8 Best Sports Bars in Charlotte, North Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"Jackalope Jacks is a hidden treasure of a spot for lovers of the Premier League, with shuffleboard, darts, and Chelsea FC flags flying high. On the corner of Commonwealth in Plaza Midwood, this hole-in-the-wall can be quiet and passable, except on football or rugby match days when the crowd is a force to be reckoned with. For early games, it’s got a bangin’ English breakfast and a Southern biscuits and gravy brunch. And lots of self-titled garbage plates." - Kayleigh Ruller

Rachael was amazing and prepared me the best bowl ever. First day working independently and she’s killing the game!!🥂 Cheers to many successful days ahead Rachael!

My first time here, to check out the vibe, it was great and it's a sports(soccer) friendly bar. They have a live band that makes the area electrifying. And lots of different games keep the crowd engaged. It's definitely a place to go with friends and just be open-minded with the crowd here. Parking is a little tide around this area in general, so if you are lucky, you might get free parking. If not, you will need to pay for parking a little further down the street.

Jack’s is full of amazing bartenders, security, good vibes, and good times. We had the absolute pleasure of being taken care of by a Miss Valentina and she was the best host we’ve ever had. She was so sweet and so good to us, it kept us there another TWO HOURS. Start AND end your night at Jack’s.

Valentina is the heart of this neighborhood bar, the perfect mix of professionalism and personable! Awesome bar that totally embodies the Plaza Midwood area and certainly a must visit if in town. Cheers!

Unprofessional and Aggressive Security – Disappointing Experience I came to this event with a group of 7, looking forward to a night of music and community. Unfortunately, our experience was ruined by unprofessional and unnecessarily aggressive behavior from the venue’s security team. While walking through the crowd, a security guard shoved me—no warning, no “excuse me.” I calmly pointed out that a simple “excuse me” would’ve sufficed. His immediate response? He kicked me out. No conversation. No warning. Just straight to removal. It was a clear display of a power trip. For context, another individual who was dancing on the stage was also instantly kicked out without a verbal warning. This seems to be a pattern at this venue—security acting with zero de-escalation or professionalism. Yes, I resisted slightly on the way out—but only because I was being disrespected and steamrolled without cause. I wasn’t drunk, aggressive, or belligerent. I’m a sober adult, a U.S. Army officer, and a public servant with a master’s degree. I don’t start problems—I speak up when I’m disrespected. Once outside, my group and I tried to calmly explain what happened. The same guard refused to listen, repeatedly threatened to call the police instead of hearing out paying customers. We welcomed the idea of involving law enforcement if it meant a fair conversation, but they weren’t interested in fairness. This was not just disappointing—it was unacceptable. No one wants to spend their time and money at a venue where customer voices are shut down and where security acts more like bullies than professionals. Until management addresses their staff’s behavior and prioritizes respectful, safe treatment of all patrons, I can’t recommend this venue to anyone.

Riley, the multimedia director, was an absolute savant. They're saying he saved the bachelor party with his TV switching for the 16-leg parlay.

Google
Staff was great, especially Riley making sure all the TVs stayed on the right football games.

Great bar spot, with great drinks! Plenty of tvs to watch the game just wish it had more menu items. The food we did order was great though!

Yelp
GREAT place to watch soccer. Tons of TVs. They also open the garage door when the weather is nice. Manchester City fans are always there watching. Overall a great vibe with great people. Unfortunately they only had one bartender...she was working her tail off!! They need to get the girl some help next time! She handled it very well.

Yelp
Truly a drive bar - it's dingy and dark but good place to just grab some beers and watch a game.

Yelp
I came here at 11am for the 11:30am Manchester city/Liverpool game, and we had a blast. It was nice to sit around other football-obsessed people of all ages, and made friends. Lots of TV's, and they play the audio of the soccer games. Their breakfast menu is small; only about 5 options, but the eggs and toast that I got was simple and good. There was only one bartender for the entire place the whole time, but she was friendly and kept up.

Yelp
Neat little pub tucked away under the former peculiar rabbit space. It has a tight knit locals vibe but the atmosphere is still friendly and welcoming. You can tell by the flags adorning the walls that this place is serious about soccer so if you are looking to catch a premier league game I highly recommend checking this spot out. When I was last in on a Sunday with some friends they had a mystery beer special where the bartender will pick a beer out for you. It was a great deal and our bartender allowed us to list some of our preferences so we liked all of her choices. Not too much else to say as I haven't had to the opportunity to eat here yet but whenever I am out and about in Plaza Midwood I like to poke my head in here for a few cold ones.

Yelp
This is hands down the best bar in Charlotte to watch soccer games. It was absolutely packed during the world cup with supporters of all nationalities represented. Now that the world cup has finished we go for less crowded regular soccer matches. They serve a Full English breakfast which makes my fiancé quite happy. They serve an assortment of lunch options on the brunch menu which makes me, the only person who isn't interested in breakfast occurring after ~9:00am, happy. The bartender is always attentive to our table keeping the drinks and food flowing at an impressive pace considering we always sit at a table instead of at the bar. There is a lovely glass garage door that is opened to the outside during the months when Charlotte weather is tolerable. My favorite part of this bar is the free popcorn located toward the back which even includes an assortment of flavoring options. Every visit to this bar has been a good experience.

Yelp
Stopped by here last Sunday for the first time and loved it, connected to the rabbit hole I never ventured in but I'll def be back soon. The service was awesome and the guy behind the bar was hilarious, great atmosphere and the perfect dive bar in Charlotte. Great drink specials also. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I from out of town and visited this place with friends that are local for salsa night. The bartender kept my card and didn't communicate that she would. I only ordered one drink. ‍ I would have communicated that I don't need or do tabs. I came back to get it the next day during the late morning but had trouble accessing the building. Large Dogs were in the restaurant side (while people were sitting and eating) and immediately barked aggressively upon seeing me. I barely walked in. The waitress and staff laughed it off and said "good dog!" (I'm very Black) I backed out and yelled in that I was trying to get my credit card from last night and needed help. They ignored me and laughed me off. I had to go back to my car and call the cops to get help. The dogs were not friendly at all. Once I finally got in, they immediately denied having my card. They didn't even look. I knew my card was in there and asked to speak to someone else. I waited and finally a rude manager brought it out. No one apologized for the dog incident, the horrible racist treatment, the wait nor the fact that they were trying to steal my card. I'll never go back there! I'll never forget how it felt to sit in my car with my children and watch everyone else (white) smoothly go in and sit and eat and be treated with respect... Shame on this place!

Yelp
Jackalope Jack's is on the back side of Peculiar Rabbit and seems to often get overlooked in favor of the latter. I would encourage you to give this place a shot! We had some friends visiting and wanted to show them Plaza Midwood. After looking at some brunch menus, my fiancée suggested we try Jackalope Jack's. We pulled into a nearly empty parking lot around 1pm Saturday afternoon. The restaurant itself was empty save for the bartender. We sat and were greeted by our server immediately. The ladies decided on Bloody Mary's. I was boring and went with a PBR, but they all said their Bloody Mary's were very well made. For food, I ordered the Navajo and my fiancée ordered the Avocado Toast. I would like to note (though our experience was not negatively affected by it) my fiancée wanted the Kim Chi pancakes and they were not able to make them because they did not have all of the ingredients. However, she did enjoy the toast. It was served with a generous amount of avocado and salmon. I would definitely go back for the Navajo. It consisted of 2 Flapjacks with Chocolate Mole sauce, 2 Sunny Side up Eggs, and a Blueberry Salsa. It was delicious! The flavor combination was perfect. Just the right amount of spice mixed with a touch of sweet. A must try! Oh! I almost forgot about the Avocado Fries! They are avocado slices that are breaded and then fried. You really can't go wrong, and I was able to justify that I was getting healthy fat with the unhealthy fat. Yeah. Let's go with that... Overall, Jackalope Jack's is a dive bar with great food, and we will definitely return!

Yelp
Fun location. We came here around 9pm so they really weren't that busy. The staff is nice and they have a nice selection of drinks. I was surprised at how large the place is. They do have a small assortment of games you can play as well. We sat outside and it was nice. Their was music but it wasn't too loud and they also had a tv. This is a nice chill spot!

Yelp
Great place to watch a game, best in Plaza/Noda combined. Drink specials, good food-patty melt FTW, Games, Patio, TVs in every crevice. Bar service generally good but some attitude and not, southern friendly, which is basically par for the course in Plaza. That's the only rub with bar tenders being aloof or grumps to the world, and more people don't come here because of it. Grab a drink, order some great food, and catch a game. Don't be tourists and you'll have a good time.

Yelp
This is such a friendly environment with great service and drinks! Come after work to grab a drink or any other time! Love it here!

Yelp
Jackalope Jack's is a great place to hang out, have some good beer, and eat some good food. I have been numerous times with friends and I have always has something good. All the development on 7th street couldn't get rid of this scrappy and lovable bar. They have branched off in the Peculiar Rabbit and the quality remains the same. All in all this is an all around good place dine. Give it a try!

Justin C.

Yelp
Love the place, but the bartender (redish/blonde hair) on staff is extremely rude. She ruined our experience with her negative attitude. The bar is practically dead and she acted like we didn't exist and completing our orders was not a priority for her. I'd recommend getting off your phone, and being kind.

Patti P.

Yelp
First time here and pleasantly surprised. Very friendly service....thanks Kelly! Great food. Reasonable prices. We had brunch today and were very happy with it.

Yelp
Can't speak to the food, but the drinks are good and are decently priced:) staff is always chill and environment is eclectic:) a great stop in Plaza Midwood:)

Yelp
This is by far the best avocado toast I've ever had. But you have to make sure Lindol French is working. He makes the best guacamole from scratch. It's uncanny how authentic it tastes. Definitely ask for Lindol. He also makes great cocktails with his fruit squeezer.

Darci F.

Yelp
The blonde bartender couldn't be less interested in having customers. Arms crossed "what do you want" poor attitude. As I continued to order shots and spend money she still couldn't care. Even heard her insult my NFL team affiliate to what seemed to be a regular. The regular started with me, no need for her to roll her eyes behind my back as my friend watched her. I only gave 2 stars because the bar looked awesome and I haven't been since they left 7th. I won't be back.

Kasey N.

Yelp
Wow the other patrons weren't kidding, best avocado toast ever! Lindol truly does make it from scratch. Served til 4 but Lindol is there all night.
