Thoroughly excellent food and service! One of my favorite BBQ places. Prices are very reasonable as well! We like to get their family style meal where you get 5 different kinds of meats and 4 sides. The smoked chicken wings are awesome! The drinks here are great too, and they have outdoor seating.

Google
Delicious BBQ restaurant with a cool atmosphere and friendly staff. The brisket was flavorful and well portioned. My friend had the Memphis Hot Chicken which was awesome and the sides were outstanding too. Excellent draught beer selection also

Google
I want to preface by saying, food was phenomenal. I go out to eat for food, not to have people dote on me. So, my critique of their service is only because some people care about that. It felt like from the time we got there, no one was sure who's table we were and no one seemed to want us. Someone sat us and said someone else will be there for our drink order. The person who took our order said she was helping the person who was ACTAULLY waiting on us would be right over. Then a completely different person dropped off our drinks and said someone else would take our food order. Food got dropped off and we never saw anyone again. Drinks sat empty through dinner. Now that that's out of the way, everything on the menu looked amazing and when out three dishes arrived, they were on point. My burger was great, the brisket was soft and flavorful. Even the kids mac n cheese was above and beyond. The signature cocktails were tasty and looked great. Sat on the patio which was spacious and quiet enough for an easy conversation Calling the service a fluke! I'll be back, even if it isn't great!

Google
We had the 3 meat sampler with brisket pulled pork and baby back ribs. The pulled pork was the only thing I didn't think was absolutely amazing. Too dry but he ribs and brisket were best I've had. The Mac and cheese also amazing. The Nashville chicken sandwich was a perfect spice and the gumbo was full of flavor 10/10 . Service was great. Awesome n/a beer selection. Sangria was best my gf has ever had.

Google
Great atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff, mouth watering food. We tried the fried chicken, smoked Turkey and beef brisket, all were absolutely delicious! The macaroni, sweet and spicy fries, as well as baked beans were very savory. I wasn’t a big fan of the coleslaw, it was slightly bland. The sauces were delicious, there’s something for every different taste bud, from seeet sauces to spicy. They sell Faygo Floats there which I would definitely recommend! I couldn’t get enough of the drink called Breaking the Ice, that bartender has magic fingers. You can dine in or outside, we were seated immediately which was very nice!

The smoked 🍖 that's offered is top notch & the drinks will get u where you're going 4 sure. Lol! The owner Paula is cool calm & full of excitement, great at customer service & easy on the eyes.

Google
Ordered a catering order containing: Brisket, smoked chicken, pulled pork, sausage, ribs, baked beans, salad, potato salad, and their sauces. Everything was amazing, brisket and ribs were very tender and the smoked chicken was one of our favorites. Potato salad was a crowd favorite! Everything was fairly priced and everyone we worked with/spoke to was very kind. Will definitely be going back!

Yelp
J Bird Smoked Meats is easily one of my favorite barbecue spots around--and I've been a loyal fan for years. While I did feel they hit a bit of a rough patch about a year ago, I'm thrilled to say the magic is back and better than ever. The brisket? Incredibly tender with that crave-worthy bark and deep smoky flavor. The ribs? Fall-off-the-bone fantastic. The mac and cheese? Rich, creamy, and crowned with the perfect crunchy topping. Even the beans and cornbread are stars in their own right. You can tell the team has dialed things back in--attention to flavor, texture, and presentation is right where it should be. And the ambiance? Casual, welcoming, and exactly what you want from a spot serving comfort food this good. That said, I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5--not because anything was off this time, but because consistency is key. If they keep this current momentum going, I'll be happy to bump it to 5 on my next visit. So if you've been sleeping on J Bird lately, consider this your wake-up call. They're back, baby.

Yelp
Great spot! Loved the flavors and fresheness. Friendly service from the owner! These people know what they're doing. They have been in the game a long time. Much respect.

Yelp
Oh, J Bird Smoked Meats--Where the Customer Is Always...Wrong! Placed a $100 carryout order from J Bird's, because what better way to celebrate a decade of loyalty than with a mountain of meat and their famed Loaded Parm Tots? Spoiler alert: the "tots" didn't show up to the party. Instead, I got... one lonely lump that looked like it had a potato distant relative once. Maybe it was a hush puppy. Maybe it was a cry for help. Who's to say? Naturally, I called to sort it out, expecting a quick "Oops! Let's fix that." But no! I was told--by Paula, the owner herself--that her staff of 20 years does not make mistakes. Ever. You know, like robots. Or possibly deities. Now, I'm no potato amateur. I've got 50+ years of advanced tuber experience. Mashed, fried, baked, spiralized--I know a tot when I see (or don't see) one. Still, Paula doubled down like she was defending the crown jewels. I explained I've been a customer for over a decade, have never once asked for a credit, and wasn't trying to pull off a $13 potato heist. But Paula? She was having none of it. She refused the refund, stood firm in the belief that reality was optional, and basically told me my 10+ years of loyalty didn't matter. Bold strategy, Paula. Let's see how it plays out. So congratulations, J Bird. You've saved $13 and lost a customer who's probably spent thousands. That's what I call visionary leadership. The tots may be gone, but the bitter taste? That's gonna linger.

Yelp
We just relocated from Palm Springs, CA to Keego Harbor and stopped in here for dinner. The place was clean and staff were friendly with a nice atmosphere. My only question is why they don't cook requested well done?? Our waiter told us the chef can't cook to order he only does rare to medium rare. Anyone else have this experience? We changed one of our dinner choices to avoid rare cooked meat. My burnt ends were really good as was our other sandwich. Would love to try a burger but only well done. I hope the mgmt replies to my review and helps me understand the rare to well done issue.

Yelp
We saw all the mixed reviews and still decided to give this place a try. I'll start off with the good: Bf really enjoyed his burger and fries -- he's very critical about burgers. Although they didn't ask how he wanted his burger cooked, it was cooked well done and he still enjoyed it. It was a sunny hot day and they opened up all their doors so the inside of the restaurant was very stuffy and hot, with no fans or anything. Not a very pleasant atmosphere for eating. We actually considered walking out upon arrival, turns out we should have. Lol I ordered the meat sampler. Pulled pork was extremely dry and overcooked. Even when I drenched it in the bbq sauce, it was hard to chew. Initially, we inquired about our food because it was taking awhile and our nice server told us it takes anywhere from 20-25 minutes. It would've been nice to have been informed about that beforehand. So in my head I was expecting a big bone-in chicken breast but it was just an overcooked, dry, small skinless boneless chicken breast. On their menu they state more than once that the Nashville chicken is non-returnable if it's too spicy but fail to mention that it's cooked to order and will take at least 20 minutes. Priorities! Lol Baby back Ribs were OK. Brussel sprouts were barely cooked. The server said they're Al dente but they were definitely not even cooked until Al dente, and I'm a cook myself! Returned those and asked for baked beans. *Baked beans were the highlight of my meal.* Server was very nice, but the place seemed short staffed. No upbeat energy. Too many iron skillets and needed as many ceiling fans to help with air circulation. Curious-What's the deal with the fish and coral decor? I was so disappointed with my meal I immediately left because I just wanted the whole experience to be over. When my bf discussed the dry meats with the server, the chef only offered a $1.50 discount... lol unreal. Even the server questioned that amount too. $50 tab and 5% off the meal when 2 of the 3 meats were inedible. My Meat sample meal was $30 and I barely finished it. $1.50 discount is an insult and meaningless. I highly suggest the chef tastes what he puts out there. And if he does, that's abominable. I genuinely wish this establishment the best of luck because I have no clue how they're still in business. Cheers

Yelp
The balding young man Brendan was wonderful, he was a little off putting but none the less very cheerful. Food was great again the young man with the receding hairline was great.

Yelp
When the 2 of us arrived, it was not crowded yet. We were sat at a two top booth/table In the middle of a few four tops. The restaurant had one other active table. About 15 minutes later a group of 4 came in. Guess where they were seated? Right next to us! The restaurant was basically empty. Why do this? Then about 15 minutes later, same thing but the other side! It might have been an enjoyable experience but due to the incompetence of the host, it was not. The food was pretty good. The coleslaw should have been colder. The beer, too. The meats were pretty good. Been here a few times and generally it's pretty good. To the host: think about where you seat people!

Yelp
Great service helping by Chris in helping us decide on the menu. Fodd was delicious! Must Try , cool lake town ambience!

Yelp
Ordered carry out today and the food was delicious. The J burger was amazing with the zap sauce and the special sauce. We also ordered the mason Dixon chicken salad, which was unbelievable. Also, the baked beans were out of this world. A must try!

J J.

Yelp
Stay away from these crooks. I will never ever shop here again. I ordered a carry out and i had to pay gratuity? Lmaooo. I left the food for paula and walked out. Please do not treat customers like that.

Yelp
I feel bad, but this was our first time here and it just wasn't good. We waited over half an hour for our food which was a little frustrating. We ordered their dinner for 2 which sounded like we were getting quite a bit of food for $54. Unfortunately the 4 sides are individual size which I asked before we ordered if each side was sharable and I was told they were. The ribs were very dry, the fried chicken was also very dry. The cornbread was cold, I had to ask if they'd heat it up. The baked beans were hard but someone may prefer them that way. My biggest complaints are the length of time we waited for our food, the dry-ness of the meats and each side only being enough for 1 person when this was a "dinner for 2". Total with drinks was $63. Not worth it.

Yelp
J Bird Smoked Meats catered a 50 person dinner this past Friday at our Waterford home that was nothing short of spectacular! The food arrived at our house at the agreed upon time and was everything we had hoped for! Throughout the evening our guests were continuously complimenting my wife and I on the quality and flavor of the smoked ribs, pulled pork, herb chicken, potato salad and cole slaw. The strawberry cake was beautiful and loved by our guests. Thank you, Jeremy and J Bird! You hit it out of the park!

Larry V.

Yelp
Had the platter for two, the ribs were dry but overall the food and sides were good. I was irritated that every side had an upcharge along with the baby back rib upcharge. Sorry to say I won't be returning, I will go to Bad BRAD'S BBQ.

Thomas C.

Yelp
Friendly and good service. Went there for a family dinner and was extremely happy. Kudos to the staff.

Yelp
There was a lot to like. I am torn on my review of J Bird Smoked Meats. I gave it 3 because I came for the ribs. I ordered the baby back ribs with the glaze. I thought they were fatty (for baby backs ?) and the glaze was ok. I am picky on ribs, so factor that in. My disappointment colored the whole meal. I had a taste for them. My son and I had the Family meal for 2. It was a lot of food. We got our money's worth. My son can eat some food, and he had enough to eat. It was a good deal for BBQ. Made for good leftovers that all were eaten the next day. Continuing with the breakdown (The family meal comes with a bunch of choices) - The brisket was very good. - Salmon was ok - Fried chicken, excellent. Crispy and juicy - Mac-N-Cheese, excellent. Some of the best I have had. - Baked Beans, excellent. - Sweet potato fries, very good (and I am not a fan) - Onion Rings, excellent Everything had a unique spin, which I appreciate. I really like the atmosphere. Feels like a BBQ place. Our service was great. We were seated promptly. The waitress was attendant, and suggested a few things off the menu. I will be back to find my way through the menu.

Mike H.

Yelp
Had a very good brisket, cornbread and onion ring combo. Smoky flavor adds a nice compliment to savory meat. This is our go to restaurant when we desire a savory and smoky blend. Onion rings are very good.

Yelp
Best BBQ in Oakland County. We've been coming here for a few years now several times each month. The fried chicken and burnt ends are our favorite and helped us survive the pandemic as one of our top carry out picks. The gumbo is also among the best I've had. Unfortunately service is often hit and miss. The kitchen seems to have major problems producing food quickly even when the restaurant is empty.

Rachel K.

Yelp
We used Jeremy and J Bird Smoked Meats for catering for a first rodeo themed birthday. The food was absolutely outstanding. Every single person (45+ adults and children) complimented the food. Everything was well prepared and organized. Would love to order and enjoy the food again. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Ordered door dash: not recommended, probably won't go there either. Overall: wow this was an epic disappointment for the amount it cost (just shy of a Benjamin for 2 meals). To be fair, I've never had their food before but considering how bad the first impression was, we probably won't try it again. Sorry chall, I'm not a fan of neg reviews but this one was compelling enough share. My 3 meat combo -brisket: not good -pulled pork: pretty good -sausage: not my thing at all -fries: good prob in restaurant -bacon beans: pretty good -sauces: pretty good ***I ordered lean meat and they gave it to me which was very awesome of them but it was still the worst meat I've had in a while. The brisket had slinky fat/tendon when pulling apart which made it chewy. I'm a yid and love bbq so I'm no stranger to good brisket. The extra sauce containers we paid for had less than a quarter inch of sauce in them so I thought they might be used or something which was disconcerting. Wife's food -chicken: spice flavor is good but wouldn't order again -bun: soggy and inedible -chili: she wouldn't eat it, was greasy and looked like it had all the old pieces of meat off the cutting board -corn bread: good -mustard sauce: she liked a lot -other sauces: she didn't like -overall: she was mad at me for putting her thorough this

Yelp
I ordered the 3 meat combination through Uber Eats because I had a coupon. I got the brisket, fried chicken and salmon, and brussels sprouts and macaroni & cheese for the sides. It sounded like there were would be a lot of food. Well, there was one piece of non-descript, kind of spicy chicken. Not very good. The 2 pieces of brisket were very dry. I did like the salmon, though. The brussels sprouts and mac and cheese were good. The only sauce that came with it was a zip sauce. I was surprised that there was no barbecue sauce. I've eaten AT the restaurant a couple times in the past and it was good, but this delivery experience was not good. And had I paid full price for the meal, I would have been extremely upset, as this certainly wasn't worth $27.

Scott H.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. I do not believe any of three star reviews or below. I've driven by 1000 times stopped in for the first time and was extremely impressed! Great atmosphere and even better food!

Yelp
I wish i could give them a million stars!! they are awesome. The blueberry lemonade and the mac and cheese are the best! definitely recommend

Yelp
Amazing, I love this place. The ribs were a little salty, but very meaty. This is Big Papa approved
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner. Tried the 3 meat plate with Pulled Pork, fried Chicken, and Turkey. The Fried chicken was insanely good. The pulled pork was good and I enjoyed the turkey which was really juicy. Good selection of BBQ sauces. The coleslaw was nice with a little kick of horseradish and the apples were spot on. It comes with a piece of cornbread which cold use a tad bit of sweetness. However the citrus butter that they serve with it takes in to a whole new level. They could serve it by themselves as a desert. Overall great BBQ place worth the visit.

Yelp
Received a DoorDash order food cold and beef brisket 4 pieces, 3 out of 4 pieces full of fat...dine in is much better...requested a refund

Yelp
Food was very good; service was a bit slow, (which was surprising) given it was a slow night.

Mark R.

Yelp
Casual barbecue with tempting sauces , hearty gumbo and chili , craft brews plus David for excellence and attention to detail service . The smoked meats are high quality with recommended sides including baked pit beans, fried green tomatoes , Mac and cheese . Get the Nashville hot ( sauce on side ) chicken or tenders . Addicting
google avatar

Stacey S.

Yelp
What a great little place! I was pleasantly surprised how cute the decor is. I can't say enough about the fried chicken here. I tried the Nashville hot dinner and a BLT salad (both great!). We ordered a couple of carryout meals and YAY! I loved the fact that the containers are paper (not styrofoam). The service was really good and she was right on with her recommendations to the food, so happy to have her help us out! Definitely will be returning! Again, that fried chicken. Wow! Oh I forgot: the restroom is done up with this cute "fence" theme and the hand soap comes in one of the little BBQ sauce containers. Really cute!
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
If you are a meat lover this place is for you! They can BBQ anything and provide several different sauces for you to choose from. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the service is pleasing. This place is not cheap but well worth the price!
google avatar

Tim M.

Yelp
Food was good, (a little over priced IMO) but I can't stand a place with a forced gratuity. For a party of 6? The service was not worth the 20% tip. It's almost like they know they're getting the 20%, so who cares how my service is. (I actually ended up over tipping more, cause I didn't realize there was a forced gratuity. Server could have said something instead of milking me for an extra $40) We won't be going back.

Nicole M.

Yelp
Came in on Friday night, host was rude at entry. My husband added sausage to his chicken meal and didn't get it... we also paid for a side of corn bread that we didn't get. The food that we did get was good, but it was unfortunate to not get everything we ordered and have rude staff greeting us at the door.

Danny T.

Yelp
Foods great until you find hair in your food and they give you a 20$ credit to eat there again

Yelp
Sometimes I wish we could break down ratings based on food versus service. If so, I'd go with 4 for food and 2 for service. Explanations to follow. To start the location is great, there aren't many decadent restaurants in Keego/Waterford area. The interior is cute and nicely decorated. The parking lot is very small and I noticed many people parked in the vacant restaurant across the street and walked over. Upon walking in it was very busy and there is no place to wait. It was a beautiful day so waiting outside was an option but in the winter I imagine that stinks! The hostess appeared to be mad at the world and was not very friendly at all. When we were finally sat, she literally threw down the menus and walked off. We waited about 10 mins before a server came and dropped off waters, again, she said ZERO words, and walked away. 10 more mins later and our official server came over, name said hello or her name and asked if we were ready to order, luckily we were. Our food took a VERY long time to arrive, it was at least 30 mins. The server also forgot to bring out someone's drink. However, the food was very good. I had the salmon, Brussel sprouts, and baked apples. The salmon was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the remoulade it came with was delicious also. I was not a huge fan of the brussels, they are typically my favorite but there were under cooked and drowning in garlic. The rest of my party enjoyed the brisket and a burger. So overall food was great. Our server never checked on us, we waited 45 mins for our check. It was like she just disappeared. Luckily we weren't in a rush but it was a very slow night.

Yelp
YUMMM. Great bbq, and a really good wait staff. People at my table did not speak English very well, and our waitress was very patient with us. The restaurant itself is decorated well, with a country atmosphere

Yelp
This was my first time eating at J birds and I would say it's the average BBQ. The service of this place is excellent, the food comes fast and the servers are on their A game. The brisket was a tad dry, the cornbread was dry as well and the fried green tomatoes were very hard. The flavor itself of everything was delicious so perhaps I just an inconsistent serving but I would give it another shot as the smoke itself for the brisket was good and everything else was beautifully done/ displayed.
google avatar

Lawrence N.

Yelp
Hugely disappointed with our food at Jbird! I had to ask server to affirm one of our dishes was Pulled Pork, so tasteless & dry we couldn't eat it. Fried Chicken (which was the last dish to come out) overcooked & DRY. Ribs with sauce ok...B-. The Brisket varied in slice quality between decent to tough & dry C+. Cornbread..a joke, tasted stale & dry D- (the worst I've ever had). The only thing that looked and tasted very good is the Smoked Turkey & sweet potato fries. It took 50 minutes for the food to start arriving (after I told them we were leaving in 5 min). It's frikken BBQ, slice the meat etc. The only thing that is cooked to order was fried chicken & fries. Jeremy the owner is supposed to be a great chef but you'd NEVER know it by what's served at his one & only restaurant. The cook offered us free dessert but honestly 50% off the $88 bill would have been more appropriate.
google avatar

Yelp
Overpriced, small portions, horrible sauces and overcooked. The good: Server was nice. Mac and cheese was tasty. Beer and wine good. And that's where it ends. The bad: So the fried chicken dinner was over cooked and for 16 expect more then one leg and a breast cut in half. The hot sauce is just burn no flavor at all just mouth numbing nonsense. It's like a bro made it to be a douche and not to increase the dining experience. Brisket dinner dry and three slices of mostly fat not good. The add on ribs are a joke. Cornbread was tasteless and small corner cuts come on it's cornbread up your cut size and find some flavor. Finally the sauces are blah trash. Might as well grab a bottle of meijer brand bbq because that's better than anything in that sauce caddy.

Yelp
We had never been and my husband passes it regularly so we decided to try it out last week! Well it was so good we had it two days in a row! The first time we ordered the dinner for 2 people and had baby back ribs with dry rub, salmon, fried chicken, pulled pork and sausage. Sides were green beans, slaw, baked beans and Mac! My son had chicken tenders and fries. He loved them and so did I. The batter for the tenders was homemade. Delicious! Our favorites were the ribs, sausage, green beans, baked beans and Mac. The baked beans were amazing!!!! Our favorite side for sure! The baby backs didn't even need bbq sauce they were so well seasoned and full of flavor. Definitely layers of flavor from the smoke and rub. The sausage was delicious and the mustard sauce they serve is so yummy!!

Yelp
Best food in Michigan. Better BBQ than in all of Texas. The meats are mind meltingly good. Sides will make you see Jesus. Deserts are crack. The people here are incredible human beings as well. If Michigan could be represented by a single restaurant, it should be J Birds. I decided to delay moving to Florida a whole year just have J Birds in my life another year more. Go bless your taste buds and be prepared to tip the bill out of sheer bliss. 10/5 stars.

Yelp
Holy moly. Just picked up some curb-side carry out. Amazing. Exceeded our expectations. The dry rub baby back ribs = mwah! Magnificent. The buttermilk slaw and Mac & cheese (drizzled with BBQ sauce) were great. Appreciate them cranking out such great food on a holiday AND in the midst of this crazy corona!

Will Y.

Yelp
I would eat here again! Poor lady waiting the whole restaurant herself but did a very good job keeping up and she was very nice. Only thing is that I watched a couple stand at the front door for about 30 minutes due to the "please wait to be seated" sign. I waited about 1 minute before seating myself but it's definitely worth it. I would recommend trying it out especially if you're in the Keego/Waterford area!
google avatar

Chelsea T.

Yelp
The mac and cheese is one of the best I've had so far! We will be back to try more. Their Nashville hot chicken is one of our favorites around.
google avatar

Stacy K.

Yelp
This place is amazing. The food is so fresh, and everything tastes house made. Living in the area, I have seen many renditions of this space, and I am happy it settled with this restaurant. We have eaten here several times, including for brunch, and the food as been fantastic each time! Every time I come here I always need to order certain items since they are amazing! I love the cornbread. It is not too dry like some places tend to be, and has a bit of a zing with little flecks of jalapenos. You can get orange butter, which goes perfectly with the bread on the side. I also order a side of mac and cheese. It comes with breadcrumbs on top, and it creamy and delicious. In the past I've had their onions rings, which are amazing, but this time I got the garlic Brussels sprouts which were really nice. I also usually get their smoked jumbo BBQ wings without any sauce. The reason I abstain from the their sauce is because their wings are magical, and taste like mini turkey legs from the Renaissance festival, and I hate covering us the remarkable flavor of the wings with sauce. I would recommend getting the sauce on the side so you can taste the smokey flavor. They come with carrots and celery and a spicy house made ranch, but their horsey sauce that goes with the brisket is so incredible, get a side of that as well. One child got the butter milk fried chicken which was perfectly crispy. The other got the four by four sandwich which has no competition what so ever. That sandwich was bigger than her head, and came with almost every kind of meat they serve. It had turkey, brisket, sausage, and chicken wing, and a rib all on Texas toast with a side of BBQ spicy fries. Finally, my husband got a brisket sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries which disappeared very quickly since it was cooked to perfection. The portions are nice here, and we ended up with three boxes to take home. We rarely have room for dessert, but the dessert I've had in the past was very memorable, and I'd consider coming just for dessert since the meals are so big I never have room. I also like the beers on tap. They usually only offer about five, but they are usually good ones. This time I had the delectable blackberry Perrin and the Saugatuck Neapolitan. They also have a nice variety of cans and bottles plus some yummy sounding cocktails. The space is tiny, homey, and adorable. I enjoy the eclectic farmhouse decor. It is fun, family friendly, and good neighborly here. At the front they have games for patrons with kids, or for patrons that want to unwind with fun activities like jenga with friends. I have played that many times with my daughter.

Yelp
One of the best smoked meat restaurants I have eaten at over the years. On this particular night I ordered the smoked Beef brisquet with smoky fries and summer squash which was excellent. My wife ordered the smoked salmon, sweet potato fries and summer squash and was equally satisfied with all aspects of her meal. To complement the meal, we had a house red wine and a Marguerita that was absolutely fabulous and went down so well as we sat on the outside patio in 85 degree heat. Really a magnificent meal to complement an amazing summer nite in Michigan. Relative to ambiance and service, service was outstanding in all aspects and the ambiance of this restaurant with their indoor/outdoor dining with garage doors opening to the outside cannot be beat. Truly a a wonderful dining experience where we are loyal customers who keep coming back and back and back.......

Yelp
So the decor inside is rustic and kind of has a small town, old school feel. The smells alone coming from the kitchen with all the smoked meat and barbecue are awesome. Me and my wife chose the family meal for 2 which includes half a slab of ribs, four types of meat, and four small sides for under $20 a person. We chose pulled pork, turkey, beef brisket, and andouille sausage, with cornbread, J Bird style mac and cheese, roasted apples, and garlic flavored brussel sprouts for sides. Fast forward 20 minutes later and what you see in the pictures is what we got. Everything was flavorful. The brisket had a hearty smokiness in it, the tender meat was easily plucked from the ribs, the sausage had good heat, and even the turkey was moist and full of flavor. The mac and cheese was creamy and savory, the cornbread was better than other locations', and the roasted apples were not too sweet, but had a good flavor of cinnamon in each bite. The waitresses were very friendly and attendant to every need. Overall, I could not have asked for a better barbecue meal with the one I love.

Yelp
I went here for the gumbo and the bread pudding. The gumbo, was way too thick, and just brown. It sort of had a sweet taste to it, that wasn't good. The bread pudding was good, but the sauce had wayyyy too bourbon or rum in it. It was as if they hadn't cooked the alcohol off, before serving it. It would be really good, if it didn't taste like pure liquor.

Yelp
I've been here three times. The first time was, honestly, not that good. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't that good. That was before the name change, so i figured it may have improved and decided to try it again. The second visit was much better and I was glad I gave this place a second chance. We had the family style meal for two people and were impressed, particularly with the pulled pork and the cornbread. It was a decent portion size of different items and quite suitable for sampling various items from the menu. The atmosphere was mediocre at best, but the food and service were considerably better than the first visit. It was good enough to warrant a third visit, anyway. On the third visit, I found it to be better than the first, but not as good as the second. The service was pleasant, but slower and less attentive than the second visit. The food was still good enough, but there are better such places around for smoked meats and the like. So, I can't say it is bad - it isn't. I can't say it is amazing, either. So far, it just seems somewhat inconsistent. It has all the potential to be excellent, but it seems to sometimes just miss the mark. I'll probably give it some time and then try it a few more times to see if gets consistently better.
