Jacques Torres Chocolate - Dumbo

The store is very big and has some seating as well. The chocolate is definitely on the fancier expensive side but great for gifts. They had lots of pre-packaged sets but you can also create your own box. Lots of NYC themed packaging as well. We loved all the different flavors. The dark chocolate was intense and smooth without being too bitter. Hard to believe it was 80%! One note: Gift cards purchased online cannot be used in the store! We found that out the hard way.

Very thick, true to taste, good balance of chocolate and sweetness, very polite people and service, helped us with locating the store when we called them, very great hot chocolate, tried classic, wicked hot chocolate has cinnamon, they give free trial samples to taste.

This is a large and well set up store with excellent staff and so many products available. We of course took away multiple cookies and some dark chocolate. I appreciate that it is explained where the chocolate is sourced from. The cookies were amazing and are definitely a favorite of mine!

Unlike his original chocolate shop in Dumbo over 20 years ago, there isn’t a chocolate factory on site. However, the chocolate is just as delicious as I remember it! So many offerings, truffles, gelato and their delicious big chewy cookies! Not many cold drink options, just water and hand crafted coffees and milkshakes. You can even buy the mixes to take home or hot chocolate mix. We had a nice break after walking the Brooklyn flea on a Saturday afternoon.

I love Jacques Torres Chocolate, I come here often. The customer service is always amazing. But recently the store has been ice cold. I can’t shop or sit without freezing. Absolutely no heating for customers. I came here in the summer and there was no air conditioning, now in 4 degree weather, there is no heat. I will not be coming back anymore. There are several other stores in DUMBO that don’t make their customers uncomfortable.

The best Chocolate Chip Cookies ever!! I buy the chocolate chip cookie mix regularly and exclusively. The staff at the store is always amazing and I met Thee Jacque Torres in person! He’s wonderful, Jacque made us the yummiest hot chocolate drinks, and gave my husband great tips on how to make cookies for me. Thank you very much. Amazing. This is truly worth giving 5 stars and more. His cookies are easy to make and delicious. They are a hit with my entire family. Thank you Jacque and staff.

Extremely overrated and seems like a total tourist trap… nothing about this experience felt authentic in the slightest. I have been to many bakeries in France and this place would struggle against my local cafe. I was very very excited to try their cookies and hot chocolate but was extremely disappointed in the quality. The cookie both looked and tasted like it was baked last week and I wouldn’t normally be this harsh but for a place that’s specialty is chocolate I was not impressed plus.. its not exactly cheap. There is not much to complain about with the service.. they were kind and efficient. Even so I would recommend going some where else.

Excellent neighborhood chocolatier. The staff is very nice and superb helpful. And the chocolate is delicious. Also, I recommend the Wicked Hot Chocolate with s tinge of spice. It's perfect for a cold day.

I only tried the chocolate chip cookie but didn't think it was particularly good. The texture was hard but not crisp and the flavor was pretty standard for a chocolate chip cookie. Their other items might be better but I wouldn't recommend their cookie.

This was a good experience. The chocolate chip cookie was good but was a little hard. If you dip it in the classic hot chocolate it is a great bite. The service was super friendly. The hot chocolate is very rich and tasty.

We went initially for ice cream. However, the freezer was broken so they only had limited flavors of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry. So we opted for the cookies. They were large and looked good through the glass. However, was disappointed by the taste. Nothing special. Overall I'd say average

Amazing! I love chocolate but am pretty picky... this place had incredibly good plain chocolate bars (I had the dark) and the two bon bons/ truffles I tried were delicious! I had the dark espresso and the gf dark almond crunch. Friendly staff as well. If you like chocolate I would stop here! Also it wasn't insanely priced!

I visited the grand central terminal location and had their frozen hot chocolate. It was rich and creamy, and tasted amazing. They put their handmade whipped cream which tasted just perfect (not too sweet) and I loved it. It was $6 and the amount was a lot. I definitely recommend this for chocolate lovers. I could taste the cacao and the chocolate was not too sweet which I loved.

Love Jacques Torres chocolates. It is sadly getting a little harder to find their stores but so happy to know about the one in grand central. Absolutely love the passion fruit milk or dark chocolate hearts.

Food: 4/5 I've had the pleasure of trying there delicious chocolate cookies, hot chocolate and there caramel and chocolate covered popcorn. All which are Belgium dark and regular chocolate. And it's SO GOOD! My goodness. The chocolate taste so rich and fresh. Service: 5/5 Staff are friendly, attentive and greet you upon walking in which means a lot. Ambiance: 3/5 Nothing to fancy but they have a wide space for seating and to eat. There are an array of different chocolate variations to choose from. You'll have a ball. If in the area stop it and try them out.

Definitely come here. The gentleman that was working was super nice and very patient. My friend and I sampled every ice cream flavor and he did not rush us at all. The ice cream prices are also great for the area. I got the cookies and cream scoop, which is made with the actual chocolate chip cookies they make. I also got a banana scoop, which is made with real bananas, no artificial flavoring at all! They have other delicious flavors as well. The place has more than enough seatings with outlets as well.

I came here for hot chocolate after ice skating with a friend. There was a cafe at the Glide ice rink but why pay for overpriced hot chocolate made from powder when I can get Jacques Torres hot chocolate which is a five minute walk away? The hot chocolate was made to order so it was hot and super rich. I ordered the wicked hot chocolate which had a bit of a kick. I also got their chocolate chip cookie which apparently is the #1 chocolate chip cookie in NYC. I can see why since it's quite large and had a lot of chocolate chunks. There's a few tables inside. There's no restroom but you can go to Time Out Market across the street. The staff were very friendly and fast. I would definitely be back especially in the winter!

I tried their famous chocolate chip cookie, and it was alright. Flavor-wise it was pretty balanced and not overly sweet, which I appreciated. But it was missing the wow factor that you get from Levain or Culture Expresso (two other solid spots for a chocolate chip cookie). The one thing I'll say is that the cookie I got was room temperature- it's possible it tastes much better warm, as is usually the case for cookies. Might come back to try their hot chocolate though, which looks intriguing.

YUMMY HOT CHOCOLATE! All you need is a tiny cup because it is incredibly rich. Absolutely loved it, worth every Penny. Very sweet employees. Cute shop with lots of great gifts and sales items.

Had high hopes for the hot chocolate, but it's very bitter. I guess it's a very traditional kind of chocolate, but not up to my likings of sweetness. I love dark chocolate, but this was just not that. Even the "whipped cream" on top was not sweet. If you're coming for the traditional "American Hot Chocolate" this place will let you down. We had some chocolates and it was a bit too bitter as well for our liking. Too overpriced for us.

If you're looking for hot chocolate that is decadent but not too sweet, this is the place!! I got to try their Wicked and Classic hot chocolates and loved them both! The classic one was very rich with strong cocoa flavors. Loved how it wasn't sweet like other NYC hot chocolates. The consistency was just right. Not too watery but not too thick. Yiu can opt to get free cream which was very fresh. The Wicked chocolate features ancho and chipotle chilies. As an oxacan chocolate lover, I though I'd like this more but the chilies were slightly more bitter than expected. Nevertheless they brought a nice little spice and smokey kick to the delicious hot chocolate. Also got a chocolate chip cookie dipped in chocolate to go. There was generous amount of chocolate chunks and it wasn't too sweet. The cookie itself was chewy and on the drier side. Edges were crispy and the dipped chocolate at the back was also yummy as a nice addition. Service was quick and the store itself is pretty spacious, although not that many tables were available for customers. They also have lots of other goodies and ice cream. Bathrooms only for customers.

The hot chocolate here at Jacques Torres Chocolates (JTC) was the best I've had in my life. The drink was so chocolatey, creamy, and not too sweet (it seems like they used dark chocolate). We each ordered a small hot chocolate and that was so rich. I don't think we could've finished a large cup of hot chocolate just because of how decadent it was. They even had spiced hot chocolate or hot chocolate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We will definitely be back again to try those drinks out if we're visiting during the holiday season. JTC sells chocolates and other desserts too. Yum.

Came by for their classic hot chocolate, wife had a craving for it. We were also celebrating our son's 20th birthday. As wife is enjoying the realist hot chocolate you can buy. The workers approach my son with free samples of hot chocolate, and a gift of chocolate cookie, and a chocolate heart!! Talk about wise workers, friendly, kind and incredibly thoughtful. The owners are lucky to have them.

Their chocolate is very rich and satisfying. It kept my sweet tooth satiated for a while and I didn't need to eat too much chocolate either.

I had not had the chef's rich hot chocolate for a while and just took a chance and grabbed one as I was in Grand Central. I am happy to report the drink is still like drinking from Willy Wonka's river! Now, some of you may be so used to watery Swiss Miss or Starbucks mix so this may not be your cup of...cocoa. :) This is not "chocolate tea," as my husband calls it. You should expect not a thin hot cocoa but rather that you will experience a ladle of molten lava from the Chocolate Factory's river. You shall not be disappointed. I do miss the orange marmalade-y flavor they once added in on request, just to mention.

Pretty good assortment of chocolates - especially for truffles and Easter chocolates. The chocolate isn't too sickeningly sweet, and they have adorable animal shaped chocolate that I bought for Easter. Definitely want to return to also try their hot chocolate.

Ordered some of his cookies from my house in Arizona. I got a good deal as they were 12 for $50. They used Belgian chocolate and the cookies packed a dense punch and alot of calories too. The cookies were very good and was glad to try things that are currently trending in the internet.

The best frozen hot chocolate in the world. This is a highlight for me in Dumbo. The staff is wonderful, shop is immaculate, there is a lot of seating and e 'em places to charge up our cell phones. The chocolates, cookies, baked goods & ice cream is the best in New York City. Surprisingly prices haven't got much in the past 10 years. They have specialty gems for the holidays and ship all over the country. We have sent & received many gifts from here.

I tried the hot chocolate. It is too chocolatey, very thick, and too sweet. I could barely down a few sips and had to wash it down with water.

What can I say! This is the best chocolate around. Their cold/hot chocolate is out of this world. Just beyond awesome. The service, the sitting area to have it makes this must go place in DUMBO. If you like chocolate, come here and you'll be glad you did!

a familiar story outside this chocolate shop: "a young child crying in Dumbo. her parents push her stroller past Jacques Torres's Chocolate shop. the famous chocolatier appears at the entrance and says 'little girl, there is no reason to cry when there's so much chocolate to try' and then hands her a chocolate lollipop turning the frown and waterworks into a sugar-fueled smile." this story is true and should ring familiar to anyone who isn't perpetually hypnotized by their smartphone as this type of story happens everyday someplace in NYC. while simple grace and common kindness seems to be fading from landscape, it is great to see this small shop filled with chocolates, ice cream, and more is still thriving with the same energy and friendly vibes when it first opened years ago. stopped by recently, where fine chocolates and ice creams were enjoyed. everyone re-living a sliver of their childhoods with each bite of chocolate. while Jacques Torres wasn't there the day we visited...he was there years ago and that young girl will soon be a teen and is still a fan. if there is any lesson to be had here and in life: make memories.

We've loved Jacques Torres Hot Chocolate (both prepared in-store and the canned mix, regular and Wicked) for years (decades?). It's been a while, but recently purchased a 14 oz can for $25 (!) from their Grand Central location on 12/10/2024. After getting home we excitedly mixed it as per directions with steamed whole milk, but sadly it just doesn't taste like it did before. Now it's just a very mild chocolate taste with almost no spiciness. This hot chocolate used to be something special with an intense, rich taste. Frankly "Tepid" would be a much better description than "Wicked". Very disappointing, as the original product had really been something special and worth the premium pricing.

One time James Beard Pastry Chef of the year, now most known for his work as a chocolatier sourcing his own cocoa beans and premium use of ingredients. Jacques Torres was one of the first to elevate cookies beyond something Mom makes after school, now Levains and Jacques Torres cookies are NY destinations for fans of the sweet. The cookie is large and made from bread flour so it has a distinct crispy taste and isn't soft and tender. It has an appealing appearance with an even color speckled with dark chocolate and is flatter than Levains puffy cookie. I enjoyed the salt used in the cookie and this sounds crazy but I would have preferred it with less chocolate. It was a bit too much and felt like a chocolate bar mixed with bits of cookie instead of a cookie with chocolate chips in it. this place has the thickest and most chocolatey hot chocolate i've ever had - it literally tasted like melted dark chocolate. this isn't really my style, but it was still pretty good the cafe setup is interesting. all the tables are basically against a single wall (despite the cafe being pretty big), so i did feel it was a little tight

I loved this chocolate shop! They have a nice selection specially now that Easter is coming. A friend recommended the hot chocolate mix, of course I bought a few other chocolates for gifts. They also have hot drinks for purchase.

The cookie that I got was REALLY good (I recommend the chocolate dipped chocolate chunk cookie). It was crunchy and delicious. The hot chocolate was wayyyy too rich, though. It was like drinking a chocolate lava cake. I honestly never thought I would say that a hot chocolate needed more milk, but this drink was much too intense. I think that I might have been a little misled by other reviews on here that said this is the best hot chocolate in Brooklyn.

We hit Jacque Torres every time we're in the city. It's worth the ride in from Manhattan. The DUMBO location is charming, and the staff is always friendly. There is a wide variety of preboxed chocolates to choose from, but individual pieces are also available in the build your own boxes. Must tries for me are the cookies (both OG and chocolate dipped) and the thick and rich hot chocolate. I savor each sip, and I'm always sad when I reach the bottom of the cup. Yeah, it's that good. We have ordered delivery through Goldbelly to our home, but it's always special to get the cookies fresh from the shop. There is a small seating area if you'd prefer to eat your treats in the shop, but we prefer a stroll through DUMBO to take in Brooklyn's cool vibes.

I finally got to try their famous hot chocolate! It was very rich so the small was the right size for me! I asked for extra milk to cool it off and to try to dilute it. I stoped by to pick up a few gifts for my future mother-in-law's birthday. She loves their original cookie dough mix! They also had lots of other chocolate pieces as well as ice cream. It's a cute shop to visit if you're in Dumbo but it is mostly a takeout place.

Only had the hot chocolate here, but I think that's about all I would try after having it. It was way too thick, hard to drink, not much milk in it, and just tasted too bitter. Make sure to bring some water if you want to try this drink.

I really like the banana ice cream. I'm just confused why the sampling was limited to 2. What if I wanted 3 scoops, harder to decide.

Our friend recommended the cookie here, so we decided to give it a try. We had the chocolate chip. Pretty good. No complaints from me. I had a piece of the 80% chocolate truffle. Quite rich and decadent. Could easily see this bring my go to chocolatier if I lived in the neighborhood.

Value Full disclosure, prices are higher than your checkout counter chocolate bars you may be used to, but still reasonable for the quality. If you're on a budget, the dipped chocolate cookies are filling, and big enough to share. Secret Tip Hands-down some of the genuinely best-tasting no-frills* hot chocolate during the cold months. (Iced hot chocolate in the summer, as well as a full gelato selection!) *No-frills meaning they don't pile on copious amounts of toppings to simply wow you with looks. This tastes smooth and rich, a truly decadent experience.

Fun store to visit if you're a fan of Jacques Torres and they have good selection of chocolates. Highly recommend the wine flavors because the insides are so creamy. The chocolate boxes are reasonably priced and they also sell boxes of other chocolate snacks, ice cream, and other goodies.

This place is super cute and had a great selection of chocolates, covered almonds, caramels, truffles, etc. Came in for the hot chocolate and it was very rich. You'll definitely feel satisfied with the small. Didn't realize that they closed at 7 and we got there at around 6:50 but they didn't rush us and didn't make us feel like we were an inconvenience. Really appreciated that and I hope to come here one day with time to actually sit and enjoy!

It's a cool place to buy any manner of packages of chocolate goodies for friends/family/to eat at home later yourself. The chocolate chip cookie is very good, and they offer to heat it up for you which is wonderful. The hot chocolate is really where this place shines; Rich and thick and creamy and everything hot cocoa should be. It's the best I've had in the city so far.

Their hot chocolate is delicious and well worth a try. It is very rich, so the small size goes a long way! Their chocolates are very good quality, and the cookies are also delicious (and huge). Stop in to pick up a gift or have a snack when you are visiting Dumbo! This is more of a takeout option than a place to sit and eat, but there are plenty of places to take your treats outside in the area.

This place serves one of the best hot chocolates in town. The lady behind the counter went above and beyond in helping us pick our choice of hot chocolate (wicked). The place looks spacious inside, however, due to covid they don't allow inside seating. No chairs and tables outside so you end up eating / drinking while walking; no big deal, anything goes in NY.

Cookie review: The cookie is gigantic. Excellent quality chocolate and cookie. Its a crunchy cookie, so if a big gooey cookie is your thing this is not for you. Its my second favorite cookie in NYC and my favorite crunchy cookie. Its expensive but worth it. PS: everything in the shop looks delicious.
