These San Francisco Bay Area Cafes Have You Set for Ramadan This Year | Eater SF

"Co-owned by three Palestinian brothers in Berkeley, this community destination serves culturally-forward beverages and frequently collaborates with community groups and mosques to host events; organizers, artists, and coffee lovers come together to uplift causes close to their hearts, and the author says, "I feel comfortable skipping my usual coffee shop nickname." - Samia Abbasi

Came by yesterday for our Sunday Morning coffee. We were stunned by how bright and open the space is! When you enter, there are tables and board games to the left and a retail shelf to the right. When you get to the counter, take a moment to admire the beautiful Jaffa orange mural on the wall by the baristas/register. Beautifully done & really sets a good tone for your experience. Jaffa Coffee Roasters offers their standard cafe menu, seasonal tea/mocktails, signature mocktails, refreshers, and seasonal hojicha. They also have a selection of baked goods and some handmade bonbons. Since it was our first visit (and definitely not our last) we decided to try their seasonal mocktails— Just in Thyme ($8) & Gen Z Beel ($8). We got oat milk in each of them instead of the standard which added $1 extra to each and there is a $0.25 Berkeley Cup Charge. We also ordered a Jaffa Orange BonBon ($5.50) and a small Jaffa Cake ($5). Our order totaled at $29. While we waited for our order, we entertained ourselves with some of their coffee infographics by the creamer and to go lids. The bathroom was also well maintained and was decorated to the general theme which was super cute! We also snacked on the Jaffa Orange Bon Bon and Jaffa Cake. I found the Bon Bon to be a tad bit too gritty for my preference but the flavor was great. A subtle orange flavor with a nice rich chocolate. The Jaffa Cake was unique- a spongey cake topped with chocolate. It went great with the coffee because it wasn’t too sweet. The drinks were so fun & had a beautiful presentation. Each drink definitely takes some time to prepare so having the pastries to snack on while we waited was ideal. The Gen Z Beel was essentially a spiced coffee. It was perfectly bitter and the coffee flavor shined through. The Just in Thyme was my favorite. I am definitely biased because I prefer a fruit infused coffee. I could honestly even enjoy this drink without milk since there’s already whipped cream on top. I especially enjoyed the dehydrated pear garnish. The owner was our cashier, I forgot to ask for his name but he was happy to answer all of our questions and even went through the entire menu with us since it was our first visit. The baristas looked super busy but still made time to briefly chat with us when we were grabbing our drinks from the pickup area. They also made sure that we were aware of where to get lids for our to go cups.

Google
Jaffe Coffee Roasters is a cutesy cafe on University Ave, a bit of a ways from campus, but so SO worth it!! The interior was so vibey, the drinks were all very cute with excellent presentation, and the staff apparently really knows what’s up with coffee considering the incredibly detailed rants I overheard about beans that I legit could not tell you anything about. They even gave me a spoon to scoop up the whipped cream at the end HAHA. off their menu, I had the Strawberry Sage Creek, and this was so sweet and comfy and honestly great for someone who isn’t a huge coffee person. I will absolutely be back just to try their pastries bc i’m hearing some good things

Google
Jaffa Coffee Roaster in Berkeley is a great spot! The interior is beautifully designed to create a calming atmosphere. Their drinks are delicious and reasonably priced. The staff are very nice and patient, making every visit a pleasure. Highly recommend for coffee lovers!

Google
One of the best coffees I’ve ever had. We got the banana coffee and pomegranate mocha. You can tell everything is fresh, and intentionally paired. To top it off the service was amazing and place was aesthetically pleasing!

Google
I was so impressed with everything here. The drinks were not only innovative but executed well, the atmosphere is top tier, bathroom was nicer than some 5 star hotels. To top it off the service was exceptional and their dedication of so much of the space to Palestine was both heartwarming and created an extra feeling of safety to the overall atmosphere.

Google
After several visits I can confidently say this is one of the best cafés is Berkeley. The quality of their coffee is simply amazing, and something that makes them truly special is their consistency and commitment to always serve carefully crafted coffee drinks. Amazing.

Google
Amazing, unique "cocktail" lattes in so many flavors. Strawberry sage, orange, blueberry, cardamom rose, and more. Plus they have pastries from Midwife and Baker, which is one of my favorites. Seems to be a popular spot for people to bring laptops and work so it can be difficult to find an available table but I've never had to wait long and there's always been space at the community table.

Google
We were in Berkerly for 5 days and we had our morning coffee there each morning! Met one of the owners, such a nice person, the staff were smiling and welcoming ( even with a big line behind us and obviously busy). The only downfall is going back east and my morning cappuccinos will be subpar compared to Jaffa’s. Love the family pictures of the owners parents and their story it tells.

Yelp
A long overdue review, but doesn't change my experience at Jaffa Coffee Roasters! Was headed back home and needed a pick me up for the drive. I'm always down to try new coffee spots and I'm glad I got to try the seasonal mumkin spice latte. My boyfriend also got the seasonal salted caramel by the sea. Both drinks were actually recommended by the lady taking our order. She was extremely friendly asking if it was our first time here and how we like our coffee. Our coffees came out quickly and we were both very impressed. The PSL had its special twist which I enjoyed compared to the normal PSLs you typically have at other coffee shops. The salted caramel by the sea was a perfect balance of sweetness with a hint of savory. Really enjoyable! Recommend you trying out if you're in Berkeley or passing by!

Yelp
Jaffa Coffee Roasters is an absolute must if you visit the East Bay. They have something for everybody. Of course, they're famous for their Jaffa Orange latte, but as a non-coffee and minimal-caffeine drinker I was so happy to see they had teas and their Winter Warmers right now. I went with their Spiced apple cider (SO delightful, hot, and warmed my heart and cold hands). They also had a cranberry juice based tart winter warmer as well as a citrus one, but I was really glad I went with their hot apple cider. And all had no caffeine! The interior is absolutely jaw-dropping bright, welcoming, and elevated. LOVE the gorgeous Palestinian surfboard yeeeeew! And they have so much seating, you can pick a window-facing table for a quiet chat with your friends, or use one of the many table to plug in and do some work. Saw some people doing work on their laptops and some students studying. It has such a great space and lovely energy for everybody. The Jaffa orange wall mural is absolutely insane. I couldn't stop staring at it. Definitely one of my top 3 cafes to recommend to visitors or tourists when they're looking for a solid cafe spot with seating. Coming back again with friends obviously. No outdoor seating nor does it look very dog-friendly inside, but I'm sure that could easily be changed if they choose to invest in outdoor spots since they're on the corner of the street. PS street parking was free too!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. In Berkeley where there's so many cafes popping up, this one was accessible, warm and had delicious drinks that I keep thinking about. The jaffa orange latte was delightful and I can't wait to come back for it. The person who took my order was so kind and helpful with recommendations. Inside there was ample seating and a lot of people working/studying. I had my dog with me and they were so kind to let him sit with me while I waited for my order. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Gave this place another try, I ordered the bananas in Jericho. There is literally no banana flavor present. Why name a drink after a flavor if you cannot even taste it? It tasted like a regular iced latte. I don't like my drinks too sweet, but I still had to add simply syrup to add some sweetness. Service was also very disappointing. I was debating what to order from the specialty drink menu, and was hoping Allyson would help me understand the difference between the drinks. I felt rushed and her answers to my questions were very short. I don't think I'll be returning.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time and the word heavenly may have been thrown around. I picked up 2 bananas in jericho for me and my friend in the morning and they were excellent. The coffee was strong and the flavoring and cream tasted delicious and high quality. The interior is very cute and peaceful -- a place I would come to on weekends to read and drink my morning coffee. Service was quick and friendly and took great care in making my coffee. I did try a chocolate croissant from here and it was nothing special but satisfied my craving. I will be a regular here!!

Yelp
We came in here on a rainy Saturday morning to order some caffeine. I got a Hojicha drink (forgot what it was called) while my friend got a matcha latte. We were very lucky to grab a seat as a couple was leaving right after we finished ordering. It took around 15 minutes before our drinks were ready. I really enjoyed my drink as there was pear and thyme that complimented the Hojicha though it did make the drink a little chunky. I just thought it was way too sweet and I should have asked them to hold the whip cream. There was also ginger candy that I thought was a little too much too. My friends matcha latte was very bland, could taste a hint of matcha but definitely need more sugar to bring out the flavor. She spent a lot of time at the self service bar with creamer and sugars to make thag adjustment. Overall very pretty drinks and wonderful vibes but the drinks themselves weren't the best and were quite costly.

Yelp
Jaffa Coffee Roasters is just one stroll away from central Berkeley neighborhoods. Once you step inside, you're transported to a calm & serene place. The walls are filled with beautiful artwork and a mural that just captivates. The staff here are gentle and kind as well. We ordered two lattes "for here" and were able to enjoy the beautiful latte art & garnishes. Will definitely be back next time with a book!
google avatar

Melody T.

Yelp
It's a cute coffee shop! I should've gotten coffee though instead of matcha. I ended up adding three swigs of simple syrup because it was more milk than matcha.
google avatar

Dania B.

Yelp
Jaffa coffee is my favorite coffee shop in Berkeley. First off, the cafe is very spacious and has lots of bright natural lighting so it's a nice place to have a coffee and hang out for a while. Everyone is so hospitable and friendly and is always willing to give a rundown of their menu. I ordered the seasonal salted caramel apple latte and it was absolutely amazing I finished it so quick and was left wanting more. I will always stop by when I'm in Berkeley, it's too good not to!

Yelp
I got an espresso and oat milk Gibraltar. Both were decent. Unfortunately they mentioned they were too busy and short staffed for full in-house service--everything had to be made to go in paper cups. The espresso had good crema and decent texture, but no strong flavor notes. I tasted mild acidity and bitterness, possibly the green grape and star anise mentioned on the bag. Richer texture or strong flavors would have made this shot even better. 3/5. With the Gibraltar, the oat milk paired well with the espresso. Well balanced drink. 3/5

Yelp
Jaffa coffee roasters is a lovely coffee shop with ample seating if you can make it there early as most of it is occupied by people working/studying. I love their coffee mocktails menu and hope I can try them all at some point of time. I tried their Choco Capp which was delicious and is their take on mocha with cacao nibs adding to the texture and cacao powder lining on the cup.
google avatar

Ruobin W.

Yelp
If you're looking for a cute, bright neighborhood cafe with great coffee, study space and warm service, you've found it. There is plentiful seating, natural light, and quite a few outlets. The coffee "mocktails" are a real standout - Orange Latte, Strawberry Sage Creek and any of their crafted stuff are flavorful, well-balanced, and thankfully, not too sweet. I will definitely try to get back there ASAP.
google avatar

Madeline K.

Yelp
Good service and mocktail flavors! The signature mocktail portions are a bit on the smaller side, but the espresso shots they use in it are pretty strong. Loved the Strawberry Sage Creek! The Bananas in Jericho would have been better if the banana taste was stronger.
google avatar

Megan B.

Yelp
I've been twice here already with my little one. I got the banana latte both times, very yummy. It's stroller friendly in any of their seating and music playing in the background is at a good volume. I would go back.
google avatar

Caitlyn L.

Yelp
I have nothing but great things to say about this coffee shop. The customer service is immaculate, actually probably the best I've ever experienced. The guy at the front was so knowledgeable on the science of the coffee, walked us through the vision for the whole space, and explained the whole menu. I ordered the orange Jaffa latte and it was divine. It wasn't too sweet and the orange flavor was subtle enough that you could still appreciate the profile of the espresso. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Emily V.

Yelp
Friendly staff, warm and inviting environment just like middle eastern culture. Beautiful notes of eastern flavors infused in each cup, hand crafted with care. Not only a lovely presentation but equally delicious. Next time I'm in town I'll be sure to come back!
google avatar

Ethan A.

Yelp
Lovely coffee shop with excellent ambiance. It's bright, clean, and very appealing inside with chairs and tables seating about 20-30. Staff is friendly and nice. The drinks are a bit on the pricier side, however, they're different. They're unique with drinks that aren't found elsewhere, with rosemary or sage or other spices added on top of a flavor. I got the Tatreezelnut which was an excellent take on a hazelnut latte, however the fresh rosemary included was a tad much so I ended up taking some out. Overall, this place has unique specialty drinks that I will be coming back to try. Go check them out!
google avatar

Dianna P.

Yelp
Very pretty little spot with very pretty and unique drinks. I got a strawberry sage latte and it was delicious! We went on a Saturday afternoon and though there's a handful of tables, they are very busy! We drank out coffee standing until a table freed up lol
google avatar

Melodie D.

Yelp
Love this beautifully sunny and bright neighborhood cafe in Berkeley. Since moving back to the Bay, I've been back on the grind (pun intended) to find good coffee. Jaffa hits all the requirements for: good coffee, beautiful vibe/atmosphere, and great hangout spot. Their menu is frequently being updated with seasonal items, but they consistently offer specialty coffee shop staples, including: pour overs, cappuccinos, etc. Drop by to chat all things coffee, or simply stop by for a spacious and cozy place to study/catch up with friends.
google avatar

Francisco D.

Yelp
This place has some great coffee treats! We picked up the Strawberry Sage Creek and Orange latte. I really appreciate how unique some of the drinks were. I mean, strawberry cream on the latte with dried strawberries on top?? Thats pretty nice and fancy. Both drink were great and they had a wide selection of pastries to pair well with any of the drinks. Both drinks were subtly flavorful and not that sweet at all.
google avatar

Isaiah G.

Yelp
I found this place driving by. It's at a corner great location. I loved that it was nice and open. The people who were working there were very welcoming. There was bottled drinks and hot drinks. I got a pastry and an orange latte. While you wait there are books you can read. I got my coffee it was pretty good just wish it was a tad sweeter. Overall great experience great service and good coffee.
google avatar

Ajay K.

Yelp
A bright and sunny cafe with very innovative drinks that have a middle eastern twist. I got the seasonal peach fennel matcha and it did not disappoint. I was concerned that it might be too sweet but when I expressed my preference to the barista/owner she dialed down the peach syrup so it wasn't overwhelming and you could actually taste the matcha. Definitely coming back on my next trip to Berkeley!
google avatar

Avey S.

Yelp
The seasonal banana latte was amazing, 10/10 recommend! The server was patient with me taking forever to order lol (but don't worry no one else was in line). The inside is beautiful and catches a lot of sunlight. Parking is street metered. Lots of tables for working. Music is a bit loud and I loved what they were playing but if you need to focus definitely bring noise canceling headphones. I'll be back for their other lattes! So many unique flavor combinations.
google avatar

Cassandra T.

Yelp
The coffee mocktails are very well balanced. This isn't your average coffee shop. The owners have successfully delicately balanced the flavors of their homeland while the main hero, the coffee, shines through. The interior decor is clean, modern, and chic. I could easily spend an afternoon here working (and very well may). It's a very well lit place and pays homage to Palestine. The jaffa orange art on the wall is absolutely stunning. The owners are three brothers and you can tell they poured their heart into this shop. Free Palestine
google avatar

Jude D.

Yelp
Beautiful Palestinian owned coffee shop! I had the bananas in Jericho iced latte which was delicious and not overly sweet. Loved the decor, the drink and the vibes.

Elijah T.

Yelp
First time trying Jaffa and let me tell you it does not miss! All the flavors are super unique especially right now with their fall menu. Sami (one of the three brothers that own it) took our order and made us feel so welcomed like family. A new spot I can call home for coffee. I ordered the Gen Z Beel (iced with oat milk, topped with vegan whip). It had flavors of ginger, molasses, cinnamon, star anise, and topped off with a dehydrated orange slice. Was super delicious and looking forward to being back to try the rest of the menu!
google avatar

Victor G.

Yelp
Jaffa Coffee Roasters opens where MeloMelo Kava Bar once was. Similar infrastructure, new decor. Offerings: Covfefe variants, other hot drinks, pastries.. Quick, meticulous service by baristas. Ordered after debriefing. Drinks in 5ish minutes. Drip covfefe (4) medium roast, South american beans. -large cup, volume reduces tastes to light Expresso shot (4) house blend (Midnight in Jerusalem): blend of Guatemala, Nicaragua & Peru coffee beans. Strong! Robust! Smooth! *can mix both to make a black eye. Prefer separate. Bites: Almond Croissant (7) -biggest ever seen. Many layers of flakey butterness, covered with roasted almond schreds, powdered sugar, definitely artisanal, not formula.

Yelp
Wow, the coffee drinks and mocktails here are amazing! Nice Palestinian coffee shop and relaxing decor. We ordered the Just in Thyme, Jaffa Orange Latte, and the Gen Z Beel. As we were waiting for our drinks, they let us know that they are out of the Jaffa Orange Latte so we changed it to a different drink. Also, they gave us the wrong drink for the Gen Z Beel. Lastly, the drinks didn't come out for over 10 minutes so we asked about it and they let us know that there was an issue with the espresso machine they are fixing. OK, so far lots of issues before we even got our drinks, BUT the drinks made up for it. The drinks are very tasty, look presentable, and you can smell the aromas from the mocktail! Highly recommend trying their signature drinks, which I will be back to try more of!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite stops to make in Berkeley. Jaffa is a beautiful space with sweet baristas and absolutely incredible, unique drinks that blow my mind. I've tried their orange latte, strawberry sage latte, and most recently their seasonal peach matcha drink. That last one may be the best drink I've ever had in my life and I will be dreaming about it forever. There's plenty of natural light and seating, so there's always a nice mix of people chatting, working, and simply enjoying their drink. The baristas are very knowledgeable and friendly and I can tell they make the drinks with care. It's a little on the pricey side, but I see it as a very worthwhile treat instead of a daily thing. I only wish I lived closer! I love this place and wish it the best success, always.

Yelp
I had been wanted to check Jaffa Coffee Roasters out, so I stopped by around lunchtime on a Sunday. We ordered the Jaffa orange latte and strawberry sage creek (a seasonal drink). Jaffa orange latte: 3/5 It contains jaffa orange syrup, milk, orange slice and jest. Unfortunately, I felt the coffee overpowered the orange syrup and orange flavors so I couldn't really make it out, if anything it only just made the drink more acidic. Strawberry sage creek: 4/5 It contains milk, strawberry sage syrup, strawberry whip, and strawberry slices. This was sweeter than the orange latte, and if you use a straw to drink, then toward the end it gets creamy and sweet like a frappuccino from the whipped cream, so I enjoyed that the flavor became progressively sweeter as I got from the beginning to end. The dried strawberries are cute, and don't get too soggy or mushy fortunately. I couldn't really tell if the whipped cream was flavored though, it just tasted like standard whipped cream to me. For both I drinks, I unfortunately felt the coffee really overrode the other flavors. I'm curious to try their other drinks though, particularly the chocolate-based choco cappuccino, and the rose with a chance of hail (the latter has rose petals, rose cardamom syrup, and milk but is a seasonal drink). They have a traditional coffee menu on wall but there are separate paper menus on the counter with their specials, seasonal offerings, and teas. Their special coffees are referred to as "mocktails" on the paper menu. They also sell some pastries, including vegan donuts. The drinks were done within 4 mins. The shop's space is actually very long and has some seating area in sunlight, and others that are not so brightly lit, based on your preference. Some are sofa style but most of the seating is a long wall bench and chairs. I do think the shop itself looks nice with the natural lighting.

Yelp
Wow-wee. Love. So. Much. Some of the best coffee I've had. I ordered the Strawberry Sage Creek. My friends ordered the Bananas In Jericho and Lamoona Lavender Latte. So so delicious. Rich coffee taste. Fresh whipped cream. Well balanced. Not overly sweet. Subtle yet strong flavor. Beautiful space. Great natural lighting and wall art. Wonderful service as well. Drinks were ready fast. You should definitely check them out!

Yelp
I was so excited to see that there was a Palestinian coffee shop located in Berkeley. I was walking by and noticed the signs in the window and went inside to try it out. They have tons of unique lattes that feature different Palestinian touches. I tried one that was similar to a hazelnut latte, but it had fig inside. It was so delicious and very unique. I will definitely be back next time in Berkeley!

Yelp
I LOVE it here. The drinks, the bright ambiance, the kind service - Jaffa Coffee Roasters is the way to go if you're looking for a spot to work in Berkeley. I met up with a couple of friends at Jaffa to cowork on a Friday afternoon. Super easy to find parking around - you'll likely end up parking at a meter on the street and walking over. You can even take bart and walk over like my friend did. The shop itself is small, fitting maybe 25-30 people seated. They have a lot of tables and a long bench with pillows along the wall. There's also some seating right by the window to soak in the sunlight. The windows are large and the walls are painted so beautifully. As a person that is energized by working in beautiful spaces, I was so happy here. The drinks are also delicious. I went with the hot version of their signature Jaffa Orange Latte. A delicious latte, with just a touch of orange flavor. Really beautiful if you decide to enjoy it dine-in. I also tried my friend's chocolata rummana, a mocha with pomegranate mocha syrup and garnished with fresh pomegranates. Delicious, though I will admit you'll get mostly mocha flavor with a tiny taste of pomegranate. The drinks are also equally beautiful iced. Saw a few others order them that way and they're all instagrammable (camera eats first, right?) They also offer some pastries which my friend got to enjoy. The staff is really kind and accommodating too. Super helpful when I requested many things like the wifi password, then later an extra cup, then later some other request I can't seem to remember. Overall highly recommend this spot to get some coworking done, hang out with friends, or just grab a delicious coffee to go.

Yelp
Best place for a Saturday morning. Glad I found this place it's not too crowded, can actually do my work on the weekends! It's right on the corner so I found plenty of parking . Coffee was great! Just the right blend! Chill vibes. Shout out to the owner!

Hamlet S.

Yelp
Amazing, great-tasting coffee! Good vibes all around I'd come here every day if they allowed me to use my own travel mug. Technically, I could pour the coffee from their cup into mine but that just feels wasteful. When I asked why, they said "sanitary reasons," which I get. Still giving 5 stars because I'm rating the coffee, not the policy.

Sam S.

Yelp
I ordered a mocha, it has a unique chocolatey unique taste. I went there twice and the quality is consistent. Service was great, loved the vibe there and plenty of outlets to work there on laptop, it gets crowded sometimes.

Yelp
My go to coffee spot. The coffee is the best, the atmosphere amazing as well. Service very welcoming, just love the place and want to support them. Thanks guys. Best, Bonnie and Ali

Yelp
Staff were super nice and really listened to what we were in the mood for to give a good drink recommendation! Sweetness of drinks were adjusted accurately! Intentional decor and lots of seating! We got the matcha and banana latte and both were great!
google avatar

Yelp
One of the only places that actually does pour over in Berkeley. In terms of quality, I'd give it 4 stars -- they don't rotate available beans that much (I think partially because they're trying to mainly serve and dial in stuff that they roast, and they haven't been around that long) but the ones they have are solid. I'd personally appreciate more curatorial effort / interesting flavors. But have to give them credit just because they're the only ones doing it here. Nice lighting in the shop and lots of seating, bathroom is pretty too and the owners try to be personable.

Yelp
Great coffee, lovely ambience. A little pricey but I'll be back Gorgeous mural of orange trees and blue sky on one whole wall

Came for the coffee, left with a tote bag and bag of roasted beans! Lovely, airy atmosphere, with a fun selection of Jaffa Coffee Roasters tote bags & the best insulated mugs from Fellow. Amazing menu of your standard coffee shop items, with inventive, seasonal mocktails as well. I had a hard time deciding between a few options with barista recommendations - followed her guide, and I'm sure I'll be back to try them all! The pastries looked delicious, with the chocolate twist and Jaffa cake. Plenty of street parking, and easy access from the nearby Ohlone park and downtown Berkeley BART station. Love this classy addition to the neighborhood!

Yelp
Such a bright lovely space with such beautiful, inclusive people managing the floor. Delicious pastries and REALLY good espresso. Will definitely be coming here regularly to support!

Yelp
As out of town visitors, we were happy to find a coffee shop that opens before 8am. Service was exceptional. Our server explained the different roasts and was kind enough to allow us a sample of the house dark roast. We enjoyed our delicious coffee in a very refreshing atmosphere. It was so good that we bought beans to bring home! A nice reminder of our lovely visit with family. Thank you!

Yelp
This place is amazing! Love the service, the baristas were quick in making our drinks and they were amazing. It is apparent that they take their time in crafting their beverages. They also have the best ambience, celebrating Falastini culture and tradition, mA. I hope this business continues to thrive and that their drinks and service continue to be amazing, iA. Thank you JAFFA COFFEE!

Yelp
I love cafes and fancy beverages, and I have my go-to favorites but also like trying new spots. This place had been on my radar for a while and I finally gave it couple of tries as I prefer to support small local businesses when I can. Holy moolah Batman, $10 coffee is the dystopian reality we unfortunately live in around these parts. Yes, everything at Jaffa is handmade in-house but this is not the first spot to do it nor have I been able to justify the amount of money spent on either of the drinks (orange latte and seasonal matcha latte with stone fruit) I got during my two visits. The whipped cream on my matcha latte was probably the best thing about it but the drink itself was nothing to write home about. I don't even remember what the orange latte tasted like and for the price, I guess I was expecting to be blown away. Additionally, the customer service is not particularly special and it honestly felt like they were overstaffed with a bunch of folks behind the counter standing around and chatting. I worked at a cafe for two years so I get that there is downtime but it just felt weird, maybe because of how quiet it was in there otherwise. Overall, I love the concept of Jaffa and their aesthetics are also great, but I will probably not be a repeat customer.

Yelp
Jaffa Coffee is a charming little spot with plenty of tables and outlets, making it the perfect place to study or get work done. I had the pleasure of meeting the founders, a couple of brothers who clearly pour a lot of love and care into each cup of coffee they serve. I ordered a mocha just 30 minutes before closing, and even as they were winding down for the day, they made sure to craft my drink with attention to detail--no rush at all. This kind of thoughtful service really stood out to me. I will say I did pay $8 for my cup of mocha which is quite steep for a cup of coffee but it was definitely tasty and high quality. I absolutely recommend a visit to Jaffa Coffee if you're in Berkeley!

Yelp
Everything is delicious. Nour was extremely sweet and explained everything on the menu. Love the vibe of traditional middle eastern music and the shop is bright, clean, and colorful.
