The dinner had a very vintage look to it which was very nostalgic. We got a large poutine and still felt like the portion was a bit small but it was still good. Would recommend the chicken wings with the honey and garlic sauce it was very tasty.

Google
Their food is delicious, however we have just witnessed a very bad reaction from one of its employees apparently during rest hours) With a client. When placing our order, the cashier was also very unfriendly ... it would be much more pleasant to customer service.

Last month i went therr and asked for 2 piece of chicken and a poutine. When they served me my food i noticed there was no gravy. So i asked them where it was and they told me it was extra. In what world does dry fried chicken not come with gravy? So i asked them to refund my meal. Their answer was to give me a cup of gravy for free. Regardless of the kindness of the person at service that day, this was the last time i ever step foot in a Jack le coq. Their greed left a sour after taste in my mouth. (Next time charge extra for utensils too and ask people if they want the batter on their chicken at an extra cost)

Food is great, the service is fast, employees are nice and it's always clean. The quality of the chicken is what I like mostly.

Google
The food was delicious! The vibe is great! The service was friendly! Our chicken burgers were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside (exactly how a great chicken burger should be)! The onion rings on the side were a great touch! Not overly salty or oily, but incredibly crunchy and yummy! I highly recommend this place and will be back!

Google
The mark is 4 stars due to the frozen fries and below average non homemade gravy. This Verdun cute 50’s style décor fried chicken restaurant, once a Dunkin Doughnuts location, has quickly made itself a good reputation in the Verdun neighbourhood. FOOD: Chicken: I tried the two piece chicken box that included a delicious highly seasoned thick gravy, a generous portion of the « Mac n cheese » as my side, and two pieces of chicken - a drumstick and a thigh. - The Mac n cheese was creamy, the noodles were a little soft which added to the smooth texture while still having a little bite to the noodles. - The sauce was very similar to KFC, and you can easily tell that this is not home made as it was overly thick and not physically like a gravy. It was a very strong seasoning similar to KFC, but more spicy and peppery. It was actually decent when dipped with the chicken but not a sauce I would brag about. - The chicken was the star as it was perfectly cooked, crispy, had some crunch, and nicely seasoned. It’s so well seasoned it really does not need the gravy at all. The seasoning of the breading actually tasted similar to KFC (like the gravy) but it was little more spicy than KFC. The big difference is KFC had a gross amount of breaded fat and chicken and the pieces are very small as well as greasy and often KFC chicken is just unpleasant to eat. I don’t know about the white meat or strips, but I did notice the french fries and they looked just like the cheap average frozen (McCain like) fries at Au Coq - I suggest avoiding the fries and go for the Mac n Cheese. The restaurant was in good order, service was friendly and genuine while also being exact and prompt with the order. I had a chance to speak with Tony, the owner of this Verdun franchise location and he genuinely wanted to know how i enjoyed the food, made a genuine effort typo speak about how proud he is of his franchise and how much he loves the organization and the products he serves - and his children love it as well “kid tested and approved”. So I think this place is a defined repeat. I would also say to the parent company (Le Groupe Abbatiello), the choice of french fry is the weakest link in the offering and given the love of fries and poutine, whatever your sales are - i would almost guarantee you that if you would provide a real frenchfried potato or a close enough frozen product your sales would increase by at least 22%. I do not know what gravy is being used for the poutine, but if it is the same as the chicken - again, another weak point. Your gravy should not giggle, it should move in a naturally liquified manner. My guess is that it is a powder mix or some prepared product to reduce franchise error and quality control issues… I strongly urge you to improve on the gravy and think about something that people would at least believe was a fresh product. So to all, good eating and be patient with your servers. And thank you Tony for a great meal.

Very good ambiance!! I loved the staff. The main person at the entrance was so welcoming and kind to us. Also the food is amazing ! Let me tell you, you won’t taste as good fried chicken no where else ❤️

Google
Ok this place had no business being this good. Jack Classic burger was the most tender, crisp, bootylicious burger I’ve ever had. Robyn who greeted us was the kindest soul. Good throwback tracks were being played all night.

Yelp
Tonight we got the 4 tender trio with fries and the classic burger, as well as a side Mac & cheese, an apple turnover and their donuts. To start, the fries are just ok, really nothing special at all, like McCain crinkle cuts. The mac & cheese was tasty, but the portion was very small for the price. The burger was nice, good ratio of veg to burger. The tenders were generous in size and crunchy. Chicken inside was nice, flavour was good, if not slightly bland. Their honey mustard sauce is yummy. Their gravy is very peppery, which isn't my favourite. The Apple turnover had a bit too much cinnamon, and the donuts were the star of this meal for me.

Yelp
Yum!! I think I have found my new favorite fried chicken place so move over other chicken places :p I walked in on a busy Sunday supper time and there was a constant trickle of people stopping by. Conveniently located on a visible corner of the street, it's hard to miss Jack Le Coq. I ordered at the counter and I kid you not, I checked the time from when I paid for my order to when I had a box of hot out of the fryer chicken in hand and it was 6 minutes!! Your receipt has an order number printed on it so they just call out your number when bringing out the order. Talk about efficient! I was prepared to wait much longer. Once home, I tore into the bone-in pieces... Soooo good. I liked their seasoning it's gently seasoned. This is where I cheat and eat that chicken skin. It's fattening but who cares? It's worth it. Then there's the round fries, slather it with gravy and you have a recipe for why-can't-I-stop-eating-these-even-though-I'm-stuffed!?! I'm usually not a big fan of gravies (like St Hubert's, Scores, KFC, etc.) but this one was just right. No sour tang, no veggie aftertaste, just pure gravy seasoned with black pepper. I love the addition of the mini breads--they're so soft, squishy and lightly toasted on the grill with some butter. The coleslaw is so creamy and a delicious side. The buttery corn was quite good. Everyone loved the spicy mayo dip... It's not very spicy though, just enough for your tongue to tingle. Imma fan!!! I'll definitely hit up this place whenever I'm nearby (if my waistline allows it)!

Yelp
It literally just opened today so I understand that they are still trying to find their feet. Taking up residence at the building that housed the last free-standing Dunkin'Donuts in Quebec , on Wellington Ave. In Verdun, the newest resident to take this place is Jack Le Coq, a newish Québécois try at fast-food fried chicken. Verdun used to have a Kentucky Fried Chicken a few years ago until they closed. There are a few Korean fried chicken outfits in the neighbourhood like Comon (which is excellent) , Moa Moa(haven't tried it yet) so I guess there is space for Québécois-styled fried chicken in Verdun . Not Southern, not Nashville, not Kentucky, not Korean, this fried chicken was just sort of underwhelming . I found that there was too much fat still left underneath the crispy skin layer for my liking. Maybe others like it but I'm not a fan. The side dish of Mac'n Cheese could have come straight out of the Kraft box if I didn't know any better. The round puffy chip fries were very good though. If you have hot sauce at home, then you're set with the chips. They have other stuff on their menu like chicken tenders, meal boxes, family meals, a whole slew of fried chicken sandwiches, poutine and even a soft ice-cream bar which I can see becoming popular in the summer. I don't see myself becoming a regular here but at least there's more options now in Verdun. They also offer home delivery and take-out.

Yelp
Good place for burger. Price is average, and got confused for first time when they listed combo and trio. Combo doesn't include drink. But waitress is helpful and give me two cups for drinks. The taste is great.

Yelp
Woooow the fried chicken has really taken off in our city ! There are so many new places popping up and Jack le coq is o e you should all add to your list. The line up may seem intimidating but it moves quickly. I had gotten two sandwiches and the chicken was juicy and crispy. The hot honey sauce is a must with your sides and I guarantee you'll want to add it on everything. They have quite a few choices for sides I happened to try the fries and mac and cheese and they were pretty good I suggest the Mac and cheese for sure! If you're feeling picky and don't want a sandwich they also have tenders which are equally as good as the sandwiches. This meal was one of the least expensive ones on my tour of Montreal's fried chicken but it's great value so if your in verdun and want a super tasty and filling fried chicken meal head on over here !

Yelp
We tried the jack honey sandwhich as well as the 2 pieces combo with coleslaw, gravy and round fries. The jack honey sandwhich was amazingly good. It was juicy, sweet and creamy. The bread was soft and there was a lot of meat. It would have been perfect if it was actually spicy. I couldn't taste the spice at all. The round fries were very interesting and the coleslaw very creamy. The chicken pieces were too oily and hard for me. Almost 30% of the piece was batter. The service was quick and the staff were friendly. Would definitely come back but just for the sandwhich.

Yelp
I've been to a few places for fried chicken but I must say this is special. I really enjoyed it. Very retro diner style which put a smile on my face. We decided we were going to eat outside on the bench so we took it to go. Different varieties of good ole southern fried chicken, yummy! My friend and I are pretty much on the same page so we put 2 orders of spicy chicken tenders with A choice of sauces. I chose Franks hot sauce and my friend chose one up which was called flame. Lol. The servings are generous and delicious. I'm not big on coleslaw but everything fit together for my palette. Oh oh I forgot about the side order of Mac and cheese, so very good. Staff are polite, music is good. I am definitely returning when I crave fried chicken. When you want Spicy or not this is the place. Thumbs up people!

Yelp
Best crispy chicken sandwich I've had in a long time! I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich and it was soo good!! The staff was friendly, the manager was friendly even the customers I spoke too while waiting in-line were friendly. I've already recommended to friends to visit and come back. Can't wait!!

Yelp
Jack Le Coq offered us a wonderful twist on fried chicken! This cute little spot in Verdun has incredibly fast service and very nice staff! The employee offered us free cakes and made sure our order was 100% at our taste! The atmosphere of the restaurant will remind you of a diner, it is very cute! We ordered the Buffalo and the Honey sandwiches. They both came with round fries for 8.95$ and for 1.25$ more, you can add a drink. Both burgers were very juicy and filled with sauce but not too greasy. We also ordered 4 pieces of chicken tenders with the Fire Honey sauce and the chicken by itself is honestly a 10/10. The ingredients were fresh, the bun is very tasty as well and the sauces accompany the chicken deliciously. The price is more than right, as everything we ordered with taxes and tips came up to 40$. Jack le Coq is DEFINITELY worth the try!

Yelp
I am not too fond of meat, but my boyfriend swears that Jack Le Coq has the best fried chicken that he ever had in Montreal. Why not to try it? It's located on Wellington street, in a corner of Verdun. The restaurant is so adorable; pink color flashing all over; tables are set like the dinner settings of the 50s or 60s. I am already intrigued by its cover. We ordered 4 chicken pieces combo which comes with fries, gravy and coleslaw. It was a takeout. The smell from the box was unfair to my belly, because I was ready to devour them. After we got home, I was in love with the box itself. Nicely designed, in and out. Finally, getting to the meal. The fried chickens were tender and delicious, and what made me happy, it wasn't super oily like KFC style. The fries were perfect. The gravy was good and not salty as other places. And the coleslaw was the creamiest ever. So yeah, my boyfriend is right, it's one the best fried chicken restaurant in our beloved Montreal. I am happy, that they are opening more franchises.

Yelp
Super crunchy, flavourful and moist chicken. The inside is super cute. They make the food fresh as the order comes in, the staff is lovely. I had the Buffalo burger. It was spicy in the right way but the blue cheese sauce on it was shelf overpowering and I'd recommend you get it without it. My friend got the original tenders and they were just as delicious without the sauce. The only reason It's not getting five is because the optics point is a sorta expensive! I'll be going again

Yelp
Basically the Chick-Fil-A of quebec, the food was Excellent and the service was fast! Can't ask for more than that. I got the Honey Jack Combo and it was delicious, the level of spiciness was perfectly adequate not overwhelming at all The fries were meh.

Yelp
Not to do a direct comparison but this place def beats Bucky Roosters hands (wings?) down. The chicken was crispy & tasty. For the same cost (~$8) you get a FULL sandwich instead of a mini chicken sandwich, which is appreciated. The chicken poutine was also very tasty, with the gravy having a distinct chicken stock taste. Fav new fried chicken joint in my area!

Yelp
avoid like the plague. they obviously don't cook their chicken for long enough cause myself and my partner got sick AF after eating here. MUCH BETTER fried chicken options in Verdun, and for less money as well. will never go back.
google avatar

Yelp
First visit feels like Quebecer twist on a Tennessee hot chicken trend that's hitting America. Chicken tenders were crispy tender, juicy, and voluminous. Jack sauce was ok, kind of like mustard base sauce. Fries are disc style as can see in photo. Onion rings were great and crispy. It's a shame they didn't have mac and cheese today was sure it would be good.

Yelp
Okay, it was hard to give them a 3 star because the food that was done right was out of this world. It's just I have ordered two times and both times we were missing part of our order. They came back with the items; but I get really excited when a place can get it right the first time. The chicken tenders are the way to go at this place, they are lightly crisp and very tasty. The sides are okay Fries: both times soggy Coleslaw: standard Mac n cheese: opinions were mixed on this. Some some Onion rings: A big hit Corn: corny Honestly, they are worth a try! I just hope that it goes better for you than it did for me. I honestly hope that it's just growing pains and they will run more smoothly soon.

GrubbinWithGes M.

Yelp
Onion rings were fantastic, fries were tasty, the Mac and cheese was really flavourful also! The inside of the space was SUPER cute. LOVED the burger, thought there was a lot of flavour coming through from the sauces. The chicken however wasn't as crunchy as I would've liked, and I do think the chicken itself wasn't as flavourful as it could've been. Overall in the burger, it all worked out, and was the perfect spice. Would definitely recommend and go back to try their other burgers !

Ron J.

Yelp
save your money and order somewhere else. all they have is chicken legs, its the cheapest part of the chicken i ordered the family meal i got 6 chicken legs cut into two pieces a crinkle cut french fry (so frozen food) and a cheese macaroni bill was 81.70 next time im lazy ill just get a rotisserie chicken at i.g.a. for 12.99 since you asked for more i sent a email venting my disatisfation and did not get any reply and that was to both the restaurant and the head office.....

Britney J.

Yelp
Appreciate the vegan option (veganoman burger), but it was just okay and definitely not worth the high price. My mom had the original fried chicken combo box, it was nice and crispy but thewhole thing was lacking flavor. We also had the apple pies, which are depp fried, and they were not good. They smelled like onion rings and were soo greasy.

Jean-marco B.

Yelp
What happened? Tried this place last year, ordered the Jack classic with the round fries. Chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The creamy house sauce combined with the dill pickles, lettuce, tomatoes and thinly sliced red onion, sandwiched between two buttery buns, felt like finally someone got it right, a great chicken sandwich. Which brings us to now, they did not have the puffy crispy light round fries? ok, a little detail that sets them apart from the competition. Instead they gave me the wavy fries lukewarm, similar to the kind you have delivered from Saint-Hubert bbq in the dead of winter for a company lunch. The chicken was crispy and dryer then a dead camel in the desert sun, no amount of sauce could hide that fact. What happened to the standards, the consistency? But most of all the love for saving the cows?
