Jack Stack at the Plaza is a must-stop every time I’m in Kansas City. The service is always friendly, attentive, and super knowledgeable about the menu. The barbecue never disappoints-especially the burnt ends and the corn, which are absolute musts. Great food, great vibes, and a solid spot for a date night. There’s also a bar area with TVs if you want to hang out, eat, and have a drink. Always recommend this place, and I’ll keep coming back!

Google
magnificent absolutely fantastic barbecue! now understand what a wonderful surprise this was as a long-time Texan very familiar and acquainted with strong barbecue. this Kansas City barbecue experience was absolutely over the top. not only were all of the meats perfection, but the sides were masterful and possibly the biggest surprise was the elevated ambiance as well as excellent service. this was unexpected, delicious and downright fantastic - run don't walk to this establishment and do that running before you eat because afterward you're going to feel like you can't move from all this yummy goodness of in your tummy!

Jack Stack in the Plaza sets the bar high. The burnt ends were smoky and tender with just enough crisp edges to make them addictive. The baby back ribs were cooked perfectly and pulled apart with ease while still being meaty and flavorful. The baked beans stood out too with a rich sweet and savory taste that I kept going back to. Service was excellent from start to finish. Even though the restaurant was packed our food came quickly and everyone we spoke to was welcoming and helpful. The setting is polished but comfortable and it felt like the perfect spot to enjoy a full barbecue spread. This is the kind of meal that makes you understand why Kansas City is known for its barbecue.

Google
We’re from Texas so I was surprised by the “fancy” atmosphere at a barbecue place but this place was amazing. We shared one of the family platters and it was all delicious. My mom and i loved the glazed baby back ribs. Other favorites were the onion rings, corn bread and bbq shrimp and their coleslaw. Everything cooked perfectly and flavor was incredible. This place is a solid BBQ joint.

Service was great—our server was kind, attentive, and everything came out quickly. The beef burnt ends are always my favorite! Overall, it was a really nice dining experience with tasty food and wine, perfect for a date night.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jack Stack BBQ on the Plaza is proof that Kansas City takes its BBQ seriously — and then makes it classy. The space is beautiful: upscale yet cozy, the kind of place where you feel just as comfortable in jeans as you would in a jacket. From the moment I sat down, bartender Hannah made our afternoon. Warm, funny, and spot-on with recommendations, she kicked things off with a “Family Fashioned” — their spin on the old fashioned, made with local J. Rieger private stock bourbon. If happiness came in a glass, this would be it. 🥃🔥 Then came the burnt ends. Oh. My. Goodness. Perfectly tender, smoky, and downright addictive. Pair that with the famous cheesy corn — which I’m pretty sure was engineered by angels in a test kitchen — and you’ve got yourself a plate of BBQ heaven. I loved it so much I went back… multiple times. (Yes, it’s that good.) If you’re in Kansas City and don’t make a stop at Jack Stack, you might as well admit you didn’t really experience KC. This is a guaranteed win for food, drinks, and service that will have you planning your next visit before you even leave.

The wait staff was great. The fried mushrooms are so good but they're Giant. In the future I wouldn't get such a large order. I did the pick two entrees with two sides. Definitely got my money's worth. I got the burnt ends with the barbecue brisket very well quotes nice taste nice barbecue sauce not overdone. Excellent recommendations by our server. I would definitely go here again. There was a 45-minute wait if you're going to eat here I would definitely make reservations or call ahead. My bill was $80 that was with tip and I had two mixed drinks and an appetizer and a pick two entree meal. I had two meals out of it. Portions were big and the breaded and fried mushrooms were the biggest I've ever seen. The wait staff was very accommodating. They were on top of our needs and refills.

Google
Everything was absolutely amazing! We started with their giant mushrooms and they were amazing! My husband had the brisket loaded baked potato and I had the smoked chicken. Service was top notch and the restaurant was very clean. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Jack Stack in the Plaza was everything I wanted in Kansas City barbecue. The burnt ends were melt in your mouth with that deep smoky flavor that makes you close your eyes for a second. The baby back ribs were tender and came right off the bone but still had that perfect bite. The baked beans were some of the best I have had with layers of flavor that tasted slow cooked and rich. The service was friendly and the whole place had an easygoing energy even though it was busy. Our server checked in often enough without ever making us feel rushed. Between the food and the atmosphere this felt like a true Kansas City experience. I would come back just for the burnt ends and beans but everything we tried was worth it.

Yelp
Jack Stack BBQ in plaza was highly recommended by everyone we talked to while looking for good BBQ/ burnt end restaurants in Kansas City. The service was nice and staff were excellent, we got seated surprisingly quick as this seems like a fairly popular restaurant (no longer than a 5 minute wait). The food was good/ ok and had large portions. We ordered the Mac and cheese, baked potato with beef burnt ends, pork and beef burnt ends with a side of potato salad. Everything thing was a bit under seasoned, including the mac and cheese and potato salad. The Mac and cheese tasted like it was out of the box. The burnt ends were disappointing, I would best explain them as very oily and a bit chewy. The potato salad was very finely chopped and was just straight mayonnaise with tiny pieces of (what I think were) potato. The baked potato tasted like how you would imagine an unsalted baked potato would taste, a bit dry. Over all the staff was very amazing, the food was a bit of disappointment. Staff 4/5 Food 3/5

Yelp
Some good, solid barbecue. I wouldn't considered it the best I've ever had, but they've got the basics down and a few items you don't see a lot of the time. This is a busy spot so you'll most likely be waiting for a seat unless you make a reservation. The food is good, but nothing I haven't tasted before. Overall, a good spot if you're looking for Kansas City barbecue.

Yelp
Jack Stack BBQ came highly recommended by the hotel front desk staff and also the Uber driver so I decided to give it a try. Jack Stack BBQ is located in the city plaza a nice brisk 5 min walk from the Marriott Bonvoy Hotel. The entrance was a little tricky, they have a separate door for take out orders and a restaurant entrance door. The bull statue is in front of entrance door. Once in, you're greeted by the hostess and seated. The interior of the restaurant is clean and nicely lit, not too dark, and seemed pretty quiet. The waitress was friendly and pretty helpful. She came back several times throughout the meal to check how things were doing (how's the sandwich, did I need more ice tea? Etc) Overall pretty good experience and as far as the taste of the pulled pork sandwich, Big Pig, it was pretty good so the recommendations didnt disappoint.

Yelp
A small room compared to other Jack Stacks, but it comes with a familiar layout and solid service. Awesome barbecue, too.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Jack Stack locations because of the great ambiance and fantastic service. The food never disappoints and always tastes amazing. Also, there is great parking located across the street from the restaurant. I always recommend this location and one other to visitors new to KC.

Yelp
I was visiting Kansas City for a few days for work and looked forward to trying their legendary barbecue and brisket. I'm from Hawaii, and "Hawaiian" barbecue is heavy on shoyu--which is funny, because I went from the Shoyu State to the Show Me State! I normally don't eat at chains, but Jack Stack is so close to my hotel and I've heard good things. My colleagues and I decided to come here for dinner, and let me tell you, this place blew our expectations out of the water! Our server was extremely friendly and on top of things. No need to worry about service here, they got you. For dinner we had the 'Cue For Four Jack's Best: smoked prime rib, baby back ribs, sausage and burnt ends plus potato salad, hickory beans, cheesy corn bake, and french fries. We were glad that we didn't order appetizers, because we were STUFFED, and two of us (myself included) are big eaters. The prime rib fell off the bone, just as the server promised. The restaurant is clean, modern and noise levels are moderate. For bigger guys, get a table instead of a booth.

Yelp
The managers were really nice but the food wasn't that great in my opinion. I've had better bbq in CT.
google avatar

Mylene L.

Yelp
I had the burnt ends & most of it was dry. My husband & daughter shared the Roundup. They said that the turkey, main reason for ordering it, was subpar. The mocktail was good. We didn't have dinner reservations but it was early enough & were seated outside. The waiter quickly fixed our wobbly table. The waiters were good on checking in on us though we had to wait while for our bill. The inside dining area looks nice enough.

Yelp
For lunch at Jack Stack I devoured the Monday special - Poor Russ Sandwich. It included a half pound of chopped beef, pork and sausage burnt ends. The meat was beautifully chopped and piled high all for $ 13.50 with fries. The sandwich was a little salty but otherwise great. The fries were merely average. I think Jack Stack could come up with better home fries. I also had smoked jalapeno cornbread. It came with honey butter. It was fantastic. Service was great. Friendly and attentive. The Plaza location is really lovely. It's a nice ambiance.

Yelp
My uncle, mother, and family friends went to the Plaza location today and really enjoyed ourselves. It was a good idea for us to check if we could make reservations online as we needed one and we are so glad it was available. We were sat after running a few minutes late and greeted by our amazing server. She got us our water and jalaprño cornbread and shrimp appetizers. The cornbread was decent, but the shrimp with this spicy tomato based sauce was so good--with little hints of spice and sweetness. For our entree we decided to share the feast for four which came with more meat than I was expecting along with a mix of their classic and signature sides. For a few dollars more you can get a signature side, which we chose broccoli. I was overwhelmed by just the meat alone and it took me a while to dig in. I got a little bit of everything minus a rib. I really loved the grilled chicken--it fell right off the bone, literally. I wish that our sides (we got beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and broccoli) were as ample as the meat as each got a very small spoonful of the sides. We ended up having to order another side of broccoli as what was brought out was not enough for one let alone five. Overall our visit was great. As a suggestion I would have lazy Suzannes for each table to help with serving. Also, there is a great need to regularly replace the soap in the bathroom--otherwise it is very nice.

Yelp
Jack Stack's did NOT disappoint! We ordered our food and it came out fresh and fresh in o time. The restaurant waa loud with all the customers, but not annoyingly! Our waiter, Laken was great! He's only been here 3 weeks; however, he was on top of things, personable and funny!

Yelp
Surprisingly tasty. Two of us stopped by after the shopping walk around the plaza. Pretty packed around 6:30pm. Make your reservation if you want to dine at the dinner time. We started with a spinach salad then combo with trio:lamb ribs, beef burnt ends, and baby back ribs. All so delicious. I'd make a disclaimer that I'm not a typical BBQ fan. The lamb ribs were so tender and flavorful. A tiny bit on salty side so didn't need any sauce. Baby back ribs were equally tender and needed a bit sauce. Beef burnt ends were a bit drier however paired up great with the sauce. Spinach salad was the perfect balance for the meat. A perfect dinner for me. Highly recommended

Yelp
Great adventure. Downtown parking on a early Sunday afternoon was easy. The skillet Jalapeño Cheese cornbread was a great appetizer. More than enough for 4 people and a infant. We had the loaded baked potato, the burnt end entree with fries and baked beans that were brimming with pork, beef and sausage. The burnt ends were fork, falling apart tender pieces of meat, wow! The dipping sauce was mouth watering delicious with just a slight hint of vinegar. Over the moon awesome, could have drank it out of the container. Christopher our server was total efficient, and took care of beverages and food without effort. He had great recommendations for what we were interested in eating. Definitely the best BBQ I've ever eaten. This will be a favorite location for a return visit. My visit will be a two twirling forks up review , and definitely worth the experience and ambience!

Yelp
The ambiance was great. It was dimly lit, quiet and intimate. You could smell the smoker at work, which some may not like, but I thought it helped with authenticity. We only ordered starters and by far the barbecue shrimp and the jalapeño cheddar cornbread were the best! The shrimp flavor packed a punch and was cooked to perfection. The cornbread was moist and delicious. Unfortunately they fell short with The wings and the burnt ends. They were dry and forgettable. It felt like it was left in a forgotten corner in the smoker and pulled last minute. All that being said, If I come back to Kansas City I'm coming for the carrot cake. It's literally the best carrot cake I ever had. It comes warm and glazed. It's not too sweet but rich in flavor. Overall we had a great experience and would eat here again.

Yelp
Food: got the Roundup, which was a great sampler. It's a lot of food for two people, but finish-able. The beans were particularly good. The sauce comes out in tiny ramekins (not a squeeze bottle). Service: Food came out quickly. Ambiance: Someone described Jack Stack as a BBQ restaurant and Joe's as a BBQ joint. That makes a lot of sense, as Jack Stack feels like a sit-down chain restaurant. There are probably lots of different kinds of BBQ experiences in the Kansas City area. Sat at a table near the bar. It was pretty loud with (drunk?) people. There was a piece of carpet that had been stuck onto the bottom of the table. Not sure why, not sure I want to know why... All in all, pretty tasty food.

Yelp
So close, but not a 5 star BBQ joint. I went twice this week. Once by myself and the next night with a group of eight from our meeting. Everyone raved about the sides, but the reviews of the meats are hit and miss. I had both beef and pork burnt ends the first night. They were tasty, but honestly the burnt ends at True Texas BBQ (in many HEBs) are better. And the sauce is on the sweet side. The second night I had pulled pork and smoked turkey. The pork was good, but I agreed with my colleague that the turkey tasted like deli smoked turkey. The sides were very good. The cheesy corn is very addictive. Like thick cheese soup with sweet corn. And the potato bake is an au gratin of sorts made with thin sliced red potatoes. Quite delicious. Service was good on both nights.

Yelp
We were in town for the Nebraska/Cincinnati (go Huskers (hubby go UC) and this was relatively close to our hotel when we were wanting some barbecue. 10 minute wait (middle of the day due to all the fans in town). I had the pulled pork Mac n cheese (really yummy - wish it was a bit bigger (I'd trade for my fries, which were still too dipped in honey chipotle bbq). Hubby had the Big Pig sandwich which he said was very good as well! Server even helped us with a couple more local recommendations for tomorrow!
google avatar

Sophie W.

Yelp
Jack Stack did not disappoint! Growing up in Texas, I'm picky about BBQ, but this place took me right back home. so many people recommended it and now I totally understand why. It's more upscale than your typical BBQ joint, a mix between classy and cozy. I'd dress a little nicer, but nothing too fancy. Service was a bit slow, but our waitress was so sweet and me and my boyfriend were just enjoying each other's company so we didn't mind. Now, the food was INSANE. The pulled pork mac and cheese was so delicious and my boyfriend's burnt ends and brisket seriously melted in your mouth. If you're in KC, do not skip over this place!

Yelp
Coming to Kansas City, you have to try the BBQ! But my wife did not like the idea of a grab and go, but rather a sitting, chilling with an upscale vibe. Enter Jack Stack, located in the trendy downtown shopping area district. The restaurant has a steakhouse feel, yet also an easygoing. The staff is friendly, and surprisingly the food is fast. We had the beef tips and sausage appetizer (good flavor. Small size so you won't spoil your dinner) great flavor Food was delicious with wife having the Lamb ribs (a bit too oily and too salty for her taste) but good flavor. I was ravenous, so I had the a trio of beef ribs, baby back ribs, and brisket with a side of their cheesy potato (it's potato gratin) and a side of the crown beef ribs (added charge). The brisket was ok, a bit dry for my taste but tasty. Beef ribs and crown beef rib were really good. The price is reasonable for the area, comparable to a mid steak house. A recommend.

Yelp
Nothing brings on more debate than BBQ. Whether it's about where it's from... Texas, KC, or STL or the sauce, or how it's cooked. But I love Jack Stack! I love other places too, but this place has delivered both of the times I've eaten here and we had a big group of eaters. Everyone loved their meals. My favorite here are the Burnt Ends, but you can't go wrong with any of their entrees. We will be back and I will continue to recommend it to friends.
google avatar

Kathryn M.

Yelp
Went for lunch and got the BBQ for two platter so we could try as much as possible. The platter came with turkey breast, pulled pork, brisket and ribs. Sides included cheesy corn, baked beans and coleslaw. It was realistically more like at least 4 servings of food. My husband and I hardly bit a dent in it for lunch and enjoyed the leftovers just as much I always look forward to mac n cheese with bbq so I was disappointed to not see it on the menu but I didn't miss it when I tried the cheesy corn. The brisket was our favorite meat and all the sides were too good to choose a favorite. Service was also very good and atmosphere was quite elevated for a bbq joint! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
We were visiting from out of town and decided to try some Kansas City BBQ. We ordered the couples sampler plate which has ribs, brisket, burnt ends, and pulled pork. Everything such as service, atmosphere, and food was spot on! Our server Jose was the best!
google avatar

Sophie Y.

Yelp
Our hotel recommended Jack Stack, so we decided to order online and try the two-meat plate with lamb ribs, beef burnt ends, and a spinach salad. We picked it up at the Plaza location. They have a few designated curbside spots, but the carryout entrance is at a different door. Once you're near the restaurant, you have to check in on your phone to let them know you've arrived but the app showed an error when I did that. So I went inside the restaurant. We were a couple of minutes early, but as soon as we walked in and gave our name, our order was ready. The beef burnt ends were pretty tasty, rich and flavorful, with a bit of fat, which is to be expected. The lamb ribs, on the other hand, were quite fatty with a chewy membrane or skin on top, which made them less enjoyable. We won't be getting the lamb again. The salad was average with spinach, a few slices of strawberry that were soft and squishy meaning they were old. The spicy barbecue sauce has a nice heat and good flavor. Overall, we're glad we gave it a try!

Yelp
Lateee review alert (oops) I came here about a month ago as a tourist to the KC area and wanted some good barbecue. And that is what I got! The interior is very classy, with a bit of a steakhouse vibe. For the midafternoon (2:30-3 pm) window, it was rather busy, which is always a good sign. Service still moved quite quickly. I ordered a choose your own plate ($17?) with pork ribs and beef brisket. Both were absolutely amazing! I am a bit remiss that I don't remember more of my visit now. Oops again. I think though that I would frequent this location if I were a KC local.
google avatar

Richard S.

Yelp
This time, we did the Jack Stack to-go. We did it as a "pick up cold and serve later" option. We had all the meats and a number of sides. My gosh....we had about 12 hours later....and it was fantastic BBQ. Jack Stack never misses in delivering a consistency great BBQ experience. And nobody tops their sides!
google avatar

Julie T.

Yelp
The burnt ends plate with just beef was excellent! It literally melts in your mouth. I'd recommend staying away from the pork though. I opted to skip the fries and got the cheesy potato bake, another delicious choice. Now, the service was definitely sub par. They were not even that busy at 5pm when we were eating. I did expect better but the food definitely made up for it.
google avatar

Cedric C.

Yelp
Very good food and great service. We ordered a platter with ribs, chicken, brisket, and pulled pork. We had more than enough food and went home with a couple of full to go boxes.
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
Great choice for KC BBQ! The burnt ends were moist with just enough crust. (We went back the next day and had more ) Spare ribs were falling off the bone - best I'd ever had. Sliced brisket was not overcooked - moist with just enough fat. Not trimmed too closely leaving room for flavor. The Cheesy Corn is a must have. Do not leave without the carrot cake dessert. We took it back to our hotel room and ate it that night! But the best part of the dining experience was the server - Christian. Attentive but not intrusive. Great recommendations for everything we ordered. Made us feel welcome and understands hospitality. It was busy but he answered all our questions. s The only negative was the staff at the host stand - I don't think they know their job. After being ignored, we just walked in to the dining room and sat down at a table we liked. They need to be trained or fired. not a great first impression.
google avatar

Alex S.

Yelp
Overall not bad for a chain. I will say eating BBQ in a place that tries to be upscale and doesn't throw white bread on your meat is a little wierd. I almost didn't like it but the food was incredible, especially the potatoe salad wierldy. The sauce and the beef rib was delicious. Burnt beef ends as well. My two complaints are that the service wasn't incredibly welcoming and the baby back ribs were hella dry. Overall not a bad meal but also will definitely try a different place while I'm in town.

Yelp
First timers to Kansas City! We were told by many people to come here.....so glad we did. It was absolutely my favorite place ever! Sat at the bar, it was clean, comfortable and nice ambiance. The two ladies working the bar were so nice and engaged in great conversation. The food.....BEST BBQ EVER. Nice and hot! Flavorful, and the best bbq I've ever had. We bought 4 of the sauces! Very well priced, great service, and outstanding food! We will be back! Thank you for working so hard!
google avatar

Jake W.

Yelp
It's a cool Kansas City establishment that's easily accessible. The atmosphere is a nicer casual sit down that kind of reminds you of a chain. Service was friendly and fast considering how busy they were. We got the 4 person meal that did adequately feed 5-6 (depends on how you count children) with a side of burnt ends. The burnt ends appetizers did seem small but with everything together it was more than enough. The BBQ overall was good. The meat was juicy, ribs peeled off the bone clean but weren't falling apart and we're probably my favorite. Chicken was juicy and flavorful, brisket was good. Overall it's a good standard for BBQ.

Yelp
Well, was the food good! I'm blown away as to how delicious every single thing was to start off with a waiter was amazing. He was such a gentleman and helped us. Choose the best items for us. My friend chose a combo of lamb and beef ribs, along with a creamed corn. I had the beef brisket sandwich with a baked potato. We both tried each other's food, and everything was fabulous. The food came out very rapidly, and we were quite surprised. Everything was hot and had a full smoky flava. Fantastic. I had a mock tail which had smoked ginger and pineapple in it delicious. The restaurant is clean and very spaced out. We could barely see any of the other people eating at the restaurant, even though the restaurant was relatively full. You can see through the kitchens and see your food being prepared. Everything is very clean and organize. The absolute best part? The warm carrot cake. Oh my God. Probably the best carrot cake I have ever eaten. It had warm melted frosting that was not overly sweet. I recommend one dessert between two or more people. It's huge. When in Kansas City, Jack Stack should be your first stop!

Yelp
The ambiance was great! It was bustling & we had a friendly, knowledgeable waiter. We ordered drinks before dinner & dinner came out quickly! Very yummy! My husband had the chicken & I had the pick 2 types of BBQ.... With the beans for him & cheesy potatoes for me & we shared. The portions were nice sized. If ever back in KC, we'll for sure be back! Yum!

Renisha S.

Yelp
Ambiance - fine dining bbq. It's a really nice restaurant to be a bbq spot. Service was good, nothing special but definitely not bad at all. Food - driest beef brisket ever! Didn't bother sending back but also couldn't stand to eat it. But oh my goodness the lamb ribs were out of this world! It was so flavorful and had the right amount of saltiness.

Yelp
fantastic food, service and ambience. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and sat at the bar. Service was fast and efficient. Ordered an order of three onion rings. I think this is genius. By the way, the trio platter with pork burnt ends, brisket, and beef burnt ends in a loaded baked potato. Everything was delicious extremely well priced and very large that platter could've easily serve two maybe three I had plenty of leftovers. this may be my favorite spot right now in Kansas City for barbecue.

Yelp
Jack Stack is probably my new favorite bbq spot. The ambiance is similar to Cheesecake Factory but for bbq. We ordered the following: Kansas City Combo (5/5): we chose brisket, burnt ends, and beef ribs. Subbed the fries for 2 sides- cheesy corn bake & beans. Everything about this was perfect. The meats were tender and flavorful. The cheesy corn bake was rich and cheesy with sweetness from the corn. The baked beans were sweet and complimented the meats well. Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese App (5/5): probably my favorite mac and cheese. Noodles had a good bite. The combo of the cheese sauce, pulled pork and sweet bbq sauce on top... I would get this as an entree next time! Portion sizes were generous. We arrived very hungry and left with some bites for lunch the next day. Service was good, didn't have to wait too long for our food to come out. Parking is easy, there is a free parking structure right across the restaurant. Highly recommended for your next bbq craving!

Yelp
This is an iconic BBQ location. It was KC Masterpiece when Dr Rich Davis was opening and running a series of upscale BBQ restaurants. Jack Stack took the location over and opened yet another stellar BBQ location. KC needs more BBQ restaurants (there are never enough) and we need premier location like this to promote the quality of KC BBQ! Enjoy KC BBQ here or at any one of the Jack Stack locations. BTW best Coleslaw in the city.
google avatar

GG G.

Yelp
Jack Stack does NOT disappoint! It is consistently excellent. We started with the KC Lemonade to drink, which were the bomb. Then had the burnt ends and baked beans BBQ which were out of this world! You will not find better BBQ anywhere! Great service and ambiance too!!
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
Jack Stack's burnt ends are delicious. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, with a rich smoky depth that proves these pitmasters know what they're doing. Each bite hits the sweet spot between bark and brisket, with perfectly rendered fat and a bold rub that balances sweetness, spice, and hickory tastes. The service is quick and straightforward. The ambience of the location is easily accessible, especially with their carry-out. Highly recommended if you've never had burnt ends before and somehow you're in the area.

Yelp
For whatever reason I've been avoiding Jack Stack in the 10-ish year span I've been coming to KC for work. Maybe I ate it on the first trip, didn't like it, and just forgot. Maybe someone told me they didn't like it. Maybe it wasn't convenient to where my building and hotel were. Maybe I just got addicted to how someone else makes their BBQ and didn't want to change. Whatever the reason was, it was valid because I didn't have a good dinner at Jack Stack on this trip and I'm not planning on giving it another chance. I didn't have any issues getting a reservation or table, and they were pretty full when I arrived, and the waitress was attentive, even though I was taking a bit longer to decide on what I wanted. Unfortunately, the problem I had is the food just wasn't very good. I ordered the Burnt Ends platter with fries and beans. The fries were so salty, or whatever that seasoning is, that I couldn't eat half of them. The beans were reall good, confirming some of the other reviews that they have good sides, but the meat was bad and that's the whole point of coming to a BBQ joint. My burnt ends were the Beef & Pork combo, and it was an odd combination of overly fatty and dry at the same time, all without most of the meat having any bark at all. Overall, disappointing, and if I hadn't ordered the beans and hadn't had good service the rating would have been a 2.

Yelp
I came in with a party of four on a Sunday afternoon, ready to give Kansas barbecue a try for the first time. Right from the start, I had a feeling it was going to be a solid experience. We started with onion rings, which seem to be the go-to appetizer here. They're served on a vertical stand like a paper towel holder, which gives them kind of a funny look. I thought that the onion rings were good, though I'd personally still prefer other finger foods like simple fries. For the main course, we went with Jack's Best, which is a massive spread for a family of four. Be prepared for a food coma because the portions and heaviness are no joke. The beef and pork ribs were fantastic - tender, smoky, and flavorful. The sausage and burnt ends were solid additions too, though they could've had a bit more texture and flavor. As for the sides, the beans were on the sweeter side, and the cheesy corn was maybe... a bit too cheesy? They were still good and I'd clean them up perfectly fine. Service was friendly and surprisingly very quick for the amount of food that we ordered. Since this is a well-established chain, I expected reliable service, and they did not disappoint. There's always room for improvement, but overall, it was a great experience. I'd definitely consider coming back again.

Yelp
Soooo I really wanted to give Jack Stack's a 4/5 or 5/5, but when the sides are the best part of the meal, it just felt like a little bit of a let down. My husband and I both wanted a crown beef rib and a little variety, so we threw caution to the wind and ordered the "Jack's Best" family meal for 4. (So many leftovers!) The meat was dry. We both couldn't even get the beef burnt ends down - not sure if they had been sitting out on a counter for awhile or are meant to be slathered in a bucket of sauce, but it was pretty disappointing. The crown beef ribs were large and in-charge looking, but it honestly just tasted like roast beef...and I can buy a lot of roast beef for the price we paid for just one of the beef ribs! The cheesy corn was good and their fries were the highlight for me. Suggestion - offer a smoked or seasoned fries option and maybe a house-made ketchup instead of just the bottle of store-bought ketchup? If your fries are the star of the show, at least juzz them up! Service was friendly but they were super busy - so definitely reserve your table ahead of time and then treat your waiter right so they don't forget about you in the crowd.

Yelp
In town for the game and did some shopping and then found this place nearby for lunch. We walked right in and sat at the bar and had a great experience. Bartenders were very friendly and so were patrons. I had the pulled pork Mac and cheese and my husband did the combo with brisket and ribs with a side of broccoli. Everything was absolutely delicious! Great restaurant with a cool vibe, would definitely recommend! Also their BBQ sauce and ranch are both SO yummy!

Yelp
Served at the bar. Ambiance is chill. Hannah was my server and she handled everything perfectly! Agave Bloom is a new menu item... all I needed was 1 Love their portion size of potatoes so made it simple with Barbecue Stuffed potato with burnt ends as meat choice! This did not disappoint.. even added bacon.. no salt or anything else needed! D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!

Yelp
Great BBQ before our Kauffman Arts Center concert. The place & plaza was packed due to Arrowhead game this weekend. Food was great & the efficient operation moved folks in & out without feeling rushed. Awesome service w Hannah. Ribs & pulled pork plus Mac cheese was wonderful. Free parking garage across street to the west.

Yelp
Service was pretty good. We had a KC combo with beef brisket and ribs. The smoke ring was ok on the ribs but the ribs were at best average. The beef brisket was pretty much tasteless. Both needed sauce to be average. The onion rings were good. The slaw was ok and the potato salad was good. The restaurant was clean and well appointed. Unfortunately our visit was underwhelming considering all the hype.
