Taj Jai Mahal Palace

"How did it strike you on arrival? It’s in the name: This is a palace. And I don’t mean that proverbially, as in this place is like a palace. I mean this is a once-home-to-local-rulers, actual palace. It’s evident the moment you step into the building. Interiors are dominated by the polished marble and vaulting ceilings characteristic of the Indo-Saracenic architecture that was popular here in the 18th century, when this place was built. The next thing you notice, beyond the majesty of what’s inside, is what’s outside: Namely, 18 acres of meticulously manicured Mughal-style gardens, perfect for an afternoon with a novel or a stroll contemplating all the rich history embedded in every corner of Jaipur. And speaking of Jaipur, the Taj Jai Mahal Palace is located on a quiet street in the central Civil Lines, not quite in the middle of all the tourist action, but easy enough to get to all the forts, palaces, and markets that have made this city so popular. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Don’t expect the backpacker set that first put this city on the tourist map decades ago. These are people who want to be treated like royalty—think young honeymooning couples and older ones back for a return visit—and are just not able to rationalize staying anywhere else in this city. How was check in?Palace-dwellers don’t stress, and here, if I may remind you, you are in a palace. Much of your stay is customizable, down to the softness of your mattress. Beyond a flat-screen TV, don’t expect much in the way of envelope-pushing tech, but this is an 18th-century mansion that still retains much of its original beauty, so if tech-forward bells and whistles were what you were looking for, you’re in the wrong place. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The entry-level accommodation rooms, the Deluxe Rooms, are plenty luxurious in their own right. You’ll find a four-poster bed, marble floors, intricate wooden latticework, white marble, and miniature paintings, all hallmarks of Rajasthani culture. Every detail seems to have been thought about—down to the soap dispensers in the bathroom—to make sure it stays true to the history of this region. Views are either of the tranquil gardens or Jaipur’s streets, though we'd opt for the garden views for that feeling of escape. If you're really looking to do the royalty thing, you can choose from the hotel’s six sprawling suites, each named after a particular facet of Jaipur’s culture or history. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? If you’re not wowed by the Taj Jai Mahal Palace’s commitment to turning this hotel into a living museum, then check your pulse. What you make of it is up to you—whether it’s your launching point for exploring the city, only coming back after a long day on your feet, or if you prefer to spend an afternoon by the pool, followed by a run along the on-property jogging track. If you’re feeling particularly showy, you can even customize your arrival—and be greeted by (we kid you not) camels and elephants decked out in full-on festive attire. Room service and food: Worth it?Jaipur is home to so many incredible restaurants, you could probably eat every meal there for a decade and not get bored. But if you decide to eat on the palace grounds at least one night—and you should—you’ve got options aplenty: four restaurants, a bar, and a bakery. The real standout is Cinnamon, which serves dishes traditionally enjoyed by the aristocracy of the so-called “princely states” (semi-autonomous vassal states of the British Raj) of Rajputana, Awadh, Hyderabad, and Kashmir, all in what once served as a prime minister’s dining room. Menu highlights include Laal Maas, a lamb cooked with a heavy helping of chilies, and the house speciality, Dal Cinnamon, black lentils slow-cooked overnight. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.A proper showcase of the local culture wouldn’t be complete without music, and fear not, the Taj Jai Mahal Palace doesn’t come up short. Catch intimate showcases of folk dance and puppetry every evening in the gardens, put on by multi-generational performance troupes that will have you transfixed for hours. Bottom line: Worth it, and why?The history of India’s maharajas wouldn’t be complete without multiple mentions of Jaipur, the so-called Pink City. People come here from all over the world for that very history—all the forts and palaces that over the years have been restored and preserved. The Taj Jai Mahal Palace offers the opportunity to stay in a piece of that history, with all the trappings of royalty that come with it."

Jaipur’s Royal Family Lists City Palace on Airbnb - AFAR

"A 300-year-old royal palace suite in Jaipur is being offered on Airbnb as a rare overnight stay in a private section normally reserved for the royal family and VIP guests such as Princess Diana and Oprah Winfrey. Hosted by His Highness Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh—an NYU-educated, India national polo player who has also modeled for Dolce & Gabbana and is the first royal to host on Airbnb—the listing is intended to raise funds for the Princess Diya Kumari Foundation and to promote Rajasthan’s arts and culture. The accommodation includes a large lounge, kitchen, private indoor swimming pool, a chauffeur-driven airport transfer, and a private butler who arranges curated experiences (shopping tours, restaurant reservations, guided museum walks). Launched for stays beginning November 23, 2019, the suite was offered at a promotional $1,000-per-night rate (rising to $8,000 per night in 2020), with Airbnb covering the difference when discounted so that proceeds benefit the nonprofit." - Lyndsey Matthews

These folks are the best! I can just say that if there ever was a PhD. at hospitality, these guys should have created the course. Starting from how we were greeted at the entrance to the in-room dining, they made us feel like we were the only humans on the planet. I’m glad I picked this property for my anniversary, I will never forget the experience. I don’t want to comment on the quality, just keep your eyes closed, you are in safe hands and among the best the hospitality sector could offer.

The Jai Mahal hospitality never fails to amaze us. Aslam always goes the extra mile with a big smile on his face to make sure all our needs are taken care of. I have been to this property before and he has always been so warm and welcoming each time. It was also my birthday and they decorated the room along with a cake, it made it extremely special!! |Monu and Mahender were also super helpful during our stay. We used the pool at Sawai Man Mahal where Guddu arranged everything for us, along with a Hot Steam which was so rejuvenating.|I also visited the spa and Ms. Pinky was amazing with her service and warmth. They also decorated the room for me, which made it even more special |I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Recently had a chance visiting one of the prestigious hotels in Jaipur with my family- The Jal Mahal Palace, and I have to say, the experience of the property was breathtaking. Such a beautiful view, fresh atmosphere as we were surrounded by trees all over and of course, how can I not mention about the stunning architecture of the property and food which was delicious, rich in taste and mouth watering indeed, must try their dessert. ||I would like to take this moment to thank Mr. Shiv, the best host at Jai Mahal Palace. His hospitality truly added more value to our stay. He went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of, especially my parents. It was like having a brother next to us, making us smile with his hospitality journey and taking care of our smallest requests. All in all, a great man best suited for his hospitality. ||Thanks for the most memorable stay. Would definitely come back with the family.

We had the pleasure of celebrating our anniversary at the magnificent Jai Mahal Palace in Jaipur on 20th May 2025 and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with a beautiful floral reception that set the tone for our entire stay. The warmth and hospitality extended to us throughout our visit made us feel genuinely special and completely at home. Every member of the staff we interacted with was incredibly courteous and professional. Special thanks to the Front Office Manager and the wonderful team of ladies at the reception for their gracious assistance. We would also like to express our appreciation to Mr. Vikram, Mr. Aslam, and Chef Pradeep Thakur from the restaurant team — each one of them contributed to making our dining experience truly exceptional. The food was simply beyond our expectations — delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and served with great care. We were also grateful for the flexibility shown with our early check-in and late check-out, which added to our comfort and convenience. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Rathore, the General Manager, for his thoughtful letter and warm anniversary wishes. It added a very personal touch to our stay. It’s clear that the impeccable hospitality we experienced is a reflection of the Taj culture — one that prioritizes warmth, care, and excellence in every detail. God bless you all, and thank you once again for making our anniversary so memorable. Thank you Pradeep Batra Monica Batra

From my experience, this is the best hotel in Jaipur.||The location was spectacular! Siting beautifully amidst 18 acres of landscaped gardens. The aesthetic of the architecture and interiors were captivating, with traditional details that made us feel like royalty.||The staff was very helpful and courteous, firendly and engaging.||The gardens were luscious and peaceful, providing a sense of calmness upon witnessing it's view.||The hotel served breakfast which was excellent. The cook was not only great at his culinary craft, but very friendly and took time to say "hello" to us.

It was awesome, their hospitality, room, service, cleaning everything was top notch. The entertainment programs they have, it was all very nice. The royal feeling of riding a buggy (it was very short though) but the experience you'll get will be very nice. Their swimming pool was under maintenance so they provided a cab for another pool at their other property. Really a well maintained beautiful property.

Grace, Grandeur & Unmatched Hospitality Taj at Its Finest||||We had the pleasure of attending the engagement of Chanakya with Chandni on 19th July at the Taj a celebration that brought friends and family from across the country, including the bride’s family from Bihar. While I have always admired the Taj, this review isn’t written out of loyalty – but because what we experienced that evening was truly beyond reproach.||The touch of class, the refinement in every detail from the décor to the seamless coordination left us deeply impressed. Mr. Kuldeep Sharma and Chef Pankaj led a team that delivered with grace, efficiency, and genuine warmth. The menu was exquisite, with every dish delighting the palate and presentation that reflected pure finesse.||Our gathering included senior generals and top police officers, each one seasoned in attending high-profile events and yet, each one was unanimous in their appreciation of the venue, the food, and most notably, the hospitality.||What stood out was not just luxury, but the quiet dignity and professionalism that defines the Taj experience. It wasn’t overdone it was just right.||Many guests, inspired by the experience, have already begun exploring the possibility of hosting their own functions here a true reflection of how memorable the evening was.||||With gratitude for an unforgettable celebration,||Col PS Bindra
