Very very good hole in the wall style Chinese cuisine. We came in with a 12 person party at 3:30 am and we were served promptly with a smile. 20% included gratuity for the large party but whatever, the food was delicious. I got the Szechuan Chicken and everything was made with fresh ingredients and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Hot tea was delicious, and we all left with a smile. Coming from NYC this place is a godsend of late night eateries. "Salt" at the table included shows the authenticity 😁

I ordered from here because I function on a nocturnal schedule and it was one of the only spots open on Christmas Eve night (well, technically Christmas day since I ordered after midnight)! Got General Tso's bean curd and BOGO egg drop soup. The general tso's bean curd-- SO good! And so generous with the portion, chock full. I'm not a vegetarian but enjoy the food, and this is one of the best takes I've had. I don't like heavily battered stuff, this was perfect for me. Basically tasted like tofu with a cooked skin. It came with three pieces of steamed broccoli, I wish there was more broccoli but that wasn't included in the item description, so, fair enough. It also came with what the description said was a, "small," box of rice but I would describe it more as medium since I've definitely had smaller boxes of rice. Filling meal. The egg drop soup is interesting.Tasty and warming, but has a taste like leftover slightly burnt pieces from a skillet? IDK how else to say it. Mde it kind of homey. Big containers too. Happy with it. It arrived quickly via UberEats and was piping hot. I would definitely order from here again.

Tried this place for the first time just now because it was open late on ubereats. Never again. I ordered an orange chicken for me and a shrimp & broccoli for my girl and it was horrible. Sauce for the shrimp/broccoli was sour and nasty and the orange chicken tasted old & dry. Shrimp wasn’t even seasoned.

Listen. This place is great Chinese food. Service is what it is. They serve great food and are open later than anyone around. First time I'm DC an dim glad this was one of very few options available at 1AM. Highly recommend if looking for good Chinese food.

Google
I ordered this restaurant through uber eats and what a mistake it was!! I ordered 6 items totaled to almost 100 dollars and only received 1 out of the 6 items!! The item I did receive appeared to be chicken fried rice but the “chicken” was inedible. I will NEVER order from this place ever again.

I’m disappointed in my experience with Jackey Cafe tonight. The service was mediocre and the food was disgusting! Whenever we have a night out in Chinatown, we stop here for a late dinner. Then, we Uber home. We got home and discovered that ALL of our food was spoiled. Shrimp Lo Mein - noodles were dry, sour and had a foul odor. Shrimp and broccoli - the shrimp were mushy, bitter and sour. Chicken wings - (see photo) wings had a foul odor and the bones were dark/bruised. Hot and sour soup - soup tasted like it was at least a day old. Egg rolls - the cabbage was dry/dehydrated. This actually tasted better than everything else. When we called the complain, the “manager” said “that’s impossible” and would only acknowledge our complaint if we, as he stated, “well, bring it back and let me taste it.” This would be an inconvenience, as we don’t live in walking distance. Our ride home is 30 minutes and we weren’t going to drive back to the restaurant after midnight. The foul odor and taste of the food warrants a complaint with the Department of Health; which I will be filling when I go into work on Monday morning. The children in the restaurant (especially the boy) was extremely rude. He was loud and obnoxious - using profanity. The girl had an attitude whenever she was asked to do something other than sit with her face buried in her phone. The woman who took our order was extremely pleasant, as always, and she was trying to remain calm while the children were disobedient. This used to be our favorite late night spot. Needless to say, we’ll never go there again. We’re just two customers - I’m sure the owners won’t care about losing two customers.

Google
Went here on a Saturday night with my buddies and we all got noodle soup! Beef brisket, roasted duck and ox tail, asked for thick noodles and it was SOOO good. All three broths were on point and all three meats were juicy and tender. Definitely try these dishes.

Yelp
R.I.P. to a Chinatown fixture...40 years of service and closing due to landlord rent increases. The ambiance is mom and pop local business. You can tell that this isn't a Michelin star place, but the food is flavorful and quantity above average for DC's standards. We got the chicken congee, Mongolian beef, and a vegetable dish I'm forgetting the name of. Shout out to Jackey Cafe for being a reliable DC late night Chinese spot...you will be missed.

Yelp
The sesame shrimp is FIRE! I don't know what kind sauce they use but I LOVE IT! I haven't actually visited the restaurant so I'm unsure of their vibe and level of service but when I order from UberEats and they are always on point! My food is always hot and they always remember to read the notes and add my hot mustards packets which are essential when eating my egg rolls lol! The general tso shrimp was also really good but I wish it had broccoli like most general tso! Other than that chefs kiss! The salt and pepper shrimp was tasty too but it was a tad bit salty! I think a couple less shakes and they would have been perfect! Definitely plan to order from here again!

Yelp
Place is open late enough to revive you on your way home. They have efficient no nonsense service. Got the dumplings, combo fried rice, Chinese broccoli and a flat noodle dish. All really good. Lively environment.

Yelp
Came on a late Thursday night and sat down to eat before my guest and I realized the metro would be closing soon lol So, we ended up taking our food to go A nice, young Man took our order. He looked like a teenager. I got some dumplings. It's across the street from Wok N Roll, down some little stairs. Food was hot and tasty No thrills restaurant, kind of dated. A woman was sitting in a chair like making food or something in the dining area

Yelp
Always thought of myself as Lo Mein-tenance. We arrived here because the Chinese restaurant across the street provided terrible service and we figured why not try Jackey Cafe. It was late at night, and I was surprised how little restaurants were open. Glady this one stays open until 2am in the morning. The service is pretty mid, it seemed like a family business the parents cooking in the back and the children taking the orders in the front. The ambiance was quite interesting, very small spot underground right in the heart of chinatown. There were different dollar bills on the ceiling and on the wall. I never expect good service at a Chinese restaurant, I expect the food to be top notch. However, this wasn't the case here either, it took a while for our three dishes to come out, when it was not busy at all. The whole restaurant was empty. what a shame, and it took about 20 mins for the food to arrive. We ordered beef chowfun, pork chop, and fried fish over rice. I have to tell you it was pretty expensive for three dishes, it cost about $70.00. And the food was pretty mid, we ate it in our hotel room. I would never be back, if I do come back it would be somewhere else where the service and the food don't suck.

Yelp
Recommended by a local said the place was a little pricey but it was well worth it. They didn't open till around 7:00 so be aware because they stay open till very late. The food was delicious we had a beef and broccoli house specialty that was made with chicken that had more vegetables in it and meat than I've ever seen in that dish. The sauce was delicious. Also had pork ends and some dim sum, all very good. Yes it's downstairs in a place that you probably would just walk past, but don't, go in and eat you won't be disappointed, highly recommend.

Yelp
First stop in DC! Got this to go because our hotel was a block away. This place is opened late (at 9:30 on a Thursday in Chinatown most places were closed). Let's break it down. Pros: - Super fast - Friendly - Inside is really cool - It didn't make me feel like crap Cons: - Just "okay" - Expensive for portions Jackey Cafe is a hard review because 3 out of 5's are hard to talk about. It wasn't good, but it wasn't bad either. $30 for two boxes (on the smaller side) of chicken lo mein is a little on the expensive side for the portion. The flavor was alright; it got the job done. I wouldn't really recommend this place, but I'd say if it's your only option it isn't the worst in Chinatown. Also, if you're new to Chinatown this is an authentic place to walk into. It fits the bill.

Yelp
Ok. I am not one to leave any bad reviews. Especially. It i feel like food and service were good. Just not to my liking. But it's a different case here. We were in China town and stopped on to have some warm sake and take food to go First of all - the place didn't look clean. Menu was dirty and greasy. Sake was cold and didn't really strike me as regular sake i usually get. Anyhow. Moving on. Getting food to go. I ask. If the frog dish has cut up frog or whole ( yes i was being unique and wanted to see what frog is all about ). So. The lady says it's whole When we get back. It's cut up in tiny pieces. All bones. Not what i was promised it ll be. My friend got orange chicken. Which looked over fried. And meat was tiny on the inside with tons of breading. Fried rice was ok. Regular rice was ok. Vegetables mixed in my "amazing" frog plate were good. So. With all pros and cons i wouldn't go back.

Yelp
I was in here 12 years ago with my kids and food was great. Was in the neighborhood and decided to go back . I was not disappointed.

Yelp
I came here after a concert at the nearby Capital One Arena. I think it was one of the few places that was open late. They open until 2 a.m. service was okay. But I just think that our waitress was having a very hectic night. She was alone by herself and at times I felt like she didn't want to be bothered. I ordered some egg rolls and a bowl of the wonton noodle soup. They serve good portion sizes. The egg rolls were cold in the center. The wonton noodle soup was bland. Not a place that I will actually go to again. Who knows maybe they were having a rough night. 2 stars.

Yelp
This restaurant is a true hidden treasure that deserves all the accolades it receives. A five-star dining experience that will leave you longing to return for more. Delicious

Yelp
I was exploring Washington D.C. with friends and we found this hole-in-a-wall Asian restaurant. It's downstairs right off the sidewalk, and I liked going downstairs to enter the small space of the restaurant. The layout inside was simple, and the decorations made the interior feel busy yet homey. We were promptly seated and given menus and water, and the menu had a wide variety of options to look through which was good. I'm a big fan of General Tso's chicken, and since I was looking for a sizeable meal I decided to go with that. The restaurant seemed to be owned by a family, as the woman serving us was giving our orders to a young boy to give to the kitchen. There were some older kids who also seemed to be helping, and it was nice to see a family running the restaurant. The wait for the food wasn't too long, and when it arrived my group was ready to eat. The General Tso's chicken was honestly very good for multiple reasons; the meat was juicy and tender, the broccoli was cooked very well, the sauce on the chicken was delicious, and all of the food came out at the perfect temperature. I've had a lot of General Tso's chicken before and this was some of the best I've ever had. We had gotten there pretty late at night and had been there for a while, and we realized they were open until very late so we didn't have to hurry to leave which I appreciated. When we were finished we asked for the check, which was promptly brought out, and we paid and left. I'm very glad I found this restaurant, the atmosphere was intimate yet casual and seeing what seemed to be a family running the place gave it a little extra charm. The service was great, the food was even better, and I didn't expect to have such a nice time in this little restaurant tucked away underground in DC. If I'm hungry in the area I'd happily go back, and I'd recommend it to anyone in the area who likes Asian-American food.

Yelp
Ive come here multiple times after a long night at the bars. Without a doubt this is hands down the best late night food. I wish I come to DC or work near this cafe cause I'll definitely eat here for lunch too if so. The food is pricey but well worth it. Just buy different entrees and split them with your group of friends/family. Pro: -The best chinese food ive had. Give the lemongrass chicken a try! -They open late -Waiters were fast in taking orders, refilling drinks, and getting our checks when we needed Cons: -Place could use a remodeling. The bathroom was dirty. Chair and tables were also outdated. -Due to the above, atmosphere wasn't great, but the food will make up for it Tips: -They automatically charged tip one time I went with just two people. I thought that was weird since some places only do that if you have a big group. So be on the look out for that so you dont over tip.

Yelp
We took a chance on this one wandering around Chinatown. I think everyone likes to think they find the perfect hole in the wall with great food, right? The food was certainly ok OVERALL, and they have lots of choices. I had the Happy Family and my friend had scallops with bean sauce. I didn't taste many/any preservatives and the food was fairly fresh (I did eat everything). However, we went at noon and we were the ONLY people eating in the restaurant. I didn't see any takeout orders either. I think only two people worked in the restaurant-- our server/hostess/bartender, and I could hear someone in the kitchen. These (and the other reviews) are red flags for me. Service was ok, but not great. Our server sat at the table directly next two us and watched tv, which felt a little crowded for an empty restaurant :-). I don't know if if is bad luck, but I spit out my fortune cookie because it was sooo stale, and I didn't want to waste the calories :-) The price was fine. I think less than $30 including two meals, tax, and tip. It wasn't any single thing. No one thing was fatal, but no single thing was great either. I just am not motivated to return. The search for that perfect hole in the wall restaurant with great food continues...

Yelp
Randomly stopped in here after 4th of July fireworks, and they're open late, family run, and the food was pretty good. The only downsides was the limited seating, and the walnuts in the shrimp walnut entree tasted stale/old. Aside from that the food overall was good and tasted like you were visiting someone's house. All of that and given the location, setup, and so on it's decent and the food prices were reasonable given the area. For a late night meal, I'd stop in here again.

Yelp
So ordered a plethora of things at work with co workers. We got spring rolls crab wontons wonton soup and 3 ordered of potstickers for 4 people So the crab wontons were ok ish. They were creamy but more cream cheese then crab. The potstickers were HORRIBLE. The were cold and the dumpling was made with not the normal dumpling wrapper. It was heavy and looks sad. And that's how I felt eating it. The soup was mediocre at and how do you fuck up an egg roll?' It was tasteless. Never again.

Yelp
I was staying in DC by this spot. The front desk recommended it. It is hard core average Chinese, the same menu and food you can find at any Chinese restaurant, anywhere in the USA. The General Tso chicken is a large serving, see my pic. I was super hungry, so I got my fix in. Would I go here again, probably not.

Yelp
In a late Saturday evening, after a long walk in DC, we decided to eat in China town. After reviewing a few minutes, we decided to go to this place. A nice place, clean with bright lights. Food and service were average.

Yelp
My friend and I walked around Chinatown looking for some food and stumbled upon Jackey Cafe! The entrance goes into the ground so it was hard to catch it at first. It was nice inside and looked like your typical local Chinese restaurant. We did the dinner special, which was around $10 per dish that consisted of rice, a spring roll, the entree, and a soda included. We ordered the Beef & Scallop with mixed vegetables and the Sweet and Sour Chicken. The chicken was delicious. Freshly fried, but not dry on the inside. The beef however, was lacking in flavor, but still good. Overall, quality of meal had a range, but the price could not be beat! Especially when you are in DC!
google avatar

Yelp
Never delivered but expected us to pay. Not impressed! We realize there are better options in the area, but after a long day, we just wanted delivery. We should have ventured back out for a proper restaurant.

Yelp
Please don't go to this restaurant, chicken was spoiled! Rice was over cooked. I AM BEGGING YOU DONT GO!

Yelp
Very rude customer service. Will never come back to this restaurant and would suggest no one else do either. My son (16) was craving some Mumbo sauce and good Asian food so we chose this restaurant. When he went to counter to order he was immediately met with an attitude. He ordered his food to go. When the lady brought it to him, she just threw the bag at him and didn't say anything. Even as he tried to thank her. He had decided that he was hungry and wanted to eat his food there. As he was eating the lady hollers at him that he ordered it to go, so he needs to go. Ridiculous. There was literally no other customers waiting in the restaurant. We weren't being loud or disturbing in any manner.

Yelp
First time trying Jackey cafe... They get a thumbs up!!! I had the sesame chicken and Bak Choy and it was great!!! I really have to come back to small family owned establishment to try some of the other offerings. I'm excited to try some of the chow mein dishes. As I explore what else they have I'll keep you all posted. I'll make sure to add photos as well.

Alesia S.

Yelp
I love this place. Their lunch specials are my Chinatown go to! No frills, but their food is great. Service is very sub par, but it just adds to the character and experience.

Christian D.

Yelp
If you expect uppity Michelin star hospitality, this place isn't meant for you. But I've tried many Chinese restaurants in the DMV, and this is the place to be for good classic take out. This is a family run service that is evident the second you walk through the door. The owner is there restlessly and works hard to make your meal right and keep the place goin. One of the few places left that can actually be called small business in DC; Toss jackey cafe your dollar instead of the corporate greed taking over the restaurant biz and be rewarded with the best general tso in the DMV

Yelp
Wishing they had a rating for less than zero. The service was rude as Fck, very Rude and lousy, and of course the large party of White people that came in after we made our order, well, all 6 of them got their food 10s of minutes before my party of 3. The servers did not smile once, they actually had mean mugs on their faces. I guess their motto might be "who cares," if they can get a million people before anybody catches on, they are set for the rest of their lives. So I Stopped here after a long day's outting over at the National Zoo, to get my all time's favorite, Moogoo gi pan, which is basically Very tender Chicken slices with large Veggies in a white creamy Garlic sauce. I Ordered and the meal literally Smelled like Trash, literally trash from the alley. It stunk so much It annoyed my other two guest that was eating with me, as they could smell it where they were sitting. It tasted just like it smelled, awful, and I can put up with lousy food. This was the worse I've ever had and tasted. I also noticed how one of the servers was across the room was stopped and steering at me, as to see my reaction to the foul smelling dish that was being put in front of me, as I looked up and away from the smell she turned away and started moved again as it looked in her direction. My Son's lettuce that the Rangoon was sitting on had a bug on it. The Rangoon stuffing was cheap in portions, like less than a 1/2 a teaspoon full. As I looked in the kitchen they have product to be fried down, very close to the floor and it is as the severs walk in the kitchen, really! Like WTF??!!I was Completely embarrassed in front of my guest since I picked this place over the one across the street. They got us, me, for $52.00! Please, don't waste your time taste buds or money. It highly strikes me as a half dress up, Dirty, hole in the wall kind of spot. Now that I think bout it, I can not believe I stayed there to dine. My Guest had the Wonton soup and Shrimp lo mein. They enjoyed the tasted of both. I tasted the Shrimp lo mein and it was very flavorful.

Yelp
Not the best..certainly not the worst I have ever eaten. If you're hungry and it's late it will do just fine.

Yelp
The best late night Chinese food in the city. It's great after a Caps game or after a night out at the bars. The food and service are always reliable. It's an A+ in my book.

Yelp
After looking for few places to eat while in DC, we ended up at Jackey because of their $3.50 lunch deals, but ended up spending more money then that.... When it comes to Chinese food, I know what to get - NON-Americanized food - and even more thankful, in our group we have one mainland Chinese person... I got my typical - eggplant in garlic sauce and chicken in garlic sauce. The eggplant was good.... I would get this all the time... as for the chicken in garlic sauce, while the dish was good, amount of chicken in the dish was lacking... there were more veggies unfortunately. Now, as for the price they charge you... they have lunch price and dinner price... I believe they are different by $2.... In all honesty, I didn't see the portion differences between dinner and lunch sizes... the egg plant was dinner size and chicken was lunch size... the plate they used were about the same and the amount of food given was about the same.... when I looked at the offerings of lunch and dinner, I asked the waitress and she told me the dinner price used a bigger plates and had more food... maybe it's a visual effect thing, but I didn't see it unfortunately - they looked the same to me! Inside the restaurant is small, although I believe they have another room to the side... but seating area are tight and don't be surprised if you bump into others. As for the $3.50 meal, it's basically your Americanized Chinese food on a plate with 1/2 the plate being covered by rice :)

Carolyn W.

Yelp
I ordered shrimp fried rice. It was pretty good. but it""cost me $27 to have it delivered. The bag was delivered without any stables or tape to keep it closed during delivery. I have a problem with that. Our food should be taped or stapled closed so no one can tamper with the food. I don't think anybody messed with my food. The way it came I think they should secure the food better. I remember when Chinese food always had some leftovers. Not so with this place. There was an OK amount of shrimp. The taste was good.
google avatar

Jon C.

Yelp
Walked around China Town and stumbled to this family business... look the food is shit here ahaha, might as well go to Panda Express for a more authenticity or quality. You would already gather that from reading the other reviews. I respect how involved the family is... the whole family... There is a hidden dining area tucked in the back - need go down into the basement then walk back up to another section of the restaurant. It is littered with take out boxes and equipments. In here, this is where you get a sense of how FAMILY-ran this place is. They got 7 year olds taking down orders. I saw a little girl hugging a gigantic bowl of sweet and sour soup to a table. I see another child hustling empty plates off the table to make room for new guests. Felt like I was in Nintendo DS game... these kids are actually running shit! Respect.

Yelp
The food is not great and the service is terrible. When we asked for the check the waitress added her self a $5.30 tip . When I questioned her about it she said I gave her it to her . I said no you put that tip on there and she got mad and took the money out of the register . she forgot to give me back my credit card and I had to ask for that too . Stay away from this place the want to take advantage of the tourists

Yelp
This place is literal ass. Guy was a dick, dinner was overprice, low quality, and dishes tasted awful. To top it off, there was a rubber band in my soup. I showed the person working and they did not care at all and despite taking 3 spoonfuls of it and showing him this rubber band and a full bowl of soup, still charged me for it. I should have been a dick about it but whatevs. Avoid at all costs unless your plastered. 0/5 stars

Yelp
Serviceable Chinese joint. A bit pricey for the quality but it was very easy to get a seat and the food came out quickly. Being hungry, I appreciated this. Probably best to grab and go, but I've definitely had worse than the sit-down meal here.

Yelp
A divey restaurant with mediocre food. With the word, 'cafe' in the name, it lacks that cafe vibe. It is a restaurant selling meals, not light food and drinks. Most restaurants make up for their divey atmosphere with delicious food; however, Jackey Cafe fails. The egg drop soup was hot, but the flavor was lacking. The crispy beef was sweet, lightly crispy, and was accommodated with thin slices of pepper. For a $13 dinner meal, you would expect more, but the size was small and the flavor did not make up for it...meh. The char siu pork comes with a dark sauce on top of rice. It is filling; yet, the flavor is second-rate. Overall, the food is unimpressive and pricey. The service is subpar. From my experience, the server was nice and refilled drinks when needed. On the other hand, it took way too long to receive our drinks and food. I asked for tea and never received it. When an individual at my table asked a question about the food to another server, she rudely replied. So, not all the servers seem to be on par with providing respectful service to customers. The bottom line: You can find tastier and better accommodating Chinese restaurants in Chinatown.

Yelp
Stopped in here after wanting Pho naans overwhelmed with all of the eateries and followed two Asian women in. Was greeted and sat immediately. Restaurant is clean with no water holes in the ceiling and decorated in typical Asian style. I ordered the shrimp lo mein, which is my safety dish. Lunch sized portion which was pretty filling and came out pretty fast . No dessert as they didn't have any. With so many other places to try, I can't say I'd return but it was good and fresh.

Yelp
1.29.19 - The worst combination fried rice I've ever had. Taking this back to the restaurant ASAP. Will update my review later ..
google avatar

Angela E.

Yelp
Worked late. This was one of the few places in the city that's open late and delivers. Delivery took about an hour - ordered around 10pm. I have lived here for 5+ years and have had too much bad Chinese and this was a great surprise. The food was actually pretty good. I got pan-friend noodles, which was level quality to what I would crave in LA. This made me very happy. Also ordered chicken in black bean sauce, wish they had a fish option, but it did the job. I will definitely order here again.

N S.

Yelp
This place is super shady. Make sure to ask for the Itemized receipt. They automatically charge 18% gratuity no matter party size, and then provide only the credit card receipt which leads people to think they need to add tip. They play dumb when you ask if tip is included or where the receipt is. After I asked for the actual receipt and saw it had gratuity included, I pointed out to the waitress that not providing the itemized slip with the credit card total and signature would have led me to tipping 45%! Her reaction made it feel like that was exactly the intention. The only upside is that they are open very late.

Yelp
Susan's hotel is a few feet from the Navy Yard Station and work. Dinner time options within walking distance include: 1) Hotel restaurant 2) Subway. Thank god for Jackey Cafe (which I got a delivery menu for upon arrival to my hotel because there was no where to eat at 10pm.) Needless to say, I've eaten a TON of Jackey Cafe while in DC. $15 minimum order for delivery until 3am! Don't worry about meeting the $15 because their food is pretty over priced. Between 30-45 minutes delivery to my hotel room. Also, HUGE portions. Like, 3 meals in one! This means lots of Chinese food left overs to take to work, and some justification for the over priced nature of the food. Sea Food Pan Fried Noodle- $12.95 Sea Food in gravy delivered separately from the crispy noodles so that it didn't get soggy. It was still quite hot. The seafood was fresh and not over cooked even for sitting in hot liquid during delivery! I especially like that they use super thin noodles for this. Grease Factor: 3 of 5 Vegetable Pan Fried Noodle w/ Fried Tofu- $8.95 Not quite as good as the seafood pan fried noodle, the tofu was obviously the packaged fried tofu. It also felt way more greasy than the sea food pan fried noodle. Grease factor: 4 of 5 Wonton Soup (For 1)-$1.95 I think they are hand made but it consists of 99% thick wonton noodle wrapper and 1% filling. The broth was unremarkable. Also came with deep fried wonton wrapper chips...weird. Grease Factor: 2 of 5 Spicy Garlic Eggplant- $9.95 Quite tasty, not over cooked, sufficiently spicy, and a HUGE portion than came with about 1.5 cups of white rice. Favorite part is that the egg plant was cooked just right so its a little browned and has a smoky flavor. Don't get fooled that this is healthy just because it is a veggie. The sauce is loaded with oil Grease Factor: 5 of 5 Salty Fish and Chicken Fried Rice- $11.95 My favorite kind of fried rice by far! They did a very acceptable job with this one. Plenty of egg, visible bits of salty fish with notable but not overpowering salty fish flavor, small bite size chunks of dark meat chicken, the requisite wilted iceberg lettuce strips. Grease Factor: 3 of 5 Solid Chinese grease pit? Check. Late night delivery? Check Menu abundant with American Chinese and Traditional Chinese Options? Check

Yelp
The crab Rangoon has no crab and very little cream cheese, the French fries are a weird chewy texture. Even drunk, this place should be a last resort.

Yelp
Pretty underwhelmed with this place though it's pretty 'clutch' after a night or clubbing around the area. They're open until 4am which is pretty insane but also very convenient for party-goers or just late night foodies. Came here with a small group and ordered combination fried rice, pan fried noodles and beef with green peppers. The taste overall was.... a-ok at it's best. The rice seemed old, the portions were tiny and nothing about any of the dishes screamed 'fresh' to me. I think because it was 3am, anything at that hour was considered good for us. A real let down was the pan fried noodles, not only was the portion half of the normal in other areas of DC but my goodness, did they create a salt bomb! The noodles were drenched in salt so we all ate around the noodles instead. Your tip is included in the price you pay which I find very unfair. Thank goodness I checked because we would have given them even more free money. Will never come back for sure!

Yelp
The duck noodle soup was amazing. It fed my soul. Idk why everyone is hating on this place so much. It's a basement restaurant and the service is whatever but I had a great time.

Yelp
I went here for a quick dinner after a happy hour by the Verizon Center. It wasn't crowded on a weeknight and I was able to sit right down and grab a table. This isn't an "ambiance" place and is nothing fancy but has average to above average Chinese food. The spring roll wasn't greasy and was okay but nothing spectacular. The hot and sour soup isn't too spicy but is perfect on a cold DC winter evening. The pork lo mein was enjoyable. The pork was lean, the noodles weren't greasy, and the portion was large. The service was quick and friendly. While this isn't a must try in DC, it is a good place for a quick dinner.

Yelp
Chinese food in Chinatown?!?! Yep!!!! It has been a while since I've lived this life but it was Monday night and after work on a Monday, anything goes. Jacky Cafe is a basement spot that looked like it would be empty and it was. It did end up receiving more visitors over the course of my time there. I tend to not like places that are shabby shabby and J.C. isn't but a renovation won't hurt. I'm not sure that it would help business though. Chinatown, D.C. is beyond squeezed. For my last review of a Chinese spot, I rambled on and on about how I was going to see which dishes, however Americanized, were related to a particular style of cooking (Canton, Hunan, Szechuan). All of my research went out the window on this spur of the moment dish. You know how it goes. I can't remember anything that isn't on my phone. I didn't even remember to read that Yelp review. Oh well, time constraints mean I ordered General Tso's Chicken. Another thing that I have been meaning to do is to ask that my Orange Chicken, General Tso's or Sesame Chicken be fried more on the crunchy side. This I completely forgot to do and only remembered as I started to eat and a few of my chicken chunks were chewy. Not all of them but enough of them. I liked my meal enough but only for 3 Stars because I can't give 2.5. If I had asked for my chicken to be cooked a little longer and if there was some broccoli involved, we would have a 4 Star meal.

Yelp
Everyday they close at 3am Friday and Saturday night 5am This is probably the most authentic And most variety than any Restaurants in LA. I think that says a lot. Their selection of noodles (about 8 of them) is more than any Chinese restaurant I have ever been to and I am from LA. One bad thing is the noodle selection is written in Chinese so hopefully they will have a pic flyer soon to show you. Okay so I ordered oxtail noodle soup with the #7 noodle is a noodle called "xian mein" the noodle that melt in your mouth - it's a very very thin noodle. So here are the noodles in their menu order under the category noodle soup: 1. he Feng - white flat noodle 2. Tseng mein - yellow thin noodle 3. Me feng - thin rice noodles 4. Feng Gan - 5. Me yang - 6. Ne GAO - rice cake (circular shape) 7. Xian mein - white very very thin noodle that melt in your mouth

Yelp
Average/below average service with ok quality food. It was my first day visiting DC and wanted to try a Chinese food here as I would think it might be better than the ones I have tried in TX (DFW). After looking around, I decided to try this place out as they do have dinner special where the meal comes with one free drink (80 cent refill). I go the Kung Pao Chicken and it tasted alright to me. The only thing I would say is that I was often missed out on the service, no water was refilled for me and there is no interaction between me and the waitresses- they focused on other customers. I enjoyed the food just fine. The service would need improvement; I left the $1 tip because I appreciate the effort they might have put in to this.

Yelp
A friend recommended the $3.50 lunch special as tasty, fast, and cheap. It was certainly cheap (well, they first attempted to charge us for a $5.50 special, but relented when we protested). It wasn't that tasty, although with enough hot sauce and mustard sauce it was fine. Nor was it particularly fast-- they got confused more than once about the order, perhaps because they were unusually crowded. At least I didn't waste much money.

Yelp
Stumbled in here on a Saturday afternoon. This place is indeed a dive, but don't let that fool you. After I sat down it started to pick up, so that's good. I ordered sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, and honestly? It was good. The fried rice was good. The egg roll sucked but whatever. With the coke I spent $7, and they didn't add on tip. Would I eat here again? Probably. It's not a terrible spot for a quick bite to eat.
