Atlanta's Best Kid-Friendly Restaurants

"Though all 17 area locations of Marietta-born J. Christopher’s have their distinctive wall colors and quirky art, the one thing that resonates across all the breakfast bistros is their love of children. Beyond being observant hosts (Yes, thank you for bringing us a lidded cup without asking), they’re also quite accommodating with their menu. Doesn’t matter if your kid wants an elaborate breakfast (blueberry pancakes and eggs) or a simple lunch (cheese quesadilla), this delightful chain of diners is always clutch for worn-out parents." - demarco williams, nina reeder, jacinta howard

French toast, sausage links and potatoes will cost you about $22 here. in my opinion, you can tell the food isn’t made fresh to order. the potatoes were hard, sausage could’ve been cooked a little bit more (still had a good flavor), but the French toast was hitting!

I’ve dined in twice and picked up once so I think it’s time to review. The take out was an omelet that had very few insides, all on one half only. Was not happy. First done in Danny was my server and I loved him. Made some recommendations and left me with a whole carafe of coffee bc he saw I needed it. The pimento cheese and bacon omelet was perfect it and I crave it constantly! Biscuit and grits good size too. Third trip had the western omelet biscuit and grits. Smaller grits and dried biscuit. Odd for a 715 service. I didn’t catch the waitress name bc she didn’t offer it. Didn’t bring necessary items for my take home items but quickly got them when asked. In the one picture it shows mid week specials. Can’t beat $7 for omelet (super stuffed too!) and sides.

We at breakfast at J. Christopher’s on Tuesday, November 5th at 9:30AM. The food and service ( by server Margaret ) were very good. I would recommend J. Christopher’s and will have breakfast there again.

I have celiac and I loved this place. They were happy to make the eggs Benedict with gluten-free toast and the side of fruit was very fresh. My husband had the blueberry crunch cake and really enjoyed it as well.

Google
This place is jumping OFF!!! I wasn't sure at first because I saw that they did not have a lot of waiters and waitresses and it was only two Cooks but I have to tell you the manager stepped up cleaning off tables doing silverware and the cooks and the waiters and waitresses rocked out. I was probably like 7th on the list and waited like 10 minutes. It was worth the wait the food is delicious, the French toast is awesome and those grits are to die for so just make sure you get the Grits if you come visit. Definitely recommend this place for some good breakfast and you can go on your way and it's not that expensive

Just to be clear, the service was 5 stars but the food brought my rating down to 4. This location is cozy and light. Located in midtown. I went around 1030 AM on a Friday. There were only 2 servers working along with the back of house crew so they were very much short staffed but both of the servers were working hard! They were also friendly and attentive which I greatly appreciated. I ordered the breakfast plate with bacon and potatoes as well as an almond milk latte and one traditional pancake. The biscuit and potatoes on the breakfast plate were a bit disappointing. I prefer the potatoes cooked a bit more and the biscuit was dry. The eggs and bacon were perfect though. The pancake was filling and tasty. The latte was surprisingly large haha but I definitely enjoyed it.

Google
J Christopher’s is without a doubt, a top tier Atlanta brunch spot. The food here is incredible and you can have a great meal without spending too much. I absolutely recommend the cinnamon swirl pancakes. They come with a gooey cream cheese drizzle on top which is a total game changer. It would be nice to see some more pancake options on the menu. The atmosphere here is very pleasant as well. Lots of cool art on the wall and it feels very homey. Parking is a breeze as there’s a free parking deck that leads straight into the restaurant. Service was fast and efficient and the staff was super friendly. I’m definitely going to make this a regular brunch spot!

I went here for the first time after the Peachtree Road Race. Service was fast and the food was really good. They were busy but, the way they took care of us, made me feel as though we were their only customers. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Clean restaurant, friendly staff and great food!! We definitely recommend we had the spinach egg white skillet and southwest omelette both were big in size the breakfast potatoes were amazing!!

Yelp
Just moved into ATL and decided to try it out, and was more than pleasantly surprised by the food and service! Had a great meal with everything brought out super fast. Tons of great artwork and overall an amazing environment for breakfast/brunch. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Breakfast potatoes were delicious. They cooked my eggs to perfection just the way I liked it. Lots of food. Well worth the fee and wait

Yelp
Great selection of breakfast items Excellent service Food came out hot Nice setting, interesting art work hanging in the dining room.

Yelp
We had the most amazing experience. We showed before the brunch rush and were seated outside on a gorgeous day. Our server Josi was phenomenal and attentive. He's only here for the summer but if you go and he's waiting on your table, you'll be set. We ordered a goddess omelette and just bubba. The food came out expeditiously! The freshly squeezed grapefruit was tasted! We loved this little brunch place and are happy we gave it a try despite some unfavorable reviews. Thanks Josiah!

Dan S.

Yelp
Food is fine. Service is consistently not great. I have been coming to this location for over ten years and it's been far better in the past. Friendliness is pretty low. Today when I came in, I sat in maple syrup spilled on the seat and there was very little care or concern.
google avatar

DeRoyce R.

Yelp
It's honestly in a great location and has free parking in the garage behind the building which is rare in midtown. The scrambled eggs had absolutely no taste and the French toast was a bit runny in the middle. They had other food but I wanted to try the breakfast which was a mistake.

Yelp
Great food and service. We came in on Saturday morning, got seated right away, and the staff were pleasant. We had the eggs benedict, BELT sandwich, and the pancakes. Large portion sizes and definitely a great value. Food came out fast and everything was delicious. I loved the hollandaise sauce on the benedict and my husband said the pancakes were some of the best he's had. Would definitely come by again if we visit the Midtown area in the future.

Yelp
Great breakfast in downtown Atlanta. Easy to get to, fast friendly service. Highly recommend. Eggs Benedict was delicious and grits came out perfect!
google avatar

LeBain L.

Yelp
Good basic breakfast, brunch, or lunch spot (not open for dinner). A little bit of outdoor seating if you have a dog. I love their scrambles & skillets. Their eggs benedict is good too. They serve espresso drinks too.

Lynn C.

Yelp
My husband and I have enjoyed everything we've had so far, with the exception of the crepes. Their crepes are thin omelettes, not thin pancakes.
google avatar

Rodney M.

Yelp
Nothing special, I ordered corned beef hash it was served over hash browns with eggs overtop. The corned beef I believe came from a can cooked and put over chopped potatoes with no seasonings and two eggs, something I most definitely could have made at home. As a matter of fact I've made better. Not from a can. I also ordered cheese grits which had no cheese or flavorings. They could and should do better.

Steve M.

Yelp
Can't add much more than the other negative reviews. Walk in, no greeting, sit down, wait for 20 minutes, leave. Nobody cares.

Jeff M.

Yelp
Just tried to stop in for breakfast. No one was at the front to help for seating. I finally tracked someone down to ask if I was supposed to seat myself. He said how many, I said one, and he said yes. I sat down at a table without a menu (no idea where to get one) and 5 minutes later I was still just sitting there. They must be short staffed but I ended up just leaving.

Yelp
I had a chance to go while waiting for my appointment. Menu is big ! It was hard for me to pick what I got. It was nice service. My food came out so quick. I ordered Huevos Avacdo and some delicious pancakes. This place has a huge menu to satisfy anybody. I would recommend this place to anybody who is in downtown area!

Yelp
Breakfast under quarantine.... between being super busy from work and life @ubereats makes remembering to eat super easy Today's breakfast Cup of fruit (4.29) Strawberry waffle (8.99)with real maple syrup (1.79) Veggie delight omelette with potatoes (10.29) Not badly priced. Everything was good except the potatoes that came with the omelette... kind of dry and wish they were seasoned. Would not order the potatoes again but everything else ? YES ! I recommend

Heldanna S.

Yelp
The food was pretty good, but not extremely impressive or anything. I added an extra star because our waitress went above and beyond with her kindness while serving us, and I appreciated that.
google avatar

Desira S.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my blueberry crunch cakes and cinnamon roll! I had the granola on the side so it wouldn't get soggy. The short stack of pancakes comes 2 to an order and it was more than enough. The cinnamon roll was to die for. Definitely, multiple servings from one meal. My date had the Maple French Toast and really enjoyed his meal. I loved the small bottles of real maple syrup! What a nice touch. I look forward to my next breakfast rendezvous at J. Christopher's.

Yelp
Honestly, the place could be a little bit better. I'll start with the good things about the place though. Overall, the restaurant is very open, spacious with lots of seating areas for customers (I notice there's a downstairs and an upstairs), pretty clean, and the waiters/waitresses and friendly (prompt with drinks, asks how things are going, etc.). What I didn't like about it was the food (which is the bigger aspect of things in a restaurant). My boyfriend and I both ordered a Western Omelet - it comes with potatoes and an English muffin. Wasn't a big fan of the omelet, the texture of the thing definitely felt like it was made from powdered or pre-mixed egg cartons instead of actual eggs. Omelet was also a little bit too salty for me (between the ham and something in the eggs). Potatoes were a little dry but they were good overall and helped counteract the salty eggs. English muffin was dry like usual, they give you a generous offering of jam on the side. Because the place is in the city, there isn't really anywhere you can park besides the street. Also, prices are pretty average (about $10 for an omelet).

Yelp
Happy 4th Atlanta! Just want to thank everyone for great service this morning after the Peachtree Race. I am sure you all set out each day to do your best, Well I am glad to say you did it today. I was impressed by Trevion at the front of the house! Great job Sir! Keep doing a wonderful job greeting and seating your customers! To the Manager, thanks for making sure food orders were out promptly, and thanks Charlotte for working as if you didn't have a boot on your foot! You all rocked it today! We will be back! Andrea

Yelp
Arrived at 11:15am. There were no customers outside or inside the restaurant. I live in the neighborhood and had my dog with me and wanted to sit outside and have brunch. They refused to allow me to sit outside. It was clear and 75°. Remember, they had no customers inside or outside at the time and they refused to seat me. It was totally unexplainable. I don't fight with ignorant people or try to argue with them so I just left. The key here is I will never return with or without my dog. And actually, the food is just regular. It is not known to be anything special but it is known to be a place you can just get a breakfast you could've made it home made for you. That's all.
google avatar

Tiffany H.

Yelp
Decent place to grab a bite. It's located in a great area. The staff are welcoming and friendly. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They also have upstairs and downstairs seating. There is a small wait area in the front. There is street parking if you are able to snag a spot. It's on a street with several shops near by. The food was good. It was able to meet the need of hunger. They have a simple menu where you can get your traditional breakfast items. There aren't any staple food items to try. The restrooms were clean. Atlanta has good food why settle for just okay. Hope they can update the menu in this market.

Yelp
I want this place to win, but it always misses the mark. The last three times I've been there, I keep hoping the next time will finally be better. But alas, I'm just a slow learner. The only real reason to go is their blueberry crunchcakes - pancakes with blueberries and granola. If you don't want crunchcakes and enjoy just being made to feel like you're bothering them, then this is the place for you! Let me tell ya, the staff is PISSED you decided to interrupt their day. The service is almost always abysmal, but today we sat for a long time before we were even acknowledged; the restaurant was over 1/2 empty, no reason for it to take that long. The food came: eggs, hash browns, bacon and an English muffin - all completely forgettable. Am I the fool for thinking the English muffin would have been toasted or at least warm? Maybe so. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else! The Silver Skillet will make you feel like going to grandmas!

Yelp
Always wanted to try this place and finally had the opportunity! It was well worth the wait. I had the San Bernadino omelette, with potatoes, English muffin and then a side of grits. It was fabulous. Everything was perfectly made and at great temperature. And I only waited about 10 minutes from ordering and the restaurant was half full. For coffee they give you a coffee pot (like IHOP). I did have to wait for my waiter to refill my water for over 10 minutes so that was the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. The paintings they have all over the restaurant are really cool looking. From athletes, to Presidents, to office settings and even a full portrait of puppies! Def worth the visit and will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Very COVID safe! I enjoyed my breakfast here. Had a pot of black coffee, chocolate chip pancakes and Christopher's benedict. Very filling. I enjoyed it. It was a short walk from the hotel across the street. Service was decent, very sweet people. Definitely want to come back and try that cinnamon roll that came highly recommended!
google avatar

Holly W.

Yelp
Went for late breakfast, they weren't busy, we were greeted promptly and seated fairly quickly. Service was little slow and strange, coffee was Luke warm but the food was really good. We usually limit ourselves on carbs but splurged on the pancakes. The pumpkin and regular pancakes were great. I'm willing to concede service issues May be short or limited staffed due to Covid so can be forgiving. The servers were nice
google avatar

Yelp
Liked / Liked / Liked / Liked / Liked / Liked Christopher's Benedict; was tasty! The hollandaise was buttery and creamy. They use both ham/ bacon and tomato.. yum Fast in and out brunch Disliked - Disliked - Disliked - Disliked - Disliked Not more outside seating Simple menu; that's just a personal preference I like really creative breakfast/brunch items.

Yelp
I visited J. Christopher's on a Sunday morning/afternoon expecting there to be a wait. Fortunately, my friend and I were sat immediately but we did wait some time for a server to greet us. I ordered the goddess omelet which is an egg white omelette with feta cheese, spinach, and tomatoes. This includes one side and a piece of bread. My friend order a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled eggs and grits. The food came in a reasonable amount of time ~ less than 15 minutes. Everything tasted great. My only note is that I wish my omelette had more of the toppings inside. I guess I like my omelettes on the stuffed side and this did not have much feta at all. I also asked for my potatoes to be cooked well done and I don't believe they were. No big deal.

William M.

Yelp
I've been to the Canton J Christopher's a couple of times now. I like the woodstock location very much and was excited to have a closer option. Unfortunately I have been very disappointed with the Canton operation. Service is slow, although they have a ton of wait staff standing around doing nothing. Food is at best "OK". Coffee is some of the worst I have had in a long time. Very bitter and acidic. Reminds me of something that had been sitting in a pot all day, although I was there at roughly 830 AM. Management issue? Maybe. I just know it's not going to be one of my go-to places for a quick informal meal.
google avatar

Tamira M.

Yelp
Who knew it would be so challenging to find a restaurant in Midtown for a 9 AM breakfast meeting?! Well J. Christopher's saved the day! All the other nearby places seem to open at 10 or 11 am. I made it simple & got the Traditional breakfast-2 eggs, bacon, potatoes, & I substituted the English Muffin for wheat toast. Was a good place for a breakfast meeting on a Friday. Menu has healthy options too. Prices are reasonable. There's a parking garage for customers, but I did not realize this so I parked at a meter around the corner.
google avatar

Sheri S.

Yelp
Great place to get breakfast on a patio in Atlanta. Menu is great... service is slow.
google avatar

Vinita G.

Yelp
Not a good experience. Food came out cold, coffees came out cold. Server was not attentive. My friend ordered a sausage and gravy skillet. It came out with NO gravy. She flagged down the server and asked where the gravy was, server replied oh it's in there, it's probably at the bottom. My friend moved the skillet contents around to show that the skillet base was also dry (no gravy) and the server wouldn't admit they had forgotten or messed up, instead she said "oh I can get u more gravy if u want more." And she brought out some gravy in a small dish. -_- Also we asked for condiments and she forgot to bring them out. It was just not a good experience. First time eating at a J Christopher's, would not go back. We were only there because the wait at Sweet Melissa's was too long. The place is crowded/uncomfortable seating and it's very loud.

F C.

Yelp
The customer service here is horrible. Waited for 20 minutes and never was greeted. The manager Ivonne Cuesta was the on duty manager and when I told her I've been waiting for 20 minutes and haven't been greeted yet, her response was " it's only two of us". She walked past me about five times and continued to serve everyone else. She was rude and obnoxious. I wouldn't recommend going here, especially if your day started off bad.
google avatar

Opal T.

Yelp
Pretty typical diner type food. I've never sat down and eaten inside, so I can only review from an UberEats perspective. Orders are accurate and on time. Food arrives warm, but sometimes it lacks flavor. Or the sandwiches would arrive falling apart or skimpy on the ingredients. Now I usually order breakfast, and it's almost always delicious.
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
An excellent brunch selection at reasonable prices and friendly service. I rarely rate chain restaurants, but must say not being from the area I would not have had any clue it was a chain. The midtown location was clean, well sized, and had plenty of outdoor seating. I recommend it as a low-cost brunch option.
google avatar

Maria S.

Yelp
Stick with the breakfast menu, and you should enjoy your J. Christopher's experience. Sure, it's just breakfast, but they know how to cook eggs to order, as evidenced by a recent trip with out of town guests. Our table ran the gamut from sunny-side-up to over easy, over medium and over hard. All eggs were cooked to everyone's satisfaction. I usually prefer to order a custom egg white omelet -- turkey, spinach, mushroom and feta -- but for a Sunday brunch splurge, the "Route 66" hit the spot. (Just don't tell me how much sodium and calories I consumed. I'm still in denial.) Service is very friendly, but not always efficient. Waiting for coffee at a breakfast place is frustrating. And paying an extra $1.50 for a tiny container of real maple syrup feels like a rip-off. And then there's those garish wall hangings. (I cannot call it art.) But those are minor nits, and I'd rather eat here than spend my Sunday morning waiting in line at the Flying Biscuit.
google avatar

Davena M.

Yelp
It's pretty hard to lose when you have free parking available. Went with some colleagues for breakfast/lunch (no. not brunch.) It didn't take long for them to seat our party of 3. Had no complaints about service. I ordered the steak and eggs with potatoes and waffle. Everything was good and the meal was filling. I would go back.

Yelp
FABULOUS SERVICE ! This breakfast / lunch restaurant was a ton of fun with it's quirky art up on the walls. My wife and I had breakfast here while on vacation in Atlanta, GA a couple of years ago. It was just a 5 minute walk from our rental apartment in Peachtree Towers Condominiums. We looked up the reviews for this place and they were pretty good. After having lattes at a coffee shop ( no food ) around the corner we strolled in here about 10am on a Thursday. A young hostess showed us to a booth table along the wall and soon after a very personable server named Mesha came by to take our order. My wife ordered the American Breakfast with scrambled eggs + a bowl of fresh fruit while I chose the same deal with hard poached eggs. I also requested a glass of fresh orange juice. Our meals arrived in next to no time even though our server Mesha was looking after a lot of tables by herself. Everything tasted even better than we expected. The service, the food and the wonderful colorful interior made our breakfast visit here fantastic ! Oh and we found out they do serve cappuccinos and lattes here too. We came back 2 days later and sat at a booth table in Mesha's service zone so we could be spoiled again. HARD TO BEAT !

Yelp
I have been coming to this J Christopher since I was in college. It was a location where you could take your parents or people from out of town to and know they were going to get good food and good service. Unfortunately that has completely changed. When we arrived at the location it was moderately busy but there was no wait. I was entertaining guests from out of town and they wanted to eat brunch. We were seated around 1115. We were immediately seated and the waitress came and took our drink orders. The whole table got water and coffee. From there we ordered food and proceeded to wait for over 50 minutes for the food to arrive. I ordered a sizzler which is served on a cast iron skillet. It supposed to come out hot and when my food finally came out it was barely warm. I ordered it with two sunny side up eggs and the eggs came out scrambled. I have not been so embarrassed by a restaurant in a long time. This is an Atlanta staple but at this point I will not be recommending this restaurant to any of colleagues at this time. They didn't even have the decency to comp my meal after all of this. I would rather go to Waffle House at this point.
google avatar

Tisha J.

Yelp
The food was not good. Waffle House or iHop would have been a better, cheaper option. I mean the pancakes had no flavor. My brother refused to taste his turkey bacon cause it was so visually unappealing. Waste of $40 for two people.
google avatar

Yelp
Staying at the renaissance for couple of months. So I get the chance to explore all the places near by. I figured this would be the go to place for my stay. Food is ok but overpriced for what it is. They are proud of their pancakes I guess. 1 pancake, 2 eggs and potatos and a cup of coffee comes out to $15 something. Honestly it's not worth it for the money.
google avatar

Apryl K.

Yelp
Richard is phenomenal and no matter which host/hostess I get I am always satisfied with the service. This is the best location in my opinion and the food is always hot and served quick. Richard thank you for today and keep up the outstanding work.

Yelp
Got the crepes and French toast and they were amazing. Bacon was crisp and eggs were cooked just right. Service was very friendly.

Yelp
Good breakfast & lunch for our group of 10. Fresh prepared and flavorful, all lunch and breakfast items. Many creative offerings alond with the great to eat farm style favorites. Artistic urban look makes a whimsical settinv.

Yelp
J Christopher is no exception to the pathetic, sad restaurant customer service in Midtown Atlanta. Multiple times I have walked in the door looking for a late breakfast, knowing they stop serving at 130 - but been declined even a few minutes after 1 because no body wants to work, nobody wants to make eye contact with their customers, nobody want to do their job. I would be embarrassed to have a staff like the servers at J Christophers in Midtown. Send your workers home to the couch where they want to be. I will say, the chefs have always given be a quick and delicious meal - as they are real, genuine workers.

Geoffrey K.

Yelp
Food and service were both outstanding! I could've used more blueberries in my blueberry pancakes, that's my only little complaint . Their fall specials are quite intriguing. My mom had the apple stuffed French toast. AMAZING!
