Google
One of my longtime favorite lunch spots from the past. I no longer live or work in the area so my last visit was at least 10 years ago. . But I knew Jack’s would be the best place to enjoy a delicious lunch and relaxing atmosphere with a good friend. A Pennsylvania native, she enjoyed the ambience and character of Jack’s. Excellent service, delicious food made it a perfect lunch spot. Definitely worth the travel time. It was like coming home!

Steven S.

Google
Cute hidden away lunch spot. Authentic antiques. We tried a variety of sandwiches and beer cheese soup. Jack's Favorite was ours of choice. You have to come here just for the ambience. Support small business and historic properties!

Google
Great summer lunch place. Romantic, small, rustic and historical. Food is good, bistro style with specials. Grounds are very well kept, barn and Inn. Limited hours but worth the stop.

Tamara J.

Google
Amazing hidden gem. The building has to be one of the oldest in the area. Food is soup, salads, and sandwiches, but all unique and very tasty. Only difficulty is the hours, they are only open until 2pm. Highly recommend checking out this quaint little local restaurant.

Maura J.

Google
I work near the location and usually looove Jacks because they have the best soups and bread! Unfortunately, today it was not the same. The potato soup was terrible and tasted like something out of a cheap can. I'm so disappointed. If all you do is soup and sandwiches they should be really good and this time it was awful. (the bread was still good though)

Google
The restaurant came highly recommend on the Waukesha Facebook food group! The food is great! They are open for dine in, carry out, and delivery. The food price was a lil high. I got 2 sandwiches, soup n bread, and 2 sodas for $45. I still think its worth it. It feels good to support a mom and pop. Highly recommend! 7/8/20

Google
Delicious food and great service! I loved the outdoor seating and the historic building. Overall I enjoyed my visit!

Google
I went here for lunch with my mom. The restaurant was very unique and cute. Our food was great! They seemed a little understaffed with waitresses, so our service was a little slow. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Not what you're expecting given the location. It's tucked away and such a quaint little escape. The restaurant is in an old stone building that is filled with charm. Service was fantastic and extremely accommodating. Menu is stacked with delicious, unique takes lunch time favorites - soups, salads, sandwiches, etc. Opted for ME's Favorite which is moist chicken breast on potato chive bread with a flavorful mayo. Simple and delicious. Each sandwich comes with nice crunchy chips or a cup of coleslaw that is nicely seasoned (ask what it is because it may not be for everybody). My only comment is that this place isn't super accessible. It's a mild hike up uneven, stone pavers on a skinny path at points, which wasn't ideal for my grandma and her walker. Unfortunately, the outdoor patio also requires steps so we had to eat inside.

Yelp
It's a super cute cafe next to a lovely antique shop with really good American style lunch food. I saw lots of take out orders, so it's a pretty busy lunch time restaurant. The staff are wonderful and the owners pride in having Milwaukee based items. I really like the food and everything was super fresh. I highly recommend Kari's Delight!

Yelp
Good lunch spot. All the food tastes fresh because it is. Great soups and delicious sandwiches!

Yelp
If I could give today's experience a 0 star rating, I would. I've eaten at Jack's Cafe several times with friends and loved it, so I thought I'd take my husband today. The outdoor seating was nearly full, so we elected to be seated inside - and there was only a party of 5 besides us inside. It took 5 minutes to be seated; 15 minutes to get our drinks and place our order - two cold sandwiches and a cup of soup - and 30 minutes later it still had not been served! We asked our server to tell us how much longer we'd have to wait, and when she said she had no idea because the kitchen was busy, we asked the price of the soda my husband had and told her we weren't going to wait any longer. She said no charge and apologized for the inconvenience. But really, in fairness to us and all the other diners who came in after us, we felt we should have been told there would be an unusually long wait. Very, very disappointing experience. We left and went to Sobelman's in Waukesha and had our meals in front of us in 12 minutes from being seated!

Yelp
Very unique setting, has outside dining when it is warmer. Had the chicken enchilada soup with killer bread which was very good. A bit much oregano on the killer bread but still killer!. My friend had the chicken sandwich on oat bread with chives and said the chicken was very moist and the bread was outstanding. Wonder if they sell loaf of their bread? Saw a good amount of door dash order go out. Also had desert - a lemon torte and an almond cake. Both were very good. Very relaxing there, homemade and I will be back again and recommend it to anyone who is done with fast food and commercial food. There is also a very nice antique shop to browse in. Might be a nice place to host a bridal shower or a baby shower.

R F.

Yelp
Picked up my food from the cafe, took it back to work to eat and discovered that the chips were not in my order. They have always been included in past orders and in the description when ordering said the chips are included. Paid full price to only get part of my order.

Logan H.

Yelp
The food was eh, I ordered a chicken sandwich and they ran out and Al they had was turkey so I had to eat that. The staff was unbelievably rude. When I was talking to them about my problem they cut me off in a higher volume voice making excuses. When we asked to speak to a manager she said no we can talk to her. My first time there and won't be back. Need new staff!!!!!

Yelp
This place makes you feel like you stepped back in time with the ambiance and little village hidden off of Bluemound Rd close to industrial parks- I never realized it was there! The food was good too! I had the Caeser salad that had guac on it for an extra little something special. My friend had the chicken and rice soup which she really liked. Great place for lunch but they do have limited hours.

Yelp
The most incredible dinning experienced. The food is exquisite. The ambiance is breathtaking and the service is very friendly. This beautiful place transports you back in time to the 1800's once you step into what once was a barn and today's is called Jacks cafe. You have a variety of choices on the lunch menu and it has boutique wines and Wisconsin beer. Our server David was incredible , very welcoming and super friendly. Let's not forget the killer bread you can not have enough of it .

Chuck C.

Yelp
Very nice, but small, restaurant on the ground floor of an old barn, kinda a froo froo place for a group of ladies. The food choices are unique and just OK, the service is below average. Worth "one visit," decide yourself.
google avatar

Jeff R.

Yelp
As always and true to form, a great place to have a relaxing lunch and relax. Always busy and as usual, not a place to grab a bite and run, but rather take your time.
google avatar

Yelp
Jack's Cafe will always hold a special place in my heart! I got married here in June 2021 and it was the wedding of my dreams! Kari was able to accommodate all of my hopes and wishes for the wedding and all of the guests RAVED about the food. I can't wait to come back and visit and have lunch and reminisce about that perfect day!
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful fresh food, great staff. Second time there and I will go back. Killer bread is amazing!

Yelp
Jack's Cafe is an idyllic little cafe tucked back away from the main traffic on Bluemound Road. What was once a homestead is now the home of the restaurant, a quilt shop, and a country antique store. The gardens here are a real treat - they provide a beautiful backdrop when dining outside. The menu here is a bit limited, but both my wife and I were able to find several items that piqued our interest. We started with an order of Killer Bread, which was quite good. I had ordered the Baked Ham sandwich and my wife ordered the Chicken Salad sandwich on cranberry bread. My wife said that her meal was very good; she enjoyed the artisan bread and the fact that the sandwich was not overly mayo-ed, which can be a common problem at a lot of sandwich shops. I thought the baked ham was outstanding and I really enjoyed the sage-mustard-mayo combination. When we went, there was one person working as wait staff, but we didn't notice too much slowness - she was busy, but she was over to check on us quickly enough, and always quite polite. Overall, we'll definitely be adding this to our often-frequent list. With the great food and charm of the place, it was a real treat.

Yelp
Jack's is very much ok. Sandwich and soup were tasty, but not much food for the price. I will say that I really liked the capers in the tuna salad! The iced tea tasted kind of odd and chips tasted stale. Cute place, but the bricks on the floor made it difficult to move my chair. All in all, not that impressed and probably won't return.

Yelp
Hits the spot in so many ways - awesome soups, sandwiches made with quality ingredients and amazing bread, cozy setting and great service.

Yelp
Stumbled upon Jacks and were very impressed with the stone buildings. The lunch was great as well.

Yelp
NOT VEG FRIENDLY Went here for a business meeting. So this was not my choice, but im generally open. As a non consumer of animal products, this place was not for me. The ONLY thing i could eat was a plain salad. There is not a single other item that was dairy and egg and animal product free. To top off this terrible dining experience the waitress commenting she was surprised of my dietary restrictions because i appear "meaty". As someone who was picked on as a younger child for weight this was over the line and killed ALL goodwill i had for this place. I will NEVER EVER return.
google avatar

Gary K.

Yelp
I had been driving past this place for year not knowing it was there until earlier this week. Went in for lunch today. Really good food and one of the best Arnold palmers your going to find. Would have been four stars if it wasn't for the slow service. I witnessed a table sit for ten minutes without being acknowledged. They weren't sure if they wanted to stay or go. I guess I'm saying this is a good lunch spot if you want a high quality great tasting lunch, but not a great spot of you are in a hurry.

Yelp
Mainly a fan due to the quaint, folksy folk ambience of this old house. Not many tables and very few waitresses/waiters. I came with a group of 5. Most of us ordered the American Farm sandwich which consists of sliced turkey mixed with a cranberry mayo served on a whole cranberry infused bread. I believe they serve wine and possibly beer, but they're mainly known for serving their soft drinks in a mason jar mug. We got there at 11:30 since we knew it can be tough to get a seat. They would certainly make more money if they had some throughput. Our food didn't arrive until 12:30. Unfortunately one of our colleagues had to leave at 12:15 for a meeting. All in all, the service is really slow. Even if there was only 1 person making sandwiches, they really need to step is up a notch. I know I could have made those sandwiches in less than 10 minutes. There was really nothing spectacular about the food and I can't say it was worth the wait. At least I can say I tried it.

Yelp
Dear Jack, Cumin does not belong in creamy coleslaw. It ruins it, actually. All the food I've had at Jack's has been unremarkable. I want it to be awesome so badly, because I'm in love with the quaint, historic building. I love the exposed fieldstone walls, the covered porch, and the landscape. Oh how I would love to love the food... but I don't. Its taste doesn't offend me, but I walk away so bored. Veggie sandwich: good, not great. I love veggies, and this was a good sandwich. Just not like, wow, that's a freakin good sandwich. Turkey sandwich with cranberry bread: never again will I order. It just wasn't very good. The turkey was the watery sort that you get at the grocery store... just not my thing. Coleslaw: overpowering cumin flavor. Yuck. Lemonade: "is this Kool Aid?" Said I. Waiter service: Uber slow. Consistently slow. Every time. I'll dine at Jack's again, but it will likely stay at a solid 3 stars for me.
google avatar

Johanna K.

Yelp
Sad that this place is only open for lunch, and with limited hours. I've had their turkey and cranberry sauce sandwich and it was fantastic. That's all I've had each time I've been there, it was so good. Service has always been good, though "relaxed" sometimes - not good when you're in a hurry. But that's my fault. Adorable place, though a bit off the beaten path. Overall I'd love it if I could come here more often, but their hours prevent that from happening.
google avatar

Eric R.

Yelp
I'll make this short. They only serve lunch. Menu consists of primarily sandwiches (not toasted or paninis, but just sandwiches). Variety is extremely limited. The sandwiches all have mayo on them (flavored in one way or another). Those are all facts.

Yelp
30 Second Intro: Upon driving up to the restaurant, it was as if you were driving to a little farmhouse in Provence. The grounds were beautifully decorated with flowers, and the restaurant had a cute patio for outside seating. Upon entering, you find yourself in a small room made of stone walls, with several tables and a bar. The menu consists of salads and sandwiches, all of which sound so good that deciding on your meal is rather difficult! The Food: We tried some of the Killer Bread that others considered wonderful and it was, indeed, to die for. I had a cup of the soup-of-the-day and a turkey/cranberry sandwich. Both of which were Fabulous, and the dill/sage mayo that they put on the sandwich complemented the turkey and cranberry well. My colleague tried the deluxe egg salad sandwhich and she absolutely loved it. In summary: GREAT place to go for a sandwich and to get away from it all, if only for an hour. We will sneak back as often as we can this week!
google avatar

Erin L.

Yelp
Charmy little place in an odd location. Food was good especially the roasted red pepper and Gouda soup I had. It sold out quick though. The menu is limited and bit expensive but this place seems like the optimal "get away" from work during the lunch hour.

Courtney C.

Yelp
Went here with my family I had the chefs salad and king crab corn chowder. Everyone loved their food and service was great. Awesome small place I will be going back.
google avatar

Flee V.

Yelp
I still love the food here, but I do have to say that the sevice has fallen way off. Both servers here always seem rattled? and just on the verge of being too busy altogether. Takes a long time to have them take your order and an insanely long time to have them collect your plates and give you the check... and then u have to wait for someone to pick up your check so you can pay. Food comes out fairly slow too... not sure if that is kitchen or server related. This is an hour from sit down to check - every time... Other con... it is a VERY noisy place.. don't expect to here any of your party's conversation ... sound bounces off the walls here with only a few people in it... this time there was club music constantly subwoofing too.. ugh.. just no music please!
google avatar

Bryan H.

Yelp
Wow what a great little place. Had the Farm American Sandwich. "Wow" The turkey is fresh, the cranberry oat bread tasted just out of the oven. At first I thought there should have been more turkey on the sandwich, but after eating the house salad it was paired with, it was just the right amount. The atmosphere is quaint and perfect for a small lunch meeting, or just out with friends. Look for signs that says Cafe. I was a little confused at first as to what building and door to use. Go and Enjoy.

Rigel G.

Yelp
Amazing place. The soup and sandwiches are very tasty as well as the Killer Bread and desserts. Great, I mean galacticly great service. I felt like I was given royal service! Fabulous ambiance... I need more of this place.

Cheryl A.

Yelp
Cozy location, good food, friendly service. I want to come here all the time. I highly recommend the killer bread, it's worth every penny.

Yelp
Cute little spot that I expected to be over-run by the 65 and up set (though maybe coming in around 1pm lessens the chances of running into your grandmother's lookalike?) The menu is what you'd expect from a small lunch only spot; various salads and sandwiches and a couple of soup selections. They were crowded so my aunt and I sat at the bar, which was stocked with a surprisingly large wine selection. I had the egg salad sandwich on some of the most delicious bread I've had in a long time (potato chive or something?) and a cup of broccoli cheese soup. Both were tasty and not at all bland like I've often encountered in similar lunch spots. My aunt had the chicken salad on a bed a greens and enjoyed it as well. For dessert we had some sort of warm pumpkin crisp with a massive scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was delicious. Our waiter said that all the desserts are made in house to complement the season. We left stuffed and happy but then made the mistake of wandering into the little shops on the property. Both were so overly scented with some sort of pumpkin or apple spice scent that it actually made me feel sick. Do yourself a favor and go in those first if you feel so inclined. I have no idea how the women working could possibly stand the smell.

Yelp
First all watch out for the driveway it hasn't had a pave job in years it can seriously damage the tires struts etc of your car. Ordered the turkey sandwich, cranberry sauce etc, the bread was stale rather stingy with the fillings it had American in its name. There wasn't anything particularly hearty about it. The service is very short staffed but I don't blame the servers, owners are too cheap to hire extra help so we waited and waited. The water that's served with the meal in a mason jar is disgusting it tasted like well water. $10.00 for a sandwich and it wasn't anything special. The interior is very nice it has this "ladies who lunch" vibe. I don't think they come for the food but to socialize and because as my cousin said "it's just so super cute". Coming from the SF Bay Area I find Waukesha is seriously lacking in good restaurants. This place couldn't survive in California for very long, quaint only goes so far. NOT RECOMENDED and well water is gross.

Kat K.

Yelp
1) Get a real driveway. I almost tore the exhaust off my car. 2) Skimpy portions for high prices. It's the Waukesha way. 3) With Mama Ds, Rochester, Roots, etc, how will this place survive? 4) Waitress was VERY explicit that our potato chips were no longer homemade. Great. Next time, I'll bring my own bag of Lays. 5) Wait. There won't be a next time. I could patronize one of the many other sandwichy lunch places.

Kyle B.

Yelp
Very cute place - reminds me of somewhere my mother would enjoy. Charming atmosphere. Sandwiches are good - tuna a little mayo heavy. Egg salad w/ bacon & blue cheese was great (could have used a hint of curry or paprika). Prices a buck or so higher than I think they should be but not outrageous. $3 soft drinks annoying, Lovely place and nice experience in an otherwise generic little town
google avatar

Christy D.

Yelp
Service was horrendous, I don't think all waitresses are the same though, avoid the lady with too much foundation on, she is nasty and not helpful. They also auto- gratted us on a table of 5 which was not appropriate
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
Everything is really nice here: nice beer selection, shade filled patios, old stone building. The servers seem like they get slammed and a little flustered maybe, but everyone is always super nice and polite. All the food is really good, but THE BREAD IS AMAZING.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
Great food and ambiance but the service is very slow! I will definitely come back but only on a weekend or when I have lots of time to sit around. I got the American Farm sandwich and it was delicious, loved the bread.

Brittany L.

Yelp
Cozy cafe. I had the carrot soup and turkey sandwich special and both were delicious. Friendly service. I'll be back for sure.
google avatar

Casandra H.

Yelp
Two words: farm American. This sandwich is like thanksgiving dinner I'm a sandwich. The carved turkey is paired with an amazing fill mayo in cranberry oat bread. Their daily soups and desserts are always a good choice too!
google avatar

Regina C.

Yelp
We stopped in at the end of lunch time, around two, for sandwiches, soups, and salads. Everything was lovely, but we got really excited about the pumpkin cake dessert. The waitress sweetly assured us that she'd be there anyway, and it would be fine if we stayed to have some, even though they'd already technically been closed for fifteen minutes. And it was delicious!
google avatar

Dennis B.

Yelp
Pretty good spot , not a whole lot else in the area and a little bit hidden but generally a pleasant place for lunch .... Just had sandwiches but they were good and the service was
google avatar

Josh W.

Yelp
I had a great experience here! My server John was awesome! I was blown away with the service. I will definitely be back! "Killer Bread" is a must and the tomato basil soup was delicious too. Plenty of soups, salads, and sandwiches to choose from. If your in the area I highly recommend checking this place out.
google avatar

Megan B.

Yelp
It's quaint and delicious. I had the Farm American sandwich with Broccoli Cheddar soup and it was quite tasty. It seems like the sandwich size has shrunk since the last time I was there a few years ago, but the quality is still great and it was enough to fill me up for lunch. So many good things on the menu! I'll definitely be going back.
google avatar

Brendan B.

Yelp
This place was definitely an interesting find. I am here in the area on extended business and have pretty much eaten everywhere in the immediate area, and then I found this cafe on Yelp! They have a pretty cool rustic atmosphere, with old stone walls and old tools and things on the walls. We went there for lunch and had a good experience. Enjoyed the said atmosphere, the food was pretty quick to come out, the quality of food was good, and the staff were nice. The prices were a tad higher than expected for the quality, but it was fine. So, a pretty unique place, and I would definitely check this hidden gem out for lunch again.
google avatar

Stephen A.

Yelp
Jacks Pantry which I have known as Jacks Cafe has a good lunch menu. One issue with Jacks is that it can occasionally be slow during the lunch hour sometimes taking well over an hour. I really only eat here in the summer when its nice enough to eat outside which may attribute to the slower service since it does get a fair amount of people on nice days. I think the food is tasty and well priced and is a good place for people working in the area to check out.
google avatar

Pam E.

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches on their homemade bread! Old farmhouse turned restaurant. Intimate, quaint setting with cozy front orch for dining. A must!

Thomas C.

Yelp
Great staff and great food! Will keep coming back to this establishment. Keep up taking pride in your work!

Lucie S.

Yelp
Oh Jack...we will never be back..... This was my place, my Jewel, my lunch place in heaven. I have been coming here since 2012. I have never seen Jack have enough tables on a perfect weather day like yesterday or any other day. They used to have a guy and a girl servers. They were welcoming and worked hard to make sure you were happy and satisfied. I had not been here since they left. Nor had my friend. The food was perfect before. Good proportions, about the same menu items. Yesterday were two servers. One lady was very pregnant and pleasant. We got the other one. The "accountant" I will call her. So, as usual, we drive in missing the huge pothole. There it is my favorite restaurant on earth. Lovely full of spring surroundings and that porch that calls to me on perfect days like this. We got there at 10:50 to avoid the crowd. Crowd? When is the crowd coming? First we are greeted with a sign to wait to be seated. That's unneeded. we got to the porch and the accountant shows up with the attitude of how much money will they spend with a tight lip. We were excited to be there. We felt like we were I kinda interrupting her day. So we ordered our faves. Tuna and American chicken cranberry sandwich. Prices have increased, food has decreased. Where's the filling. Jack? Who has done this to your restaurant? Friend orders inedible iron water. I order Iced tea, server says, under her breath after I order, that's a coke product, I meant accountant, not server, sorry. She did not tell us, but I asked if they did free refills. Nope, you get 1 , said the accountant on soda and tea. Coffee? Free refills. Never saw the accountant smile. OK so, it's about 11:30. Not many people, the porch isn't even full. Noon, 1 table inside full, and a few open on porch. NOON! at Jack's! Never thought I'd see the day when there was no line out the door at lunch. Something very different has taken hold of my dear Jack's, a treasure ruined. My friend felt the same way. She noticed no business people there. Lots of business used to be there. I have brought in great numbers of people to your restaurant through the years and I feel a great loss. Jack's is where we celebrated, we planned, we laughed, we thrived, it had a great vibe. Now it feels like Scrooge's office, not even his house.

Yelp
Killer Bread is the best! My wife and I love this place for lunch. Sandwiches are home made and so are the ingredients they use. Love it here.
