"What a cosy and quaint-feeling place, serving what the owners term "Heimatküche": think hearty, fresh, flavoursome cuisine. Classic German dishes are the stars of the show – game and goose are specialities of the house. They are at pains to use regional ingredients and remain aligned with the seasons. Service courtesy of friendly and competent staff. Make the most of the beer garden in summer." - Michelin Inspector
Absolutely fantastic German dishes served at Jäger & Lustig, alongside with a stunning 🍨 (Kalter Hund). The staff is polite and friendly and the venue is extremely cosy, relaxed, yet it has a traditional old-school atmosphere. Totally recommend!

The Food and beer was excellent. Everyone was happy with that.
Now starts the negative review… Generally the service was fine except one lady who identified herself as the manager was particularly rude to me. We arrived with more people than we reserved for.
Nothing was said to us about that. But when the food eventually arrived at our table we were told we cannot sit here and we were not offered any alternative seating. When I asked what should we do about this and where should we sit I was told to get out my seat or leave the restaurant.
I understand as a group we showed up with more people than planned. But it is the job of the front of house staff to manage who is coming in and where they are sitting, not the guests.
In general the other servers were good and friendly but I did I find myself walking around and searching for them to order drinks and to pay my bill as opposed to being served. That is why I give the service one star.
Despite this I would come back to enjoy the food, drink and nice atmosphere again.
I guess this is the infamous Berlin service that I have heard about.

We had a great time and amazing food! Staff was very welcoming, helped us choose the drinks and mains, also encouraged to try typical German dessert which was surprisingly delicious! We can recommend a deer steak and a beef roulade, they were cooked to perfection!

Perfect Dinner. We just walked by and asked for a table. At 19:30 all was reserved but the reception guy offered to have a look if we wait 5 kin in the self service " Biergarten". I need to say it was good to wait. After we were seated we enjoyed a great service by Tika (great job!). The food offering was great and the beer as well. Thanks a lot! We will come again!

One of my favorite restaurants in Berlin — it never disappoints! Every time I come here, the food is consistently delicious, and I really appreciate the seasonal menus that change with each time of year.
The staff are always friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even better. Highly recommended!

A great modern twist of authentic German food. Had the schnitzel on seasonal asparagus, the chef's recommended deer steak and the warm rhubard cake served with ice cream. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. High quality ingredients. Reasonable price. Love the local beer with floral taste.

The food was amazing, I can warmly recommend the ”Moose on a spit” as main course, like the best imaginablebeef tenderloin, and the Keiserschmalln as desert, both fancy and tasty. The service was exceptional!

Yelp
For context we are tourists from the U.S. with limited knowledge of German cuisine. Looking at the menu I was definitely out of my element. We ordered the Schnitzel and the Ox Rib and the Jager bread to start. The food was delicious! The schnitzel was crispy and juicy and the ribs were two LARGE rib servings. I like the potato salad that went with the schnitzel far more than then the rocket dumplings that went with the ribs ( but to the restaurants credit I'd tasted rocket dumplings at another restaurant the day before and they were terrible, these were much better! I just might not like rocket dumplings)
The service was prompt and they were able to give good recommendations when they saw how lost we were with the menu. The venue had a nice beer garden and the inside feels like a hunting lodge which was fitting to the theme of the restaurant.

Yelp
Solid food in a non tourist part of the Eastside. Not a far walk from Eastside Gallery. Casual yet upscale and trendy atmosphere and the service was perfect for a tourist (English was spoken).
