This place has a lot of potential—the oxtails were flavorful, and the gravy was excellent. However, there are a few critical issues that need to be addressed.
The moment I walked in, I noticed an off-putting chemical smell instead of the appetizing aroma of food. Cleanliness was a major concern—if the kitchen prep area is visible to customers, it should at least be presentable. Right now, it looks like a cluttered mess. The front counter was sticky, and the kitchen from where I can see it looks like a mess, with a dusty old box fan sitting on top of counter— far too close to what looked like food prep areas. Had I seen this before ordering, I would have left. The reception counter was also sticky and cluttered with random knickknacks (including an old, dirty mirror). A minimalist approach would make the space feel cleaner and more professional. At the very least, the customer area needs a deep clean.
I ordered the large oxtail plate. While the oxtails and gravy were delicious and the veggies were decent, the rice tasted days old—it was full of hard, stale pieces. For the price, I was disappointed that plantains weren’t included.
Final Thoughts:
The staff were very friendly, and the owners seem like good people. However, the issues with cleanliness, presentation, and inconsistent food quality (like the rice) are too significant for me to return unless improvements are made. With better attention to these details, this restaurant could truly stand out.
