I was excited to try a new craft cocktail bar in Barrio Logan, and I’m sharing this review in the hope that the place succeeds while making some necessary adjustments. When it comes to service, there’s a lot of room for growth. The staff is very friendly, but they are understaffed, leading to long wait times for food and drinks. The food was delicious, but the chef is overestimating the value of the dishes given the prices. Being in Barrio Logan, I wasn’t expecting to pay the kind of steep prices typically found in upscale dining. Unfortunately, the overall aesthetic and service don’t quite match the cost. For two people, our bill came to $177. That included four cocktails; with little to no alcohol and three snacks, which weren’t substantial enough to be considered full dishes. My Valentine’s scallop dish was tasty, but I would have preferred four actual scallops instead of one scallop sliced into pieces. The atmosphere was nice, and the bartender did a fantastic job. However, at this price point, they completely lost me. I’d rather go somewhere where I don’t have to wait 40 minutes for my snacks.

A super cute bar, beautifully decorated for Christmas, with a fun seasonal menu. I loved the cozy and intimate vibe. While the drinks were quite weak, the food was excellent!

Everything about this place is A+++ Immediately walking in the owner Alejandro greeted us and made us feel SO SPECIAL. Keep in mind the place was busy and he still took time to talk to us and walk us through the menu. Everyone on staff is amazing. They let us taste personal mezcal they had gotten from a recent trip to Mexico. It was amazing. I got the gimlet and it was to die for. The prickly pear margarita was a hit at the table. Totally come here for snacks or for a drink. Awesome date place as well!

Google
low abv cocktails and natural wine. the cocktails sounded interesting but were all missing something, probably since they can’t use spirits. waitress didn’t know anything about the natural wine from austria. has potential but at those prices, might as well go to a better cocktail/wine bar

Google
A cool little cocktail bar in Barrio Logan. We wanted to try something new and found this place. They serve natural wines, low abv cocktails and small bites to eat. The food and drinks were tasty and reasonably priced. The server didn’t know much about the wine selection, but overall it was still a good experience.

Great ambiance, tasty tapas style small plates with a bit of an Asian / Mexican twist, and excellent cocktails. Highly recommend!

Chef Caesar knows what’s up. The balance of flavors & textures in his creations are an experience for the taste buds. The Mexican-fusion style blends are straight satisfying! Also, the ambience of the place is great & the service is on point. A+

Yelp
This place serves creative low-ABV cocktails, basically with wines and spirits. The interior was festive and decorated nicely. Their menu was limited for the holidays when I visited. I heard it's not usually like that. My friend and I got the Negroni and jingle jungle. Both drinks were nicely done. We also shared a tapa which was the catch of the day scallops aguachile. The scallops were fresh and the flavors were perfect. The server was nice. I'd definitely come back to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
The great: live music! The okay: Low ABV cocktails were interesting. New bartender was really overwhelmed and frazzled, hoping he can get more support on future weekends. The bad: the natural wine was pretty terrible compared to other natural wines I've had. May have been an old bottle, but wouldn't risk ordering it again.

Yelp
An ok spot. Stopped by for the holiday pop up. We ordered the tots which remind me of the ones at born and raised. But tots instead. The aguachile was okay. And the tuna plate is one tostada with tuna on top. Didn't taste bad but felt lacking. Idk. It was not bad but I feel like if I'm paying to go out and eat I want a little more from the plates. The drinks were yummy.

Yelp
Came solely for a post-dinner drink, and their sol y mar cocktail was a hit! Would order again. The small bites on their menu also sounded delish, so if in the area, I'd be down to stop by. The main con was poor air circulation -- smelled like (deep-fried) oil, probs from their tots. But apart from that, ambiance is nice. And the drinks were good!

Yelp
Jaguar Paw is one of my fav spots in SD - Situated in the colorful district of Barrio Logan, the drinks and bites from JP are incredibly creative and fresh. The mixologist as well as the chef are a super talented duo - Was lucky to partake in a special Sunday food tasting and was totally blown away by what they were able to create !! Next time, I wanna go check out when their DJ's spinning some dance beats :)

Yelp
My review is a bit overdue, as we came during their soft opening phase. Walking in, we were welcomed right away. It was a cute space - different than some of the other local spots - but it fits in well with the artsy shops around. The bartender (possibly the owner) was super nice and explained about their cocktails since they don't have a full liquor license. We each ordered a cocktail and were pleasantly surprised at how good they were. Maybe a little sweeter than their actual liquor counterpoints, but still good. We did not try any food, but it smelled amazing, so next time! They also have an interesting wine selection and some beer options. The service was a little slow that night, but they were just getting going. He was very nice and made sure everyone was happy with their drinks. I am sure they are in a good groove now, and I look forward to going back and trying some other things.

Yelp
Saw the Christmas pop up plug on IG and made a reservation with our friends. The staff was friendly but the decor and cocktails did not live to expectations... it seemed the drinks were missing something and tasted watered down. That being said the spot was cute and we didn't try the food... if they can up their cocktail game this spot would be awesome... I wonder if it's a liquor license ordeal or something. I feel they should focus on their natural wine selections too, the waitress explaining the origin of one of their wines seemed very unsure so yea.. maybe we'll give it another shot in the future.

Yelp
Jaguar Paw is another new listening bar that has popped up in the SD area. It's located in the heart of Barrio Logan across the street from where a renown taqueria recently closed. The inside of the suite had ten two-top tables and six stools at the bar for seating. A disco ball hung from the ceiling while the interior decor had beige and salmon as primary colors. Two sets of customers were at the bar when I arrived so I took a spot at one of the tables. Soft instrumental music was being played from the speakers. The menu at the time was comprised of eight cocktails, four beers, and four wines for drinks. Three types of food were available... Fish Dip, Sardine Crudo, and Oysters. I picked the Fish Dip and the Oysters to go with a Gimlet mocktail. Lemongrass, basil, and soda water were the main ingredients in the sparkly non-alcoholic drink. The Fish Dip came first and featured smoked skipper mixed with creme fraiche, tomato, habanero, house pickles, and lemonette. A set of crackers was provided on the side of the serving tin to scoop up the dip which had a nice blend of savory and tartness. The medium sized raw oysters were served as a trio topped with salsa kyoto, sunumono, and togarashi. The taste was fine, I just wish there were more pieces for $12. I don't know how often items on the menu are rotated, but a few more food choices would be ideal. The bartender came over to serve my table in between his customers at the bar. He was very efficient and polite. The ambiance was very low-key which made Jaguar Paw a nice spot to unwind and relax.

Yelp
Had an excellent time with the bartender Ashkan!! I came in on my own and felt immediately welcomed with warm embrace of friendly smiles! The ambiance was a very unique mix of retro and floral that somehow reminded me of a favorite neighborhood Mezcaleria from Mexico. There was plenty of selection for drinks and I saw they have some N/A spirits for flavorful mocktails too! Very balanced flavors in the food and good portions for an evening bite

Yelp
I really wish I didn't have to add ONE star for my highly dissatisfied review. I had high hopes for Jaguar Paw because I love supporting smaller businesses, but unfortunately, our visit turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience. We arrived early just after 5pm, without reservations, and were okay with waiting for a table. The host told us it would take 45 minutes to an hour, so we left our name on the waitlist and went next door to enjoy a drink while we waited. All seemed fine at first, but things quickly went downhill from there. An hour and a half later, I returned to check on our status, only to be told there was still another party ahead of us, and that walk-ins were limited due to reservations. Fine, I understand that. What I didn't understand was the lack of transparency. The host suggested we wait further, I asked if there was a time limit for how long a table can be occupied he said there wasn't, but that most people only came in for drinks and stayed for about an hour. This gave me some hope that we might still be able to enjoy a drink there after dinner. But here's where the communication failed. Instead of being upfront and letting us know that it was likely we wouldn't get a table that night due to the heavy reservation load, they just kept us hanging with no real updates. If the host had just said, "Sorry, it's reservations only tonight, and it doesn't look like there's a chance for walk-ins," I would've understood and returned another time. Instead, we continued to wait, hoping for the best. By 8:15pm, we decided to walk down the street to a charming Italian restaurant, where we were seated immediately. Fortunately, we were able to enjoy a delicious meal, excellent wine, and a truly memorable evening. Thanks to the Italian restaurant for saving the night. At 9:15pm, more than 3.5 hours after we first put our name down, I received a text saying we had been removed from the waitlist. I couldn't believe it. After all that time spent waiting, 3 hours and 45 minutes, they didn't even have the courtesy to let us know we were no longer in the running for a table or prompted them to remove us from waitlist. This could have been a great experience, but it was overshadowed by poor communication and inadequate customer service. I get that reservations are important, but if walk-ins are unlikely to get in, that should be communicated clearly upfront. Also, they should stress "reservations only" or set a time limit on tables as other successful restaurants/bars have. Unfortunately, we won't be returning, and I'd advise anyone without a reservation to look elsewhere unless you're prepared to wait indefinitely and be disappointed.

Yelp
I don't know gives seemed nice along with food and drinks. Our reservation was at 10:15 but by then kitchen was closed. Drinks are great. Service could be better. Love the Christmas ambiance but do wish they would play Christmas music. So many good cumbia remix to many songs but none played. Not sure if I'll be back for the Christmas experience.

Yelp
Happen to stumble across this spot while passing through Logan. I immediately noticed there was limited menu regarding what to eat, but there are several drinks. Expect to come here to drink and eventually move elsewhere. This is a great place to start the night. Good music, good drinks, and great service.

Yelp
Barrio Logan is easily one of my top neighborhoods in San Diego. It has so much character and I never get tired of strolling around the area. Recently, some of my friends from San Francisco came to visit, so of course I had to bring them to Barrio Logan, and as we were walking, we stumbled upon this cute sign that immediately intrigued us. I am big on color and cool fonts, especially love dark contrasting tones, so this 'Jaguar Paw' sign really marked off all of those for me. Upon entering, to our surprise, we learned that the restaurant was in its pop-up trial to gather initial insight on how to run the restaurant. They wanted to maintain a lowkey vibe and did not want to publicize it on social media, so that they could sort out the kinks slowly, as people organically come and go. When I heard this, this actually made me gain a lot of respect for their concept since I've seen many restaurants just immediately jump into it, which often causes a lot of gaps in service. I can tell this place really cares about wanting to deliver a quality experience from A-Z! The Jaguar Paw team's goal is to create a fresh seafood restaurant paired with a listening bar. They plan to have local DJ's coming in to spin and based off their playlist when we visited, I foresee them doing a great job with their DJ selection. Their entire playlist was already on point and was heavily focused on soul music. Think music along the lines of Thee Sacred Souls, Bobby Oroza, Thee Sinseers, The Altons, & etc. The spot is super cute too, decorated with green and pink hues, and after talking to the server, we found out that a lot of the decorations in there were DIY (e.g., the spraypainted styrofoam part of the wall, which we were very impressed with). They even provide you adorable little wet towels on a pretty ceramic dish, so that you can clean off your hands prior to your meal. During our trip, we were able to try a few cocktails and seafood dishes. The cocktails are incredibly well made here and I LOVED the tiny crane origami that they incorporate into some of the cocktails. So cute and fun! They mostly serve craft soju cocktails, natural wines and local craft beer here, and the options are great. As for the seafood dishes, these had amazing flavor and the presentation was so well thought out. Everything here is made fresh, including the chips that you use to scoop your ceviche. The chef came to speak with us too and mentioned how he's in the process of doing a lot of R&D work. From there, he ended up bringing out some things for us to try for free, such as his homemade vegetable chips, as well as a matcha dessert topped with toasted sesame seeds. Just wow - we were so grateful and impressed with his spontaneous vision in creating these on the spot for us. Although Jaguar Paw is still in its early days, I truly hope that this restaurant flourishes, as their team is extremely creative and clearly very skilled in the culinary department. I plan to be back and Jaguar Paw has simply skyrocketed my already immense love for Barrio Logan!

Yelp

Yelp

Yelp
Was really looking forward to some holiday cheer but left completely disappointed. The service is glacially slow. The menu has 5 food items on it. It took forever for our food to come out even though it was not at all busy. The food was served tepid at best. The food is kind of expensive for what it is: tater tot's, tepid black beans, but nothing to dip them in. We left and went across the street to Fish Guts and had the best fish tacos, the best service, for a fraction of the price. Don't waste your time or money on Jaguar Paw. If you're looking for a festive holiday bar try Polite Provisions. I'm not affiliated with anyone. Just my honest opinion.

Yelp

Yelp
My friends and I were very disappointed in our experience. We didn't have a reservation but when we walked in the host stated it would be 45 min wait. We waited and waited and waited for several hours without a call and then we got a text that they removed us from the waitlist!!!! Thank you because we found the best Italian restaurant down the street!!! This place is very unprofessional!!! I don't recommend!!!!!

Yelp
Welcome to @jaguarpawsd, which is one of the newest and BEST bar and restaurants in artsy #barriologan. The flavors of the food and drink will blow your socks off. Yelp
Jaguar Paw is an absolute gem! This spot has perfectly nailed the balance between a trendy vibe and a laid-back, fun atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with vibrant décor, upbeat music, and a friendly staff who clearly love what they do. The real star of the show, though, is their innovative menu of low-ABV drinks. These aren't your typical watered-down cocktails--they're creative, complex, and packed with flavor. Whether you're sipping on a refreshing spritz or a uniquely crafted concoction, each drink is designed to let you enjoy the night without overindulging. It's a game-changer for those who want to keep the energy high without going overboard. Their food offerings are equally impressive. The small plates are perfect for sharing, and every dish feels thoughtfully curated to complement their drink menu. Think bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and a presentation that's as Instagram-worthy as it is delicious. Jaguar Paw is the ultimate destination for a night out with friends or a casual date night. It's fun, it's fresh, and it's redefining how we enjoy the social dining experience. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Don't waste your time and money. Horrendous experience. Pretentious, tiny bar with extremely rude service, limited menu & has cockroaches crawling outside. Do yourself a favor & keep walking past this pathetic little bar.

Yelp
An overall bad experience at this restaurant. We went in for dinner on a Friday evening after stumbling on a reel and out of curiosity and we were vastly disappointed. Long wait for the food, over 45 mins for only two plates, and once made we literally had to ask the waiter if they could bring it to us as it was just sitting on the counter. We even noticed the table next to us get their food before we did and they had ordered after us. But that's not just it, the food itself was not good at all once it finally got to us. I literally felt like I was getting punkd when the food came out and saw what was placed in front of us. We got the quesadilla de plátano, you would anticipate something fried to be warm but this was cold, soggy, and bland. We also got the ceviche negro and it was very unflavorful and were given literal chip scraps with it. I think this place seems very experimental with their ingredients with absolutely zero delivery. Someone saw that we were clearly not having an enjoyable experience because they asked how everything was and I simply asked if I could have the check. This person apologized and took the food off the check but added a drink we never got into the check. We also found a piece of something in our water which to me seemed like a piece of napkin. We would definitely never come back to this place ever again.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food, drinks, aesthetics and most importantly the people. The menu changes every now and then so you're always surprised with a new palette experience. My favorite place in San Diego thus far.

Filiberto M.

Yelp
Overall a very mediocre experience. The drinks were not good. The aguachile was one of the worst ones i have ever had. No flavor. Could not tolerate more than one bite with the measly artistic tostada it came with. We were hoping the tots would be good cuz how do you mess that up. Wrong. They were cold and just a strange combination of flavors. The server was rude when we got there and didnt acknowledge us. The guy behind the bar had to tell her that people were waiting at the front. Overall this place doesnt really fit the Barrio vibe and wouldnt be missed. Would not go again. Would not recommend.

Yelp
My friends and went her late at night on a Thursday. The food and drinks were amazing. We tried every food items on the menu. Both owners and the chef were very nice, attentive, and talented.
