"This reliable longtime South Park establishment is a fave among locals and the Chinese for its basil tofu, eggplant chicken, and Singapore rice noodles, with just the right balance of curry and spice. Classic faves like General Tso’s chicken ($16.95) appear, too. A mostly white and warmly-lit dining room makes it the designated spot to bring friends in town or for a quiet, casual dinner. However, its takeout business is just as popular." - Shindy Chen

Used to go there a lot and then a few years ago, they raised their prices and made their portions smaller. Do not waste your time. You’re better off buying dog food. Worst Chinese restaurant in Charlotte and I have ate this for years and it’s just gotten so bad. Biggest rip off and no flavor. Nothing authentic about it. Go microwave Chinese food from the grocery store. It’ll taste better.

My new favorite place. I ordered plain lo mein, beef broccoli combo, and general tso chicken. Everything was delicious, just with the chicken was crispier. We have gone back multiple times and love the crab rangoon and chicken wings.

Rayven K

Google
Quiet place with a dark and intimate ambiance. Quick service, clean establishment. I ordered the seafood delight, $17.95. It comes with brown sauce, not lobster sauce like some other Chinese food places do. There was too much brown sauce for me , but otherwise, the food was fresh.

Very good . Coming from Chicago where food is excellent at most restaurants, this is definitely a compliment. Only tried the orange chicken, chicken fried rice and crab rangoons.

B: update* Food has gotten sooo much better! Service is incredible and pricing is amazing. I cam bring the family without feeling pain in my wallet! I went in to have a quick bite I waited to get a table bc only 1 person was working outside of the kitchen. She was running back n forth between tables. She took my order n brought my food quickly. Instead of up charging me for fried rice I had to order a plate of fried rice. Overall, it was really tasty and rice was fluffy. 21 for a lunch special and an order of fried rice was more than I'd like to pay for a quick meal but I ate lunch and had enough left over for 1 kiddo to eat my takeaway.

Dina K

Google
We love the Shrimp Hibachi, Orange Beef, all of the fried rice dishes, pad Thai, sesame tofu and the steamers. Outstanding!!! We dine there at least once a month.

Google
Consistently tasty, good prices and made quick for take out. Pictured is the sa sha beef combination with white rice and crab rangoon, and the general tsos chicken with white rice and crab rangoon

My family loves this place and we order takeout at least 1 time a week.friendly staff and great portions for the price and excellent food quality. They are very quick with fulfilling orders and they have so many delicious options to choose from for the entire family. Thank you guys we will continue to be your loyal customers as long as your around. You are really good food that’s quick affordable and makes it easy on the family at least once a week and it’s so good we don’t have any leftovers and are truly full and satisfied after eating your delicious dishes. Keep up the great cooking and pretty fast and friendly service.❤️

Yelp
Consistently good no matter what dish you order. Fast carry out service as well. Great neighborhood place.

Yelp
This is a decent spot for Chinese. I first tried the orange chicken. It wasn't too bad. I didn't care of the finger-nail sized orange peels throughout the meal. I picked them out. That next weekend I got combination plates especially since they ran $10 each. I was hoping portions weren't small and they were not. So I got the garlic shrimp and Szechuan chicken in both spicy. Neither were spicy. The sauce was light tasting. For the value it was nice but not much taste. They seem to sell quite a bit even pad Thai and now hibachi. I don't see any reviews on Hibachi yet but hoping it'll be better than what I've had this far because I can't find good hibachi I'm Charlotte. You can order online but double check at times because the system may be down. Plus the hours split between lunch apart dinner.

Cathy C.

Yelp
I had high hopes based on the reviews... but the white rice tasted like instant rice, and the lo mein was tasteless. The Szechuan wontons were good, but I was expecting some spiciness to it and it wasn't there. The hot chili oil was also disappointing. It tasted like it was just dried red pepper flakes in oil.

Kate T.

Yelp
While in the area I noticed Jade Dragon and thought we give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised that I had not heard about this place before and glad we stopped in. From service to food everything was really good. Since my first visit I have been a few times as well as ordered pickup. Some of my favorites include the Moo Shu Pork, Chow Mein and Wonton Soup. As for starters I would pass on the spring roll and egg roll. Both tasted frozen but did enjoy the Crab Rangoon.

Mitch K.

Yelp
Still crazy over this small, cozy restaurant. Best egg rolls, not greasy at all. Eat with mustard and hot pepper oil. Yummy. Best won ton soup in the area. Golden yellow and no oil or fat floating on top. Prices still reasonable. Special lunch menu...fixed plate. Good deal.

Aimee C.

Yelp
Highly recommend Broccoli brown sauce- really delicious Spring roll - fabulous Shrimp broccoli brown sauce - friend loved it

Peter M.

Yelp
Comfortable and casual place to find Chinese-American fare with all the usual suspects. Mitch K recommended the Szechuan wonton appetizer at $7.95. Gently steamed and covered in a peanut satay sauce with chilli oil makes a wonderful start to your meal. Good call Mitch! The food was prepared excellently, well seasoned, and served piping hot. The hot mustard on the side will smoke your sinuses. I loved it. I put them right there with Boading and Lam's. Should they have offered more regional Szechuan dishes (e.g. Taste of Shu and Lam's) then I'd give the extra star. Excellent food, though. Overlook the low-star reviews from the Yelp haters and you'll discover a great little place to dine. Has my wok smokin' hot on my "Give 'em a whirl" meter. Xie Xie.

Yelp
Yummy food and sweet staff. I always love eating here! The food is very consistent and the vibe is chill.

Mark T.

Yelp
Hey what a great place ! Dine indoor or out. Food is incredible and excellent service. They take of you here

Shannon M.

Yelp
Quick service and the food is always hot and fresh! They have a wide range of all day meal specials which are a great value.

Ben C.

Yelp
Surprised by the quality and service. All 5/5. Well run and attentive staff. No corners cut on the food or portions. Great Wall is in my rear view now after 35 years of patronage. This is my new spot.

Brittney W.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service. Take out and dine in available. Orange chicken is spicy . One of the best General Tso chicken we have had. Will go back and try the other dishes.

Barbara R.

Yelp
Went for lunch on Sunday and our group of 4 was the only customer in the restaurant. We ordered from the lunch menu and the food was okay but it was weird that we were the only ones there. It seemed a bit shabby and looked like it needed a coat of paint and new carpet. Maybe it's okay for take out but the ambience was not nice. There was an area in the front with a circular wall that looked like a semi-private room for a group but it was stacked with supplies like a storage room. As I said food was okay but atmosphere was lacking

Vince M.

Yelp
Today's lunch was my first visit here and I discovered that, other than a rather dark dining room, there's a lot to like about it. They offer the usual lunch menu choices ranging from $8 to $10. I went with the chicken and broccoli, and especially appreciated the fact that whole grain brown rice and crab rangoons were available options as sides in addition to the typical spring rolls and egg rolls. Everything arrived quickly, was piping hot and was delicious. Service was friendly and attentive, and although I don't normally prefer a dimly lit dining area for lunch, I did find it very comfortable and tastefully decorated. I especially enjoyed the soft yoga-like music that helped make my lunch very peaceful. They do need to improve their 93.5 sanitation score though, and as long as such a low score does not become a trend, I can see myself becoming a regular here.

Audrey K.

Yelp
Great Service. I love broccoli with tofu, eggplant chicken and Sa cha beef. I usually do take out but dining in is cool too.

Taryn R.

Yelp
Yelp to the rescue again! While pet sitting off Carmel Road, I was searching for something, anything edible within a mile or two of the house. How can such a wealthy, affluent part of Charlotte still be in a total foodie desert?! Seriously. The only thing for miles is The Lodge (so-so), Maria Bonita (no thank you) annnnnnd Jade Dragon. I knew I wasn't in the mood for the Lodge and I wouldn't be caught dead in Maria Bonita, so Chinese take out it was! Previous Yelpers suggested ordering the Szechuan Wontons and thank goodness they did! These magical little dumplings, which aren't on the menu, come in the tastiest, spicy peanut sauce. I will be back to Jade Dragon when pet sitting again and will order these every time. Besides the excellent dumplings, I got chicken in garlic sauce with brown rice. It was a solid choice -- not the best Chinese I've ever had, but certainly not the worst either. Next time, I think I will specify which vegetables I like to avoid the dreaded red and green peppers but score the beloved mushrooms, water chestnuts, broccoli, carrots, etc. Why, yes. I have been told I'm high maintenance before thankyouverymuch.

Zia T.

Yelp
I just realized I haven't updated my review in 8 years! Jade Dragon has quality food but their prices have skyrocketed. I recently ordered two lunch orders to go and my cost with no tip was over $30! I really like their food but often I will order from somewhere else just because of price. Also, their lunch meals do not come with an egg or spring roll. Taipei South is just as good but the prices and portions are larger so I typically order from them instead. If the prices were lower they would get 5 stars!

Lynette P.

Yelp
The Broccoli & Chicken was so light, fresh, and tasty. I just love it and I'm so happy this restaurant is so close. I appreciate the food not being drenched in oil. Never mind the order was ready in less than 10 min. Thank You JD!

Scott L.

Yelp
Had been in the past, have been trying again since and sort of became a regular mainly due to proximity, but they just refused to do any kind of small portion of plain, steamed broccoli for my kids. Something that is hard to miss on pretty much ANY Chinese menu. Hurting for business? Guess not, so be it.

Cathy B.

Yelp
Open on Christmas Eve - :) Great food, fresh , vegetables cooked just right and crab meat Rangoon was perfectly crispy and delicious.

Gary C.

Yelp
Well unfortunately this restaurant did not meet anybody's standards. The food was gross and I had to throw it away. It's very sad when you read good reviews and then you get the food it's just horrific. I would not recommend this place and I would never order it again. The only thing positive about this restaurant is my Uber eats driver did a great job. If the owner wants to give me my money back that would be awesome because it cost me like $23 and that's a lot of money to throw away

Patrick M.

Yelp
I ordered garlic broccoli and tofu to go and then ran into Harris teeter to grab one item. During my order the cashier was constantly coughing and I noticed the low sanitary score of 93 as well. Since I wasn't getting meat and was in a hurry, I went forward anyways. In the 5-10 minutes after I returned, the cashier did not know who I was and asked me what I wanted. It was a really weird vibe. I reminded her and then she went on to her hacking and mucus. I took the food a few minutes later and left. The sauce tastes like sweetened water with some garlic flavoring and the tofu was poorly cooked and poor quality. The broccoli was also clearly not fresh. The spring roll was also frozen and tiny and greasy. Will avoid this one forever.

May W.

Yelp
Friendly order takers. Curbside service upon request. Crisp, fresh vegetables. Not too salty. Not oily. Good portions. Wide variety. Good value for quality food. Definitely recommend!

Jenny F.

Yelp
This is our go-to Chinese spot. Food is fresh and delicious and prices are very reasonable.

Irene B.

Yelp
It's just 39minutes away from my apartment I usually order the crab ragoons which comes with chicken broccoli and the whole grain rice ,to top it up there is option for side dish I prefer egg rolls.within 15 minutes my food is at my door step

Lucinda S.

Yelp
Tried this place for togo food a few nights ago. I got mixed vegetables and bf got mixed veg with tofu. My food was very bland in a watery sauce. Bf didn't even bother to eat his. The Szechwan dumplings were awful, coated in globs of peanut butter. The spring rolls were completely mush on the inside. The hot and sour soup was the least offensive of the items, but still not worth eating. Don't waste a trip.

Jay C.

Yelp
Very friendly service. Food was average but lacked excitement as far as taste....pork dumplings were very good however. Shrimp and scallops had plenty of fresh vegetables, but the food lacked any taste, very bland. Wouldn't recommend.

Carolina K.

Yelp
The food was salty, greasy and bland. Definitely not real Chinese food. I'm not sure what people like about this place, but we won't be going back.

Becky C.

Yelp
The food is consistently flavorful and served at proper temperature. The service is delightful.

Tracy R.

Yelp
Very fast service, and delicious Chinese food. We always order the same thing, and they recognize me when I call for takeout. Fresh tasting, hot, and big portions - I always have enough to save for lunch the next day. Highly recommend the Jade Dragon for friendly and courteous service and delicious food. The restaurant experience is also very appealing - clean, attractive, and quiet surroundings makes for a very pleasant dining experience.

Mary D.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants!! I can't say enough about the excellent customer service and the food is always wonderful! The sweet and sour chicken is always delicious! A++

Sindhu C.

Yelp
Excellent food for take out :) Prior to COVID, I had a very pleasant experience dining in by myself. The food was authentic and tasty. The couple who owns the store are friendly and the ambience of the establishment is perfect for a calm dine-in experience or a social gathering. I would also enjoy ordering from this restaurant for take out while we are in COVID restrictions.

Laura C.

Yelp
The food was just OK, though I must admit that the beef chow mein was just strange. Normally it has a brown gravy but this was just clear gelatinous sludge. Not a lot of flavor either.

Diana S.

Yelp
I just recently moved to this area and saw the great reviews so I thought I'd try the food. The group of us ordered two sesame chicken combos, vegetarian fried rice and shrimp lo mein. The fried rice had almost no initial taste and then left an after taste of old oil and chemicals. The sesame chicken was chewy, rubbery and too salty. The entire meal was over 40 dollars which I also thought was a little high compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area. The lo mein was never eaten because everything else tasted so terrible. Update: the two people who ordered the sesame chicken got food poisoning.

Becka H.

Yelp
We have been looking for a favorite Chinese place since we moved to Charlotte 4 years ago. After trying A LOT of places we have FINALLY found one to call our favorite - the search is over and they officially have our business from here out! The black pepper steak is delicious and the meat isn't tough or dried out, not to mention the flavor is GREAT! (It's a little heavy on the mushroom for me personally but still will definitely he peering from again!) The Szechuan chicken was delicious too! With red pepper broccoli and mushroom, so good! Take out was ready in 10 minutes and ready to go when I showed up! Thanks Jade Dragon!

Alan B.

Yelp
Food was ok . probably would be better when they go back to in restaurant dining. liked the egg roll not a fan of the dumplings. general chicken was pretty good

Rebecca O.

Yelp
We have gotten delivery from here twice now. Quick, friendly, and not soggy or sad the way some delivery Chinese gets (I know you know what I'm talking about). We have been pleasantly surprised by the quality, too. More fresh veggies than frozen and tons of tasty meats. If you're looking for tasty, easy, reliable place to deliver when you don't feel like leaving the house, this is gold.

Justin T.

Yelp
We are always treated well at Jade...good service, good food, good environment. Now how about delivering to Piper Glen since Rea Road is finished? Please??? :-)

Swampfoxer ..

Yelp
4 years after my first review, also 5 stars, the Jade Dragon is still my favorite take out Chinese food. Their consistency amazes me. I have never had a bad meal. I love their Lo Mien Chicken. Done just right !!

Brittany C.

Yelp
i have not been in a while, but i love their food so much. the walnut shrimp is amazing, but i've never tried something here i didn't love. i cannot recommend jade dragon enough!!

Ryan C.

Yelp
Super good Chinese food!!! It's not cliche like most places, it's calming, there's great artwork, and it's nice and cozy! The fried rice was great, plus the rest of the food. The waitress was awesome and attentive, and she was nice. The food came out fast. I'm sure takeout would be great. They need sizzling rice soup though, a Chinese favorite of mine.

Cindy N.

Yelp
Food is very hot and good the only downfall is the price is a little high for a standard Chinese restaurant. Service is great!

Janos C.

Yelp
We decided to eat at Jade Dragon, a big mistake. The food was average, but the worst part is that they were so cheap that when we asked for separate teas, they brought one tea bag and charged us for two, they would not accommodate a small change in a dish, we had to purchase another dish! They also overcharged us (for which we had to point it out and have the bill corrected) and they included the tip on the bill, which we think is a rude considering we were not a party of 20, only 3. They were not friendly. That was the last time we eat there. I don't usually review even if I'm dissatisfied, but this restaurant, had bad service, on top of the average food, they were rude, and they wanted to rip us off.

Maureen B.

Yelp
The Chinese food at this place is amazing. The restaurant itself is nice, too - there is a decent amount of room for seating and it's very pretty and peaceful inside. I ordered the hot & sour soup and the general tso's chicken, They were so good! The soup was one of the best hot & sour soups I've ever had and the chicken was perfect - a little spice but not too much. The rice was cooked perfectly - not dried out at all, which is what I usually get at most Chinese food places. The amount of food that came out was very generous and everything just tasted great. The waitress was very nice. I will definitely be going here for my Chinese food fix from now on!

Tramela M.

Yelp
This is the best Chinese I have found in Charlotte. I am a huge fan if Chinese food and it have taken me some time to find the right one that makes my taste buds sing! We dine in on 4/28 and the service was excellent. My husband order the egg foo young with brown rice and I ordered the honey chicken with brown rice and a side of veggie fried rice. When I tell you that everything was so fresh and delicious! The Jade dragon will be our number one choice for Chinese food in Charlotte forever!

H Y.

Yelp
I just had absolutely the most tasteless Chinese food I've ever tried. Thanks, Jade Dragon! The ingredients all seemed to be fresh and the takeout containers rule. Now, if only someone could explain "flavor" to these folks. Seriously, I've had a lot of Orange Chicken in my time, some good and some bad, but until tonight I'd never had any that was 97% FLAVORLESS. (How does that even happen when a pretty strong flavor is part of the dish's name?!) But even the chicken packed a flavor punch compared to the fried rice. It was literally brown rice with some oil and vegetables. Apparently there is a strict "No Seasonings" policy at this place. Not so much as a hint of salt. And for the hefty price, this was a real disappointment.

Joseph B.

Yelp
Great food and very friendly staff!! The sweet and sour chicken is my favorite and you have to try the hot and sour soup! Will suggest this place to anyone who asks for a good Chinese restaurant!

George R.

Yelp
Inconsistency is the curse of small restaurants like this one. We've eaten here a couple more times and while it's generally pretty good it wasn't as good as our first visit. Last time they gave me a mountain of Singapore fried rice, there was a lot of shrimp in it, but the dish was dry, the shrimp overcooked and it was so spicy that I stopped being able to taste the food half way through it. Also tried the Hunan beef for lunch, it's only like $7. The veggies were crisp, the beef was well done but still reasonably fresh - unlike at the typical Chinese - but the sauce tasted boring. Honestly, I can't remember what Hunan is expected to taste like. It's still much better than the neighborhood take out joints.

Crista P.

Yelp
Nice family-owned restaurant and one of the better ones around the area. The food is light and flavorful compared to other Chinese places in town which tend to be a little heavier on the grease and somewhat bland. Hot and sour soup is one of my favorite things but many versions around town are not vegetarian.. However the one here is and that makes me so happy! Also tried the veggie spring roll, veggie version of the Singaporean rice noodles, and stir-fried okra and tofu in black bean sauce. BF had the teriyaki chicken appetizer and walnut shrimp. We both loved the food and service was great as well! Will definitely be back!
