"Jack Ruby’s Saloon in the West End is new; things are soft this week, and it will host a grand opening on New Year’s Eve. The spot is owned by Joe Groves, the man behind Ellen’s in the same neighborhood, CultureMap Dallas reports. The idea is to address the lack of places to hear country bands play in Dallas proper (for the folks who are too chicken to head to Deep Ellum and check out Adair’s, presumably). It will feature live music most nights and serve lunch and dinner daily. The bar’s collection of whiskeys runs deep in honor of its namesake." - Courtney E. Smith

I never leave reviews online but the burger i had at Jack Ruby’s saloon is worth mentioning. Everything about the burger was great; best burger i’ve had at a restaurant in a while. Check it out the Bacon and mushroom burger after your trip to the Texas Book Depository

Great little bar and grill. Stopped by in the early afternoon was not busy, waitress got our drink Orders right away, recommend the Lemon drop martini. The food came out quickly and was delicious. Would go back. Only negative is no desert. Would go back.

Wow, wow, wow!! This is my new favorite spot in all of Dallas. Live music is a huge plus. Super friendly staff. But it's the food that makes this place special. I'm going to confidently say it they have some of the best Chicken Wings in not only Dallas but all of Texas. The BBQ as well as the Salt N Vinegar wings are out of this World!!! The Texas Hot dog is also outstanding they use a Hummel brand hot dog from Connecticut and it's the best of the best. Overall an outstanding establishment and can't wait to make it back. Already craving the wings and I ate them two days in a row! 👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We ordered pimento cheese and this came out. It taste like old queso and they only filled the bowl 1/4 cup. Definitely not your moneys worth. The brisket was dry on the nachos. The dr. Pepper was definitely not Dr. Pepper. Taste like flat RC Cola. The service wasn’t good. We sit there for a bit before getting menus. Drove over an hour here and we ended up going somewhere else.

Very disappointing experience at this restaurant. My family was visiting from out of town and heard good things about this place. We walked in after spending the morning at the Dallas aquarium. We ordered a burger, wedge salad, hot dog, and chicken sandwich. It took about an hour for all our food to come out and at three separate times. My son’s burger was brought out first (by mistake from another table’s order) and our server ended up saying he could keep it and our food would be out shortly. About 20 minutes later by the time my son was finished my salad arrived. We were still missing my husband and daughter’s food. I went ahead and ate my salad and when I was finishing my lunch the rest of the food arrived. This was about 45 minutes after our order had been placed and the restaurant was not busy by any means. The hot dog had mustard on it which we had told the server to omit when we placed our order. When asked if we could get a new hot dog with just ketchup as originally ordered and keep the fries (our daughter was so hungry at this point) the server seemed annoyed. She brought us a new hot dog within a few minutes…drowning in ketchup, about 3 times the amount that was on the original hot dog, looking sloppy and gross overall. They were clearly annoyed we had requested a new one. This place has a fun overall bar atmosphere and an area for a live band. Maybe for a night out drinking it’s great but for a family meal they totally missed the mark.

While in Dallas, we chose to stop at Jack Ruby's Saloon after visiting the JFK Museum. This allowed us to have some drinks and to talk about and process what we had seen, read and heard at the museum. Nice saloon. Great customer service.

Another gem in West End. Staffs are welcoming & attentive. Awesome drinks & cold beer served in frozen glass is perfect to beat DTX heat. Try their secret beer! Foods are delicious with reasonable price. Our favorites are BLT & brisket sliders. Good country music selections playing all day long & live country musicians at certain nights. It is also a good place to watch sports with 3 big screen TVs above bar area. Pet friendly.

Yelp
Not for locals, but a good spot overall. You know your are in a tourist zone when the first question is where are you from. The staff was very friendly though and we really enjoyed the visit. We order the queso Blanco with pork rinds. It was okay queso, but not up to the standard of what we are used to. Perfect for tourists who can't stand any spice. The Wedge salad was pretty basic. Not many toppings, but the chicken we added was fresh and juicy. Overall we won't be back unless we just wanted some beers and maybe some wings. We saw those ordered and they looked delicious.

Yelp
We went to the 6th floor museum to take people from out of town so of course the name of this restaurant caught our eye. We decided to take a chance. When you walk in, it seems dark and we were worried it was closed, but we just made it in before the lunch rush. The waitress was great, very responsive to requests and brought things even before we needed them. The food was really really good and the prices were reasonable. The BLT was excellent and the tater tots were perfect, crispy but still soft on the inside. We didn't have drinks, but will next time!

Yelp
Came here after a long day in class, the breakfast is pretty good. Straight to the point options, and it didn't take long for it to come out. I had a bug in mimosas but my waitress was super sweet, got me a fresh clean glass, new drink without any complaints lol. I do want to come here later in the evening to check out the vibes.

Yelp
A great little place to visit next to the sixth floor museum. Food was typical bar food but tasty. The service was fine.

Yelp
My sister and I were looking for a place to have a bite to eat after visiting the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum. This place fit the bill just around the corner a block or two away. It wasn't too busy on a Saturday afternoon and we had our choice of seating in the open establishment. I opted for the crispy chicken sandwich w/ tater tots and my sister got the crispy taco plate. We were both pleased with our selections. Our server and bartender was very attentive. They had a huge selection of beers and cocktails including NA. My sister got the mystery beer and a shot of Fireball for $6. She got 3 guesses but couldn't guess the draft beer. Never did find out because apparently they have a NDA but it was good so she had another. Nice covered enclosed outdoor patio area with picnic tables with a section for smoking. A band was scheduled to perform but they were just getting there when we left. It's a fun little spot for that area.

Yelp
Their burger and tots is the best in town. I hear it is the Kentucky UK alumni bar as well. Great staff and easy parking!

Yelp
Great place for a bit of live music and some drinks! Had a mystery beer and shot! Trevor Tyrrell is the bomb!

Mirna R.

Yelp
Food was good. Went during lunch with co-worker, the service was slow but we made it back on time. Patio area was nice and shaded but fans will be better to beat the heat. But we will be back to check out Happy Hour

Matt T.

Yelp
great food . The Hummel Bros. hot dog is the best in DFW. The bologna sandwich is a better version of the ones my Aunt use to make.

Vicky E.

Yelp
No longer serving brunch, but they do have delicious lunch/dinner options! Happy hour is from 4pm-7pm and they have many great options!

Yelp
Welcome Jack Ruby's! West End was sorely in need of a 'divey', after-work, late-night, honky-tonk joint, and the team that runs Ellen's has delivered! The beer and whiskey selection is great, daily specials as well, and the food is on point. Small menu, but everything is done well, and it is a honky-tonk...all we ask for is something to hit the spot quickly so we can get back to the booze and the music. Acoustics are good, outside deck area has tables, TVs and is covered. Looking forward to the summer at Jack Ruby's!

Yelp
Horrible experience had by our party of 10 and most of the other patrons. It was bizarre. The staff was hustling around trying their best but there were only about 5 tables. It seemed as if the establishment was very poorly managed and the staff were all working for their first day in the restaurant business. The sign at the front door asked patrons to wait to be seated but no one was tending to the door. I watched 3 groups wait at the door and then leave confused. Food was as expected, typical pub grub. Total wait time for food was about 60 minutes.

Yelp
The atmosphere, the food, and the drinks were all fun and great! I went in with a giant group for kids volleyball tournament and the staff was great and accommodating. I went in later by myself for some adult time and it was even greater. The bourbon, whiskey, and beer selection was great. The staff offered a few drinks that weren't on the menu either. This place is great and I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
We planed a Saturday brunch date and got there 1:45 pm and was told that They had stop surging brunch. So I have no idea if it's good or not. It was hardly no one in there

Clint C.

Yelp
Was here on convention and ate at bar 2 nights. Service was awesome! Food was brought out supper quick. Beers were extremely cold and fairly priced. Had 1 man bad each night. Several tvs to watch different games on. Has inside and outside seating! Definitely would return when back in area!

Katie F.

Yelp
The service was decent. The distance from the JFK tour was excellent, and the dog-friendly outdoor seating was nice. The beer was super cold and perfect. The food was meh. No frills, nothing to recommend. Not a great location for vegetarian and definitely not vegan. It's a very limited menu with little ability to modify, which is fine and not different than advertised. The indoor vibe was cool and probably a good place for a drink and music. The bathrooms were clean.

Tanya B.

Yelp
The service is amazing, the entertainment was on point and the vibes here are amazing. I wish I found this spot sooner. And you can take the train here!! Extra love to YayaO! It was a good night.

Jacareya T.

Yelp
Love this place great environment love the live entertainment, they have a great choice of food my favorite is the hot dogs and the brisket chili frito pie. Don't forget the drinks they have wide variety. They are swift with making things right as well. The service is up there 5 stars I will be back

Yelp
Come here all the time. Food is decent. Staff is great. Couple TVs, live music...what more do you want?

Yelp
Went to grab lunch and walked from my hotel. Locks were changed today due to non payment. 7/23/24

Yelp
Very comfortable and friendly place. Live music, lots of room, excellent beer and whiskey selection and good prices. Limited food menu, mainly burgers and sandwiches, but great place to hang. Good outside deck as well. If in the area just check it out.

Breanne C.

Yelp
The food is amazing!! The burgers are so juicy and by far the best fries ever ! The inside is super cute.
