Roman Restaurant Jacopo Lands in the Heart of Old Montreal | Eater Montreal

"I noticed a large new Italian restaurant has landed in Old Montreal on Place Jacques-Cartier, serving Roman-leaning dishes as part of the Antonopoulos Group’s cluster of venues. Seen by some as a relaunch of the space that hosted a temporary pop-up last summer, Jacopo is solely an Antonopoulos operation; Giovanni Vella is heading the kitchen alongside Matthew Bell from Bevo Pizzeria. The menu skews toward a straight-up restaurant approach while still offering ample charcuterie, cheese, and other antipasti; classic-leaning pastas range from gnocchi pomodoro to cacio e pepe, and the secondi run from roasted lamb shoulder to braised rabbit and grilled octopus. The historic building has been refreshed: the outdoor courtyard now feels like a casual terrasse without tablecloths, and the indoor dining room mixes tidy, slightly eclectic vintage and mid-century furnishings. Jacopo is open every day from 4 to 11 p.m." - Tim Forster

started slow but this place redeemed itself x100. we came for our anniversary and were put in the crummiest table and our server didn’t notice us. after about 12 mins we politely flagged someone down and hes like “yeah im your server here i am”. the vibe was off so we asked to be moved to another section and also to one of the nicer empty tables. from then on the experienced was wholly redeemed. we got possibly the nicest server ive met in a long time. sorry i forgot her name but she was an angel. the bussers, hosts, and manager were all extremely kind and comped a few items to our table. the food was also EXTRAORDINARY. everything from the salad to the bread and the pastas. i didn’t realize they don’t do the cheese wheel on weekends so im gonna have to come back for that. the ambiance inside was also lovely and the decor is tasteful. overall id recommend as we ended up having a delightful experience. everything is reasonably priced IMO and the portions are decent (except caesar you might need 2! it’s also so good!!!). the drinks are also fueeeegoooooo

First time at this restaurant, came for Saturday brunch with a friend and had a lovely experience. The food was delicious and the service truly stood out — our waiter was friendly, attentive, and very personable. A great way to spend a relaxed weekend brunch. We’ll definitely be back!

We were fortunate to get an outdoor table without a reservation on a Sunday evening. Greeted with warm, welcoming smiles and seated right away under heat lamps that were perfect for the sunny but chilly evening. Not all restaurants in the area have heaters, and some had them but didn't turn them on. It was very nice to dine outdoors comfortably while enjoying the beautiful environment of Place Jacques Cartier which is so full of vibrant colors. Maeva was the perfect server. Friendly and courteous, attentive and quite charming, she only enhanced our dining experience. The food was delicious. We had the calamari, focaccia bread, and burrata e prosciutto, all of which were very good. Then we had the spaghetti amatriciana and linguine pescatore, both of which were delicious and satisfying. The passion fruit mojito was good as well. Overall, between the comfortable atmosphere, the wonderful service, and delicious food, you cannot go wrong dining here. We look forward to dining here again on our next visit to beautiful Montreal! Bon appetit!

We had a great experience at Jacopo in Old Montreal! We had a reservation for later in the evening but tried walking in a bit earlier around 7:30pm on a Sunday — they weren’t accepting walk-ins at that time, so we were lucky to have booked ahead. Definitely recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends, just in case. The ambience was wonderful — the heated patio is beautifully lit, the main floor has a cozy, darker vibe, and the upper level feels more open and spacious. It’s a surprisingly large restaurant, and despite the buzz, the music wasn’t too loud, which made it easy to chat and enjoy conversation. Our server was super friendly and spoke English, which made everything smooth. The mushroom gnocchi was delicious — perfect texture, great flavour, and just the right amount of sauce. They also have a nice selection of wines, and our food came out in about 15–20 minutes. We noticed a few birthday celebrations happening, and it’s clear Jacopo is great for groups or special occasions, with large tables available. Overall, the food was excellent, prices were fair (around $15–20 for appetizers and $25–35 for mains), and the setting makes it a perfect spot for a date night, dinner with friends, or a family outing. Highly recommend!

Google
Went for MTL a table and everything was delicious, started with a salad and the fish for a main, finally tiramisu for dessert. They have a very nice wine selection and the atmosphere is very nice! The second floor has a great ambiance and decor. Will definitely be coming back.

Google
We visited Jacopo to celebrate my sister's birthday. There were four of us. The atmosphere was super bohemian and elegant, perfect for a special occasion. The staff suggested a delicious red wine as a starter, followed by spectacular pasta, and not to mention the spectacular serving of the signature dish! Wow, I would go back a thousand times! I would love to!🥳🤩🤩🤩

Google
Freshly made pasta they said, so its harder to cook. For me a bit under cook (but could be preference?) but excellent service. Very nice environment doesn't matter seat upstairs or downstairs. Actually upstairs there's an "outdoor" space. Went to bathroom (upstairs) don't have phone with me.

Google
This was my third visit to Jacop. The ambience is great—it’s a classic spot in the Old Port—but I’ve found myself underwhelmed each time I go. This visit, we shared the bruschetta, carpaccio, and fried calamari, and I also tried a bit of their ravioli. The ravioli, which I’ve had twice now, continues to be really good. The entrees, however, were just okay. The carpaccio was fine, but not exceptional—I’d say Darling’s and Vandale’s carpaccio are better. The fried calamari needed more salt, and the portion of tartar sauce they provided was stingy. The bruschetta was the biggest disappointment: no flavor whatsoever. I was expecting the same dish I had last winter, but the menu has changed completely—two sticks of bread topped with flavorless ricotta and whole cherry tomatoes. For a $16 appetizer, it felt extremely lazy. Overall, everything was just okay and overpriced—classic Old Port restaurant vibes. There are definitely better options in the area.

Yelp
The suppli and tiramisu were delicious. I also enjoyed the gnocchi and ravioli but found them a tad too heavy for me personally. My friend mentioned that the aged steak was delicious as well. Loved the ambiance here -- feels like you're dining in Europe.

Yelp
Went to Jacopo for a dinner with my colleagues and my partner. The food was good, but the service was abysmal. The ambiance was not great either, as we had a really hard time hearing one another in our group of 7. The food was overall good - the osso bucco was delicious, the cheese wheel pasta was good but I think it needed a little more flavor (maybe I should have asked for some salt). The calamari was excellent and the bread was good too (they do not offer free bread as other restaurants in the area might). What made an otherwise good meal turn slightly sour was our service. Maybe the server was having a bad day, but he really seemed to take it out on us. To cut to the chase, he was very gruff with how he talked to us and answered our questions (made us feel kind of stupid for asking certain questions...), spilled on my partners shoulder and didn't acknowledge or apologize, and at one point slid the desserts down the table at me rather than putting them in front of those of us who ordered. He really just didn't seem to care. We weren't high maintenance individuals, so I'm not sure why there was so much attitude towards our table. Therefore, I cannot give Jacopo a higher rating.

Yelp
Ambiance is gorgeous so I'll give it two stars but that's about it for this place. The food was terrible. The gnocchi was undercooked and hard to bite in to. The carbonara had an awful smell and the basil pesto was just okay. For the prices they charge, the food is not up to par. I highly recommend avoiding this place.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
Everything here was FANTASTIC. I liked my gnocchi but the ravioli was the best thing I ate while in Montreal. It was creamy, savory and they did not skimp on the cheesy filling, thank GOD. The servers were all so nice and helped us decide what drinks and charcuterie board size to get. I really have no complaints, I loved every second of my time here. Oh and don't forget to *demand* the focaccia.
google avatar

Jana B.

Yelp
Our party of 6 was seated when we arrived as we had a reservation. Our waitperson, Leah, was friendly. We ordered drinks and one was never served. The focaccia was giant pieces of thick bread that lacked any saltiness. (Isn't focaccia supposed to be sprinkled with salt?) Now we waited for the entrees.... and waited. The tables around us filled up and the room got very loud. After an hour, entrees arrived. My orchiaetta with spicy sausage was tasty though there was little meat. Wish I would have ordered a more meat-centered dish though prices for those were very high. So this place was not a hit for me and I would not recommend. Couldn't wait to get out of there.

Yelp
Great place for a dinner date with hubby. It had an old world feel with rustic elegance. I loved the old brick walls and wood beams with the graceful chandeliers. Our server Xavier was great and personable. He helped me pick out a suitable dish. I loved how conscientious the staff was in cleaning the glassware so there are no spots. Very diligent in making sure things were clean. We ordered the Rosoto ai Frutti di Mare which was excellent and the Ragù a l'Agnello which was also good. The only critique would be the portion sizes were small for the price.

Yelp
We swung by Jacopo for lunch after strolling around old port. We could easily get a table on their outdoor patio without prior reservation. We ordered the eggs with potatoes, fruits and bread, leek ravioli and some bread on the side. The waiter messed up our order and added bacon to our ravioli. We then had to wait another 10-15 mins to get our veggie ravioli. We also ordered some bread in the side which took ages to come. I mean, it's just bread! Why would you take 15 mins for it? We ended the lunch with some tiramisu which was delightful and some nice strong Cortado and latte. Apart from the service, the food, ambience and atmosphere were amazing. The outdoor patio was heated which was helpful.

Yelp
Every single dish we ordered was absolutely amazing, from appetizers we ordered the burrata that was super fresh to the Cesar that was the perfect amount of dressing. Both pasta dishes were phenomenal. Highly recommend. The ambiance and service were 10/10 as well.

Yelp
Cute restaurant in old montreal in the main square. The pomelo spritz was good but a little more bitter than the hibiscus spritz. I got the margherita al turtufo which was pretty good. Service was decently quick and all the pastas looked good!

Yelp
The ambiance of this restaurant is wonderful and cozy; dimly lit with exposed stone, brick, and wood beams. The service was exceptional from start to finish, our wine glasses were never allowed to go empty. Our candle went out towards the end of dinner, and it's not even something I would have cared about, but they replaced it almost instantaneously without us saying a word! We visited during a 3 course dinner special, and everything was amazing. To begin, the house focaccia was some of the best bread I've had anywhere. The tuna tartare was presented beautifully, and the mango puree was such an innovative touch to the classic dish. I had the veal cannelloni while my girlfriend had the seafood risotto, and both were delicious. The cannelloni were cooked perfectly al dente, and the red sauce and filling were hearty. The seafood risotto was balanced, and both the squid and shrimp were tender and fresh. For dessert, we had strawberry lychee panna cotta, and mango cannoli, both of which were excellent. I have nothing but good things to say, and the next time we are in Montreal we will be back!

Yelp
The food was good but the service was incredibly bad. Ordered a glass of wine before dinner and hadn't received it even after the meal was done. Advised the waiter that and he apologized that he was busy-when your paying $40 for a meal you expect Better service than this. Not even a glass of water, unacceptable . Saw many other people that waited over 30 mins to see a waiter after being seated. Would not recommend or return.

Yelp
This restaurant is located on the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal. It has an inviting entrance and old town warmth when you enter. Service was outstanding, the waiter knew the menu and gave excellent recommendations. He was fluent in French & English. The Caesar Salad was quite possibly the very best I have ever had. The pasta was good, but if you don't like al dente noodles, ask them to cook longer. Incredible flavors throughout. This place was highly recommended & for good reason. I would absolutely go here again, a great experience in the heart of Old Montreal!

Yelp
Restaurant in the center of square. Nice location. Love the ambience. Be prepared to have lots for conversation piece as our 4 main entrees took an hour to come out. Food quality was ok, a bit disappointed for the quality of restaurant. Gnocchi was a bit undercook. Calamari and focacci were a hit. Service was not memorable.

Masiel C.

Yelp
Came in with a party of 6 at 8:20 PM and didn't get served until 10 PM. That's over an hour and a half of waiting with zero urgency or concern from the staff. No updates, no apologies, nothing. Just ignored. The customer service was beyond disappointing--rude, slow, and completely inattentive. It honestly felt like we were being treated differently than the other tables, and I can't help but wonder if our skin color had something to do with it. No one should have to question whether discrimination is at play when they go out to eat. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. This place doesn't deserve your business.

Yelp
This restaurant has some of the most difficult attitude to work with. They explained that there was an extremely long wait because they were overwhelmed. I asked for a ballpark estimate. The hostess refused to give it. I asked them how many people were in line before me? She refused to even answer. What turned me off this place was that we actually got the table within a few minutes. Would not recommend this place.

Yelp
Took some clients here for a dinner function. We were seated in kind of an atrium-style room with window panels in the ceiling. Unfortunately it made the room quite hot. They did bring in some fans but whew - it was warm! The menu was mostly pre-set, which is good. I had a short rib entre and it was so-so. A little tough/chewy for my liking. The other courses were good. Had a dessert cake that was gluten free and it actually tasted like it. I've had plenty of gluten free pasta and other dishes, however, this one I did not care for. Maybe I had an off night with my taste buds. Service was excellent for a large room and a number of people. I would have to try their regular menu and seating to get a better sense. I would try it again.

Yelp
It was a great spot in the middle of old Montreal and had no issues getting a seat outside. There was only a few servers so it took a while to get wine at first. The bruschetta and house focaccia bread was good. The pasta was delicious too.
google avatar

Yelp
I would like to give them 3.5 stars. 1. Location: amazing, beautiful view of the city and people walking by and at the heart of old town. 2. Food: not that good in taste and worst of all, they gave us a wrong meal we didn't order. We kept it, but it still didn't taste good. 3. Drinks: too sugary and the tables are wobbly it spilled. Soon after, the drinks are so sugary and stuck to the table cloth. As I pulled it, it spilled again. What a nightmare. 4. Service: not good The server didn't help with all the mess, especially since one of them was caused by her. So yeah, I can't recommend this place.

Yelp
Wonderful food and ambience. We had a sever in training , but she was oversee by a very experienced trainer and did great. Our pasta dishes was all spot on (ravioli , Ragu and gnocchi) and the bread was just soft and delicious. Location is also great ! When you finish eating you are in the middle of everything ;-) Highly recommended

Yelp
Honestly nothing special about this place. This place has been overhyped so much, I was so sad because I was expecting more. Service not the greatest, average I love that they brought focaccia with oil and vinegar. We got the bruschetta, the octopus Salad and the Gnochi. The bruschetta and Gnochi lacked flavor but the octopus Salad was very good. There are so many better place to go in the old port when it comes to Italian dining. I don't think I would go back
google avatar

Yelp
Not sure why so many bad reviews. Ambiance was beautiful. Service was great and we didn't have any issues. Ragu pasta with braised lamb was so good! Definitely recommend
google avatar

Lexie L.

Yelp
The food was delicious we went here based off a review that said that the food was as delicious if not better than Italian food from Italy and the food food was really delicious portion sizes were reasonable and the price I would say is mid range, but it is definitely worth it for the quality and the flavor.
google avatar

Joyce L.

Yelp
We ordered calamari as an appetizer, the sauce was tasty, the squid was tender. I waited super long to get the pasta wheel and the person doing the table service kept fixing his pants. My friend didn't get her pasta as well. We waiting for so long I between our app and main course. The restaurant was super loud since there were two parties in the same room.

Tilya A.

Yelp
Disgraceful. We waited over an hour for the cheese wheel to be available, which resulted in my meal sitting out for seemingly 20 minutes and was served cold. The cheese wheel table-side show was impossible for my girlfriend to see as a large party was blocking access. Her meal was also cold, and not cooked properly as the wine was not rendered out and the whole meal tasted of white wine. Extremely disappointing for a high end Italian restaurant.

Yelp
Overall: Would recommend visiting for the AMAZING cocktails and environment. Consider my rating a 3.5 -- my friends and I really enjoyed our experience at Jacopo, but I was far more impressed by the drinks than the food. Value: 9/10. My three friends and I each paid around $33 CAD ($23 USD) for the meal -- we shared a starter and split two pastas + two cocktails. I think ordering just one cocktail in the US would normally cost this much. Taste: 6.5/10. The fried calamari starter was great; not too greasy-feeling, and the right amount of sourness + crunchiness. The pastas, however, felt somewhat uninspired. The carbonara was very eggy, which could be good, but there was not a lot of other flavor nor were the noodles themselves notable. The gnocchi primarily tasted like standard tomato sauce; there was some fried scallion sprinkled on top that added a lot to the flavor but overall, I would not revisit for the food. Presentation: 9/10. Particularly for the cocktails, which were beautiful! We got the Bella Vita and Myka Lina. Ambiance: 9/10. Beautiful restaurant connected to a hotel near Old Port. Feels spacious and bright. We were drawn to the restaurant by the lively music outside, whereas the inside was very quiet -- bring the music inside! :-) Dined: December 11, 2022

Yelp
People were very nice and helped explain the menu. Food was just as amazing! Definitely recommend:)
google avatar

Yelp
Food service and ambiance, was excellent. We had salad as an entree and gnocchi with tomato sauce for lunch. Dugan was our server and Igor assisted. Good price, welcoming and it was a pleasure to eat there. I recommend it. It was pouring rain all day and this lunch made a difference. Thank you!

Julian T.

Yelp
Last night I came into the restaurant with my wife and daughter, the hostess was very nice the restaurant was at 40% capacity, she was about to give us a table until a waiter said no there is always waiting time and then she mumble something and said to us that we had to wait for about an hour with plenty of 4 seater tables open. I couldn't believe how you turn away a table like that, we went to Gio up the street and got seated right away. With excellent service, excellent food.

Troy A.

Yelp
Food here was amazing and the service was just as great big thanks to our server Laura for being very friendly and so welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
No: you can NOT come into this restaurant for drinks and apps. You MUST order brunch. What in the world? Ciao, small ya later.

Yelp
I had lunch at Jacopo's neighbor restaurant Sabrosa before exploring Old Montreal. On my way back, Jacopo caught my eye and I'm so glad I stopped. I ate outdoors but was pleasantly surprised by the gorgeous decor when I ventured indoors. The squid ink pasta was one of the best meals I ever ate. The panzanella was tasty as well. My server was a delight. I would highly recommend Jacopo to anyone visiting Old Montreal.

Yelp
We arrive at Jacopo for Happening Gourmand event. This is my second visit to Jacopo; previously, I enjoyed a delicious and beautiful brunch. Tonight, Let's say it was a memorable evening. Outside, we were freezing, but the luminous decors outside give you a slight warmth in your heart, then in the restaurant, full of people, the vibrancy is all over. Then our waiter Benjamin is the most friendly, animated person I have encountered. Initially, I wasn't sure he was annoying or clever, but honestly we fell in love with him. He is very knowledgeable about everything, and you can get into an easy conversation about any topics. He is so infectious, the couple beside us became part of our conversation. For happening gourmand, we had the table d'hôte menu. I had a honey old fashioned cocktail (A+, excellent) followed by a cauliflower salad (A+, perfectly flavored), then squash risotto with blue cheese (A-, creamy but little bitter) and apple pie with caramel and ice cream (C, too sweet). All this 29$ plus 10$ for the cocktail. Perfect deal! The restaurant itself is beautiful but the meat rack in the glass window is slightly disturbing. Service, food, and ambiance are excellent. Recommended!!!

Yelp
Solid meal but not all that special. Super middle for me. No green salad, lots of stuff with carbs and bread. Tried the chicken Marsala which was even richer than other places I've had it. No non alcoholic beers, but ginger beer. Slammed at the holidays. Nice decor. Had the panzanella salad- also good but no more than good. You'll have a decent meal here, it just won't likely be super memorable.

Yelp
We were here in the afternoon Monday, and they had no room for us. A week later on Tuesday night, we showed up and got a table. This Italian restaurant has good wine list. We have a bottle cabernet sauvignon Principi di Butera, good one and we love it. Grilled calamari are ok, Salad is good, Pasta and steak cooked just right. Service is great and professional.
google avatar

Kel W.

Yelp
This is a fantastic restaurant in Montreal Canada in old town. Easy walk over to a tasty treat of Italian dishes. A leisurely meal with wine, beer or cocktails. No rush here, meals are to be relaxed, enjoyed, savored. The atmosphere is warm & welcoming (reservations a must). Beef Carpaccio salad, chicken marsala. Outstanding service in an old stone building from 1700's. Put this restaurant on your list next time your in the beautiful city of Montreal.

Yelp
Prices are very standard for Old Montreal bit I'm happy to report the food is absolutely delicious. The mortadella is delicious and perfectly slices thin..the burrata is amazingly simple and perfect. Extra creamy and just lovely...only wish it wasn't served so chilled..but I'm guessing it needs to be? Anyways the service is top notch and the location could be more in the heart of things.

Lisa C.

Yelp
We had an amazing food and service experience at Jacopo this week. Melanie went above and beyond setting our group of 14 up, when we didn't have a confirmed reservation and set us up in a beautiful table upstairs. The food was first class and I strongly recommend the grilled calamari and the Orecchiette con Rapini & Salsiccia. Everyone loved the food and the ambience. First class Montreal experience that made our weekend very memorable. Thank you Melanie and Jacopo!! Magnifique!!

Yelp
Jacopo could be a very nice experience if it weren't for the rude and pretentious staff. The location itself is nice along with the overall ambiance of the restaurant except for the strange nightclub music in what wants to be an upscale Italian eatery. I had probably one of the worst experiences of any restaurant due to a waiter with barbell in the bridge of his nose. I should mention I'm vegan and there really wasn't much at all that was vegan on this menu but I've had plenty of Italian restaurants accommodate me. When I asked if they could make something with vegetables in the pasta with no dairy or anything I was immediately written off and told "no you can't do that" with an eye roll from the waiter. I was so taken aback I didn't know what to say especially since I didn't want to make a scene in front of my girlfriend. I flagged down another waitress who said I should be able to be accommodated and they ended up making me a pasta with a few pieces of uncooked carrot and Brussels sprouts. I should also mention I had to ask several times for bread and olive oil to be brought to the table and our waiter was very inattentive even though we didn't reciprocate his disrespect. My advice for this restaurant would be to train their staff to be more accommodating with people's needs and get rid of waiters who don't care to make the experience enjoyable for others who are coming in. Also to get with the times and understand not everyone is going to want meat or dairy in their food and there isn't anything wrong with that

Yelp
Phenomenal curate service If you are looking to he wowed this is the place for it- want a restaurant with quality food, a great view and quality attentive service -this is the place for you. Brandon the manager and Annissa the waitress were out of this world. From selected custard dishes, attentiveness to detail, and quality service this group blew my mind with amazing service quality food, a great atmosphere. Brandon was exceptional Anissa had a great service. Food wise: highly recommend grilled calamari for appetizer, it has a church and chewiness with the touch of health that your typical fried calamari can not compete with. For seconds choose the octopus you will not go wrong. So delish it will surprise your palate and satisfy your senses. For desert choose anything and you will love it, you can not go wrong with any selection. And most of all ask Brandon for some flaming shots - they will blow your mind. All in all 5 star device. Best restaurant I've been to yet, it's better than jatoba, better than bazart better than makro pecheries. Just wow

Yelp
There is nothing I hate more than being served lukewarm soup. And that is exactly how they served the mushroom soup...... and my main dish (risotto) was actually served at room temperature. My wife's beet salad looked like it had been pre-prepared hours ago..... probably massed produced and each plate was put in the fridge until someone orders it. Service was good (as was the cocktail) that is unfortunately the only good thing I can say about this place....

Matt G.

Yelp
If you are looking for a below average restaurant in old Montreal, look no further. Sad because Montreal has so much more to offer. But not Jacopo. It's Italian so I ordered gnocchi with eggplant. The gnocchi was abominably heavy as lead - I am 100% sure it was not made in the restaurant- and undercooked but I doubt more cooking would help. The tomato sauce was uninspired and that's a compliment. It's hard to believe a chef tasted this gnocchi and said "yes!". But they served it anyway. Wife had a similarly uninspired Caesar salad. Also some bruschetta that is not worth mentioning. Keep looking is my advice.

Dasko K.

Yelp
I came here on a friday night at the recommendation of a friend. Understanding it was a friday night, I waited for more or less 30 minutes for my appetizers and an hour and a half for my entree. When the food came, it was pretty good. Nothing to write home about, but i would say above average quality. But the service was ice cold and while waiting for an hour and a half for my food, there was almost no indication of when it would be coming, despite the long wait times. Try it on a less busy night: not at peak hours. It's simply not worth it.

Yelp
Came here for a girl's brunch on Sunday with a reservation. We were seated quick enough at an outdoor table and the people watching was spectacular and the location is definitely great. Now, I am not a picky eater but I am a specific eater, as in, if I specifically say "no prosciutto and no pancetta please, I do not eat meat and especially NO pork" I am not just saying this for kicks. The server read all of our orders back to us and didn't call out my no meat request, so I said it back to her and made sure that she heard me, all seemed on course. My eggs benny arrived, with prosciutto, I saw it there clear as day as did my two brunch mates. Our server was not there so I flagged down another server, she saw the meat and immediately apologised and took my plate back. A few minutes later, our server came back out with the eggs benny, this time with no meat, cool cool, things are looking up. A short while later, she comes by with my breakfast poutine side, I grab one forkful and it is one bit of potato, lukewarm rosée sauce annnnnnd a ton of juicy fat pancetta! The next time the server came by, I showed her the poutine full of pancetta and said that she could take it back please because again, I do not eat meat or pork. She sort of stared at me and then I pointed out that my eggs benny had meat on them as well at first so I was quite disappointed. She then proceeds to tell me that my eggs benny never had meat on them as she saw them plate it herself, that's a a blatant lie unless she was referring to the second attempt at my breakfast. I get it, meat and pork are probably delicious, but when I ask for my meal to not have any of it, I don' want it. Calling me a liar on top of screwing up both parts of my meal was not ok and honestly the food I did have was cold, the rosée sauce was slimy and the eggs were tasteless. I would give a star and a half because the bellini was actually delicious but do you think she compensated me with one of those for free? Nope. Also when the bill came, the menu clearly stated that brunch bellinis were 10$ but she charged us 13$ each. This was corrected after some back and forth and showing her the actual menu, but after the poor food service I just wanted to pay and go elsewhere. Would not recommend.

Yelp
A very popular, trendier Italian restaurant smack dab in the middle of a tourist area. A place you need a reservation for. Prices are quite standard for pasta but up there for the other entrees, which I kind of wish I would've been able to try but was craving pasta that night! And I was craving pasta the whole time I was in Montreal, to be honest. It made me realize that we're a bit spoiled for some fantastic Italian options in Vancouver... For starters, we got the wild mushroom soup with croutons, speck (similar to bacon, no fat), and truffle oil, as well as the grilled calamari. The soup was very nice--texture was creamy (really don't like gloopy cream of soups thickened with a lot of starch or flour) and the truffle oil and speck were perfect garnishes. The grilled calamari was excellent--cooked perfectly so that the squid literally melts into your mouth. Few things worse than a rubbery calamari that chews like gum!! My partner got the carbonara, and said it was too cheesy. I thought this was ridiculous and impossible. How can something be too cheesy?! But I tasted it and saw what he meant. It was very cheesy (which, to me, is a good thing) but was not creamy enough to temper that cheesy funkiness a bit. So it turned out a bit dry, and we missed the creaminess of more egg. I thought it was alright (definitely not the best carbonara I've had) but it seems to be a matter of preference. There was apparently guanciale in there which was near undetectable, which was definitely a disappointment. We were seated near a glass case that held a variety of (packaged) smoked and cured meats so were hoping to see that reflect more in their dishes. I got the squash ravioli in browned sage butter with toasted almonds. It was alright. There was so much sage in the sauce that it overpowered everything else. With the toasted almonds, the dish was actually quite bitter. I was offered a grating of cheese which I gladly took and the salt from it definitely helped. I couldn't taste the squash in the raviolis unfortunately, because that sweetness would have helped as well. Overall, it was alright! The grilled calamari was really fantastic, but for great pasta, you might want to look elsewhere. Service was also ok as well, but took forever for my water to be refilled. It was a busy night so I don't blame them.

Yelp
3-1/2 star for food as it took a while for it to come out but waiter is kind enough to let us know and I told them is ok. 7oz steak with scrambled egg wasn't great at all. Looks like the steak has been taken a very hard beating as there was still many nerves to chew into and for the price is not worth it.Out French toast is good. 5 stars is for the hostess Chloe she was wonderful and she is the one that got us to tried the place. Our waiter S.. sorry I can't pronounce his name. He too was a great waiter. 20% fir his great service.

Yelp
Arrived on a Monday early evening. Space was crowded but we're seated immediately. We had the chargrilled calamari appetizer and lamb and black ink pasta for entrees. My cocktail Bella Vita was amazing, my sister's Myka Lina, not so much. The chargrilled calamari was the best I ever had! Amazing. The lamb entree was lacking flavor.

Yelp
Came here after the F1 qualifying race to have dinner. We lucked out and were seated before they had stopped taking in customers. Because it was super busy, it definitely took a while for us to get our food. BUT, once our food arrived... my goodness, everything was delicious! We shared some cocktails and bruschetta. I got the mushroom risotto (which was delicious) and my partner got the carbonara (he finished his plate so fast)! Beautiful views and we lucked out that we got seated because it stopped raining so the skies were clearing up and it was beautiful!

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience to day. Kevin did the best Aperol Soritz I have ever had. My Panino Porchetta was really nice and the salad dressing they make for the greens is perfect.
