NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"In Kensington, Jaew Thai Cuisine is a bright green restaurant with Thai food. They have a pretty long menu, with several variations of tom yum, tom jerd, and tom kha as well as the usual noodles and curries." - will hartman, bryan kim

⸻ I recently visited this Thai restaurant for the first time with my parents, who live nearby, and we had an absolutely fantastic experience—10/10! The food was incredible; the pad kaphrao was perfectly seasoned, and the green curry was rich and flavorful. I also loved their Thai iced tea—just the right balance, without being overly milky. The service was just as impressive. The waitstaff was attentive, regularly checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall, I highly recommend this spot and will definitely be coming back. A must-try for anyone who loves authentic Thai cuisine!

I stopped by JaeW Thai and tried their Pad Thai—it was really good! The spice level was stronger than I expected, but in a good way. It had great flavor and the portion was generous. What really stood out, though, was the Thai iced tea. It came with a cute bear-shaped ice cube made from tea and milk, and as it melted, it slowly mixed into the drink. Super creative and fun to watch—not something you see every day! The only thing I wasn’t too crazy about was the interior. It felt kind of plain and didn’t match how good the food and drinks were. But overall, I had a great experience and would definitely come back again.

Do yourselves a favor and order your dishes family style. We ordered a Thai iced tea, a purple lemonade, calamari, beef pad thai, crab curry, and mango sticky rice. Calamari - So this is a personal preference. I personally love that the calamari was light on the breading. And the chunks of squid were big. I was eating more squid than breading. Absolutely love this. Beef pad Thai - The beef was cooked very nicely and not overly done. The noodles were creamy and aromatic. It’s a familiar dish that will always be comfortable for anyone to order because it is dependable. Crab curry - The real star of the show was the crab curry. As you can see from the picture, there was a generous portion of crab meat. The crab meat had a pleasant sweetness to it. The dish was absolutely delicious. This would be the dish I would keep coming back for. Mango sticky rice - I’ve been on a mission to find a mango sticky rice in NYC that is similar to the ones I had in Thailand. Having tried so many, I can say that this is the closest one I can find. The portion was generous and is definitely shareable between 2 to 3 people. I was so full by the time we had the mango sticky rice, but I was determined to try it. And I’m so glad I did. Overall, this is a pleasant addition to the neighborhood. The staff were so pleasant and hospitable. I don’t have to travel all the way to park slope for the same pad Thai over and over again. The dishes here are more interesting and have more depth imo. And one final note, the Thai playlist they had playing in the background was really good! And the decor is really gorgeous.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jaew Thai Cuisine for the first time, and it was an incredible experience😍!The restaurant boasts a fantastic atmosphere, perfect for large groups and for celebrating special occasions like birthdays with friends. The food was delicious, with standout dishes including the flavorful crab meat fried rice, rich and aromatic red curry, crispy calamari, and the seafood Pad Thai, all cooked to perfection. The drinks were equally impressive; the Thai tea and Butterfly Pea drinks, both recommended by the owner, were refreshing and flavoured😍. To make our celebration even more unique, the owner kindly treated us to a complimentary birthday dessert, which was a lovely gesture. We had a fantastic time, and I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to enjoy authentic Thai cuisine in a vibrant and welcoming setting. It’s worth a visit!😊😊

We had a great time at this restaurant. My husband and I have been here twice. We ordered the Thai Satay Chicken, Brussel sprouts, chicken dumplings, and more. The drinks are sweet and very refreshing.

This is newly opened Thai restaurant, the waitress are very friendly. The best dish I had is pineapple shrimp fried rice. The sirloin cube is too salty, if they can just cut salt to half it will taste much better.

As someone who has travelled extensively to Thailand purely for the love of their food, I can confidently say that this Thai restaurant is an absolute gem for anyone craving authentic Thai flavors. For me, Thai cuisine is all about the balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy, and this place delivers on every level. And the best part? It’s incredibly family-friendly, especially for those with toddlers who can’t handle spicy food. Pineapple Fried Rice is a must-try. It’s a perfect harmony of sweet pineapple, savory rice. My kids absolutely loved it. Highly recommend Chive Cakes. The crispy exterior paired with the soft, flavorful interior is a texture and taste sensation. I’ve never seen this dish anywhere else, and it’s something you cannot miss. The Green Curry is another standout dish. It’s rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced—not too spicy, but with just enough kick to satisfy those who enjoy a bit of heat.My daughter, who’s usually hesitant about curries, couldn’t get enough of the Beef Pad. It’s packed with layers of flavor, from the tender beef to the vibrant vegetables, and it’s now her go-to dish whenever we visit. What truly sets this restaurant apart is how accommodating it is for families with young children. The Crispy Chicken Wings, cut in half for easy eating, making them an ideal finger food for little ones.*The Little Bear Dessert* was so delicious ! It was the highlight of the meal for my girls. Whether you’re a Thai food enthusiast or just looking for a great meal with your family to make your kids smiles, this restaurant will not disappoint.

Yelp
Nested in Kensington area of Brooklyn, this gem is a must if you are near by; since it's redesigned under new mgmt it's been taking the community by storm. Love the ambiance and service is engaging to your needs. The menu is filled with amazing dishes and also bolts a great lunch special as well. I tried one of my favorite dishes, the Lamb Shank in Massaman Curry. My go to of course is the Drunken Noodles (Phad Kee Mao). I will definitely be back and try something new!

Yelp
First and foremost you are greeted by two of the cutest servers. (Misu) like Tiramisu. Just adorable. We mentioned my family were fans of the old establishment. Misu explained the transition to this place. Which she didn't have too, but was nice nonetheless. For starters we ordered the calamari, chicken and shrimp dumplings (twice), thai fried rice, Phad See Ew, chicken drunken noodles. Can't possibly have a Thai meal without the cutest Thai ice tea. Other reviewers posted pics, but please go see it in person. Simply adorable. Although, we asked for extra spice for our entrees. They happily obliged with no question for more spice for our dishes. Oh.. lastly we ordered the Thai chicken wings. They were small, and I was concerned. Normally two bones are in a flat. A bit weird to see only one bone. We couldn't wrap our heads around it. Maybe they were going for boneless? ‍ My calamari crown still goes to Joya. (Look it up) the table thought they did a nice job. The dumplings were pretty much the star of the show. The portions were pretty good, we left full and satisfied. Oh! How can I forget our sweet treat! Mango with sticky rice. Our lovely hostess picked a beautiful mango for this dish. Very tasty close of our meal.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! We made a reservation for 3 but they let us to sit in the nicest couch sheet by the wall ;) So comfortable and I loved it hanging there. Ordered 3 dishes and the potions were satisfying! Thai chicken wings was great. We got Papaya salad and Pad se wee but I should have asked if they have Thai seasoning for the table. Because I just felt like, needed some more kicks and flavor. However, they are friendly and efficient! Will check out another dishes :)

Yelp
Excellent new Thai restaurant where Thai Farm Kitchen used to be. Beautiful ambience, attention to detail, friendly staff. The vegetarian entree options are pad Thai tofu or curries. There are also appetizers (eg dumplings) and soups. Unfortunately the house sauce has oyster sauce mixed in, so the other rice and noodle dishes are not vegetarian (also fish sauce in some of those). The music isn't too loud to talk, and the service is fast. They offer a discount if you pay cash! Sit here and enjoy, or order to go.

Yelp
I've been here a few times already, and I have to say the food is absolutely delicious. This place is definitely a must-visit Thai spot. The Lamb Shank in Massaman Curry is highly recommended, and the chive cake is a must-try appetizer. The Thai iced tea is adorable with its bear-shaped ice cube. The interior is charmingly decorated, and the staff are incredibly friendly and kind. I'll definitely be back again soon!!

Yelp
My husband and I went yesterday for their soft opening and were super excited that a new Thai restaurant opened where Thai Farm Kitchen used to be. The decor is very lovely, lots of green decor and warm lighting. The staff was very welcoming and nice. The food was very delicious as well, I'm not sure if it's the same chef as we didn't get to ask but the food quality is as great as Thai Farm Kitchen's. The menu is also pretty much the same, would love to see new items on the menu soon! That being said, their pad thai is consistently delicious! Our Thai iced teas came with cute bear ice cubes and for their soft opening they had complimentary dessert, we chose the mango mousse which was light and sweet. Overall, we were very content with the food and service! Will be coming back soon

Yelp
New Thai restaurant opened in Brooklyn Thai Farm Kitchen closed, and Jaew Thai Cuisine opened up on the same location this week in Kensington, Brooklyn, NYC. They did some minor renovations lending towards larger groups, brighter colors, and more of an open space. 10% off during their soft open. Had the chicken pad Thai, chicken green curry, and duck spring rolls. We enjoyed the food, but didn't love it. Felt like it was tailored towards non Thai eaters and a bit bland for our spiced up tastes. Staff was very friendly and spot on. Our glasses were never empty. They gave us a complimentary dessert. They've got a digital wait list when you walk in and a loyalty program. The credit card fee is 4%. 2 blocks from the subway and in front of a bus stop. We will try again later this month at lunch, trying their lunch specials.

Yelp
This is the best Thai food restaurant. All their foods are yummy. They make a delicious special sauces of each dishes. Very special and tasty. My favorite dish is crab meat fried rice and tom yum soup. Services are good and waitress are so nice. Tables are roomy and place is clean. Will definitely come more often.

Yelp
Great Thai stop in Kensington. I was looking for a place with a bit of ambiance while not sacrificing quality and this place fit the bill. Portion sizes were generous, the food very tasty and prices reasonable. I was a little reluctant at first because I was expecting the prior restaurant that occupied the space, but they were every bit as good. The chicken wings were delicious even if they were butchered differently leading them to a somewhat odd appearance. The cut makes sense though, as it leads to a better cooked wing even if the individual pieces aren't as big. I'll definitely be back in the future.

Yelp

Yelp
The Thai food here is always excellent and delicious. They have their own app, with deals and specials. Best in the neighborhood, and they are always so kind and appreciative when you go in.

Yelp
Had dinner here last night and it was delicious. The services was excellent and the staff were so kind and friendly. I ordered the Khao Soi and it was wonderful - flavorful, luscious, and just the right amount of heat. The mango sticky rice was perfect too. Lovely place with delicious food.

Yelp
I have been there twice since they opened, every dish has been delicious. The staff is gracious, and the servings generous. In my opinion it's the best Thai food I've had in the KWT area, including the slope.

Yelp
We went again and also had pineapple fried rice ( served in a pineapple) and red curry with tofu. Both dishes excellent.

Yelp
Happy a new place opened after Thai farm kitchen closed. Got take out during their grand opening night and it did not disappoint. Will definitely be back and am happy to have this restaurant in the neighborhood.
