I honestly am not fully sure how to rate the Jackson Inn as it was an experience not quite like any other I have ever had. My wife and I came in late and did not have a reservation and the other motel in town was full so we came to the Jackson Inn. The price was reasonable at $66 for a room with two double beds, but more than Paul's motel. While booking my room (at about 11PM) a woman came in and when the clerk asked if he could help she said, "Got ketchup?" He went into the back and came out with about 15 packets of ketchup like you see at fast food restaurants, she took it an left and then I proceeded to get my room. The lobby reeked of cigarette smoke, but the room smelled fresh and was clean. The deadbolt on the door was almost impossible to lock and difficult to unlock, but the doorknob itself automatically locked to the outside, which did result in my getting locked out of the room once. The bedspread was very soft and the bed was fairly comfortable. I did wake up with a backache, but that is not terribly uncommon and occurs any time I am not on the perfect mattress (sadly I do not know my perfect mattress and even my bed at home can give me backaches sometimes, but I digress.) The towels were clean, but obviously rather old and had become similar to sandpaper that I used when I worked as a carpenter. Soap was provided, but not shampoo. There was free coffee, but that was the extent of "breakfast." Overall it was not a bad experience and I cannot compare it to Paul's motel because I have never stayed there, but it was not a great experience either. It was just rather average overall.
