"After its opening was pushed back due to as-yet-unnamed delays, the Houston outpost of Jack & Ginger’s is set to arrive at 2416 Brazos Street in Midtown, joining the original Jack & Ginger’s that opened in Austin in 2015. A project of Union Venture Group, the bar will be a destination for beer — more than 82 different brews will be on offer — and traditional pub grub. When it debuts, diners can look forward to dishes like Guinness-battered fish and chips, shepherd’s pie, and potato skins. The Houston location will also serve an “Irish-style” burger topped with Irish cheddar and crispy potatoes, along with avocado hummus. On Sundays, a brunch buffet will take over the restaurant, and early-morning boozers will be able to build their own Irish coffees and Bloody Marys, then pair those drinks with dishes like maple-butter biscuit sandwiches and a BLT sandwiched between two cheesy waffles." - Amy McCarthy

I think it was an off day. Lots of potentials, but something didn't work. They have a huge selection of beers and the food was good. It was hard to get service and the sound of the TV was so high that we couldn't have a conversation. I think I'll give it another try though

Great food!!! Got to try the fish and chips, the amazing pretzels (with 4 different salts - classic, ghost pepper, truffle, and chili lime), and you HAVE to try the Irish breakfast!! Side note - going to be a perfect place to watch some footy ⚽️!

Cool place to have a few drinks. Service is a bit slow but very friendly. I would recommend this place.

Walked by here on my way to another local bar. Came back because I knew I had to try it. If any of the Houston locals miss Gorgeous Gael in Rice Village, we’ll make this new spot! The bar staff was very attentive to every patrons needs. You have two options of stations at the outside bar or going to the inside bar. There’s darts, and board games, giant connect 4, Golden Tee outside along with plenty of televisions to keep you entertained. The beer selection is definitely up there with The Ginger Man. They have spirits too. Food is pretty good. Opted for the chicken Cobb salad. Above Jack & Ginger’s, is 77 Degrees . I’ll definitely be coming back here for my weekend and bar hopping escapades. Shout out to Stephanie!!!

Went to watch a soccer game, it was earlier in the morning (around 10:30am) so there were only a handful of people there. They have a ton of options for beers on tap, which is great, however the two I attempted ordering were out. We moved to a table and ordered some food, the jumbo pretzel was delicious, but again a few of us ordered different drinks and they were also out of those too. The waitress seemed new, she was friendly enough but service was super slow.

We went here on Thursday, Feb 21, 2019 around 6:00pm. About 1/3 of the tables and bar was full inside and nobody was outside as it was kind of cold and rainy. We ordered a house red, a cider and a pretzel to start off followed by a few sides (mashed potatoes and green beans) and two more glasses of beer and wine. It was happy hour. The menu said the house red was $5 and selected appetizers were $5 and they had a special on Texas beers. When we got the check we were charged $12 per glass of wine (small pours by the way). I mentioned to the bartender that the house red was supposed to be $5 a glass and he just said that is not what she ordered. I said she asked for house red and he didn't answer. I didn't want to argue, so I paid and left. This irks me as I specifically remember her pointing out the special on the menu and ordering a house red (that is what she always orders anyway). The food and atmosphere is actually pretty good and the bartender was nice, but I feel like I got totally scammed.

The best Irish pub I’ve been to in Houston hands down. The build out really looks great, when the weather is good this place will be awesome, the food is very good as the menu takes a fresh approach to the classics ( try the giant pretZel bread), and the staff is friendly and fun. Love this place already. I can’t wait to see what it’s like during rugby and soccer world cups.
