I ordered the fried fish with fries and greens. I dined in & loved that my food was served hot! The fish was pretty good but very thinnly sliced and was basa which isn’t always my favorite. The fries were great but I personally didn’t like the greens, they seemed like they need to cook longer to really get the flavor and the corn bread tasted like jiffy which gave the meal an overall manufactured flavor versus a homemade one. Overall, the food was good however I’ve been living in the south for the last 7 years so I am a little spoiled when it comes to flavor. I will say that the service was wonderful and the restaurant ambience was delightful.

Plenty of seats at lunchtime, and tables and chairs are clean and well stocked. The food is outstanding, especially the plates, which have good portion sizes for the sides and the protein/meats. Staff are very friendly and greet everyone who comes in. Hidden gem just south of more well-traveled areas, so I really hope the foot traffic is there to sustain this place. The food alone will keep folks coming back for sure. This place is a must visit when visiting downtown San Jose, you will be glad you did!

From the moment we walked in, the place smelled incredible—like smoky, savory perfection. The staff was immediately welcoming and went out of their way to explain how the menu worked, which made ordering a breeze. The customer service was truly exceptional; everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly and attentive. While we waited for our order, we found a spot to sit and unwind. Before we even made it back to the counter to check on our food, a staff member was already asking for our name and where we were sitting so they could bring it right to us—such a thoughtful touch. And when I asked for extra pickles, the guy brought me an entire cup of them. I was over the moon. Every bite was packed with bold, rich flavor. The meats were juicy and cooked to perfection, the sides were all delicious, and the portions were generous for the price. Everything we tried was absolutely fantastic. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit!!!

What a wonderful experience. This place got it going on. I had the fried catfish dinner. You get 3 pieces of fish, cornbread muffins or dinner roll and 2 sides. I chose the collard greens and Mac n cheese. The fish was a little salty for my taste but the greens and mac were good. The music was awesome. I felt like I was in a nightclub. My waitress was Kiera. She is a great asset to this new soul food restaurant.

Staff was nice, restaurant was clean, but the food was very underwhelming. The brisket and pulled pork were flavorless, and the brisket was chewy. The Mac & Cheese was dry, and the cornbread tasted like mix. Was very disappointed and expected more from a $30 plate.

Food was too salty and dry. The greens were salty, and the Chicken was dry and oily. The wait was so long I almost walked out. I didn't like it at all, the Mac abd cheese was flavorless and dry. Smh.

This is a down-to-earth good old-fashioned soul food if you like macaroni and cheese if you like greens if you like fried fish risk it was even better than I thought and haven't tried the ribs.
