Yelp
This place is amazing. The food is so fresh, and everything tastes house made. Living in the area, I have seen many renditions of this space, and I am happy it settled with this restaurant. We have eaten here several times, including for brunch, and the food as been fantastic each time!
Every time I come here I always need to order certain items since they are amazing! I love the cornbread. It is not too dry like some places tend to be, and has a bit of a zing with little flecks of jalapenos. You can get orange butter, which goes perfectly with the bread on the side. I also order a side of mac and cheese. It comes with breadcrumbs on top, and it creamy and delicious. In the past I've had their onions rings, which are amazing, but this time I got the garlic Brussels sprouts which were really nice. I also usually get their smoked jumbo BBQ wings without any sauce. The reason I abstain from the their sauce is because their wings are magical, and taste like mini turkey legs from the Renaissance festival, and I hate covering us the remarkable flavor of the wings with sauce. I would recommend getting the sauce on the side so you can taste the smokey flavor. They come with carrots and celery and a spicy house made ranch, but their horsey sauce that goes with the brisket is so incredible, get a side of that as well.
One child got the butter milk fried chicken which was perfectly crispy. The other got the four by four sandwich which has no competition what so ever. That sandwich was bigger than her head, and came with almost every kind of meat they serve. It had turkey, brisket, sausage, and chicken wing, and a rib all on Texas toast with a side of BBQ spicy fries.
Finally, my husband got a brisket sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries which disappeared very quickly since it was cooked to perfection.
The portions are nice here, and we ended up with three boxes to take home. We rarely have room for dessert, but the dessert I've had in the past was very memorable, and I'd consider coming just for dessert since the meals are so big I never have room. I also like the beers on tap. They usually only offer about five, but they are usually good ones. This time I had the delectable blackberry Perrin and the Saugatuck Neapolitan. They also have a nice variety of cans and bottles plus some yummy sounding cocktails.
The space is tiny, homey, and adorable. I enjoy the eclectic farmhouse decor. It is fun, family friendly, and good neighborly here. At the front they have games for patrons with kids, or for patrons that want to unwind with fun activities like jenga with friends. I have played that many times with my daughter.
