View you never knew. The view from here is absolutely spectacular. It was unlike anything I had experienced before—standing in the shade while watching sunlight fall across the landscape in shifting tones and patterns that seemed to change by the minute. The presence of the water creates an almost surreal sensation, as if you’re floating or sailing. What makes it even more fascinating is the unique blend of natural beauty and modern architecture coming together in perfect harmony. This breathtaking sight lasts for about a 30-minute window, though I’m not sure if it’s visible every day throughout the year.

While exploring the waterfront near Exchange Place, we stumbled upon J. Owen Grundy Park, and it turned out to be a delightful surprise. This charming boardwalk park offers breathtaking views of the Lower Manhattan skyline, including landmarks like One World Trade Center. The panoramic vistas across the Hudson River are truly mesmerizing, especially during sunset when the city lights begin to twinkle. The park features wooden planks, shaded seating areas, and open spaces, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll, a peaceful moment of reflection, or capturing stunning photographs. It’s a serene escape from the hustle and bustle, providing a perfect vantage point to appreciate the beauty of New York City from across the river. Conveniently located near the Exchange Place PATH station, it’s easily accessible for both locals and visitors. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to relax or a scenic backdrop for your photos, J. Owen Grundy Park is a must-visit spot in Jersey City.

If you want amazing skyline views, COME HERE! Grundy Park is easily the most underrated spot in the tri-state area. The views of Downtown (and Midtown in the distance) across the Hudson are simply spectacular. You can walk along the promenade, admire some art, and admire the view from the many covered/uncovered benches. It's also easy to get to; just take the PATH to Exchange Place or the ferry to Paulus Hook.

Exchange Place neighborhood serves as a bustling financial district with a mix of modern skyscrapers and historic buildings. The area offers a variety of dining options, coffee shops, and retail stores. A scenic walkway along the waterfront provides stunning views of the Hudson River and New York City skyline. To Summarize Whether you're seeking a tranquil spot to unwind or a vibrant area to explore, J. Owen Grundy Park and the Exchange Place neighborhood offer a unique blend of natural beauty and urban convenience. Their close proximity to New York City makes them must-visit destinations for both residents and visitors.

J. Owen Grundy Park is one of Jersey City’s best-kept gems for scenic views and peaceful moments by the water. Nestled right along the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway, this small but beautifully maintained park offers unmatched panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline, especially lower Manhattan, the Freedom Tower, and the Statue of Liberty. I visited here sunrise, sunset and during the night, and the experience is always magical. The New York City skyline glowing during golden hour is absolutely mesmerizing. The wooden boardwalk, vintage-style lampposts, and waterfront benches add a charming touch that makes it a great spot for a relaxing stroll, date night, or quiet reflection. There are often live music performances or small community events happening in the evenings during summer months, which really bring the park to life. It’s also a great spot for photography lovers — day or night, every angle offers a postcard-worthy shot. 🚶‍♂️ Accessibility: Very walkable and wheelchair-friendly. Located just minutes from the PATH station, making it super convenient for NYC visitors or locals. 🧺 Amenities: Benches, gazebo, beautiful open pier, and great spots for picnics or lounging. 📸 Best for: Photoshoots, quiet time, catching the skyline views, or enjoying a romantic evening. Pro Tips: • Visit around sunset or at night for the best skyline views. • Bring a light jacket — it gets breezy by the water. • Great coffee shops and restaurants are nearby along the Hudson River Walkway and Exchange Place area. Overall, J. Owen Grundy Park is a perfect blend of serenity, skyline, and community vibe. Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike!

Google
Beautiful park in Jersey City right next to the Exchange Place PATH station to World Trade Center. Here, you can see New York City from Jersey City and the Hudson River that separates the 2. I go here sometimes when the weather is good to either read a book or just sit and relax.

A great little playground next to the entrance to the exchange place. A great break for children and parents taking the PATH. Typically very busy in the afternoon.

Yelp
This small park on the Hudson River in Jersey City, NJ is a great place to view Manhattan. Located next to the PATH train, it is the first place to go to for the views.

Yelp
What a beautiful tiny park that's right off the Hudson across from Manhattan! This place is really impressive with the monuments and the seating areas and how clean it is. It's nice to come here at lunch and just take it all In!

Yelp
Small, but clean, and with superb views of Manhattan, this lovely little park deserves a visit by all of us on the other side of the Hudson. If you, like me, are used to gazing at the iconic Colgate clock from Battery Park, come to this side and see it up close and personal! It's an easy and relaxing walk up and down this part of the Hudson river waterway, probably only 20 minutes back and forth. There's seating for you to feast your eyes on the NY skyline and even shelter from the sun should you chose. There are somber parts too, to the park. There's a small 9/11 memorial and a huge statue, the Katyn Memorial. This 34 foot statue was designed by a Polish immigrant who emigrated to the US and was a Jersey City factory worker. He memorialized the 1940 killing of 20,000 Polish POW's in 1940 by the Soviets with this enormous sculpture of a bound soldier stabbed in the back by a bayonet. This park is only minutes away from the Path, the Exchange Place station. If you head to the historic district from the park, you are only a short walk from better eateries than the few by the park that cater more to the lunch crowd. I only subtracted one star because I didn't notice a bathroom. Yelpers, If you know where one exists, give me a Yelp!

Yelp
Grundy Park is a great place to walk along the Hudson River because you get amazing views of lower Manhattan. Being on the water, it always feels so calm and relaxed. There are benches all along the boardwalk/walkway and tables on the pier close to the Hyatt. It is easy to get here by public transportation; the the PATH station is right there. Because right smack by the PATH and the financial area, there's a diverse crowd here. You'll see business people here walking during their breaks or grabbing lunch at the food trucks, local residents who jog or walk their dogs here, PokémonGO players, etc. There are coffee spots and other places to pick up a bite close by, too. It's a great place to take a stroll anytime of the day. It's pretty safe and you can do night walks with no problems. This is one of my favorite places!

Yelp
Located in Jersey City is a boardwalk park that sits by PATH Train's Exchange Place adjacent to the Hyatt Hotel is a nice boardwalk. Benches with umbrellas are ample to intake the serene and mellifluous sound of the wave crashing against the sea wall. The view from Jersey City onwards to Downtown Manhattan is visible and a sweet delight welcoming out of the New York State of mind. It also distance nearby NJ Light Rail System. The J. Owen Grundy Park also serves as a critical meeting point for gatherings dispersing outward into New Jersey State. The lack of food options is visible upon arriving by PATH directly from Manhattan, New York as I grit for the whole morning into the afternoon. N.B. Outdoor lovers ensure protection from the harmful sun with SPF 40+ sunscreen.

Yelp
Amazing place. 1) The view of the Financial district of NYC is just fantastic. 2) The Katyń Memorial is very pretty, however, it is dedicated to the Katyń massacre of Polish nationals by the Soviets. 3) Plus the Colgate Clock is very pretty.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning views. Especially for a special event or just somewhere to enjoy some coffee. They have a gazebo, tables for a group and tables for two. Some of their tables have chest/checker tops to play a game while enjoying the view (you would have to bring your own playing pieces). There are two ferry's locations Paulus Hook and Harbor side (the company is NY waterway). They are both a 7-10 minute walk from J. Owen park. They also have a Exchange Place station located directly in front of the park if you do not want to take a ferry into the city. It's well maintained, there wasn't any trash and the area was very clean. The only thing I would say is there is only a small selection of coffee shops and places to eats. So I would recommend looking around the area and grabbing something before you lounge around the park. Over all I really enjoyed J. Owen park in Jersey City.

Yelp
I've never known the name of the park, just as "Exchange Place." Lovely views plus a walkway. Even in the winter, people at the waterfront. Tables and chairs (bolted down). I don't think there are any public facilities. Take public transportation, Path or Light Rail or ferry. What's not to like! I am sure that during the work week, food trucks are out and there are indoor eateries and outdoor tables at the nearby office building which name just eludes me at this moment. There's a rooftop bar at the Hyatt Recency, 1 Exchange Place. Enjoy!

Yelp
This is a very nice Pier, good seating, well lit, nice crowd of people. Amazing view of the Freedom Tower and of lower Manhattan, especially at sunset time.

Yelp
Absolutely love it. I have come here a few times during the weekends to relax. There is a lot of seating available and even a canopy-covered section. The park is very clean with tons of solar-powered garbage cans!!! The view is phenomenal. I can only imagine what it would be like once the Freedom Tower is completely finished and lit up. The weekends are great because there is a fair amount of parking available within a few blocks. A lot of the offices down there are closed during the weekends so it really is a pleasure to relax there. I'd imagine a lot of crowds are further north in the Hoboken area. There is also a Starbucks near there, right at the base of the park.

Yelp
Even with a gray-filled overcast sky, this is a good place to people watch, whether they are conversing or fishing, view the breathtaking urban landscape that is called lower Manhattan or follow the boats floating along the Hudson River, and/or just take a break from the busyness of city living or from the sun-drenched rays. A couple other things that make it so significant is One World Trade Center/Freedom Tower has been completed (since last May) so we can see it from where we are, and the 4th of July weekend is days away in which we can celebrate America's independence. This will be a great time to be at the park. You can grab a coffee, lunch or a cup of ice cream on any warm day and relax.

Yelp
Very Nice!! Completely redone after the Sandy storm. Excellent view of lower manhattan

Yelp
Not a green space as such, but a spacious pier with boardwalks and benches, and a glorious view of lower Manhattan. Plenty space to sit and enjoy the view, with businesses nearby to grab a bite to eat or a coffee whilst you sit and take it in.

Yelp
It may not be a beach but its a great place to relax, smell the salt water, clear your head, get a suntan, spend quality time with your mate, check out the NYC view, get an early morning jog in, etc.
