"Chef Rosie Healey (an Ottolenghi alum) mixes Middle Eastern and European influences to create a short menu of casual, homey dishes, from a lovely selection of seasonal salads to a super simple yet totally mind-blowing combo of nduja sausage on toast with honey and thyme (a highlight). And while the flavors are homey and comfortable, everything else is anything but: Everything from the presentation—dishes that look like beautiful, Modern Abstract paintings—to the building itself, which looks like it's straight out of Stanley Kubrick's2001:A Space Odyssey, are unflinchingly sleek and modern."

A brilliant dining experience from start to finish. Warm, friendly service from the lovely front of house staff. Really tasty, unpretentious food that's packed full of flavour. Superb organic and biodynamic wines that match fantastically well with the food. Unbelievably well priced too. Simply faultless.

They have got something seriously right here. Food is sharing-plate style Ottolenghi experience but very well-judged and extremely enjoyable. Each dish was genuinely good and some surprisingly so. The wine list has some real gems that I had never heard of or tried before. One wine was good enough that I've tracked it down to buy more. Service is warm and efficient and make sure you listen to the recommendations. I can't work out why it's not jam-packed every night but if you can go!

Went there on a Thursday night with friends and family (6 of us in total) in December as we wanted to try something different to the bog standard curry houses on Brick Lane. Was very pleasantly suprised by the look of the restaurant - Initially I wasn't quite sure if I'd found the right place! First impressions were that of a 70's train or bus terminus thanks to the curved seating area & burnt orange bar. The staff seemed friendly, laid back and very knowledgable about the food. We decided to order a bit of everything as it was mainly tapas style on the menu - good suggestion for those that what to try something different but not keen on being stuck with a meal they don't like. The anchovies were a hit with our table (although I don't eat them), so I'd suggest ordering those. We didn't get around to deserts but our waiter suggested a lovely desert wine which we wouldn't normally drink, but it was great! (Can't remember the name, sorry!) The prices are very reasonable and we left feeling sated but not over full. Because it had only recently opened it wasn't rammed, but I can't see it staying that way for long.... Well done, guys! We'll be back!

Every restaurant has it's birthing pains, especially on the first evening. This one had none. Very enjoyable food, clean modern Mediterranean, hints of central Europe and middle east. Oh, and generous portions. Although food is tasty, the whole experience is carried by an inspired wine list (of great value by London standards). We tried almost every wine on offer per glass and not one disappointed. Staff is relaxed and attentive and Hugo is a pleasant maitre d'hotel. All in all, with distinct al-fresco vibe due to the glass wall, tasty and current food and absolutely great wine list, this should become an all-day east London institution it is aspiring to be.

Really good food. For starters I had the scallops which were really good, albeit they should have served 3 to a portion. I had the Haddock and Samphire, for my mains, which was well cooked, and my date had the Pork Belly & Hispi Cabbage. Can't complain, service could be a little more attentive, but the all in all, good for what it is.

An amazing space - great food, drink and hospitality. Hugo runs the space like a 21st century Cheers - sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. Last visit was a private party and he still managed to squeeze us in a beer and recommend the only good Indian restaurant on Brick Lane (well, very near it).

Had a wonderful evening at Jago with my wife and friends. Each course was well delivered in good time, hot, prepared in an original way and full of interesting flavours. The highlight was the orange and polenta cake we had for dessert. It was an absolute delight. All in all a great night out.

Heart of Shoreditch’s Brick lane. Perched on the outside of the eclectic and inevitable cool of a work hub in the area. The menu offers an interesting break from the usual, with a heavy influence on salt – salt fish, salt beef are both great.

Yelp
What.a lovely place. It's really nice coming here for dinner. The décor is really interesting and the staff are lovely, especially the beautiful waitress who served me the other night. She had the most lovely smile, I just had to tell her how nice it was! The food is almost as good as the waitress' smile. Good quality, decent sized portions served tapas-style. I had the tomato salad which was lovely, followed by some octopus peach combo that was really nice, and a great plate of grilled sardines. The atmosphere is lovely and the only reason I'm dropping a star is the service could have been faster (it wasn't always the smiley waitress serving us) and the bench seat, although really cool to look at, isn't very comfortable to sit on for any period of time spanning a dinner.

Yelp
To start off I have to say that the food was good. We ordered the orzo and veal cheek, the scallop, the cauliflower, and the squash, as well as some bread and olives. The flavours were rich, and well balanced. The squash especially was very well done. On the downside, I found the atmosphere a little lacking- though it was interesting to be looking into office cubicles. I haven't experienced that before. The real reason for the three stars however is our waitress dropped our bottle of wine while pouring, smashing the glass she was pouring into, and spilling wine and broken glass everywhere. Being two Canadians we were very polite about it (eh), but I admit I was very disappointed when there were no reparations were made. Not only was a big mess made, with wine spilling on my friend, but we lost at least an entire glass of wine. I do feel that there should have at the very least been a fresh glass of wine brought to make up for the spilled one, or a free dessert offered, or a discount given on the (not inexpensive) bottle of wine we ordered. I would expect better service from a restaurant.

Yelp
Amazing restaurants in this hip, innovative start-up hub. Flawless design and incredible choice: get the ox cheek as a main and their chocolate cake for dessert.

Yelp
Well what can I say, well done Jago. When descended upon by my motely crew of colleagues from around the world, which included 2 full veggies who eat no meat at all even fish Jago hit the target. The waiter challenged my boss with wine pairings (which is my boss' specialty), he also put up with 3 of our party being 40 minutes late, he bantered with one of our party who tried to make the waiter decide what she should eat and really provided a fantastic service for us. They allowed us to play table games and not to mention the food. The food was just excellent, the flavours were spot on, I ordered scallops with wild garlic and then the pork belly. The wild garlic was just so so good, I would really really recommend this restaurant. Starters are priced between £5-£8 and the mains from £12-18 and for the quality of the produce, in London, this felt like stealing! We all went home extremely satisfied with the evening and I received much praise for finding this little gem. Thank you Jago!

Yelp
First time at Jago with my boyfriend last week; firstly, loved the venue and cool shape of the building, really different. Great service from the start, a menu that we wanted to eat everything from, so hard to choose! We went for the orzo and veal cheek, brocolli, scallop, cauliflower croquette and duck hearts, all of which were delicious and beautifully presented. Good cocktails, good music. If you're an Ottolenghi or similar fan, pay a visit.

Yelp
Food was incredible and very authentic. The chicken kebab and koobideh were outstanding. My only critique is that the restaurant is extremely quiet, so it makes it a little uncomfortable while you're eating. It would be great if they turned up the music a bit.
