J Sushi

The sushi was decent, but the Las Vegas roll didn’t taste good at all. The place seems more like a takeout spot than somewhere you’d want to sit and dine. Great for a quick grab, but not for the experience.

I would not recommend eating here as their fish is not fresh and gives off an odor. I’ve been eating sushi for the last 30 years and can tell you that this place is not safe to eat at. Also, they have terrible attitudes and are not friendly at all. I would recommend going to WOW sushi instead on Rochester Rd.

Great place and food is even better. 5 stars all the way. Wish I had taken some pictures but you know I was enjoying the sushi more :)

I love this place. I have ordered numerous times and have not been disappointed. I even had first time sushi tryers try this place and they loved it as well. My kids love it too did I mention the price is amazing?

J Sushi puts so much effort into every item on their menu. Even the complementary miso soup and salad were more flavorful than what I’ve had at any other sushi restaurant in Michigan. The fish quality is out of this world, and their new tempura udon is definitely a must-try. Also, there are a number of vegan-friendly options! I can’t recommend this place enough.

Finally a truly outstanding sushi joint in MI. A quality family-owned business: delicious & original sushi; friendly owner; and very clean. They take care to provide the freshest sashimi; and the volcano roll & BBQ eel were excellent! Definitely recommend, especially for takeout!

One of my favorite sushi places! They are one of the best!!! Ingredients are always fresh, the entire team is the kindest, sushi just melt at each bite you take. Ordered couple times here and was never disappointed. Their social media accounts are also soo helpful with deciding which roll you'd like to get.

This place is great for the price. The rolls were fresh and tasty. My favorites were Mango, Firecracker and Volcano rolls. The have limited seating inside. Service was friendly.

Love that they have combos to try a few different rolls for the price of one roll. Spring rolls were nice and crunchy. Clean environment

This is not a eat in place. Pick up only. It only has chairs to wait at no tables. Very clean, the gentleman that took my order was very nice. Ill definitely be back for sushi. It all looked amazing. I did get a poke bow, the inly downside is you cant puck and choose and it didn't look like you could add anything additional. Bo sauce of any kind came with it, but again it all looked fresh and tasted great.

Highly recommend this for any sushi to go. The prices are solid -- you got a lot for your buck. I love getting the trays, only wish there was more variety in rolls we can choose from (seems like most are crab meat). The service is solid as well -- they are accommodating with utensils and sauces for the whole group. It's a mostly to go place by there might be a few seats -- overall very casual.

I was in the area taking some meetings and got a bit peckish so I decided to swing by and grab a couple of rolls of sushi. There wasn't really much seating so I ended up taking my order to go and eating it in the car. They told me it would be about 20-25 minutes so I went and killed time picking up some groceries at the market next door. I came back about 25 minutes later and had to wait for another 10 before they brought my order out. They were all super nice, though, and I was already going to be stuck in rush hour traffic by the time I headed home so I wasn't troubled by the longer wait. I ended up ordering the mixed roll combo which came with their mango roll (5 pcs), Sunday brunch roll (5 pcs), and firecracker roll (5 pcs). It was good but I definitely misread the descriptions because I hadn't realized they were all fried and/or served warm, I do like rolls prepared that way but prefer cold/raw rolls in general so having all the three prepared that way was a bit much for me all together. I would definitely order all three again but not at once, since I like to mix things up! I would recommend them, though! Especially if that preparation is your bag. Overall I enjoyed the experience and would certainly look forward to another meal here.

Ordered Combo Set D for to go, they only do carry out. Looked at the menu online and they're reasonably priced which I liked. Sushi tasted pretty good for the price. I would say its pretty good values Interested in trying their other sushi to see how it taste.

Came to restaurant after work to grab some sushi. Worked all day,so I wanted to wash my hands, restroom said (out of order) I asked the guy at the counter if they had somewhere I could wash my hands before eating (mind you this is a sit down restaurant with tables and placesets etc) he told me "no public restroom" I said, I'm trying to order some sushi, "no public restrooms" so I had to LEAVE, go to McDonald's down the street, wash my hands, then come back to order my sushi. I ordered, and went to pay, and the guy says, "I need to to sign this receipt" and pointed to a pen holder with like 5vpens in it. I told him, "I'm not touching those pens and signing that, after you just had me drive to McDonald's to wash my hands." He seemed disgusted that I said that, so I asked him, "how do you guys wash your hands with no restroom?" (After seeing an employee go into the "out of order" restroom, he said, "we have a sink back here" so anyways, enough with that debacle, I got my food, and ate. Sushi was good enough, not excellent, but tasted fresh. I just really thought the experience would be better based on these reviews. Also, I thought a WORKING public restroom was a requirement for "dine in" establishments. Idk. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The quality of the fish is good and everything was fresh. Very nice people all around and pleasant to customers. For me, the speciality rolls menu is lacking a bit. They have a large baked and tempura selection. My wife loved it. Lots of sauces.

I would definitely recommend because the sushi is fresh and tasty, and the staff is very polite and helpful.

This is the type of store, where they act like they're doing you a favor when you order food from them and if you tell them that something is wrong, they will argue you and tell you finally give up to make sure you never get a credit or what you actually ordered you are way better off, going to many other sushi spots, because they have horrible attitudes here very pricey, and just barely par food

I ordered the mega salad, baked California roll and a Philly roll with crab instead of smoked salmon, firecracker and yum yum roll and a new Las Vegas roll. Total is $51.62. Order would take take about 45 minutes since they have a few orders ahead of us. The inside is super small, it would be so hard to eat and keep socially distanced inside this place. Our food was pretty much ready, added some chopsticks to our bag to go. We were in and out in 7 minutes. The smell of the baked rolls and eel sauce permeated the car, it smelled good. The rolls all looked so good. The yum yum and the Las Vegas rolls were paired together in a box. The firecracker and the baked California rolls were in another container. The crab Philly roll was solo in its own box. The mega was flowering in its own box. The mega roll was good, easy to make crab salad wraps with it. Not super flavorful, The Philly rolls was simple, creamy and tasty. The baked California rolls were good as well. The yum yum, the Las Vegas roll and the firecracker rolls were the tastiest of the 5 rolls. Couldn't stop eating them bite for bite. All 3 had different flavor and texture profiles to keep it interesting. I would get all 3 again for sure. My hubby said this is the first time all of the rolls we ordered were all tasty and so yummy. Not bad for a first time order here. 5/5 win on the rolls then.

The sushi I ordered was the Mexican roll and The Mango Roll. It was 10/10 the customer service was good.

My first time trying this place and I will definitely be back. This might be my new sushi spot. The staff is super nice, place was clean, and everything tasted really good, especially the crunchy spicy salmon roll!!

Very good food, the prices are nice, and the staff was very helpful. This restaurant is for carry out, but does have seating for two to eat at the sushi bar. The music was also good.

This place fell off in sushi and they charge you an arm and a leg. You're better off just going to your local sushi Japanese and paying half the price.

Wow ! Not sure why I haven't gone here before but this is my #1 sushi place now. I tried a ton all around, by far the best sushi I have ever had in the USA. Melt in your mouth sushi. Carry out only but who cares when it tastes this good. Even ate some of the wife's rolls, she doesn't like raw fish, so I typically don't eat her sushi. Even the California roll was good, never liked them before. Nobel fish can't come close and that's suppose to be one of the best. Not anymore.

Visited J sushi as a family member recommended them when I was craving some sushi. We arrived 15 minutes before closing time, but they took our order still...that's great customer service! We ordered their garlic fried rice, sashimi combo, and a couple of salmon rolls. It was a lot of food for two people and we were stuffed. The sashimi combo was a generous serving with a variety of fresh fish. The fish was really good quality and you could taste the freshness - definitely not frozen fish. I love supporting small local businesses, so be sure to check them out when you want some good sushi! You can place your order ahead of time so you don't have to wait. They have plenty of parking in their lot and they're open a little later than other restaurants nearby.

J Sushi reached out to donate food and thank the medical professionals working during this pandemic. This is a trying time for many including themselves as a new business. Despite their situation at this time, their generosity and kindness still shines through! J Sushi donated two large party trays for a covid unit at Troy Beaumont and the staff could not stop raving about how great the sushi was! A nurse that was not keen on sushi said she loved it. One PA said he knows he should share with the others but it was too good to stop eating. Needless to say, you need to check this place out if you haven't already. The food is amazing and the owners are even better! They're friendly to everyone that walks in whether you're a new customer or a regular. They've remained open for carryouts only and maintain as much safety as they can for their customers.

We discover this sushi restaurant when Noble fish was as always closed or too busy to take anymore orders at 4 pm. I am so glad we found this sushi place! We always order nigiri, bakes rolls, and our favorite sushi rolls. Nigiri and sushi rolls are of a great quality and cheaper than Noble fish. We order hand rolls and Michigan rolls at Noble because J Sushi don't make them. I love J Sushi because they are always quick, always available, and always fresh. Highly recommend.

What a hidden gem!!! While designed to be a carry out joint, your dining experience is exquisitely simple where the excitement and frills are saved for the food itself. We ordered several items to try out because it was our first time there. First, the poke bowl was very flavorful but not salty; lots of veggies and extra textures thrown in. Despite the rice and poke sauce, not heavy or too overwhelming at all. Sashimi plate (#22) is an incredible deal for the price. Not only are you getting quality cuts but the portions and variety are generous for the price. Rolls - key quality of the rolls is the minimal amount of rice and abundance of the main ingredients. You can tell it was thoughtfully crafted: the flavors, portions and overall presentation. The house salad -- even this is phenomenal. Crisp and refreshing (we were told by the owner that this is made to order, and most other restaurants make this beforehand), and the dressing is made in house. Overall a phenomenal experience. We will definitely be back!

One month old! This place took over a clean Chinese restaurant that I ate at once (ya'll know clean Chinese restaurants have terrible food!) so I had to try it. Pros: + variety of sushi choices. + chill and nice sushi chef + very clean inside. Clean is good for Japanese restaurants, not Chinese restaurants. + love the squid nigri + the Mega salad is bomb + sushi chef gave us a small discount for waiting on the rice. Thanks! + ample parking +free tea and wifi (if you ask) Cons: - didn't see any sushi roll/nigri combos on menu - rolls a tad on the smaller side for price point. - fish in nigri deluxe cut kind of thin - Over all a good addition to the local area. Plus they are Korean and you KNOW I love BTS

I recently went here for a quick lunch. The staff here are so nice! If you sit there and eat, they give you tea or a bottle of water for free with your order. For lunch I ordered the mega salad and the spicy bbq eel crunch roll. The mega salad is basically a crab seafood salad over butter lettuce leaves. It's meant to be eaten like lettuce wraps. Its soooo tasty and refreshing! I highly recommend ordering this item! The bbq eel crunch roll was alright but I don't think I'll be ordering that again. The roll had too much bbq sauce and way too much of the crunchy stuff on top. I ended up pushing most of it off of the roll to eat it. The roll itself was smaller than I expected also. All in all, this place is great for lunch and I definitely will be going back to try the other items!

Enjoyed some delicious rolls from J Sushi today! The restaurant was clean with plexiglass set up for social distancing as well as hand sanitizer available for customers. Our rolls were generous (8 pieces each) and the bill was just $15! Food was prepared quickly and the staff was sure to include extra soy sauce in our carryout bag. Definitely the best sushi I've had in the Metro Detroit area so far!

The wife and I decided to have some delicious sushi today and ordered from here carry out. It's a small location, so there is no seating. Sushi rice is the most critical part of a sushi roll. Chefs in Japan spend years mastering this technique alone, and the chef here clearly is one that learned his craft, making us some of the most extraordinary sushi we have had in a while. I recommend others to go here if ever in the town of Warren, MI.

But Chef Jay and his son Jae have transcended the flavors of sushi to a new level. Their artistic combination of the freshest of fish with flavorful sauces, will awaken all of your tastebuds to a new mouthwatering high. Chef Jay is quite the artist! Take a walk to the bag of the restaurant and look up at the wall of drawings of people. They are so precise, you think they are black and white photos! J's Sushi is quite the experience!

Decided to give this gem a try! I have been driving by it and today finally decided to get carry out. The Philadelphia roll was amazing as well as the crunch wraps. Very delicious overall and would highly recommend this sushi place!

Noticed this new place open down the street and I've been meaning to try it. Here's my take: + Quality of the rolls and ingredients are superb! Definitely up there! -Rolls are smaller compared to the price point of many of the others I've been to in the area - Minimal amount of soy sauce (1/3 cup), ginger, and wasabi for 23 pieces of sushi I don't think I'll be back since I've developed my favorite sushi places around the area and since this didn't blow me away the first time, yet I wouldn't tell anyone not to try it. Check it out.

This is primarily a to-go restaurant. Look for the help-yourself tea bar around back near where the restroom is. It has a nice selection of teas, and free! I'm sitting down for lunch and a complimentary bowl of miso/tofu soup was brought to me in this brightly lit, artsy, Japanese restaurant. The poke bowl without fish would be a good vegetarian meal.

Large portions, Great prices and best of all SO DELICIOUS! Take out was ready in under 15 minutes. I absolutely LOVE this place! Ever since I spotted it driving one day, I gave it a try and they never disappoint me!

Got a Dragon Roll, Spicy Tuna, Unagi Sashimi, Tuna Sashimi, and a Ginger Salad delivered. Overall it was good and the price was very reasonable. Will order again. Very nice family.

Takeout order review - Decided to try out J Sushi because of the cucumber wrap roll. I love rolls done this way, but not enough places do it. I enjoyed everything I got. The sauce on the Veggie Tempura Roll was a little too spicy for me. Tuna seemed very fresh & tasty. Hard to pinpoint but something about rolls seemed a little average. I waffled back & forth between 4 & 5 stars. (Wish 4.5 was option.). But they have nice little set up for COVID safety so that pushed me to the 5.

My philly roll had raw salmon in it not smoke salmon and they looked at me all types of weird ways cuz i came in their shop havent been back won't go back!

Got the Deluxe New Las Vegas Roll for take out and it was awesome. Cute little place inside and tea came with my lunch. Will be going back for sure!

This place is absolutely amazing. The service is great and the quality is top notch. This is definitely a sushi staple moving forward. Everyone should give this place a try whether eating in or ordering take out.

I love this place as a go-to for my sushi needs. They have poke bowls, specialty rolls, and plain ole sushi, all of which have never disappointed me yet. It is primarily a carry out place, although there are small tables and chairs inside that allow you to dine-in. However, the indoor space is limited and not ideal for large parties. As a family run business, I'm excited to continue supporting their delicious sushi and excellent service!
