace our own ordering (the service is incredibly fast) and once we adjusted that the new concept is a pretty significant departure from the restaurant we remembered and loved, we leaned into the new place. We loved it and are planning to return this week. A word about the service charge and pricing: yep, there is an 18% service charge on the bill. Yep, there is also the space to add a tip if you are inclined. The restaurant spelled this policy out pretty clearly on their website. Count me among the folks who didn't read the website before visiting. 18% is a bit less than I would have tipped, and frankly, I really prefer that the restaurant handle gratuity this way. It's simple and hopefully is set up so everybody earns a living wage (we did find the waitstaff to be very pleasant and efficient, though there is less time spent with them than at the previous incarnation). Overall, dinner and drinks weren't cheap but they were just as great as I remembered them to be. If you were a fan of J Betskis before, expect a lot of the same DNA in the food and drink, but a wholly different environment. Bright, open, modern, etc. If you've never been, I'd enthusiastically recommend giving it a try. If you want to go gently and just dip your toe in the water, pick a nice spring afternoon, sit on the patio and order a beer and some of the pierogies - which are flipping amazing.

Yelp
One of the best burgers I have had in years. The staff - David and John are so friendly. My fiancé and I have come back multiple Friday nights in a row (and even brought our dog). Highly suggest as it has become a weekly staple for us!

Yelp
Soooooo good! Schnitzel and chocolate torte to die for! Faster than fast food and absolutely amazing service.

Yelp
As a long time fan of Betski's I want to express some disappointment in the new changes. This was my first time back after the "rebranding" and move and I have to say I don't like the changes at all. Betski's now feels like every other "modern" resturaunt, it's lost much of the charm I loved it for. It once was a dark cramp "hole-in-the-wall" feeling pub that felt right out of Berlin! It was moody and oozing with personality. It's now white-washed, "clean" looking and entirely open concept, it feels devoid of the old Betski charm it once had. It isn't the special night-out resturaunt anymore, now it's more like a neighborhood bar. The service has also gotten an overhaul. You know order off your phone and have virtually not interaction with a waiter. It feels very cold and inhospitable because of this change. Not to mention the mandatory 18% service fee. Finally the food, I am happy to report that the quality of food is much the same. My issue is that overall it's become more expensive and my favorite dish, the schnitzel, was shrunk! No longer do I get to look forward to a Schnitzel the size of my plate! Now it's 1/2 the size (with twice the sides) but frankly doesn't feel worth the money. Because of a these changes, I don't think I will be returning to Betski's. RIP good old Betski's.

Yelp
The fact that every review mentions the over the top 18% service charge and the management has yet to change the policy makes me question whether to go there again. The food was very good, but never like when a business is not clear on prices. Raise your price if you have to as in the long run people will accept that over trying to sneak a fee past them. Many times I bet people don't notice when they pay the bill, but when they do this won't go over well. I hope to hear this policy changes as I live in the neighborhood as would go back for the food.

Yelp
Great food and happy to have the restaurant back in action. The 18% is added but if you don't understand the price point for this level of food is exceptional then stay home or head to Snoopy's for their high cuisine nitrate infused death dogs.

Yelp
Food was amazing. We had the brisket burger, mushroom and 3 cheese perogies, braised sauerkraut, sausage plate with braised cabbage. Everything was awesome. Service was good and the food arrived lightning fast. Suggestions: do not use paper bowl for for the Sauer kraut, upgrade to a real bowl. Upgrade from can coke. Play some German and polish music from time to time, even if contemporary. Overall, great 1st experience!

Yelp
Food was something different and delicious! Our group had beer pretzels, oysters, schnitzel, scallops, beet salad, spinach salad. Everything was outstanding. Every table was filled on a Thursday night so the word is out. Give it a try!

Yelp
Really love this place. The food is really good and the staff is friendly. We met the owner on our last visit and he was so nice. They do an ordering system where you scan a QR code on your table and then order online from your phone, which makes the experience very relaxing because you can order what you want, when you want it. Some recommended menu items: so much is good here; these are just my favorites. The pierogi burger is the best burger I have ever had; I wish they had a slider version so we could share it with friends. I also love the mushroom three cheese pierogi's, the cheese spatzil, and the Buttered Old fashioned. They also have a great beer selection with some german beer's my husband loves.

Yelp
I was excited to see a new restaurant open next to one of my favorite neighborhood places - Taste. Excellent burger and drink (Old Fashioned). I knew when ordering that an 18% service charge was automatically added. Seemed a bit high for almost no service (you order and pay on an app). Not a big deal, as I want employees to be well-compensated. However, upon closing out the bill (on the app), an additional "tip" (15 or 18%, I'm not sure) was pre-selected, with the phrase "100% of tips go to the kitchen staff". I assumed the original service charge was going to employees, not management/owners. One of the owners/managers did come over while we were eating to thank us for coming and see if we liked the food, and say they were working all the kinks out of this new location. I hope they re-consider this policy.
