J. R. Kortman Center for Design

Having walked by their nice window displays, and wanting to check it out, I finally had the pleasure. It is full of wonderful and funky art, and the small pieces are much more affordable than I had been expecting. I highly recommend a visit there!

I had a lovely experience here today. I came in for a tea kettle and left with more! Such a beautiful store and kind owners. This is a Rockford treasure.

It's my go to shop for unique gifts. The proprietor is always helpful and this store NEVER disappoints! Greeting cards to home decor, you will find something to catch your eye here.

Doc and Jerry are local legends and Tim knows how to make some pretty amazing drinks. I've listened to some original poetry here. Had drinks with newspaper men. Hung out with politicians and artists side-by-side. It's a wonderful spot and that's why it's been there as long as it has. Great experience all around.

Kortman Center for Design is a boutique and gallery that features a broad and ecclectic mix. I appreciate the obvious care that the gallery owners put into curating their collections and offerings. Stop in and find something nice for yourself or a friend.

Unique and often beautiful gifts for others and yourself. You can find Jewelry, house goods, books, cards, artwork, perfume, and more. You will also find an art exhibit on the second floor. This store is a jewel.

Great shop filled with all sorts of fun modern art and modern design! The owner is a fantastic gift wrapper too. Everything from jewelry, plates and spoons to kikkerland products. Oh- there's a gallery upstairs too!

If you enjoy paying exorbitant prices for unique items, this is your store. The owners are very zealous about wearing masks and according to one of them, people who don't are what make things bad. If you agree with this then by all means visit the store.

One of the few surviving shops in downtown Rockford, IL. They usually have a great selection of arty stuff to buy and very reasonable prices. The owners are fabulous as well, very friendly and always willing to help you shop for a special gift. Their wrapping paper jobs are fantastic as well. There's a gallery upstairs too, which they have really fun opens at as well. Aces!!

My friends and I went to J R Kortman's, on a downtown adventure. We had a great time looking at the cool decor and organ art books. The owner was very nice. The store had a fun vibe with hip music and bright colors. I felt very relaxed and welcome in this store. They have a table upstairs for chilling. I will definitely be going back to buy some fabulous art.

From quirky to elegant one can ALWAYS find a gift -- even at the last minute. Great supply of cards and even select bottles of wine. You don't even need to worry about wrapping because Kortman's will wrap your gift on the spot! The gallery upstairs has continuous art shows -- always fresh. Kortman's hosts a gallery night the first Friday of each month and for show openings as well as other special times. Always friendly and helpful.

Very friendly and helpful owners and staff! Very unique merchandise. Especially great for gift giving. Items for fun, cooking, decorating, jewelery, cards, etc. all there. Price ranges for all wallet sizes as you move around the store. Art gallery upstairs but not anything I need.
