Cora

"Tucked away in the Castle Quarter Arcades, this small and personally run operation has just five tables and offers a surprise tasting menu full of fresh, seasonal flavours. Chef Lee Skeet is on his own in the kitchen, with his wife Helen delivering charming service out front. Skilful, pared-back dishes showcase quality ingredients and Lee’s eye for detail; he serves many of them himself, turning down the hip-hop soundtrack to explain his cooking with great pride. Their wine and oyster bar, Jackson’s, is situated on the floor below." - Michelin Inspector

We were booked into Cora last weekend; To which we ended up in Jackson’s due to the heat upstairs (totally understandable) however it did change the whole mood of the dining experience as it didn’t feel as intimate or quite what was expected. The food was great; the pasta was slightly bland but everything else was great and the man knows how to make sauces. The service was slightly odd due to them having to come up and down the stairs but friendly. I’d come back again if it was actually in the Cora dining room as that was the mood I’d expect for a £250+ dining experience.

Tried their new breakfast menu. It’s top notch! Had a full fry up with mackerel which was divine. Partner had the scallops benedict which were phenomenal! Friendly service and a really relaxed atmosphere. Lovely little gem in Cardiff arcade.

My husband and I were walking by and wanted a quiet place for a drink and possibly dinner. We saw it was quiet on a Friday evening and decided to pop in. Currently they have an Indonesian chef doing a pop up which was great and so we decided to have this option as they had a Vegan option for me. They also had vegan wine available. The staff are friendly. Funky place. Toilets need a clean though. Cash and card payments.

Came here for lunch and had a great meal. Would especially recommend the baked oysters and soft shell crab. Really enjoyed the wine too. The only thing I would mention is that I felt the menu lacked a veg side dish and it would have been nice if the chips came with some sort of aioli but I would highly recommend a visit.

Wines are top notch. We had Spanish red I believe it's a legato. Lovely and smooth. Food is ok - nothing to shout out. The Brazilian soup was ok - not as rich as I thought it would be. The seafood in it was nice and fresh. Lamb Curry had a great flavour. The downside was the rice was very crunchy and hard which made it less enjoyable. I really wanted to eat the lamb bun but it had run out. Love the vibe of the bar. Recommend it more for a drink than for the food.

Very few shops do raw fresh seafood, I love oysters so much! All of the food are nice, although there are limited choices. Staff are kind and supplying good service.

My partner and I enjoyed a dozen oysters with a lovely bottle of white wine. The oysters were incredibly fresh and the accompanying condiments really added another dimension of flavour. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. They also replaced a large glass of white wine for me free of charge as the glass was damaged. If you like seafood I'd highly recommend visiting.

Fantastic bar/restaurant, definitely try the oysters and pint deal. They have their own draft Oyster IPA which is very nice. Great wine selection and food is very good. A must visit.
