J San hits the spot! Stumbled across this place on Uber Eats last year, and I keep finding myself ordering every month.
I'm a big fan of their Deluxe Chirashidon and I've never been disappointed yet with the variety and freshness of the offerings. To date, I've seen a familiar rotation of sweet shrimp, tamago, hamachi, uni, salmon belly, salmon roe, and scallop, alongside the staples of salmon, tuna, and octopus. Always a great surprise to see creamy uni or sweet scallops in my box. Tucked underneath the 15 pieces of premium sashimi is a bed of Japanese rice that's perfectly cooked, sprinkled with just enough furikake throughout to give some extra flavour.
I've also tried their normal Chirashidon for $8 less than the Deluxe just to compare the difference, and their Deluxe Sashimi Combo - in my opinion, you're better off with the Deluxe Chirashidon (more bang for your buck). Not sure if I was unlucky with my orders, but the former 2 seem to be quite inconsistent with the quality of the fish. Nothing exciting and screaming at me for repeat orders. I've got no complaints about their torched sushi - simply delicious. Playing some favouritism here, but you guessed it, I still prefer and recommend their Deluxe Chirashidon over anything else.
Some minor comments on their sashimi cuts though - although I enjoy thick cuts, I do wish they would slice certain offerings thinner. Most common is a thick cut of hamachi, where it actually resembles a large chunk rather than a beautiful slice of fish. I also wish the daikon is tucked underneath the cucumber, rather than the other way around - sometimes I don't realize the sashimi is resting against the daikon until I see slight discoloration from the pickling. Just my personal preference.
