"Vegetarian restaurant J. Selby’s is all about playful and innovative takes on fast food and pub food. Try the crunchwrap, made with vegan taco meat and marinated cabbage on a tostada, the fried lions mane mushrooms, or the “Dirty Double,” a double-stacked burger with secret sauce. For dessert, J. Selby’s offers dairy-free shakes and soft-serve and shakes. The Herbivorous Butcher, another local vegan favorite, recently bought J. Selby’s, but has kept the menu largely the same." - Justine Jones, Eater Staff

Google
I chose this place because my friend is a Vegetarian and I'm always down to try stuff. I absolutely loved everything I had here! The crunchwrap was delicious and was actually pretty to look at once it was split open. My friend had Mel's Ranch Wrap and gave his Vegetarian seal of approval! I also ordered a seasonal frostbite which was so good! I like their method of ordering at the counter and then taking your number to your table. All the food came out quickly and the staff was really helpful to me and my naivety with plant-based foods. They have Happy Hour specials Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between 3 and 6pm. The people around us also recommended the brunch served here! Will definitely come back!

Finally made it to this place. Been in my list of " want to go to's "! It was pretty nice. The atmosphere was inviting. The order options are QR code at the tables or with a person at the counter. They have a pretty big choice of entrees, and appetizers. I had the community bowl. Nice flavoring for a rice bowl. The sweet potatoes added a nice touch to the entree. I would return. Oh! For those who are unaware it is one of the places with the service charge for the wellness of all employees so do NOT be too shocked by the 15% increase on the bill. They do have a very nice sign that is posted by the register at the counter and it does specify it on the website as well. The only thing I would say is a bit like WTH is that when ordering online, it has this option that says you will be charges a temporary hold with a open tab. So if a person is NOT ok with that I would say order with the person otherwise I would return. Great food. Great service. Great signage again so a person is NOT surprised and the parking can be a bit hectic because of the location but get some great walking exercise for before or after dinner getting from and to car. 😃😃😃😃

Google
J. Selby’s is an incredible place. In these photos I had an vegan Oreo cookie ice cream which is absolutely incredible but not better than the Reese‘s pieces ice cream can’t wait until they bring that back. The other is the community bowl with crunchy delicious tofu. Very filling very delicious. As a person who is dairy and gluten free I stock up on deserts as well. So many great ones to choose from.

Google
J. Selby’s has a really good concept, take all the foods we love, and make them taste just as good, without the use of meat or meat products. Everything tasted delicious and we will keep coming back, because the menu has something for everyone. The staff are always pleasant too. See pics and video.

Google
Amazing comfort food and so many options, each better than the last. Highly recommend the BLT and the steak sandwich. Extremely flavourful. Animal fries are to die for, had to go back twice in one day just to have them again

Google
I can’t express how lucky I am someone recommended this place to me. In town from chicago and newly (mostly) eating plant based. Who knew their Crunchwrap supreme would be better than the T Bell original?! Their version of a DQ blizzard is also incredible—had the cookie dough one. My biggest regret is that I don’t live in Minnesota and I can’t eat here everyday. An easy and much deserved 5 stars. Can’t wait to go back!

Google
Scrumptious vegan take on American fast food fare favorites. In this tradition the flavors are typical and a bit on the mild side. Very kid friendly as it’s clean, quick and casual. Worth the visit! Loving the built in gratuity at check out!

Google
First time going to an official vegan place! Went with a large group and everyone enjoyed their food. The crunch wrap got a lot of praise, as well as their coffee shakes. Animal fries were a hit.

Yelp
I heard J. Shelby's is usually very crowded, but we hit a storm and it was orderly quiet and pleasant on a Saturday early afternoon, which could be very rare. Anyway, I can always choose a rainy day to come here to avoid crowd as all plant-based choices will always put my mind at ease. Although we went for the party food, the salad and bowls looked very enticing on other tables and will be on the bucket list for next time. We had steak sandwich and gyro, both made with savory soy curls, a bit on greasy side, but delicious. Love the minimalist ambiance. Will come back for more.

Yelp
My husband thought we would try this place because our daughter was going to take him there for his birthday, but they weren't open on Mondays. I'm not whole grain/plant based, they are. So I was like ugh...no flavor. We went in and while we waited, we ordered the lemon lavender spritz and the peach green tea spritz. The lemon was great. Nice fizz, loved the tart and right amount of sweet! The peach was fizz "less". They say it had a touch of fizz, but...we tasted zero. We got our food to go, so he came home and added some Perrier water to his. Didn't help. Anyhoo... The cheese sauce was impressive! The sauce made the smothered burrito delicious. He wanted me to try it first and I didn't read the ingredients. I just knew the more trees and berries, he would get it(eye roll). He said he wanted to share it with me. So I took my bite and I was very surprised! Lots of texture in my mouth which I usually don't like. But it was good. He pointed out the seitan and I told him I thought it was meat. I had no clue! He said that's not meat. I thought when he was reading the menu to me and he was saying burgers and chicken, it was burgers and chicken. I didn't realize it was a vegan restaurant. Fooled me. I would definitely go and eat there again!!!

Yelp
I'm not Vegan but I can't have much dairy. And I certainly can't have a traditional milkshake or malt. I have tried so many dairy free ice creams over the years, both from the grocery store and out and about. And none of them have satisfied. This was the best milkshake I've had in years and years. There were so many different varieties, all plant based. And the best part is that you honestly couldn't tell. It just tasted like a normal milkshake. It was the best ever. Even my husband who doesn't get dairy free things normally really loved his shake and thought it tasted great. The service was good, the space was nice and open and clean and the area is great. I can't wait to go back here.

Anna H.

Yelp
The ambiance was pretty nice, lots of seating for smaller and large groups. The menu is pretty intensive from sandwiches to burgers to desserts, love how everything is vegan. I'm not personally vegan and thought the brunch wrap was okay, the fries were the best part. However, the bathroom floors were quite sticky.

Yelp
My vegan friend brought me to J. Selby's for a quick bite to eat for lunch after a busy day of errands, and I loved it! This is such a cute gem, very vintage diner feel with revamped food. We definitely came in right after the Saturday lunch rush. I ordered the Harvest Bowl with Tofu and shared a chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was delicious, a little more on the doughy side but I like it that way. The harvest bowl was delicious - I think about it constantly. All the flavors were so balanced and comforting, plus the tempura batter on the tofu was delicious! Service was pretty fast for a lunch rush, I would definitely come back and dine in or carry out!

Yelp
What a fun place! My partner and I stopped in as this place has been on our to-visit list for a little bit now and we loved the experience. Ordering is cafeteria style where you read a handheld menu and order up front before sitting down and the food is brought to you. Service was friendly and food came out quite fast. The highlight for us was the salted caramel and peanut butter shake - so amazingly delicious with just the right amount of salt to counteract the sweet. We also ordered the buffalo chicken wrap (excellent - we took half home and it reheated well too!), the animal style fries (definitely would get again, very similar to an in and out fry basket but even better) and a side of chili (this was the low point for us - almost no broth in our bowl which made it difficult to eat and a bit of an unpleasant texture but the flavor was still good). The prices were a little higher than we normally would like but it makes sense given the more exclusive ingredients and home cooking. We will definitely visit again, it was surprisingly quiet and empty when we visited and had a great view out to the street from the barstool style table we sat at. Hope they continue to get more business, a great local place!

Yelp
Came here for lunch and tried the milkshake egg nog flavor as well as the Cesar salad with mushroom locally picked. I paid about $27 for two items which is incredibly steep for vegan dishes. I know it's plant based but that's still pricey. The establishment is large and can be used to study or hangout at. Big enough to have a friend gathering. The Caesar salad with mushroom was alright but the dressing used gave me a headache after 4 bites. Maybe too much soy in it - not certain but it didn't agree with me. It was a very large salad to say the least. The egg nog was the best out of the two items. Not too sweet - it was the perfect amount. I'd be inclined to return and try another dish on the menu should I visit Minneapolis again.

Nicole T.

Yelp
With not a lot of vegan restaurants in Minnesota I am SO happy this spot is here. I've gotten a few different meals but my favorite is the burger. It's on a super cute street and we went for a little walk after dinner. Parking was easy. The service was incredible. I love it here !!

Nicki K.

Yelp
Carryout order went very smoothly, love that most of the containers were compostable. Inside looked spacious and possibly noisy during dinner hour since there's a partially open kitchen. Would definitely go to this place again. We wanted to try a variety of things, since it was our first time there and everything is made vegan. Buffalo Chickin wrap $14.00 -- 10/10 my partner LOVED the wrap. He said 10/10 DELICIOUS and would *definitely* do again. Fairly standard spicy level for Buffalo sauce. Side of French fries-- 8/10 would do again. We both liked the fries a lot. They have a slight seasoning to them. Chickin sandwich $15.00 -- 7/10 would do again. Mild taste and texture. The texture is a little more chicken-y than like.. a nugget. So on a spectrum of chicken nugget to chicken breast, it's slightly left of center (leaning more chicken nugget texture) Side of Potato salad side -- 6/10 This isn't the yellow potato salad most people think of, it's like the slightly fancier red potato and dill type salad. It's got "bacon" pieces on top. The potatoes felt a little too hard/undercooked and the flavor was a little too mild. Not our favorite type of potato salad, but still decent for what it is. "Wings" (crispy fried cauliflower) $14.00 -- one person withheld a score and one person scored them 4/10. These are served with a side of vegan ranch (the really good kind from herbivorous butcher!) We got it with sweet chili sauce, but because it was to-go the sauce was on the side. Mixed reviews. We both agreed that it's a VERY generous portion of "wings", probably enough for 3-4 people as an app. Way too much for the two of us to eat with entrees as well. We also agreed the "wings" themselves are unseasoned and bland without the sauce. The chili sauce was good, but a little too spicy for me. My Buffalo sauce eating partner loved the chili sauce though. My partner would like to try them at the restaurant when they've been tossed in the sauce already, but I'm not sure it would make much difference for me when the veg+breading is still going to be bland. Because of this my partner is withholding a score. I give it 4/10 because I think even without the sauce covering them, the food should still be a little more seasoned with salt or something. Chocolate cake $6.00 -- 9/10 We both really liked this. The frosting is super light and fluffy, not overly sweet either. The cake itself is not a strong enough chocolate flavor. We both agree it's good, but could be more chocolatey. Peanut butter cornflake bar $5.25 (GF)-- 6/10 The chocolate on top tastes darker than we expected, which was nice, but the peanut butter was overpowered by it, which made it too rich to have more than a few bites. The peanut butter cornflakes themselves were divisive. My partner didn't like the taste. I thought it tasted good, but again, since the chocolate is so dark I wish it was more of the peanut butter cornflakes for a better balance. Fairly big too, enough for 2 or maybe even 3 people given how rich the chocolate is.

Yelp
I can say as a certified non vegan this was the most scrumptious vegan food I've ever had. Service was exceptional. I would recommend the vegan burger

Jessica R.

Yelp
I used to love this place. Haven't been in since Herbivorous Butcher took over, but it is NOT the same. Had the "dirty double" which is supposed to be the "dirty secret" replacement. It is not. Niece had the crispy chicken sandwich, which she's loved for years and she said she wouldn't order it again as it's nowhere near as good as it used to be. Don't get me wrong, everything is still good, but it used to be amazing. I moved out of MN and it was always my first stop when back in town. Considering the prices are still high ($70 for 2 of us) and the quality has gone down, I'm not sure I'll be back. Not even close to what it used to be. Shakes are still great.

Ryann C.

Yelp
So amazing can't be legal . I try to come here often.! It was one of the reasons I moved to Minnesota. I have a pleasant experience every time. I always order to go because I'm on the go but it looks like a really nice place to sit and enjoy your meal. I strongly recommend it & give them high praise

Laura W.

Yelp
It's good for vegan food! The highlight was definitely the tiramisu milkshake! I got the monte Christo, the jam with the sandwich was pretty good! Husband got the tempeh hash which he didn't like. It's a bit expensive.

Dani G.

Yelp
THE BEST VEGAN FOOD IN THE CITIES!! Only ate in once (usually get takeout) and the service was fast! Whether eating in our out the food is amazing! I've tried a few items off the menu and my favs is this "chicken" sandwich + the crunchwrap. The shakes are one of the BEST shakes I've had! The parking could be a little tricky + they have some cute merch available.

Anna T.

Yelp
Ughh the Dirty Secret Burger with Animal Fries were to die for!!! I'm drooling thinking about it. It tasted like a Big Mac only fresher, healthier, and less guilt! I couldn't believe this was all vegan and did not miss the meat whatsoever. You can also get drinks or fun desserts! I opted for a glass of light and crisp rose. Everything came out fast and the place was very cute! By far one of the best vegan places I've ever experienced!

Richard A.

Yelp
So let's start with the great stuff... The fact you can order a plant based cheese burger that looks and mostly tastes like a big Mac, complete with the sesame seed bun and secret sauce, is awesome. The fries were hot and fresh and the peanut dessert bar was phenomenal. My date enjoyed a tofu stir fry and we both found it to be hot and tasty. There is a good variety of menu items, including cookies and desserts and service was timely and friendly. That said, $17 for a burger is excessive and the wait time to get our food was longer-than-expected given the lack of patrons in the restaurant. I will be back, if for no other reason than to order the cookies and i will recommend it to anyone who appreciates a plant based menu.

Mackenzie T.

Yelp
OMG. The food was amazing. The space was so cute, and the staff were very sweet, and helpful! We had 1,000 questions and the person at the register was so sweet to answer them all. I had the fried "chicken" sandwich, and I would have thought was real chicken. Go hungry because the portions are huge. The dairy free shakes are so good.

Jessica S.

Yelp
I'm so happy this 100% vegan restraunt is still around! I know it's not cheap to make vegan food, but I do wish it was a bit more affordable. Service is pretty quick. I wish the atmosphere was a little more cozy but that is a personal preference.

Maggie H.

Yelp
I can't believe I've missed reviewing J. Selby's for so long! I was ecstatic when they were opening and anxiously awaiting their success - I love what they've become! They used to be a go-to place for me and my friend to meet and catch up. I never thought in my life that I would be able to have a juicy lucy so when they came out with their vegan version I was over the moon. I got to have the same mouth burning, molten hot cheese in your mouth experience like every other Minnesotan. Their cauli-wings are good and when we ordered out for my niece and nephew they ate ALL their food! Proud auntie right here. I love, love, love that they support other vegan up and comers and host pop ups and sell Vegan East's goodies. The only item I haven't liked that I always try are their shakes - for some reason the taste has always been off for me, but every time I try one hoping I'll like it, maybe they've improved!

Katelyn A.

Yelp
This is THE vegan restaurant. I can't even begin to describe how good the food is. Even meat-loving skeptics (aka me before I first had their cauliflower wings) can find something to fall in love with. But seriously. The cauliflower wings are life changing. They're listed as an appetizer, but they can be a whole meal on their own. Perfectly crispy, and if you were blindfolded you'd never know you were eating a veggie. The sweet chili wings are a perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Oh, and did I mention that the prices are super affordable? Giant plate of wings -- $11. Crispy "chicken" sandwich with a heaping side -- $14. It seriously doesn't get better than this.

McKenzie S.

Yelp
Ok, I'm not even a vegetarian and I am now craving this food every day. My mom is a vegetarian so I am always trying to find good food for when we go out. This place was perfection. So many delicious options on the menu, I had a hard time choosing. My mom got the gyro and I got the crunch wrap. Plus drinks because they have alcohol y'all. My crunch wrap so damn good. You would have no idea it was vegetarian. My mom's gyro was huge and she finished the whole thing because she couldn't stop. She was so happy and excited to have options that weren't just a black bean burger or salad! I can't wait to come back because I have to try the burger and the wings. I have heard nothing but great things about this place and now I see why!

Meredith K.

Yelp
Soooooooo amazing and phenomenal. One of my favorite vegan places EVER. 10 hundred BILLION stars!!!

Jenae C.

Yelp
The burger was better and had more flavor than most meat burger restaurants. The animal fries were definitely worth the upgrade and were fun to try. There was plenty of seating when we went at lunchtime and not a long wait for food. We're not vegan but will definitely be back to try more items!

Andy A.

Yelp
Anxious to take my granddaughter out, drive from a western suburb of MPLS . Got to the door and a sign said closed until 3 for maintenance. I had called 2 days earlier to ask if I needed reservations if I was coming in Tuesday for lunch. Not a single mention that they weren't going to be open.

Dawn O.

Yelp
I still dream about this place. I visited St. Paul for a very brief time some months ago and had the fortune of eating here with some friends. Places like J. Selby's show how awesome plant-based food can be! I ordered the Crunchwrap and chili cheeze fries with a coffee shake to DIE for. If you're ever ever ever in the area, add J. Selby's to your list and thank me later!

Meaghan K.

Yelp
This place is so cute and modern! It was hard to find a seat it was so busy! I constantly aspire to find new, cool ways to cut meat out of my diet, so this was exciting!! The animal fries were amazing!!!!! We ordered two wraps (Mel's ranch wrap and buffalo chicken wrap) that were both just okay. The mashed potatoes aren't something I would order again, but they had an interesting flavor. I will be returning to try more from the menu soon!

Kara J.

Yelp
Literally amazing vegan plant based food! It was quick, many options, nice customer service and tip is included when you check out which is a more equitable way to pay employees. It has a nice vibe as well! Top 5 cauliflower wings I've ever had. The prices are high but expected for the quality of the place. I am super picky with vegan milkshakes but this one was super yummy!!! The bathroom was also clean. 10/10!

Raj D.

Yelp
Great food.really tasty. Nice staff. We ordered the Gyros. It's definitely awesome. Also fried rice and it was also quite good. Appetizers included plantains. Maybe a bit dryer than I was expecting but tasty.

Lil' Miss B.

Yelp
This was one of our first vegan/plant-based restaurants experiences, and they did not disappoint. We will absolutely be back. The oyster mushroom wings were incredible.

Abhijit B.

Yelp
Awesome place beyond words . Been here four times over the past two months. Really like the ambience and plant based meat menu options . Parking is hard so I have to park a few blocks down the road. Also this pm r closes at 8 pm

Trish L.

Yelp
Holy smokes!! Phenomenal vegan food!! Absolutely loved going to brunch and not having to study a menu just to eat vegan!!

Matt B.

Yelp
You'd never guess it was vegan if you weren't told. I've had almost every item on their menu and have yet to be disappointed. My parents and I went plant-based for health reasons last fall and this place has been an inspiration. I highly recommend their crunch wrap and animal fries! Great comfort food, whether you're vegan or not.

Jessica N.

Yelp
Wow! Being skeptical of the menu (I don't have any dietary requirements or restrictions), I was a bit overwhelmed when choosing my food. I ordered the wings (cauliflower) in sweet chili sauce, fried mushrooms and the buffalo chickin' wrap. Everything was phenomenal and I will definitely be returning to try out other items on the menu. I highly recommend this spot, and for those like me who are concerned about street parking; everything was wide and clear at 11:30AM and even if you have to walk, I am positive it is worth the hike. They also offer a variety of beer/wine/THC beverages if you're into that. The ambiance was a bit noisy but comfortable. You order at the counter and they bring your beverages/food to your table. The service was excellent, but don't expect to be "served" as in a traditional restaurant. It's the best of both worlds. Nobody hassling you to get out and just enough interaction to make your visit worthwhile. Does anyone have any recommendations for other things to try here?

Ava C.

Yelp
I went to J. Selby's on a Wednesday evening with a friend. Neither of us drove here but I noticed that there was a small amount of surrounding street parking. The restaurant itself is airy and clean. The walls are painted with light colors making the environment feel fresh. Upon entering the restaurant you immediately order at the front counter. We decided to split the cauliflower wings and got all the sauces on the side, I ordered the Athena salad, and my friend ordered the fried rice. There was lots of seating available and we chose to sit at a booth after ordering. After receiving our food I chose to try the cauliflower wings first. These were probably the best cauliflower wings I have ever had. They were juicy and not too fried. All the sauces were really nice to dip the wings in. My Athena salad looked nice but lacked flavor and freshness. The tofu was dry and the lettuce was void of color. My friend seemed to enjoy the fried rice but again was a bit bland. Overall, J. Selby's was nice but I am not dying to go back.

Lisa W.

Yelp
The food was great. Love that it was all vegan food. I had the gyros and battered mushrooms. Delicious. Highly recommend!

Katherine L.

Yelp
Doing great business when plant-based is tough, but J. Selby's has it figured out! The number of dishes to choose from and the variety make me so happy! The problem is my belly isn't large enough for everything. French fries here are delicious with a nice flavor with some spices that remind me of Old Bay. Crisp and tasty! Salad is always helpful to balance the fried food intake and they're just as golden here as the fries. Good rich flavor for a Caesar dressing that doesn't make me miss anything from traditional versions. The walnut parm is a nice touch with extra nutrients. They have donuts here! Drool! Infamous cauli wings?! So happy they have them! They have cookies and wraps and burgers- all the standard fare that anyone can enjoy. I like this place for exactly that reason. I was more in the mood for a bowl- and it was fresh and healthy and happy for my soul. Other choices like noodle stir fry and mozzarella sticks- again just making a diverse and enticing menu! Take me back or just get me more takeout! Yum!!

Savannah M.

Yelp
Friendly staff & timely service. Their veganized dishes are satisfying & satisfy your cravings. Oat milkshakes taste earthy & creamy. You order at the counter & they bring the food to your table. Seating is comfortably spaced & the environment is warm. Highly recommend for vegans and non-vegans alike.

Tigra C.

Yelp
J Selby's update- Major changes have been afoot at J. Selby's, and what a difference they've made! First of all, thank you to the management and staff for working during these crazy, unprecedented times! Every employee who came out, delivered my curbside order with a friendly disposition and a smile you could see from behind their masks. Service has improved 100% since my last visit. Thank you for the safety measures too! There were also some improvements with the food. The menu is limited, due to Covid-19, but they are excelling at what they are cooking up! Cauliflower Wings - With the to go order, dipping sauces come on the side, so it was the perfect opportunity to try several. Buffalo sauce was still a spicy hit. The maple mustard BBQ was very good. I'd love to try it with a vegan corn dog. The Sweet Chili sauce was so incredible, I wanted to swim in it! The cauliflower itself, still perfect - crispy battered outside, warm and tender inside. Yum! Dirty Little Secret - They are not using the same burger patties as the ones I disliked two years ago. The new patties are very tasty! I added some seitan bacon, which really set it off. This is now a 5-star dish! GLBT - Simple but delicious! A BLT with guacamole added. And as always, I omit the tomatoes. I ordered this a couple of times. I'm basically in love with their seitan bacon, so... Caesar Salad - I modified this salad, opting for mixed greens instead of romaine, and no walnut parm. Another simple yet delicious option. Topped with plenty of my favorite seitan bacon and a to-die-for caesar salad dressing. This is a solid choice on any day. Sides - I tried some different sides this time. The potato salad was ok, but not my favorite. Fries are fries. Can't go wrong there. Refried beans were really good! They could use a lil bit more sabor (flavor), but still good. So again, thank you to management for making improvements to both the food and the service. It's noticed and appreciated. *insert chef's kiss here*

Yelp
Dope - lil pricey but not bad for vegan food. great place to take a date show them your soft tofu side. Below is a picture of my mother and I out for some great food.

Yelp
J. Selby's is a bustling, durable and all-vegan restaurant in an old building in one of the loveliest, most historic neighborhoods in the United States (Cathedral Hill in St. Paul). It makes much of its own stuff and is junk food-focused without being gross. The mozzarella sticks ($9) have great flavor but I didn't care for the gooey texture of the cheese. The egg & cheeze bagel sandwich ($9) is available only on Sunday (why?) and comes together well. I wasn't blown away by it, and wish they used a better bagel, but I liked the baked tofu patty and the delicious homemade bacon (which I first thought was from Herbivorous Butcher). The Nashville hot chick'n sandwich ($15) has nice bread and tastes good overall, but the chick'n felt rubbery and fell flat in flavor. I do think they make their own chick'n, which is awesome, but it needs better breading. The Philly ($13) tastes good. I loved the bread and the homemade seitan. It won't blow you away, but it's well-done. There's frequently a line to order on the weekends, but the service is otherwise fast and friendly. They also have beer and solid house-made desserts. J. Selby's is a winner on a whole.

Yelp
I love J. Selby's!!! This restaurant is one of the best hidden gems in the Summit-University area. ALL-PLANT-BASED menu with so much variety!!! I have been coming here exclusively for the Crunchwrap for the past year or so, and it has been my absolute favorite item on the menu. That soy chorizo just touched my heart in ways that nothing else could. This week, I stopped in and ordered my usual Crunchwrap, and was so disappointed to take a bite and find out that THE SOY CHORIZO WAS GONE!!! BLASPHEMY!!!!!!! They've updated the menu, and the soy chorizo has just... disappeared. My heart is very sad. But, J. Selby's still holds a special place in my soy-chorizoless heart. It truly is a very welcoming space where all people can enjoy sustainable, thoughtful, plant-based meals. The Community Bowl is a pay-what-you-can option, allowing everyone to have access to a delicious plant-based meal without worrying about the cost! There are also Community Bowl tokens at the front register that have already been "paid-forward," which can be redeemed for a free bowl. Lots of love for J. Selby's. Just bring that soy chorizo back, please. :-)

Yelp
We walked in, grabbed a menu and took awhile to figure out what to order before stepping up to the counter. I say this because in hindsight, you really can't go wrong here. Everything looks amazing here. The beer battered sweet chili cauliflower 'wings' we ordered were so good! I ended up getting the "House-made bean burger, featuring fonio, harissa & beets, topped with charred poblanos, harissa mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion", which was one of the best black bean burgers I've ever had. And my wife got the crunchwrap which was also very good. They also have a good rotating selection of beers. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
Their crunch wrap supreme was FIRE! Grilled seriously to perfection if I had to say what I didn't care for was the vegan cheese (texture issue ) but other then I highly recommend this spot it seem to be in a popular atmosphere with great food selections and fresh lemonade which you can't go wrong.

Yelp
I got a recommendation to eat here from a meat-loving man who said that the wings are to-die for so I had to come. I came to this restaurant with two vegans and a fellow meat-eater and we were all impressed with the menu. Casual vibe- no need to dress up. I ordered the J Lucy with side of tots and it was a pleasant surprise. I've had a number of veggie burgers but this one was impressively textures as meat- a few more solid chunks to remind me that it was not but the cheese oozing from the middle helped me forget. The tots were ordinary but done crispy. I got to try the spicy peanut stir fry which had a slightly odd taste from whatever the base of the sauce was. It also left me wanting more mushrooms but overall good Asian dish. The star of our meal was the mac and cheeze- creamy texture and full-coverage sauce. The portion is generous and can fill up a full-grown man! For dessert, the matcha vanilla ice cream is done right with a frozen yogurt consistency and some vanilla cookies broken up into it. The pecan pie bar is also good although I think we picked up a slightly stale one and it was tough to chew. There was also a chocolate cookie (can't remember exactly what kind it was) that was amazing and I'd get again!! Parking was simple when we visited on a weeknight with free street parking. Great place to visit to eat your heart out and not feel too guilty! Good variety of menu and execution of meal!!

Yelp
Sometimes 5 stars, sometimes 4. Great vegan comfort food. I love the Dirty Secret and their buffalo chick'n is always pretty good. Even several non-vegans I know like this place. Hit or miss with service. We've gotten take-out where items were missing or wrong. Overall, I'm glad they are here and offering yummy food.

Yelp
Flew in from CA looking for a vegetarian friendly place to eat. A friend recommended this place and I was grateful they did! I had the Crunchwrap with home style potato and bean soup with a local beer. The Crunchwrap was fresh! No wilted lettuce or sogginess. The soup is straight up nostalgic of home in the Midwest around fall time. Flavors were on point. The beer was great too, from a local microbrewery (first in the area owned by women). All in all, I was VERY happy with meal today.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come here for a while now. I am not vegan but I have a lot of allergies. I can't have dairy or eggs which is nice because I never have to worry about that when I go to vegan restaurants. I ordered the cauliflower buffalo wings and the tater tots with the cheese on the side. I loved the cauliflower and the homemade ranch. I thought the tater tots were cooked really nicely with a great crunch. I didn't love the cheese sauce. It was a bit bland to me. My boyfriend got one of the hotdog options I forget which one. He ordered not realizing it was a vegan restaurant... lol. He didn't love it and said he couldn't taste the actual sausage very much but could feel the texture of it when we was eating it. I'm general I'm not the biggest fan of vegan sausage. I think if he would have known that it was vegan before he would have ordered something different. He also got a side of fries (which neither one of us loved). He said he would give the food he ordered a 3. Only because he felt like he didn't order the best of the menu. I give it a 4 solely on the cauliflower wings. They were wonderful but I also LOVE cauliflower. I do wish more ranch came with it! They're better with it on! Overall I definitely want to come back and try some more items off the menu but for now a solid 4!
