19 Laid-Back Wineries with Real Food in Sonoma County

"The first winery to establish an educational wine and culinary program in Sonoma County, J Vineyards continues to raise the bar for wine country hospitality. The luxurious Bubble Room experience ($125, available Thursday to Sunday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.), includes a five-course meal with wine pairings in a restaurant-like setting. Executive chef Carl Shelton creates unlikely combinations of ingredients — think black cod and rock shrimp with popcorn — to go with both bubbly and still wines." - Jess Lander

Skip Champagne: Pop Bottles of California-Made Bubbles on New Year’s Eve - Eater SF

"With comedian Eric Wareheim as the frontman, everything that Las Jaras Winery does seems tongue-in-cheek. Exhibit A: Sweet Berry Wine. But behind the silliness and colorful labels, Joel Burt is making some really exciting and delicious wine. Their non-traditional bubbly made from organic, old-vine carignan showcases notes of under ripe apricot, golden pear, roasted hazelnuts and what they describe as “hay in the breeze.” About $42." - Maria C. J Winery has been one of my favorite places in Sonoma for years, and I’ve proudly been a member for at least the last three. The wines are consistently excellent, but it’s the full experience that makes this place stand out. The Bubble Room is truly exceptional—Chef Forest creates beautifully paired bites that turn a tasting into a full culinary journey. It’s a must if you’re visiting. The Legacy Lounge also deserves a mention—the cheese pairings there are thoughtful and delicious, and I’ve spent more than one solo afternoon enjoying them with a view. The setting is gorgeous, the wine is top-notch, and the staff goes above and beyond. Casey, in particular, has made our last two visits especially memorable with warmth and impeccable service. If you’re in Sonoma, J Winery should be on your list. And if you can, treat yourself to the Bubble Room experience. It’s unforgettable.

Google
Absolutely love this place. Never really been a wine club member but this place makes it so worth it. Tastings at the Bar, cheese and wine pairings, and the outstanding bubble room with wine and food pairings. Not only do they have great wine, but their sparking wine is outstanding. Who doesn’t love a little bubbly!! An absolute gem!

Google
Amazing bubbly tasting, would def visit again to enjoy the nice tasting experience. The cheese plate is also worth getting. Wish they had a better model to waive tasting fees but all in all a must go if you like bubbles.

Google
Delightful bubbly experience at J ! It’s a semi formal winery, beautiful setting with both inside and outside seating. If you can definitely get an outdoor table booked. We were not able to get that and sat indoors. The wine tasting is super generous and a great value. We only got one cheese plate which was enough since we had dinner plans right after this. Great thoughtful pairing with the cheeses, exceeded my expectations. We did two separate flights so we could experience more variety. It was great. Our wine expert was an expert! we had 101 questions and he was not bored answering them. Made our experience that much better. They are not push but like most wineries will bring a price sheet and membership booklet in case you want to make a purchase. Cost wise this is a mid-level tasting but under $100 per person. If you get a membership they usually comp the tasting. In any case it’s a beautiful experience tasting variety of wines but especially their sparkling wines are the main event!!

Google
Love the wines!! But didn't appreciate the tight pours even being a member for years. Highly scrutinized pours and no offers for extra tastings, despite loyal service for many years. One staff member was not friendly and makes me consider canceling my membership, don’t feel valued.

Google
The food and wine pairing was amazing. We came in the first day of a new menu. We were simply blown away. Chef Kellogg has crafted an amazing menu. I have never had a food and wine menu pair so beautifully together, and work and harmony. Sincere accolades to the team here. My recommendation is to skip the Michelin guide restaurants in Healdsburg and go for the food and wine pairing at the wineries. J is our number one. The Kendall Jackson food and wine pairing is our number two. The Healdsburg Michelin guide restaurant tasting menus are tired, unimaginative, and incomplete comparison. Again, truly wonderful job from Chef Kellogg and team.

Google
We had the lunchtime tasting menu at the Bubble Room. It was staggeringly good. A series of small dishes, each perfectly balanced and paired with a J wine. The Bubble Room is an elegant modernist room with great views across the vineyards. the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. it's not cheap, but the food and wines are exquisite. Highly recommended.

Google
We always have a great time here especially in the bubble room. The staff is really friendly. They help carry our wine to the car each time. There is ample parking. The area is beautiful. The pinot noirs and sparkling here are great. The membership is definitely worth it

Yelp
What a beautiful experience we had today. From the check in to the tasting the service was exceptional. Casey your energy, knowledge and personality made our afternoon. Thank you for the hospitality. Stephanie stood in for Casey for awhile and she was just as pleasant. We enjoyed the wines but wine tasting is different for everyone so I recommend to come out and try for yourself. I will say that the cheese pairing was so good. I highly recommend to attach that to the tasting experience. It will enhance it. Along with the crudités was the cherry on top. We had a wonderful time and look forward to our next visit.

Yelp
Cute winery in Healdsburg that offers a variety of tasting options. Overall, great wines and friendly staff. Despite being late to our scheduled reservation due to traffic, we were promptly greeted and brought inside for our tasting. We were in the Legacy Lounge which was very comfortable and spacious. I opted for the varietals tasting which I enjoyed and liked that I was able to try whites & reds. We did take same bottles home and enjoyed them at dinner later that night. I would like to come back to try a different experience/tasting. The pacing of the pours was a lot slower for my liking and we had to remind staff to pour the last glass for one of the flights because they started to clear the table and get us ready to check out.

Yelp
We enjoyed a wine and food pairing in the Bubble Room recently and it far exceeded our expectations. The food was phenomenal, the wine was amazing, and the service was excellent. The Bubble Room is elegant and the winery had a spring theme throughout the winery that was tasteful, colorful, and upbeat. We enjoyed six wines paired with food and everything we tried we were blown away by. We absolutely loved all of the food that we tried during this experience! They change their menu every six weeks so there is always something fun and new to try. We can't say enough great things about this wine and food pairing and if you are looking for an elevated experience, the Bubble Room is definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
What a great experience this was! We happened to stop by prior to a concert near by and I'm so happy we stopped here! First of all, I LOVE bUBBLES!!!! So the fact that half these tastings are bubbles made my day!!! We patiently waited as they happened to be so busy and our patience paid off cause they offered free tastings for our patience! I swear that when you're patient and kind it gets you wayyyy better service and this is such a great example of that. Such a great photo area with delicious wines! I highly recommend this spot and I will definitely come again.

Yelp
If you like bubbly, come here for their Legacy Sparkling Wine tasting. The interior is a little underwhelming as they are in transition to decorate for an upcoming event in early Feb. The Sparkling Wine room is lovely. Spacious, floor to ceiling windows, minimalist decor. Izzy helped us with the 5 sparkling wines and cheese pairing. He's extremely friendly, fun and knowledgeable. This is a seated tasting, so you can savor the sparkling wine and cheese selection. The Demi Sec was our favorite and we had to buy a bottle. Its wonderful! They also have the brut rose which is an everyday enjoyable light and bright bubbly. The others were unique and interesting and can only be purchased at the facility. if you like bubbly, this place is not to be missed if you are in the area.

Yelp
We had an upgraded tasting. The upgrade was such a joke!!!!! Don't waste your money on an upgraded experience unless you want to be VERY disappointed! J has become SO corporate that the cheese pieces provided were the tiniest, flattest, pre-cut pieces of cheese I've ever seen...or barely seen! Half the thickness of pre-sliced cheese! And on the same wavelength as the crackers they were on. The cheese and crackers were, at best, 1/2" squares! We had the "LEGACY LOUNGE: Enjoy flights of five of our most exclusive and small-lot wines at this seated tasting. Looking at the photo on the website, it appears to be a real pour". Our pours in total didn't even come close to filling one glass in the photos on the site; they measured about a little more than a teaspoon each. No kidding! And the cheese total was about the size of one cut piece of cheese in the promo photos. They didn't even ask to revisit any of the wines. What a total disappointment!! We didn't say anything as we needed to go to a real tasting appointment afterwards, and there were 4 people talking to the one person at the front. We didn't have time, and also didn't want to get into it with other people around. I called 2 days ago to pass on our horrible experience. We never got a call back. All said J wines are quite good. We even mentioned that we used their champagne for our wedding. We will never purchase their wines again, as the customer service Doesn't Exist Anymore! Too bad. We have recommended them numerous times over the past 25 years!!! No more E. & J. Gallo-affiliated wineries ever again!

Yelp
I am not a member at many vineyards but J is one of the few exceptions. Friendly and welcoming staff, great tasting property with indoor and outdoor facilities. I like the bubbles so I stick to the sparkling here and the Brut Rose is one of my favorites. The vintage selections along with their still wines offer something for everyone. Fan of the cheese paring with a flight of bubbles.

Yelp
After more than 10 years, we joined another couple at J vineyards in their Bubble Room this weekend. It was even better than my first experience. This experience is a 5 course (plus an amuse at the start) food and sparkling wine pairing experience that will rival any winery's high end experience. These small dishes are prepared by their brilliant chef, and paired with a variety of expertly curated selection of J's sparkling wine. The food, wine, and service was exemplary. I especially wanted to give high marks to their serving staff. They have a very talented brigade of fine dining servers. A special acknowledgement to Casey. Highly knowledgeable for such a young person. She could work at any Michelin star restaurant. She's also fun, witty, and has a natural sense of humor. j is lucky to have her. The Bubble Room is a great way to treat friends or family to this high end, but not pretentious, experience when visiting from out of town.

Yelp
Growing up in the SF Bay Area, I started wine tastings at a young age when all the winery wine tasting rooms were in rustic buildings and had free tastings. Times have changed! I was not prepared for J Vineyards. I had expected to sit outside at picnic tables. The grounds are beautiful with a Fountain of Youth! The wine tasting building is spectacular, modern with two-story high ceilings. It was like walking into a huge art gallery or high-end hotel lobby. The five of us sat in the Legacy Lounge (one of us is a Club J member). I don't think I've ever had so many glasses at a place setting before, maybe 6 or 7 including a water glass. Even slightly different size flutes for different sparkling wines. Plus delicious local cheese pairings for each tasting. It was a great introduction to J Vineyards, well known for sparkling wines and several outstanding Pinot Noir (Eastside Knoll Vineyard, Russian River Valley 2020 was excellent). Unfortunately, in Fort Lauderdale where I live, most shops only carry J's standard non-RRV APA Pinot Noir.

Yelp
Visited the bubble room for their food and wine pairing. This has been my third time and each visit has been unique and incredible. You're greeted with a glass of champagne to start the experience. This is a 5 course menu with a couple bonus additions- in the beginning and at the very end. The personal touch of adding your name to the top of the menu makes the lunch feel that much more special. The presentation is beautiful and the combination of ingredients is very innovative. The bubbles and wine pair perfectly with each course. In the past the added chocolates to finish were served on a plate but this time they were in a cute to go pyramid shaped boxed. I loved that. The bubble room is a classy setting with gorgeous chandeliers and fresh flowers on the tables. Great for a special occasion. This experience never disappoints - highly recommend.

Yelp
We have been a member for 5 years, visit on our trips 3-4 x a year. First time I was admonished by wine pourer that I could not revisit and that I've had enough. I would have understood if I was drunk or not a member, but we spend hundreds of dollars on our wine club. Not ok or appropriate, very disappointed and disrespectful
google avatar

Mary Ann P.

Yelp
What a lovely tasting room. The grounds are just beautiful and our attendant Izzy was very knowledgeable about the wines and its pairing with the specific cheeses selected for them. Not a high pressure to join the wine club and very relaxing atmosphere. Seemed like a lot of locals were there which tells me it's a great place!!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're planning a day of wine tasting, this is an absolute great place to start or mid day. The ambience is absolutely graceful. We had a large party of 7, 2 with a gluten and vegetarian diet restrictions - the staff was so accommodating. Greatly appreciated.

Yelp
This review is specifically for the limited Guest Chef Series, Shifting The Lens; if you have an opportunity, GO! Don't think about it, you will not regret the unforgettable experience as there is nothing else like it! I've been to 2/4 of the experiences and could not have been more pleased or amazed by these unique dining experiences; they are truly doing great work in shifting the mindset of what we consider remarkable wine / food pairing experiences. This is a shift from the typical French inspired menu as they have invited renowned Chefs to bring in flavors of their homes to the wine/food pairing experience. The team began offering these noteworthy experiences in 2022; I had the pleasure of attending my first event during guest Chef, Preeti Mistry residence; they prepared some beautiful Indian dishes they enjoyed growing up in their East Indian Family. Some of the dishes were traditional Street food you'd probably never think to pair with a beautiful Sparking wine and unfortunately you've been missing out! The J team decided to continue and expand the experience by inviting 3 additional Chefs for a Second round. This year, they have invited chefs to prepare Vietnamese and Mexican cuisine to tantalize our palate and are bringing back Chef Mistry for a second round. The first guest Chef of 2023 was Chef Tu; he not only impressed and inspired us with his amazing story telling of his childhood growing up learning from his mom's kitchen, he also wowed us with the passion he put into the dishes he carefully paired along with award winning wine maker Nicole Hitchcock ( 2022 winemaker of the year) wines. The duo hit it out of the park with the selections. One of my favorite pairings was a beautifully hand made noodle dish with toasted black sesame seeds which paired perfectly with the J Chardonnay. I could go on about each of the carefully selected courses but I think it's best to let you explore and experience for yourself. Each event is different and special and well worth the splurge. It will transform how you view fine dining and wine pairings.

Yelp
I had the honor and pleasure to be a guest at J Vineyards & Winery. Oh what a treat! My gal friend who lives in the Bay Area coordinated this visit and we certainly had fun. First the property - pristine, pretty, pleasurable Second the production - I love their sparking wines (nuff said) Third the tasting - Executive and professional Fourth the staff - Fun and knowledgeable Fifth the overall - Well, I became a J Vineyards & Winery member This would be a great place for a wedding, anniversary, graduation, birthday or no occasion. They do have the facilities to accommodate larger functions. You can check with their Events Team who will give you the rundown. They have tours. TAKE THE TOURS Notes- about 1 1/2 hours from San Francisco

Yelp
The last winery of our weekend was @jwinery Bubbles and Pinots all day. The grounds are beautiful. We took our tasting outside. Which meant that we had to go inside every time we were ready for the next taste. For me this was a miss, the patio is gorgeous. The inside is nice but drinking wine outside is just better. I wish that there was organized tasting outside too.

Yelp
Anniversary weekend celebrations We are huge fans of visiting J Vineyards for their Champagne bubbles. The winery is located on a beautiful site that offers stunning views of the vineyards. We have experienced both the signature tasting at the bar and a seated tasting with cheese pairing and both were exquisite. Our favorite selections at J are the extensive selections of bubbly wines and a wonder flight tasting in their tasting room is the perfect way to enjoy them. Of course, it doe cost $40 flight (plus the occasional bonus taste). However, the pours are generous and well worth the cost. We also received the cheese board: seasonally-curated cheese board ($30.00) featuring a selection cheese and sliced baguettes and crisps that best complement the flight of bubbles and wine--just delicious! Overall, the bubbly wines at J Vineyards are lovely and one of our favorites. Their most popular wine is their Brut Rose-however, we enjoy all the selections. In fact we left this visit as J VINEYARDS & WINERY WINE CLUB members. Love our J. Note: The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and professional.

Yelp
All their wines and bubbles are fantastic! We did a legacy tasting with cheese pairing and Izzy our server was informative and friendly. The chef made modifications to the cheese tasting based on our likes/dislikes. The atmosphere was comfortable and elegant. We had a great time and look forward to going back.

Yelp
Excellent bubbles and their Pinot noir show cases its smoothness and elegance just like Mike our sommelier at J winery today. He also also giving free hugs! ;)

Yelp
It is a great and beautiful property located in Healdsburg, CA, alongside the Russian River and Old Redwood Hwy. We had a great time tasting and selecting the wines/varietals we liked. J Wines are known for their sparkling wines using *Coquard presses that are rare and not usually used in most vineyards. The head wine maker is Nicole Hitchcock, who has made a name for herself in the Sonoma Valley. The wines are very well balanced and offer many aroma and taste profiles from sparkling, whites, and reds. Being it is located in the Russian River district, the pinots, chards, and sparkling are going to be fantastic. Also, as I mentioned in my many other reviews, the people are very friendly and are great at giving advice and with their expertise. *Sonoma way. Please visit and enjoy.

Yelp
I had the $200 Bubble Room shifting the lens experience and was bummed because my partner and i both left hungry :( Food: I enjoyed how the chef brought their own vegan flair to the table, but even after the 5 courses with the plates being so small, it just wasn't satisfying. also VERY mushroom umami heavy (3/5 courses were focused on mushrooms!) and i was hoping that there would be more variety in both taste + texture. I'm not sure that I would do this experience again given the price :( Service: phenomenal :) I loved both of our waiters and they were helpful when answering questions about both the wine and the food!

Brea B.

Yelp
Went to J winery and had a wonderful time!! My aunt and I did the bubbles tasting with cheese pairing which was fun and delicious. J is beautiful and our sommelier Casey was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. We had an amazing time learning about the fermentation process which you can view from upstairs and about the sugar content of different types of wine. Overall, the experience was relaxing and fun! We already have plans to go back for the meal pairing in the bubble room this week!! I will check back in after that experience!! I would definitely recommend the cheese pairing!!

Yelp
I had relatives visiting from Pennsylvania. One of them had had a Pinot at a restaurant in Pa. She asked about visiting the winery because she enjoyed the wine. We didn't have a reservation and showed up on a Friday afternoon in July. We were greeted by Bella and Donna. They were both very hospitable and friendly. Donna made an effort to accommodate us given their walk up tasting bar was quite busy. She offered us (minus me as designated driver) a taste of some sparkling wine which my guests and partner enjoyed. Although we didn't do a tasting they allowed my guests to order a glass of wine which we paid for. All in all it was a good experience. I think given the friendliness of Donna, Bella and the gentlemen pourer (whose name I didn't get) - we would definitely return and make an advanced reservation. Although we didn't go - it located next door to Rodney Strong - so could be a good spot for trying to tasting rooms within walking distance of each other.

Yelp
I've tasted J Vineyards wines at restaurants and always enjoyed them. So when I had the opportunity to visit the vineyard in person, I took it. There are a variety of lovely areas inside and out for wine tasting. The grounds are also quite beautifully designed and it makes for a very pleasant experience. We had visited during a time when they weren't offering tours due to COVID so we selected the bubbles flight on the patio. A bit after arrival we were offered a taste of bubbles while we waited for our reservation time. After being seated, our host provided an overview of each wine and was helpful when we had questions. We were allowed plenty of time to sip, savor, and chat as we worked our way through the the tasting. My favorite was the Vintage Brut. Delicious. I'm also a big fan of the Pinot Gris. Just the perfect amount of sweetness. I plan to visit J. Vineyards again to try additional wines and hopefully partake in a tour as well.

Yelp
Wonderful experience at the Bubble Room with my siblings and my Mom. Inspired food pairings with their Sparkling wines and Pinots.

Yelp
Thank you Mike and team for an amazing Bubble Room experience. The food and wine complemented each other perfectly, each bite/sip more amazing than the last. The presentation of the food was so amazing we dug in before we could take a photo of most courses. What a wonderful way to kick off our weekend get away. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
I spent a weekend in the area recently and my group did 6 wine tastings, this was far and away our favorite tasting. Highly recommend the cheese pairing, it was a small bite but the pairing was delicious. Our host was knowledgeable and really brought the wine descriptions to life (this was also the only vineyard any of us purchased a wine club membership at, and our host was kind enough to waive our 5 tasting fees since we aren't local and can't enjoy the events that come with the membership). Also loved the heritage of a female head winemaker. Lovely garden ambiance, we enjoyed sitting outside. Would eagerly return next time I'm in the Sonoma area.

Yelp
Just had the most amazing experience at the bubble room. Food and tasting was extra special and the knowledge shared by Brendon, Jen, Casey were top notch.

Yelp
First time going wine tasting and it was a MUST do visiting wine country. My sister and her husband were members here and decided to take me here for their champagne tasting. Beautiful outdoors area. There is a vineyard you can walk through and LOVED the maple vines that possessed the front of the building. The fall leaves was gorgeous bright green, yellow and vibrant reds. My sister and I did the legacy flight whereas her husband did the varietal flight. The best part had to be the cheese plate that was paired with each wine. I felt like each champagne was bitter/dry since I'm not someone who typically drink wine/champagne. It was a HUGE difference with the cheese. I was mind blown at how much of a difference it made the taste. I personally also preferred the softer cheese vs the sliced cheese as it coats the mouth better for when you taste the wine, it brings out so much flavor. The sliced cheese was very hard to eat and drink wine to bring out the potential flavors. I personally enjoyed the entire experience. I LOVE cheese to the point that I love bleu cheese so I enjoyed the blue cheese with candied nori which was the best one. The wine and cheese are rotating so it depends on the season. Service was amazing. Izzy? (african american male with an accent) was beyond pleasant. He was passionate and super friendly. Loved his knowledge and overall service. Super sweet. I would say he made the experience so much better. Our other server, Mike?, was nice as well. I think hes fairly new compared to izzy because he was shy and wasn't as talkative compared to Izzy. Overall really enjoyed the experience. I would LOVE to return and try their bubble room as my sister said their food is amazing.

Frances M.

Yelp
Our server Casey was wonderful, super informative, funny, charming! This was our final winery in sonoma county and by far our favorite. My partner and I both had the varietal tasting with the cheese plate which was quite diverse and flavorful as well as beautifully presented. My favorite wine out of the five was the final pinot noir, and casey recommended us an additional pinot (the bow tie) which was so tasty we got a half case of it. The legacy room was a classy and intimate setting, and I will be taking my mother back tomorrow! highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Delicious lunch and wine pairing in the bubble room. Everything melted in your mouth. Strawberry soup, tempura fried asparagus short rib, and much more. By the time you go menu will have changed so wont give you all the details. Wines were also all excellent. From the rose, to an oaky chardonnay, Pinot noir (of which they have almost 20), and multiple sparklings. Nothing here I did not like and we left with a full case to take home. Oh...and also signed up for a membership to continue to enjoy this wine.

K K.

Yelp
Second visit recently... not as great as the first back in 2017. Did the cheese and wine pairing. Wife had the mixed flight and I had just bubbles. The cheese board was delicious and well presented. The wines on the whole were fine. The tasting took place in a dining area. Felt like an Average restaurant. The weather was beautiful but due to staffing shortage they only do tastings indoors during the week. If I'm in California tasting wine it should almost always be outside. And due to being short staffed the attention and wine info was limited. Probably more like 3.5 stars but the cheese saved the day. No longer see a need to return here.

Yelp
One of the more expensive wine tastings but everything here was a notch above the average. We came for the bubble room tasting and it was amazing paired with 5 different sparkling wines. The food quality and service is what I would expect from a Michelin star rated restaurant. My wife even mentioned that she wanted to try a red, and they swapped out one of the sparkling a for a red for her. Wine glass geek alert: they use zalto glasses for all their wine tastings which are one of the nicest glasses you can buy. I appreciated that they used a new one for each tasting too!

Nikki R.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I each had the lovely signature tasting. Generous and extra pours thanks to Michael which made up for the total cost, $78.38! Eek. By far the priciest tasting I've ever had for being just that, a tasting. The wine was good, but preferred the bubbly over the reds.
google avatar

Valentine D.

Yelp
Wonderful winery experience! Nita was very accommodating and very proficient about the wines! We called last minute for a tasting and they were able to accommodate for my party. We were greeted with a nice cuvée by the hostess upon arrival and quickly to start on our inside near the bar ( standing bar only ). Tasting was $25 for 5 tastings and worth every penny. The Sonoma coast 2017 and 2018 were our favorite. Highly recommend if enjoy Pinot! Great service and delicious wine.

Yelp
We were having a rough day then Donna came along who managed to be so welcoming and completely changed our day. The bubbly was really refreshing along with the exceptional customer service and gorgeous property we'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Our first time visiting a winery in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County. Beyond incredible. Just wow! Is J Vineyards and Winery. As I noted in my tip you MUST STOP, SIP and SAVOR. What an amazing Place. Elegance and sophistication. Exquisite wines, sparkling wines, and champagne. Talk about sipping and savoring. We did just that at the Pink Party. A night of opulence, decadent indulgences. A unforgettable evening of food and wine pairing extravaganza. A glorious celebrating of the release of J Brut Rose. Absolutely delicious! I say the Pink Party is all about opulence, sparkles and bubbles with a splash of pink.; which turned Fuschia at the end of the evening bc it's so EPIC! ;D We shall take note of my note and definitely return.

Yelp
We had a great time here, and the wines were awesome. Well worth a visit. The pinot noir is soooo good!

Yelp
Innovative, thoughtful and delicious are words that would help to describe the clever pairing we experienced at the Bubble Room this past Saturday. Our extraordinary wait staff, with Stephanie at the helm were delightful travel guides in our menu journey. Possibly our favorite bubbly was the first pour the Cuv'ee XB, on the dry end of the spectrum and delicious. The first course of Monkfish, Celery Root and Truffle paired well with the Barrel 16 Chardonnay. Second course of Sweetbreads, were smoky and bacon flavored, the crispy breaded Skate fish paired well together and it was all complemented by the Eastside Knoll Pinot. Third course was the best of the protiens, with the Kurobuta Pork, aka pork belly, along with Sunchoke, Treviso, Leeks and Hedgehog mushrooms and the most memorable of the wines, the Annapolis Ridge Pinot, coming from a treacherous terrain where water trucks must be driven warrants its $100 bottle price. We savored this course most of all. The 4th course of the delicious shaved Twig Farm Tomme, a parmesan like cheese served with J's very own sprouted and milled dense and flavorful bread was a hit and paired well with the Cuv'ee 20 Magnum. Lastly but not last was the desert course of creamy, velvety coconut cream with lime and blood orange was delightful with the Demi-Sac, a bubbly I would say is the port of bubblies, rich and sweet. A final tray of sweet bites concluded our tasting experience, that tartlets were, sweet, salty and covetable. I can say with great confidence that this is an experience that should not be missed to all foodies out there who want to see what pairing can really do for wines. Schedule in advance, on Cellar Pass, $125 each general public or wine club members receive a discount or comp depending on your club level membership.

Yelp
This was our first wine tasting right from getting into town and it was a great start to our trip. No only are the pours very generous, but the amount of different wines they let you try was more than most places. I highly recommend eating there or before unless you're looking to walk (stumble) out a bit tipsy. Their wines were great as well. Never been much of a sparkling drinker, but these all were crisp and very enjoyable to drink. Not too sweet but filled with good flavor. We even got to try a couple wines not on the tasting menu. Our host was so friendly and accommodating that we had to ship a few bottles back home to us.

Yelp
It's a hot Monday afternoon at 3pm when we arrived to find the lonely staff who hurried to come out. She poured the welcome bubbly and sorry to inform me that they had no capacity to change our reservation to all bubbly. We were stuck with the standard set: 2 bubbly and 3 still wines. She proceeded to pour the 2nd still wines, a chardonnay, at the bar counter. With that, we were told to take the wine and find ourselves a table outside. There were large umbrellas that left spots exposed to the sun on the table. We muscled those around to achieve maximum coverage. The general expectation was we're to go back to the bar counter, where AC was running cooly, for our next in the flight. They were not going to provide fresh glasses, and produce a spit-bucket only upon request. Such was the arrangement and we complied. On occasions, she came out to pour proactively. The warm weather should have made cool bubbly and white wines more enjoyable, but somehow it did not. Time went slowly. I vaguely remember the penultimate brut bubbly was enjoyable. Then we simply left without really thinking too much about this place anymore. No, I don't accept pandemic as the excuse for short-staff. Businesses must cope with their own difficulties running it, not transfer them to the customers, other than the pricing. As far as I can tell, there were only two batches of customers, including us. This is not a transactional industry but a hospitality one. They clearly had lots of bubbly wines and we clearly were interested in those, why not accommodate, even with a surcharge, instead of sticking to the program? We expect greeting, a bit education, and a welcoming atmosphere. I don't think it take a lot to achieve that, just 30 seconds of idle chatting and few caring inquiries will do. None we received. By the way, the entrance shared with Rodney Strong winery. It was easy to miss.

Yelp
FANTASTIC - Mina is my Heroooooooooooo, she's everything I need and more in a friend. Was invited to join Mina & Gilly for an amazing early afternoon dinner. I had no idea what to expect, except that there would be sparkling wine and some snacks lol. I'm not a big sparkling wine guy unless it's outrageously expensive Champagne. We arrived on time (that's a big deal for us) and walked into the large Foyer, then into the left in the J Room. It's is a large beautifully designed quiet room, we were greeted by a cheerful young lady that promptly gave us the Cuvee 20, NV, in the old 'Bond' style flat Champagne glass. It's a fun way to start and recent studies show this is a great way to enjoy sparkling wine, it doesn't hold the bubbles forever but releases great aromas and the wine was delicious - much better than expected and this was only the first one. When we were all there we were seated and I just then I realized my phone was still being charged at home - uhoh - can you imagine, the horror of it all!! Maybe a good thing for me to sit back and just enjoy, we did take some pictures - Mina lent me her phone and Mike took some for me. I'm trying to master the Mina / Stephanie / Steve picture taking ability. I look back at mine and there's half of the plate but totally missed the food? That's difficult to do - I'm an expert. The Entire meal was Fantastic!! Amazing Sparkling wines that I want to call Champagne but don't want anyone from France to come down hard on me because we aren't in Reims, Fr. I think I loved all of them - the Non Vintage were delicate and delicious, the vintage Champs had toast aka brioche nuances (my fav) gorgeous, the food was unbelievably delicious and perfectly paired - Wagyu Steak & Short Ribs paired with the 2011 Vintage Brut - AWEEE-MAZING. I may need help from grammarly. Instead of typing out each pairing, please peruse the photo's that tells this encreble' story. Just too good - why did I have no idea this is one of the best meals being served in Sonoma County!!! And our server, Patricia, a Sommelier, was friendly, knowledgeable, appropriate, did an outstanding job. Ahhh yes, I think I heard MG mention this place was it once, twice......or 15 times and she was on the money!! Oh and more perfect, everyone knew her and Kerry, and really liked them - I love that about these people. Take a few pics but really enjoy this exceptional and rare experience that is truly rare, even here in wine country. A RARE Absolute Must Try Experience

Yelp
This is a nice place. We came here with a small group. They have an excellent selection of champagne and an amazing Pinot noir which I just had to get a bottle of. One thing I didn't like was for the tasting it was at a bar style, which is nice but when there's another group being loud it's kind of hard to hear the sommelier. But none the less we managed and had a great time

Yelp
One word: STUNNING! J Vineyards is quite the charmer, and you'll be charmed from the moment that you enter. A grand estate with delicious wines, ravishing decor, and the views to match. I was invited here by my friend Mina, who is a club member, to celebrate our friend's birthday. And after spending a day here (yes, we were literally here aaaallll day!), I can totally see why this winery is her favorite and a favorite of many others. Everything is top notch. The ambiance, the wine, the food, the service. You will receive no less than the best. We indulged in a legacy tasting in their beautifully set legacy room. The large windows allowed for soft natural light and a beautiful view of the outside as we tasted. I couldn't take my eyes off of the stylish light fixtures! They were chandelier bubble lights. Bubbly lights and bubbly wine; very clever! And, speaking of: J Vineyards bubbly wines are simply untouchable. Light, crisp, refreshing, and BUBBLY! My favorite was their demi-sec which had light bubbles and a wonderful sweetness. We all did the Pinot Noir flight which was incredible! Pinot Noir is my first love when it comes to wine, and J definitely does it justice. I enjoyed every single Pinot that I tasted, but their Pinot Noir Strata just took me. It was my absolute favorite! Loved the fruit forwardness and subtle spicy finish. We also did an oyster and cheese pairing as well, and both were marvelous! Hats off to Chef Carl because the cheese plates that I've had here have been phenomenal! Sam was our host for the day and she did an excellent job explaining the details of each wine and pairing. She's super informative and extremely passionate. We loved having her as our host! I also want to shoutout the boss lady Sarah. Izzy, and Lindsey! Sarah is so sweet and bubbly, just like the wine that we were drinking. With a radiant personality like that, it's no wonder that she's in charge. Izzy and Lindsey were super fun! The entire J Vineyards team is just amazing! Their front patio is gorgeous! So many flowers, a beautiful water fountain, and views for days! But even more intriguing is their coveted Bubble Room! Now, that's where you need to be! The price for a tasting in the Bubble Room is a bit steep, however for the experience, it's worth it. We're planning to have dinner in the Bubble Room soon, and I'm so excited! Thanks so much Mina for introducing me to the beauty that is J Vineyards.

Yelp
My Yelpy friend Mina aka OG of JV brought me here for the VIP birthday treatment. Although, we didn't win the Mega Millions, J Vineyards & Winery will treat you like a million bucks! Just check out my photos; I even made a collage. I enjoyed every moment of our seated tasting. Our wine hostess Sam was pleasant & knowledgeable. This place is elegant and classy. The fresh oysters are to die for, if you like oysters. The staff are attentive, engaging and friendly. The bubbles and flight of red wines are superb. Afterall, they're known for their sparkling wines, so keep on toasting to a blissful life! I'm not a huge fan of pungent cheeses, and not many were pungent; they paired perfectly well with the vino. We also had a splash of dessert wine. Mina surprised me with a bottle of champs ~ ooohhh lala! Thank you dahling (insert heart emoji). https://giphy.com/gifs/real-housewives-of-orange-county-rhoc-heather-dubrow-XtgoaXyK0rdmg I bought a bottle of 2017 Russian River Vin Gris via her membership - score! This place is Disneyland for gal pals. A day spent at J Vineyards is definitely a fun day any day! Girls just wanna have FUN! 'Til we meet again ~ cheers & see you on Yelp (SYOY)! P.S. It's all about the Bubble Room :)

Yelp
Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles! J's is one of the nicest tasting rooms I've been to. The ambiance is romantic and the decor is elegant. Even their bottles are pretty! I started my month long Birthday celebration earlier this year at J's with the J Sparkling Flight. It was raining, but thankfully we reserved a table in the gorgeous J Legacy Lounge. My girlfriends and I thoroughly enjoyed the tasting with a couple cheese pairings that we split between the four of us. The rich and sharp cheeses each came with a sweet treat. All of the bubbles we tried were fantastic. I have to say my favorite was the Cuvée, I really liked them all though. One of my girlfriends is a J member and was very kind to get us the club member prices. Our server was fantastic and attentive. He made sure we were taken care of and most of all had a fun time. J's a wonderful place to celebrate any occasion or if you just simply like champagne. On my next visit and when the weather is warm again, I'd like to do a tasting on their patio I've heard so much about.

Yelp
My sister and I both loved this place so much that we actually came back a second time on our way home. The amazing combination of delicious wine, excellent and friendly service, and beautiful views really made this place shine and stand out to us above the rest. Shout out to Russell for the stellar service! You made us want to come back for a second wine tasting (and also convinced us to buy some bottles for later and join the wine club)! Also, as soon as you walk up to check in they give you a nice refreshing glass of sparkling while you wait for your table. Very classy! We booked the first tasting for July 11 (my sis booked the first one) and the second tasting for July 14 (I booked this one) both times for the All Sparkling Flight with an added Cheese Plate pairing. You can easily book tastings in advance through Cellarpass, which I highly recommend doing before you head over to the winery (at least a day in advance). It was such a lovely sunny day outside both days and the seating was well-spaced. When the sun got a little too much for my sis, they were kind enough to move the umbrellas over her so she didn't roast. The tasting set up was so lovely as well. It looked so nice and fancy, and was equally as tasty. Each wine was paired nicely with a different cheese. We both really don't like blue cheese / roquefort cheese, so Russell was nice enough to replace that with some chocolates that paired well with that particular wine. The second time around, there was another cheese available and Russell kindly paired that particular wine with a new cheese. Russell was extremely knowledgeable about all the wines and cheeses. Note, you can go to Oliver's over in Windsor and buy some of the delicious cheese you taste at the winery (we stopped by on our way out - I recommend the Laychee goat/sheep cheese). Our glasses were always full with the next tasting as Russell was always ready with the next one once we finished. He also let us try some additional tastings that we ended up loving. Russell knew which ones to recommend to us that we would like and we ended up buying a few of them. My favorite wines that I ended up buying were Blanc de Noirs, Demi-sec, Cuvee XB, Rosé of Pinot Noir, and Pinot Gris. I also joined the wine club and found two cute wine glasses in the gift shop that I really liked. While we were tasting, we also took turns looking around the winery and vineyard, taking lovely pics of the vineyards, ponds, and fountains. They have some great spots for taking pictures among the vines and grapes, as well as a beautiful archway and bridge leading up to the winery. Also, major kudos for being dog-friendly as my Lilo was totally welcome the whole time we were there and everyone thought she was super cute. In my humble opinion, this gets five stars. Mostly for stellar service, but everything else was literally perfect as well. I'll def be back for a third time and more! Thinking it would be a great place to celebrate my birthday!
